#CuriousAbsence

Present time..

He said it once before, and damn it, he'll say it again. Izuku loved being a superhero! Hanging below Spider-Man on the street light he perched over were the three criminals that caused the high-speed chase, tangled within an abundance of web that Izuku made just for them. Close by were the goons' escape vehicle, looking beat up as the hood was way dented, courtesy of Spidey himself.

"Let this be a lesson to you fellas. Crime! Never pays." Izuku quipped, raising the two duffel bags of cash the robbers had stolen. "At least, not when I'm around." He dropped the bags on the sidewalk once the police had caught up.

All that came out of the webbed criminals were muffled groans of distress, the trio doing all they can to free themselves. Try as they might, their sweet freedom was hopeless, and their arrests inevitable.

"Here you go, officers. A fresh batch of criminals waiting to be taken away. Oh, and the stolen money." Izuku said to the approaching officers, waving at the admiring citizens that came across the scene.

"Much appreciated, Spider-Guy. Your involvement definitely saved us a lot of time and trouble." Said one of the officers, ordering his partner to gather the cash.

"Actually, sir, it's uh... Spider-Man." Izuku corrected.

"Right, right. Sorry about that, Spider-Man." The officer replied, taking the correction lightheartedly. "Hey, good work on stopping that Luthor girl last night. If you and your hero friends haven't stopped her when you did, who knows what more damage she would've caused to the city."

"Ah, don't mention it." Spider-Man humbly waved off the gratitude. "We were just doing what was right. Nothing more, nothing less. I only wish that we'd stopped her before she damaged anything at all.." He said with some regret, looking down solemnly as he thought about the owners of Sweet Justice.

"Don't worry your head over it, lad. All that matters is that you tried your best. In the end, it's all that any of us can do. Besides, last I heard, LexCorp intends to fully pay for the damages and repair everything the girl destroyed. So, the pier and everything else will be up and running again in no time."

Hope immediately returned to Izuku, his masked eyes going wide. "You mean, Sweet Justice and everything else is... gonna be okay?"

"That's right." The officer nodded.

Immediately, a dreadful weight lifted from Izuku's heart, causing him to sigh with relief. "Oh, that's really great news, sir. Thank you for telling me. Honestly, you have no idea how much stress this whole situation has caused me and my team. Speaking of, I'm sure they'll be happy to hear about this."

"I hope so." The officer smirked. "Alright, how 'bout you go and get on out of here, huh? Me and my pals will take care of things from here."

As tempted as he was to help the officers out with his webbing, Izuku remembered that he still had school, which was starting soon as the crime had taken him some time to thwart. With some reluctance, Izuku left the issue to the police, nodding as he casted a web. "If you insist, officer. I have somewhere to be anyway. Have a good day!" He bidded farewell, jumping to webswing away.

"Supers nowadays are just getting younger and younger, I swear.." The cop muttered as he watched Spider-Man swing away for a moment, shaking his head with a smile before looking to the crooks. "Now, how do we get you lowlives down from there?"

After retrieving his school bag from the random rooftop he left it on, Spider-Man hastily made his way to Metropolis High as soon as he had its destination locked on his phone, still needing the device for guidance.

'7:44. Okay, I still got some time. If I hurry, I should make it in time to arrive with the girls. Hopefully.' Izuku continued to swing throughout the city, keeping a close eye on his phone for both the time and directions.

Eventually arriving on the school grounds, Izuku snuck behind one of the football field's bleachers to change back into his civilian clothes, doing so post haste. As he finished, he made sure to hide his costume underneath all his essential school items before zipping up his bag, smiling as he's ready to continue Izuku Midoriya's new day-to-day life.

With a pep in his step, Izuku whistled as he stepped out of his hiding spot, making his way towards the school after crossing the football field.

