#RoboCombat

"You have been warned, citizen. Your forceful removal from the property will now commence." Said the leading bot as it and its 'squad' resumed their menacing stroll over to Izuku, buzz saws at the ready.

"Ooo, how scary. Well, we'll see about that." Spider-Man retorted, planning on making the first strike. Reeling back his right electrified fist, Izuku slightly crouched as he channeled all the bio-electricity summoned over to said fist. "Take this on for size! Venom... Punch!" And there goes his fist as he launched himself towards the leading bot, delivering to it a mighty blow that pushed it back some ways.

Its circuits fried after such a shocking attack, the bot's trip did the same to some of its friends as it crashed into them; the electricity 'sharing' itself amongst them.

"And it's super effective!" Izuku cheered at the result, the bots numbers having decreased significantly after that. "So, which one of you fancy trash bins is next?" He challenged, glaring at the remaining bots as they continued their charge. "All of you? Eh, works for me."

After flipping back to dodge an attack that nearly cut him down the middle, Izuku jumped up and over his attacker. Whilst in midair, he turned the tables by webbing the saw's arm and forcing the blade to cut down its owner.

Landing on his hands, Izuku performed a handspring to perch over another bot. Then he crawled all over it, forcing this one to take itself out on its own volition. He kicked off right before the saw could hit him.

With two more of them down, Izuku looked around to still see more, narrowing his eyes as he was ready to take them all on.

Rolling under a slash, Izuku webbed the side of one bot before swinging it around to harshly knock a few others away. He then threw the bot at another, the impact resulting in complete wreckage.

"Is that all you got?! Come on, even the common petty criminal is more challenging than this! And all they carry around are switchblades. Your creators really slacked when manufacturing you, huh?" Izuku chuckled as he stood around nonchalantly. Sure, taunting soulless machines was pointless, but with how... ineffective they seemed. He just couldn't help it.

"..Kill." Ordered a bot as it and others resumed their fruitless assault.

"Huh, I guess they do get ticked off. Who would of thunk it." Izuku shrugged before going invisible when another saw nearly thrust into him, confusing his robotic opponents as they tried scanning around for him. Only to see nothing.

"Where has the citizen gone?" One bot asked.

"That information is unknown." A different bot answered.

"Yoohoo!" Izuku's voice suddenly echoed as one of the bots had its saw ripped off and plunged deep into its face, destroying it on the spot. Things were quiet again once the sparking had finished, the bots now searching for the webslinger with a tad more urgency.

"I'm having a fun time. Are you all having a fun time? I feel like you're not having a fun time."

BOOF!

Out of nowhere, another bot was launched into the air before quickly getting slammed back into the ground following another impact. The bot shut down shortly after its rough crash, two fist shaped dents visible in its body.

THWIP! THWIP! THWIP!

Next thing they knew, three more bots were hanging on a street light by an abundance of thick webbing. Their weapons rendered useless as they were webbed also.

If the remaining bots were panicked, it'd be evident by how they began bringing their backs close together, still hopelessly searching for their camouflaged assailant.

"This is bad." A bot stated as it randomly waved its blade around in front of it, just in case Izuku happened to be there. He was nowhere close.

"You guys are making this waaay too easy. Heads up!" Izuku's shout came from above them this time around, his camouflage coming undone as he powered his torso and fists with bio-electricity while dropping down on them.

"...Uh oh."

"VENOM SMASH!" Spider-Man bellowed as he then pounded a fist onto the concrete right in the middle of them, using a web line to really strengthen his drop. Upon landing, his power emitted a destructive pulse, frying the surrounding bots whilst sending them on a little flight.

When all was said and done, Izuku stood up calmly as that seemed to be the last of them. He dusted his hands off at the job well done, seeing nothing but sparking and shredded scrap metal laying around him. "You know, I would say that it's just another day in the life of Spider-Man. But, fighting robots? That definitely changes things." He said to no one in particular.

"IZU-I MEAN, SPIDER-MAN! WE GOT A PROBLEM HERE!"

Unfortunately, that was just the calm before the storm as Izuku perked up when hearing Barbara's cry come from Sweet Justice, his spider-sense blaring at the same time. Alert, he turned to see what all the fuss was about. And his mask's eyes immediately widened upon witnessing the upcoming disaster. "Oh, no.. No, no, no, no, no, no, no.."

Exiting Sweet Justice like their lives depended on it were none other than Izuku's female companions, dressed in their hero costumes. They weren't alone as they had the cafe owners and a few very distracted civilians in toe. And for good reason.

Izuku's terror wasn't due to his friends sudden appearance, but the fact that right behind them... Sweet Justice was moments away from crumbling into ruin.

..And there was absolutely nothing he could do to prevent it if he tried. Not after all the damage the structure had suffered inside.

