Drawman98: Great chapter. Glad to see Amity realizing her past mistakes. Curious to see if she does something about it when she goes back to the Boiling Isles. Keep up the good work!
Writer: Thank you. Yeah I still wanted to have Amity grow during her time in the human realm, and we'll just have to see what she wants to do.
asmodeus666: Another awesome chapter keep up the awesome job, i cant wait for more
Writer: Thank you very much. I'll keep on making chapter, even if it takes a while.
OMAC001: Honestly, I suspected Camila was signing Amity up for school. Can't wait to see what else Luminty gets up to in the Human Realm!
Writer: Im glad that someone figured out what I was planning. Just wait for upcoming chapters for more human realm adventures.
Knightrise: Another great chapter and Odalia is acting SUS (sorry) when she said that she'll know someone that can "find" her
Writer: SUS!? ඞ Lol, Thank you very much. You gonna have to wait and see what Odalia has planned. ;)
Helljumper206: Aw young love. Though Amity's mom is giving me some bad vibes.
Writer: Well it wouldn't be a fanfic without shipping. Odalia's up to no good thats for sure.
VRM: While it likely hasn't been long enough, how do you think Hexside
(particularly Boscha and Willow) would react/deal with Amity's disappearance?
Writer: You're just gonna have to wait for what Amity decides to do. :) NGL had a hard time answering this question. Wasn't sure to answer or keep you on your seat for you to read.
OK, hey guys. Sorry for a delayed release. It was a busy week for me and was only able to work on the story in short bursts.
But anyways. I don't know how to thank you guys. 2600+ views. I never expected this story to blowup. This was meant to be a little short 2am idea and now here we are. Well let's see how this adventure goes. And once again Thank you!❤️
*riiiiiiing*
"Alright, that concludes today's class," the teacher said as she closed her book, "Remember kids, study for this week's test." A flurry of kids talking and packing up filled the room.
Everyone was in a hurry to finish school and head home, and relax. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for two students.
Edric and Emera were the first people to leave the classroom. They grabbed their items and made their way through the school. "We need to get to the Owl house quickly, the sooner we get these stupid tasks done, the sooner we get Amity." Edric said walking at a fast pace with his sister.
"Yeah, but I'm not looking forward to whatever tasks the owl lady gives us, or talking to that house demon," Emera responded and they both shuddered at the memory of yesterday's encounter.
They sped through the market to reach the edge of town, where the owl house lay. As they approached the house, Hooty came out to greet them, "Hey friends! Did you come to talk to little ol' me?"
"H-Hey Hooty. We just need to see Eda. Can you let us in," Emera said trying to get around Hooty, but he jumped in front of her, "Are you sure you don't want to know about myyy day?!"
Emera turned to Edric, giving him a 'help me' look. After thinking for a moment Edric put his finger into the air and summoned a small butterfly.
Immediately Hooty snapped to it, "Oh my gosh! A bug!" and went chasing after it. Without skipping a beat Ed and Em hurried into the house. With the door closed behind them, the twins both sighed in relief.
"You two have a good head on your shoulders."
Both Edric and Emera looked up to see Eda standing there in loungewear and bunny slippers, with a cup in one hand and a big sack in the other.
"Okay, now that you're here," Eda said as she thrust out the sack to them, "I need you to make my deliveries."
The twins hear the clinking of bottles in the bag. "Wait, you make potions?" Edric asked.
"Pft, yeah. What do you think I got all my money from scamming?" Eda crosses her arms, "Well, you're wrong. That only accounts for seventy percent of it. Gotta make the rest somehow."
Edric and Emera started questioning the Owl Lady's 'fearsome' rumors. Edric walked up and grabbed the sack of potions, and started towards the door.
"Fine, we'll go do these deliveries," Edric said as they started to leave, but before he shut the door he said, "but please start giving us answers."
Eda stood there as the door shut. She thought to herself for a bit, before King walked in. "Oh, did those two leave already? I was gonna give them a list of stuff I wanted," King said walking up to Eda.
After Eda said nothing for a bit, she scooped up King and summoned her staff. "Weh! Eda what are you doing?" King said, looking up at Eda while in her arms.
"We're leaving." She said, throwing the door open. "Where? Oh, are we getting ice scream?" King said as he was placed on Eda's staff.
Eda jumped on her staff.
"No, we're looking for answers."
-Bonesborough Residential area-
"I'm telling you. We need to forget about the Owl Lady and start looking on our own." Edric said as he placed a potion package at a front door.