Crossing the drop off road, Izuku couldn't help but stop in the same exact spot he had stood the day prior, taking the opportunity to appreciate his new school's appeal now that he had a cool head. 'Dad was right, this place does look pretty neat.' He smiled, finally agreeing with his dad's opinion from yesterday. While busy with his gazing, he didn't pay mind to the bus pulling up behind him.

As soon as the bus doors opened, numerous students poured out one by one, and amongst them was Karen Beecher herself.

Being the last one out, Karen was about to go enter the school, but held off on that upon noticing Izuku. "Hey, Izuku! Good morning!" Her face lit up, happy to see a good friend so early in the morning.

Izuku perked up when hearing his name, turning to the little brunette who jogged towards him. "Hey, good morning, Karen!"

"So, did you hear the awesome news yet?" Karen asked excitedly, eager to talk about the online Daily Planet article she read shortly before arriving.

Izuku smirked, having a pretty good idea. "About how LexCorp is going to be cleaning up all of Lena's messes? Yeah, I may have heard about it from somewhere."

"That's the one." Karen giggled, the duo continuing their conversation while making their way inside. "Isn't it great though? I mean, last night we all were down in the dumps about Sweet Justice getting destroyed. But now, it won't be long until we're all hanging out there again! Ah! I'm so excited, and very relieved!"

Izuku chuckled at Karen's hype before responding. "Believe me, I know exactly how you feel."

"Now, I'm just curious on how pumped the others will be. Although, something tells me that Diana's gonna be way over the moon about it." Karen snickered, mentally picturing the Amazon's ecstatic reaction already.

"Well, she did say she wanted to celebrate our future victories at Sweet Justice." Izuku stifled, remembering how jubilant Diana was when tasting her 'Death by Chocolate', then shivering at the wicked sugar crash that followed shortly after. Honestly, the treat's name hit too close to home. "So, it wouldn't surprise me."

"I see you two are caught up on the good news. Excellent, that certainly saves us some time." A familiar voice spoke behind them, causing them to freeze before turning to the culprit.

"Morning~" Zee greeted as she waved her fingers at the duo, not alone as standing beside her were the rest of their super team. With the exception of Barbara.

"Good morning, guys!/Yo./Greetings, my friends!" Said Jessica, Kara and Diana, all in pleasant moods themselves.

"Hey, everyone." Izuku greeted back, his own good mood gaining a boost upon seeing more of his new friends/teammates. "I was just beginning to wonder where you guys were. Had me worried that we were being avoided."

"Aww~ Missing us already?" Zee teased, the group resuming their stroll through the school halls, but together this time. However, Zee upped her tease game by walking beside Izuku at his right, curling her arms around his strong one. Meanwhile, Karen remained at his left. What they didn't notice though was the disappointed look that flashed across Diana's face, a hint of jealousy in her eyes.

"Perhaps, a little." Izuku replied, much too chipper to get flustered over Zee's actions. "Can't blame a hero for liking his hero friends, after all. Plus, it helps that this day's proving to be a good one so far."

Initially, Zee was a tad surprised that Izuku didn't blush at the very least. But, she wasn't complaining as she did like his confidence as well. "Mmm, I suppose I can't." The violette smiled, keeping her hold on him despite her failed tease attempt.

"So, any of you ladies see Babs, yet?" Izuku asked, noticing they're still one hero short.

"We... cannot say that we have, no." Diana answered after they shared a curious look.

"She hasn't texted you or anything this morning, Greenie?" Kara questioned.

"Nope." Said Izuku as he checked his phone, frowning slightly as he received nothing of the sort from his bestie. "I did send her one earlier though. Just haven't gotten a response."

"Hmm, that's weird. Out of all of us, I figured you'd be the first one she'd talk to today." Jessica said.

"Yeah..." Izuku whispered, gazing at his phone with some concern.

"You guys don't think she's in trouble, do you?" Karen asked, sounding worried.