"What did yo-!" It wasn't the time for questions as he was cut off when the building collapsed as soon as the girls and civilians were at a safe distance. They covered their eyes when concrete dust quickly flooded the area, causing them to cough as they were momentarily lost within it.

When the dust dispersed, Izuku was not ready for this latest sight..

"Oh, my god.." He gasped at the horrid aftermath, grabbing his head as he looked on at their first real failure with both confusion and sadness.

The owners obviously took it the hardest as they broke down sobbing, especially the wife as she was the loudest of them both. No one could blame them as Sweet Justice was also known for being their pride and joy. Their life's work. Their... purpose. And it's all gone now. Just like that..

A few new people in Izuku's life had some explaining to do. So, when he turned to look at his horrified friends, he went right up to them with the intent of getting some answers. And answers he will get. "What. The hell. Happened in there?!" He asked while pointing at the destroyed cafe, sounding understandably... displeased. "I thought you all would be able to keep things under control after I left. There wasn't that much of them for you to deal with for crying out loud! So, what went wrong, huh?!" He outright demanded to know.

At first, his outburst had startled the girls. When getting over it though, they looked away from him with shame written all over their faces, none of them having the guts to face him after how royally they screwed up. And believe them, they know they screwed up.

"Batgirl?" Izuku called the redhead after getting nothing, locking his narrowed masked eyes on her as he hoped that she would answer him.

Batgirl flinched upon suffering Izuku's scolding gaze, fiddling with her thumbs. "W-Well, we uh... We, um..." Her voice quivered, unable to provide the right words.

Thankfully, she was saved for the moment as police sirens were heard approaching, causing the super teens to tense as they looked in the direction they came from.

"Damn. The police are coming." Izuku hissed, glancing at a nearby rooftop. As much as he hated to think it, it'd probably be a bad idea if they stuck around, especially after the disaster they had, to an extent, created. "Come on." He sighed, walking past the girls. "We shouldn't be here when they arrive.. We're in enough trouble as is. Now, let's go." He said firmly, casting a web before swinging up out of sight. Obviously, he was in a sour mood now.

"I should've never agreed to this crap.." Supergirl muttered regretfully, scowling as she steadily flew to follow Izuku.

"I never wanted to do this in the first place.. I should've stuck with that decision." Zee lowly huffed, following Kara's lead.

"Some hero I turned out to be.." Bumblebee whimpered, shrinking before flying to the roofs.

Green Lantern didn't want to leave like this, but she figured that the owners wanted to be alone to mourn their loss. She gets that. In suppressed anger, she glared down at the insignia within her power ring. "I wish you had never chosen me." With that, she floated off.

A depressed Batgirl was about to do the same, pulling out her grapple gun. However, she held off her departure when noticing that Wonder Woman wasn't moving.

The Amazon still faced the scene, eyes shadowed and her expression without emotion. And despite that, she had tears rolling down her cheeks.

"Diana?" Babs approached, about to touch the Amazon's shoulder. She wasn't given the chance as Diana suddenly whipped around and walked by the redhead, her posture stiff. "Let us go, Barbara Gordon.." Was all Diana said before jumping high, leaving no time to receive comfort... as she felt she didn't deserve it.

"R-Right.." Barbara frowned, sparing a sorry glance at the crying cafe owners before hesitantly abandoning the area via grapple gun. Before leaving, something on the ground caught her eye. Believing it to be some sort of clue, she picked it up before grappling out of there. The police having arrived shortly after.

On this night, they all knew how it felt to experience true failure.

A few blocks away, the teens regrouped atop of an apartment building. A tense silence filled the air as they took this time to cool off. Though that was difficult to accomplish.

His mask off, Izuku leaned back against the roof's edge, arms crossed and maintaining a stern expression on the girls. As for Babs and Karen, they had their cowl and helmet off.

After a few minutes of 'relaxing', if they can even call it that, Izuku finally broke the sickening quiet. "So... back to my earlier question, what happened back there?"

"Dude, seriously? You're asking that right now?" Kara glared, clearly frustrated.

"No time like the present." Izuku shrugged, glaring back at the Kryptonian with less intensity than her. Once more, he asked. "What. Happened?"

While the girls didn't wish to give any answers, they knew that he deserved them. Surprisingly, it was Karen who mustered the bravery to speak first. "W-We may have... messed up.." She gulped, looking down nervously at her helmet.

"It doesn't take a detective to figure that one out, Karen." Izuku replied coldly, his response causing Karen to deflate as her guilt reached an all time high.

"Hey, lay off her, all right?" Kara chimed in. "I think out of all of us, she's taking this the hardest knowing her... confidence issues." Karen said nothing to deny that claim, as the blonde wasn't wrong.