"Well, we already tried that. And it got us nowhere," Emera argued back. Edric plopped the bag and himself on a curb. "I know that. I just thought the 'fearsome' Owl Lady would be more help," Edric picked up a rock and chucked it across the street.
Emera sat down next to him, "Yeah, I know, but it's not like an answer to our problems is gonna hit us in the face," just as Emera finished her sentence, a piece of paper hit her in the face.
"Ah, what the heck," she said, peeling the paper off. She grabbed it and put it in front of her, Edric leaned in and read the paper.
"Got something missing?! Well come on down to 'Finding Adrift Kollectibles Enterprise' Today!"
"Well that's convenient," Emera said reading the flyer.
"This is our chance. If Eda isn't gonna give us answers then maybe these people can." Edric said. Emera stared at the paper for a moment pondering, then nodded agreeing, "Okay let's go see these guys"
They both stood up, leaving the potions behind hidden in an alleyway, and started making their way towards a new opportunity.
-Earth, couple of hours before-
The doors of the school burst open as a stream of kids flooded out. Of the many kids, two stayed behind, waiting to figure out what to do next.
While they waited Luz asked, "So, how was your first day?" "Good but kind of hectic," Amity responded. Luz rubbed the back of her neck, "Yeah, sorry about that."
"No problem, help me realize some things. And hey, at least Amanda didn't mess with us the rest of the day," Amity reassured.
Luz was just about to say something when her phone went off. She looked down and grabbed her phone from her pocket.
"I got a message from my mom," Luz said looking at her phone, "It's going to be a while till she gets off work, so we need to find something to do."
"Well, I'm not sure what humans do for entertainment so…" Amity said. "Oh, I know," Luz said standing up, "there's a new Azura movie that just came out. We can go see that!"
Amity stood up with Luz, excited, "Really!?, Let's go see it!"
"Ok, let's go," Luz said as she started walking off. Amity followed next to her asking,
"Oh yeah. What's a movie? "
Ed and Em pushed the door open to the shop and a little bell rang on the door above them.
"Be there in a moment," they heard a voice say in the back.
They looked around the small business. It was full of knickknacks, odd for a detective business, but they didn't care. What wasn't odd on the Boiling Isles.
"I hope this works," Ed whispered to his sister. "Yeah, if not we have to go back to Eda," she replied.
Just then a multi-armed monk walked into the room. "Welcome, my children, my name is Master Wortlop. What brings you into my business?"
Ed started speaking, "Well, to start…," but Emera pushed in front of him, cutting him off, "We need to find our sister," She held out the flier, "and this says you can find lost items."
The monk scratched his beard letting out a small, "hmm."
Now it was Edric's turn to speak again, "Please help us. If it's money you want, we're Blights. We can sort that out."
Wortlop's eyebrow twitched ever so slightly, then he put his hands together, "No need my children. No payment necessary. I just ask you to spread the word of my business."
The twins looked at each other skeptical for a bit then looked back at Master Wortlop.
"Deal," they both said.
Wortlop smiled, "Perfect, let's get started," he said before clapping all his hands, summoning a cauldron between him and the twins, causing them to jump out of the way.
Wortlop rose two of his hands into the air as a flurry of random knick-knacks surrounding them flew into the cauldron. After everything settled down, he looked at the twins and said, "All we need is a strand of the person's hair."
"But we don't have any," Edric said to the monk. "A piece of someone related by blood shall work too," Wortlop said.
Edric looked at Emera, "Ok, let's figure this out with a game of.. OW!" Edric yelped as Emera plucked a strand of hair off his head and dropped it into the cauldron.
Suddenly smoke rose from the cauldron and filled the room. Ed and Em could only see each other's faint silhouette and a growing light coming from the cauldron.
Master Wortlop's voice boomed through the room,
"Beware, for this is not for the weak,
To find the one which you seek,
You must travel to knee's peak!"
"The knee? Is that where she is?" Edric asked.
"Yes, now go! You must be quick!" Wortlop warned. A path in the smoke opened up for Emera and Edric showing them the door. Wasting no time they both hurried to leave, "Thank you, Master Wortlop!" Edric said as the door closed behind them.
As soon as the door closed, Master Wortlop said to himself,
"What good, naive, children."
Luz and Amity had walked to the theater hoping to kill some time, and after a couple of hours of 'Azura, Journey to Witch Mountain' they left.