"Now, now. Let's not jump to conclusions." Zee chimed in. "I'm sure Barbara's fine. She can take care of herself. Maybe she just forgot to charge her phone last night and didn't have time to do it this morning. I mean, we all did get home at a pretty late hour, and no doubt we were all dead tired after what we went through. So, it's plausible."

"I guess so.." Izuku was uncertain about Zee's theory. She did raise a good point though, Babs can take care of herself. A few seconds later, he looked up from his phone and noticed his homeroom class coming up, making it just in time as the morning bell went off. "Anyway, here's mine and Diana's stop." He said as he stopped by the door, the girls stopping with him.

"It's a shame we all don't share the same homeroom. Would've been convenient given our recent... bonding." Jessica said.

"Yeah, does kinda suck now that you think about it." Kara shrugged.

"Mhm, a shame indeed." Zee sighed, shaking her head as she quickly got over it. "Well, cutie." She turned back to Izuku with a smirk on her lip. "As you did yesterday, be sure to take good care of our precious lady leader, mm'kay? She may still need it." The magician chuckled, her remark getting a bashful blush out of Diana and a confident smile from Izuku. Even though her exterior seemed calm, Zee couldn't help but feel somewhat envious of Diana for sharing the same homeroom as Izuku and Babs. But, of course, she - nor the others - wasn't about to make a big deal over it.

"You can count on me." Izuku responded.

"Good boy~" Zee winked, turning on her heel to head to her own homeroom, Karen, Kara and Jessica following her lead. "See you two at lunch!" She waved.

"Bye, girls!" Izuku waved back before turning to Diana. "Alright. Ready to begin your first official full day of high school, Diana?"

"I must admit, Izuku. I am a bit nervous about this.." Diana said, looking to her feet as she brushed her hair back, sounding just as unnerved as she appeared. "While I am eager to continue learning the ways of man's world, a part of me cannot help but feel... afraid. Afraid that I will repeat the same mistakes I have made thus far.." She frowned. "I do not wish to be a burden to anyone if that becomes the case... Not again.."

Not allowed to succumb to her fear, Izuku suddenly chopped the Amazon on the head, doing so gently.

Bewildered, Diana blinked as she looked at the boy to find him smiling warmly. "W...Wha-"

"You silly.." Izuku interrupted, shaking his head as he reeled his hand. "Have a little more faith in yourself, Diana. School is nothing to get too worked up about. It's not like there's a villian waiting for you around every corner. It's safe here. So, you can let your guard down just like you did at the pier last night. You managed to accomplish that then, didn't you?" Diana silently nodded. "Well, there you go. If you can do that there, than there's no doubt you can do the same here. You got this, Diana. Just try not to worry, okay?" He said reassuringly, giving the Amazon a gentle pat on the shoulder.

Taking his words to heart, Diana relaxed as much as she could, nodding once she felt ready. "..Okay."

"Good." Izuku smiled. "Now, come on. Don't want to be marked late when we're literally outside the room." He chuckled, taking the lead as he opened the door and entered the class.

Diana followed shortly, fixing her posture before heading inside.

Thankfully, they came at a good time as the teacher hadn't even begun roll call. The students that were already present talked amongst themselves, paying them no mind. That's good news as they didn't have to worry about getting all the attention just by walking in the room. Who doesn't hate moments like that, right?

As they made way to their desks over by the windows, Izuku became perplexed when noticing that Barbara hadn't even arrived yet. 'Okay, I'm really starting to get worried now.' He really hoped that Babs was just running late.

Before him and Diana completely crossed the room, he stopped when hearing someone speak his name.

"Oh, Izuku~!"

Izuku looked to the front row of desks beside him, smiling as it was none other than Felicia Hardy who called him. She wasn't alone as her good friend Mary Jane Watson sat beside her, greeting him with a simple nod as her cherry red lips donned a pretty smile. That gave him another reason to feel confused as he didn't remember seeing MJ there yesterday.