"I'm not trying to insult her. Simply pointing out the obvious." Izuku sighed, running a hand through his hair as he leaned away from the edge. "Anyway, her answer doesn't give me a clear idea about what led up to the incident. So please, can one of you tell me what went on? I just... want to make sense of all this." Stressing himself out, Izuku eased up with the help of a good ole deep breath, calming down to actually listen to his friends.

Thankfully, someone had the courage to give the details, Diana raising her hand as she stepped up. "I will tell you." She said, her heart heavy upon remembering their earlier incompetence.

"..Go ahead." Izuku nodded, giving Diana the floor.

And so the Amazon told their side of the story, explaining to Spider-Man that after he left Sweet Justice to deal with the robots outside. They suited up and attacked the ones remaining inside. However, things quickly derailed as some of the girls happened to be lousy at it. Zee, for the most part, congratulated herself whenever she'd take out a bot, allowing other ones some chances to cause serious damage. Hell, she even hit Diana at one point with her magic. Karen was practically useless, having been too scared to fight back. And even when she did, she had no effect on the machines whatsoever. As for Kara, the bots weren't the only ones wreaking havoc. During the fight, she at times had complete disregard for the structure and ended up doing more harm than good when punching the bots around. Jessica being the pacifist she is, she didn't do much other than try to keep the bots contained, often failing to hold them whenever her attention went elsewhere. While Babs managed to take out a few, she was rendered useless as well when left with just her martial art skills after running empty on her more... destructive gadgets. With her lack of super strength, she barely made a dent in them. Much like Karen. The only thing Diana could be guilty of was failing to coordinate their efforts. Not to say she didn't try. She most definitely did, but the others girls didn't exactly make the job easy. As for the rest of the story, Izuku had seen it for himself.

"Unbelievable.." Izuku groaned, facepalming as he shook his head after hearing the cringe worthy tale. Oh, how badly he wanted to scold them for their ridiculous actions, or for some, lack there of. Now, he would be doing that right about now. But, seeing as they, and him, were suffering enough from their shame, he ultimately spared them.

"Are you... upset?" Diana asked worriedly, frowning as she watched Izuku. Her fellow females felt the same, managing to steer their own eyes towards him as they waited for a response.

"Of course I'm upset, Diana. Why wouldn't I be?" Izuku tiredly said, looking drained when he lowered his hand. "We... We failed.. We were supposed to save Sweet Justice from being destroyed. But in the end, what did we do? We made the job easier for those damn robots! Even if we beat them. Ugh, it's never supposed to be like this! And now those poor people lost their business! Their very livelihood, and it's all our fault!" He grunted irritably, turning around to lean over the roof's edge. The girls were stunned by yet another outburst from him, telling them that this isn't the first time he experienced this sort of painful failure.

"It's not like we meant for it to happen, Izuku.." Jessica commented weakly, her anxiety forcing her to brush her hair for comfort.

"I know! I..." Izuku sighed. "I know you didn't.. I'm sorry, it's just... when you've been doing this hero thing for as long as I have, you come to find out that failure has a wicked way of taking its toll on you... every single time. I'm sure I don't need to explain what I mean.. Besides, when I think about it, I really don't have the right to get up in your cases. It's not like I didn't mess up miserably when I first started this gig. But, those are stories for another time." Getting his composure back, Izuku straightened himself out. And before he could continue on with the subject, Izuku now noticed how dark it had gotten. "Oh, boy. Anyone have the time?" He anxiously requested, looking up to the moon curiously. With his phone in his bag, which he had hidden somewhere safe, he was unable to check the time himself.

Babs came to the rescue as she pulled her phone from her utility belt. "It's um... 9:49."

"Crap." Izuku groaned, rolling his eyes before putting his mask back on.

"Is something the matter?" Zatanna questioned.

"Oh, nothing much.. Just curfew." Izuku huffed, hopping to perch over the ledge. "As much as I hate to end things here, and like this, I don't have the time to continue unfortunately. So we'll have to put a pin in this for now.. I'm sorry again. For yelling at you guys." He apologetically said, feeling sorry for a whole other reason.

"Don't be sorry, bestie. We... kinda deserved the yelling anyway." Barbara chuckled awkwardly, rubbing her head with a flustered smile.

"Maybe." Spider-Man stifled. "Owning up to your mistakes. Good. Looks like you're on your way... bestie." He grinned under his mask as he shot out a web line, his remark making Batgirl beam as it told her that their friendship remained intact. "All right. We'll finish this conversation tomorrow. For now... let's all just go rest off today's stress." God knows it's what he needs right now. "Goodnight, girls. I'll see you at school." With that, Izuku leaped off the building and went on his way, web swinging to go pick up his bag before hopefully making it home in time. Waving him off, the girls silently watched as he got further and further away, disappearing when he zipped around a corner.

The night wasn't over just yet as shortly after Izuku had left, a certain warrior queen made her presence known to his unsuspecting friends. As for the purpose of her 'visit', it was to take her daughter back home.