"Oh my gosh, that was so good," Luz said as they walked into the afternoon light. "What did you think of the movie?" Luz looked at Amity as she stared off into the distance.
In a softer tone, Luz asked, "Amity, you ok?" Amity took a deep breath and then looked at Luz, "Yeah I'm good. Just a little homesick, you know?"
Luz paused for a moment before saying, "Yeah, I wish we knew how to get you back home," Luz said sadly. Amity put a hand on Luz's shoulder, "Hey no need to be sad, I still like it here. It allows me to forget the pressures from back home," Amity reassured.
"Pressures?" Luz asked. Amity brought her hand back to her side, "It's kind of a long story," she said.
"Well we got a long walk home, so I'm here to listen," Luz said. "If you want," she added.
Amity smiled, "It's fine" Luz and Amity started their walk home in the fading light. "Let's see, a lot of my annoyances come from my siblings," Amity began to but was stopped from saying more when Luz exclaimed, "Wait, you have siblings!?"
Amity giggled a bit, "Yeah, I do. And don't get me started with my mother…"
Edric and Emera shuffled through the snow on top of the knee. They wasted no time heading towards the knee, making sure to grab warm clothes from home. Now here they were on the cold peak of the knee.
"So what now?" Emera asked. "I don't know. We can either go looking or stay here and wait," Edric replied. "Well," Emera said sitting down on a fallen log, "I'm going to wait, my legs are pooped."
Edric sat down next to her. They both sat there letting their legs rest, but only after a couple of minutes, a familiar voice called their names.
"Ed? Em? Is that you?"
Edric and Emera looked behind them to see Amity in tattered clothes. "Well that was quick," Edric said to Emera. "Yeah no kidding," she responded and then said to Amity, "What have you been doing up here?"
"I got kidnapped and they held me up here, I just escaped," Amity said with her voice quivering.
Ed and Em looked at each other and then back at Amity. Edric said in a soft voice, "Amity I'm so glad you're…pfft." Suddenly Edric started bursting out laughing. "Sorry, sorry I couldn't hold it," Emera started laughing with him.
"Ed, Em what's so funny?" Amity asked.
Ed and Em immediately stopped laughing and stared down Amity, Emera summoned a ball of flame and said, "Cut the crap."
Amity staggered back, "W-What do you mean?" Edric stepped closer asking threateningly "Where's our sister?". "I'm right here," Amity said, now scared. Suddenly a flame hit a tree next to her.
Amity's voice immediately changed to a higher-pitched nasally voice, "Ok, ok we'll talk! Please don't hurt us." Amity's clone released a puff of smoke and revealed four goblin-like creatures standing on top of each other.
Emera walked up to one and grabbed it by the scruff of its shirt, "Where is she?" She asked. The goblin creature raised its hands in fear, "We don't know, we don't know! We were just trying to trick you guys and get some money!"
Emera stared at him before dropping him into the snow, "Let's go Edric, they are a waste of time," she said as she started walking off. "Wait, how did you figure us out?" one of the creatures asked.
Edric turned around, "We're illusionists, it's what we do. Plus that illusion at the shop, pretty bad not gonna lie," He started to walk off but then stopped, "Oh yeah one more thing."
Edric summoned a fireball and flung it in the direction of the goblins. They all ducked in fear as it flew over their heads and into the forest. "You better start running, the slitherbeast doesn't like to play," and with that Edric summoned an illusion spell and they both disappeared.
A loud roar surrounded the goblins as they all rethought their life choices.
Edric and Emera closed the door as they walked into the Owl House. Inside they saw the Owl Lady and her demon covered in dirt and hair disheveled.
"Woah, what happened to you two?" Emera asked. Eda looked at the two and said, "I don't want to talk about it." King jumped to his feet, "Want do you mean, 'don't want to talk about it'? You almost sold me off."
Eda put a hand on King's head pushing him to sit down, "Anyways, I can ask the same. What happened to you guys? Where's my snails?"
The twins both looked away in shame. Eda sighed and smoothed her hair out, "Well, whatever. I got some answers for you two."
Edric and Emera perked up. "Do you know where she is?!" Edric asked.
Eda put her hands to calm them down, "Alright calm down you two. And to answer your question. Yes, and no." They looked at her confused
Eda went on, "Well she's in the human realm, and at this point she could be anywhere in that realm, she could even be dead."
Edric and Emera went wide eyed and grabbed each other's hands in comfort.
Hoping for the best for their little sister.