"Good morning, ladies." Izuku said politely as he approached Felicia's desk, unintentionally leaving Diana in the dark as she didn't know the two girls.

"Morning to you as well." Felicia grinned. "Looks like you managed to find your way around this time. Good for you. Now, I won't have to worry about you getting lost again." She giggled.

"You and me both, believe me." Izuku took the remark like a champ, then he looked to MJ curiously. "I had no idea you shared the same homeroom as us, Mary Jane. I don't recall seeing you here yesterday."

MJ stifled a laugh before giving a short and sweet explanation. "Yeah, sorry for the confusion there. Let's just say that my bed refused to let me go and make the bus yesterday. So, I ended up missing homeroom and a couple of the morning classes. Boy, was my mom not happy about that."

"Ah, got you." Izuku replied.

"I swear, MJ, you and those video games." Felicia sighed. "I always tell you not to get too caught up in them, but do you ever listen to me? Nooo. Sleeping in on the first day of the new school year.. I mean, come on." Further expressing her exasperation, Felicia shook her head into her hand.

MJ smirked, glancing at her friend. "Funny, my mom said the exact same thing. If you're expecting me to have any regrets... Sorry to disappoint ya."

"Mhm.." Felicia grunted, lowering her hand before looking to Izuku. "See what I have to deal with everyday, Izuku."

"I do see, and you have my sympathies." Izuku replied humorously.

"Eh, don't listen to her too much when it comes to me, Izuku. I swear I'm not that difficult to handle. Felicia just likes letting me get under her skin, is all. She's a masochist that way." MJ joked, repeatedly poking a deadpanned Felicia in the cheek.

"Well, it seems to be working out for you two if you're still best friends." Izuku chuckled. "I get it though. I actually have a similar relationship with one of my friends back in Japan, and we're still as close as ever. Guess you can say it's a good case of 'opposites attract'. Hence, why it works so well."

"Aww, would you look at that, Felicia. He understands our whole lovely dynamic." MJ giggled, looking to Izuku as she was beginning to like the fella more and more.

"Not sure if I'd call it lovely, but... it's certainly not boring." Felicia rolled her eyes, smiling all the while. She'd probably never admit it, but she did find enjoyment out of this crazy friendship of theirs; Even after all the times she moaned about MJ's actions. It was then that she noticed Diana standing behind Izuku, the powerful Amazon staring around patiently. "Um, Izuku?"

"Yes?"

"Is she with you?" Felicia pointed at Diana, quirking a brow as this was yet another new face she's seeing.

Realizing he forgot about his co-leader, Izuku facepalmed before turning to Diana. "Oh, shoot, right! Sorry Diana, didn't mean to forget you there." He said bashfully, paving way for Diana to make introductions.

Diana smiled at his cute embarrassment, forgiving his mistake. "It is not a problem, Izuku." She responded, stepping forward to come before Felicia.

Relieved by the forgiveness, Izuku proceeded to what he should've done earlier as he turned back to Felicia and MJ. "To answer your question, yes, she is with me. And like me, she's also new to Metropolis High. You know what, how about I let her introduce herself." With that, he gave Diana the floor.

"Greetings, fellow friends of Izuku." Diana greeted politely. "It is a pleasure to make your acquintance." She reached a hand towards Felicia, intent on shaking her hand first before moving onto MJ. "My name is Diana Prince. As Izuku stated, I am new to this school along with him. So, I hope we can get along just as you do with him."

"Wow, looks like Metropolis High's getting a buttload of newcomers this year." MJ whispered to the blonde.

"Appears so. So far, this is my third known one." Felicia responded before moving onto her own introduction, taking Diana's hand to gently shake. "Likewise, Diana. I'm Felicia Hardy. But please, call me Felicia. I hope your time at Metropolis High hasn't been troubling. I know someone had quite a bit of it on his first day here." At that, she glanced at Izuku with a playful smirk. As for Izuku, he couldn't take any offense as he just went flushed, knowing well that Felicia wasn't wrong.

