Earth 1, Star City

Nikki was enjoying this - she was moving Chronos towards the nearest pillar, which was proving an inadequate cover for a vigilante type figure.

Rene was firing and trying to figure out a safe way to retreat at the same time. Felicity couldn't see any option except to get the others to try and distract Chronos.

Thea and Roy, who were nearby, were trying to distract Chronos with arrows, Curtis with his spheres. None were having any effect. Dinah Drake emerged from behind another pillar and began firing at Chronos' back. He took no notice of that either.

Felicity gasped as she heard Leonard Snart's voice - inside her head. Knowing it was possible and experiencing it were too quite different things. She wasn't sure that she liked the reality but what he was telling her was important. Of course, she thought back, despite all the high-tech, Chronos' suit had an obvious flaw. A flaw that was present in all hard materials such as metal.

Let the others know, he told her, and then he was gone. There had been a touch of weariness in his voice that worried her a bit, but she began to relay his message to the others. Get ready to counter-attack. You'll know when.

Rene continued backing towards the nearest door, to the accompaniment of gunfire, arrows and blasts from the others. Come on, he thought urgently.

Nikki had her first target vigilante in the sights of Chronos' visor. She had never understood the enjoyment people found in combat video games - now she did. She was going to pick her targets off one-by-one. She knew that Felicity Smoak would soon open the exit doors to the building - some of her targets were going to escape -but not this one. She began to move Chronos' arm into firing position.

Then what she was seeing through the visor abruptly tilted as the suited figure lurched to one side. The suit's controls were barely able to compensate for whatever had happened. Then the controls on her board began to go haywire. Malfunction? She was tempted to strike the board with her fist - then realised the inexplicable truth. Chronos appeared to have walked into some kind of freezer - the temperature on his lower suit limbs was falling - no, it was bottoming out!

She tilted Chronos' visor towards his legs and saw that they were being hit by some kind of white stuff. One of the defenders had a different kind of gun. The man holding it was lying on the floor, with a woman crouched astride him, on all fours. It looked ridiculous, but Nikki wasn't in the mood for humour any more.

She moved Chronos' weapon arm and fired at the couple, the man mostly. She felt a flash of cold anger when the gun's blast veered off course, harmlessly striking the wall. So - that woman was the psychokinetic!

''Go for it!'' Felicity shouted to the Arrows/Legends.

Unnoticed by Nikki, Dinah Drake gave a tight grin and lowered her gun's sights. She aimed directly for Chronos' left ankle, which had been hit hardest by the cold gun. The suit shattered at that point. Chronos let out what sounded like a pained roar - although it was muffled by the visor - maybe his ankle was broken too?

Ray - in direct response to seeing what Nora was doing - had swooped down to cover her, his compressed light bolts impacting against Chronos' legs. They seemed to be adding to the damage Dinah had caused.

Leonard was still aiming at Chronos' legs. Everyone who had a gun was now aiming for the same target - John, Rene, Dinah, Rip, even Nate. Chronos went down, his leg armour too broken to support him.

Nikki's bio-sensors told her that the Mick part of Chronos was in considerable pain, but that hardly figured in her plan. She still had control of Chronos' upper limbs and could still bring the main weapon to bear. She began to re-angle that towards the original target. Then a blast of the white stuff struck the weapon head on. It shattered, taking part of the suits arm with it. On her control board, lights began to flicker and go out.

Chronos was done. This Chronos. She could use the data from this fight to make a far better version. She switched her attention to the remainder of her other forces.

''Pull back'' she told them. ''If you have a chance to take anyone out, do so. But the overall aim is to escape.''

Lying on the floor, Mick/Chronos was aware that he was no longer being fired on - either with the cold gun or with bullets. He also knew that Nikki was gone. Once again, he'd been abandoned. Even more helpless than before, for his legs were broken - he didn't know in how many places and his right hand was gone. Rip Hunter had given Snart his hand back but he doubted that would happen in his case. His world had narrowed down to pain and revenge. He waited for his chance.

This part of the fight was over. Oliver led the Arrow team to do a sweep of the building, clearing out the other attackers.

The Legends began to converge on the downed Chronos figure, most of them uncertain as to what to do with him - Mick was the only one with a definite idea.

''I'll let Sara know it's over'' Kendra told Carter, who nodded.

Kendra knocked on the door and called out her name before she opened it, which was just as well. When she did go into the room, she saw that Sara's gun was still pointed in her general direction.

''It's over. We've won'' she told her friend.

She was glad to see that Laurel was now pretty much conscious. The older Lance sister began o get up. Her sibling put her gun away and reached out to support her.

All three women looked round, startled, as the sound of a gunshot came from the room where the fight had taken place.