"The day has yet to cause me any distress. So, I believe I am doing okay for the time being." Diana replied as she released the blonde's hand.

"Glad to hear it." Felicia nodded, then looking to her scarlet-haired friend as she gestured to her. "As for my friend here, this is-"

"Mary Jane Watson." Cutting her friend off, MJ spoke for herself as she extended a hand towards Diana. "Welcome to Metropolis High, Diana."

Appreciatively, Diana smiled as she shook MJ's hand. "Thank you."

"So, you an out-of-towner like our boy here? Or you just from another part of the city?" MJ asked, pointing to Izuku during her first question.

Izuku became slightly anxious as he hoped that Diana remembered her cover story.

Thankfully, she did. "I would be the former, actually." Diana affirmed. "I, myself, am not from America as I was born and raised in the land of Greece. So, I am quite new to America much like Izuku."

"Greece, you say?" MJ said. "Hmm, that makes sense actually seeing as you got this whole exotic beauty look going for you. Nice."

"Oh, I've always wanted to pay Greece a visit!" Felicia chirped. "If you don't mind me asking, how is it like over there?"

Diana blinked as she hadn't expected the interrogation, feeling slightly overwhelmed by it. "It is... pleasant." She 'calmly' guessed. "I cannot complain really." With Izuku, he had to hold back from sighing in relief.

"Pleasant, huh? Well, I'll take your word for it. Looks like I got a future trip to look forward to." Felicia chuckled, mentally marking the trip down on her bucket list.

"I hope you don't plan on excluding me from that action, missy!" MJ said playfully, raising a brow at Felicia.

"And risk you not letting me hear the end of it? I wouldn't dare, MJ." Felicia rolled her eyes. "I'd rather avoid going through all that torture, thank you very much."

"Smart girl." MJ grinned.

"I am sure that neither of you will be disappointed." Diana replied, relieved that her response was convincing enough, and that she gave the besties something to look forward to. She just hoped that Greece is as good as she said it was.

'Phew.. Way to think on your toes, Diana.' Izuku glanced proudly at Diana, feeling a lot better now that he didn't have to worry about her cover being blown.

"Well, we should probably let you guys get to your seats." MJ spoke. "Roll call's bound to start any second. So we can continue this getting to know each other session later on. But, I do have just one more question though. Izuku?"

Izuku perked up. "Yes?"

"Tell me, do you see this relationship with us going anywhere?" The redhead asked straight out, wagging a finger between her and Felicia as she smirked smugly. That alone told them that she knew what she had said.

Felicia's reaction had her going bug-eyed with surprise, her head whipping to look at MJ as she gasped. Her mouth opened to scold, but for some reason, words refused to come out. No matter how hard she tried to force it.

With Diana, she simply tilted her head in confusion; unsure of what to make of the inquiry.

Izuku's reaction was the most snicker worthy one. Judging by the red hue on his cheeks, the implication of MJ's question didn't go over his head. However, unlike Felicia's expression, his was one of blank shock. "...What?"

MJ covered her mouth, indeed snickering. "You weren't wrong. It is cute when you get him all flustered." She whispered to Felicia, satisfied that her 'trick' was such a success.

That took Felicia a moment to process. And upon doing so, she huffed at MJ's joke. Clearly, she wasn't amused.

"Mmm, actually, allow to rephrase so that there aren't any... misunderstandings." MJ deviously giggled, giving Izuku a teasing wink.

'Please do!' Both Izuku and Felicia thought, the former's brain just starting up again.

"What I mean to ask is, do you see yourself becoming friends with Felicia and I long-term?" The redhead asked, resting her chin over her fingers as they interlaced.

"Well, I uh... I would honestly hope so." Izuku answered, still somewhat flustered. "I mean, I know that we've only known each other for about a day, but I can already tell that you two are good and fun people to hang out with. So... yeah, I do see us becoming good friends in the long run." He finished with a smile, getting over his awkwardness. Although, his cheeks remained a little rosey.

Upon hearing that, Felicia's mood did a complete 180 as she looked to Izuku with weak shock momentarily, then smiled gladly as she felt the same way, but about him.

"Alright, sweet!" MJ chirped, lightly clapping her hands. "In that case, how about we get together at lunch later? You, us, and whoever else it is that you hung around with yesterday. Am I right in assuming that there's more than just you two and this Barbara girl Felicia mentioned yesterday in your group..?" The redhead asked, eyes narrowed as she pointed at the two co-leaders.

"You are." Said Izuku.

"How much more exactly? Just so we know how big a space we'll need and all that." MJ followed up, genuinely curious as to how many friends Izuku made in just one day of school. Heck, even Diana and Barbara seeing as they were in Metropolis High for a very short time, too.

"There's seven of us in total. So, there's four others." Izuku shrugged.

Now, MJ was about to think up a good spot in the cafeteria for all of them to sit together at during lunch, but then an... interesting thought occured to her. She grinned devilishly, as it's one that'd surely rile Izuku up just one last time before class started. Or, she hoped anyway. She looked to Diana for a moment before thinking about this Barbara character she'd yet to meet. Obviously, like herself, she's a girl based off her name alone. Plus, Felicia did give her a basic enough description of her fellow redhead already. With all the facts in mind, her next question was clear.

"Hmmm..." MJ hummed, building up tension as she now eyed Izuku with 'intrigue'.

Izuku gulped, the sudden gleam in MJ's eyes unnerving him. "Is... there something on my face?" He attempted to joke, awkwardly touching his face to 'inspect' it.

"No, no." MJ giggled, waving off his worry. "It's just that... I suddenly can't help but wonder; are all your friends in your little clique... girls?" And there's the kicker.

Instead of freezing up, Izuku only reacted with some bashfulness, scratching his cheek as It's not like he can deny it. "Um... p-perhaps.."

MJ gasped with exaggerated astonishment, chuckling as she reached to poke Izuku in the arm. "Izuku Midoriya, you playboy you~!"

"Ugh... Mary.." Felicia groaned at the obvious tease, cringing a bit as that one felt like it's pushing things.

'I... am lost..' Diana sweat dropped.

"W-What? No! That isn't at all what it sounds like, I swear! Like, at all! Everything is very much platonic between me and the girls, I promise you that!" Izuku exclaimed with a wicked blush, trying desperately to fix what he, at that moment, thought was a misunderstanding.

MJ's gut hurt as she struggled to fight back a fit of laughter, not wanting to draw too much attention. "H... Holy cow, Izuku! I'm just messing with you. Relax!" She snickered. "Geez, that's more of a reaction than I was hoping to get out of you. Hehehe! Totally worth it though." She said before calming herself down.

"Oh, it was... just a joke." Izuku huffed in relief. "Okay... Good. Sorry for uh... reacting the way I did. Heh. I just didn't want you getting the wrong image of me. I wouldn't dare take advantage of my female friends like that, I assure you."

"I know, I know. I can tell just by looking at you that you aren't that kind of guy. You're much too innocent looking. I just couldn't resist slipping in one last tease before letting you go off. So, that's my bad." MJ giggled one last time, unashamedly taking full responsibility.

'Welp, Felicia did try to warn me about her, I guess. I blame myself for not really taking her seriously. Lesson learned.' Izuku sighed internally.

"Anyway," Felicia finally interjected, briefly glaring at MJ to keep her quiet while she took the reins of their side of the conversation, looking to Izuku with a smile once the redhead nonchalantly complied with her silent demand. "Back to our actual question; how about it, Izuku? Care to join us for lunch? If you're worried about MJ, I promise that I'll do all I can to keep her in line. I believe she made you suffer enough for one morning." She chuckled.

"Ha! Good luck. That's all I gotta say." MJ challenged.

"Ah, hush you." Felicia stifled.

His composure restored, Izuku nodded as he ultimately saw no harm in joining up with the two beauties later on. He knew how they both operated now, so he hoped to use that to his advantage. Believe him, he intends to get back at MJ. Even though she may be a harder nut to crack than Felicia. Good thing he's always been a determined fella. Now, he just hoped they'd get along with the rest of his super friends.

"Sure, I see no problem then if that's what you're promising." Izuku grinned. "Diana?" He looked over his shoulder at the Amazon, wanting to hear her own decision. "You okay with going to spend the lunch hour with them later?"

"I have no objections." Diana nodded with some enthusiasm.

"Great!" He turned back to Felicia and MJ. "We'll be there. And don't worry, I'm sure the others wouldn't mind joining as well. They're quite the socialites themselves now that I think about it. Well, maybe except for one, but she'll warm up to you once she's comfortable enough."

"Alright, guess that settles it then!" Felicia chipperly said before noticing the teacher start to put his phone away with haste, finally finished with the game he was lost in once realizing the time. "Oh, looks like our teacher's finally coming to." Once it was pointed out, Izuku, Diana and MJ couldn't help but give the man a quick look themsleves.

"Get Skedaddling, you two. We'll see you at lunch." MJ then calmly urged, kindly shooing them away for their own sake.

"Right. See you two later." Izuku said with some urgency, making his way over to his seat asap. "Come on, Diana." He said upon his departure, waving Diana to follow him.

Diana immediately complied, giving their new friends a farewell nod before following her co-leaders lead. The girls themselves returned the gesture.

Once the teacher gathered his bearings and silenced the class, he proceeded onto roll call. In the end, while the majority of the class appeared to be present, there was one student that hadn't been called at all. And that concerned Izuku more than he already was as he glanced at the empty desk beside him.

"Um, Excuse me? Mr. Hammond." Izuku called with a raised hand, looking mighty confused at the adult upfront.

As expected, he immediately garnered everyone's attention, flinching once all eyes locked on him.

"Ah, Izuku... Midoriya." The teacher looked back to his class roster, ensuring that he had the right name. "Yes, what is it?"

"Um, apologies, but I couldn't help but notice that you hadn't called Barbara Gordon's name. Is there... a reason for why she was excluded?" Izuku asked as he lowered his hand.

"Oh, right. Ms. Gordon." The man adjusted his glasses. "I'm afraid that she won't be joining us today due to her not feeling well. Her father called earlier to let us know. So, I had already marked her down as sick."

"Ah, I... I see.." Izuku and Diana frowned at this news, having not expected this unfortunate turn of events. As for Diana, she was seated directly behind Izuku.

"Is that all you wish to know?" Said the teacher.

"Yes sir. Carry on." Izuku nodded, sighing once he went silent.

And so, the teacher did just that.

Quietly and carefully, Izuku took out his phone to check his messages one more time, hoping, but not really expecting anything to be waiting for him. However, color him glad as he actually did get a reply from Babs about six minutes ago. Huh, must've been too distracted with Felicia and MJ to have felt the vibration.

His jubilance was short-lived though as it was quick to be replaced with puzzlement, Barbara's message throwing him for a loop as it didn't have the tone of an ill person in the slightest. Plus, there was also the message itself.

Hey, Bestie! Sorry if it seemed like I was ghosting you! Not at all what I was trying to do! lol Whoops! xp And before you ask, no, I'm not actually sick. Just REALLY needed to skip school just for today. Look, call me when you get the chance, and I'll explain myself then! Oh, and make sure the others are with you! They'll wanna hear this, too. Okay? Okay! TTYL, bestie! ;3

By the time he finished reading the text, Izuku was beyond baffled as his brain was flooded with many questions, as it should.

"What the f-"
