The next morning, Olivia woke up alone in bed in the room they were landed at Middleton Place. She got dress and got downstairs to eat breakfast. She walked on Mr Middleton and his wife entertaining a few guests, mostly wives whose husbands were patrolling. Olivia sat down and wished she could drink a flat white from Starbucks.

She listened with one ear and left as soon as she was done eating. She walked outside to enjoy the beautiful location.

"Mrs Tavington, can I walk with you for a moment?" a man behind her asked.

She turned around and didn't know the man wearing civilian clothing. His short hair seemed out of place, almost like Andrew and Matt.

"Of course. Have we been introduced?" she asked.

"Not yet, I am John Bailey, at your service."

"And what service are you offering?"

"A way back home," he said.

She stopped straight away and looked at the man. What the fuck is happening, she thought.

"I was told you are not from here. I need to know when you are from. How did you get here? This is very important," he said as he grabbed strongly her arm.

"I do not know what you are talking about," she lied, not knowing if she could trust the man.

"Are you here alone?"

"What?"

"I am a professor at NYU working on time travels. For my researches, it is imperative you talk to me. This could change the world. We could change the world," he pleaded, squeezing her arm enough to make her whine.

"I should get back; my husband must be arriving soon. He will be looking for me. If you will excuse me," she said, escaping his grip.

She walked as fast as she could and ran the stairs to get in her bedroom. Once she closed the door, she felt her heart beat in her head, her breathing shortened, her hands started to shake. In this century, she didn't trust anyone but her husband and her friend. She never wanted her William next to her as much as this moment. She wanted to talk to Matt too about this John Bailey.

William came back only before dinner. He entered his bedroom, looking for a change of clothes and a clean up since he had been riding all night. Olivia was asleep on the bed, fully dress. This is odd behavior, he thought. He sat down next to her and shook her shoulder to wake her up. She rose in a hurry, looking like she just woke up from a nightmare. When her eyes recognised her husband, she hugged him tightly.

"You smell so bad," she said, getting her face away from his coat.

"Well, hello to you too. What were you doing asleep at this hour of the day? You don't look all right, my love," he asked, worries in his voice.

"Do you know a man named John Bailey?"

"He is the special counsellor to Lord General Cornwallis."

"Do you remember how long he has been?"

"Probably since the beginning of the summer, maybe before," he thought. "Well, around the time I met you at Sutherland Manor."

She ran her hands over her face.

"You know you can tell me anything, Liv. What is it?" he placed his fingers on her chin, making her look at him directly.

"I think he is also from 2022. I don't like the man, I have this weird feeling. I need to talk to Matt as soon as possible," she replied.

"Matt? As in Matthew Brown?"

She realised she always managed to keep Matt out of her story and it never came upon the topic after the only night where she told him everything about herself. Furthermore, he had never questioned her after.

"Yeah, I didn't tell you at first because if you were to send me to rot in a cell or burn at the stake, I would not bring Matt with me; he would have a chance to survive here."

"Any other things you want to add right now, so I will have the whole story?"

"Yeah. We were actually three in the car when we crashed. Me, Matt and Andrew. I saw Andrew at Middleton Place; he was in the bedroom before the ball."

He sighed and rose from the bed. He opened the door and yelled on a private in the hallway to fetch Matt.

"Is there any other things I should know? I would appreciate you don't keep surprises for another time," he asked as he took his coat off and untie his neckwear.

She stood up and hugged him tightly.

"I'll let Matt tell you the rest," she whispered as she felt his arms wrapped behind her.

Moments later, Matt made his way in the room and found the couple tangled together.

"Brown, thank you for joining us," Tavington said as Olivia sat on the bed.

"Colonel," Matt replied, nodding his head.

"My dear wife told me a very interesting story on our wedding night, about you, her and another man. You all are from the future. I need you to fill the blank she left out. I don't want any more lies in this room," he said as he saw Matt swallowed hard.

"Can I speak to Olivia in private before?" Matt asked.

"Matt, there nothing you can't say in front of him. I told him so many things already."

"You told him? Are you crazy?"

"Brown, you will watch the way you speak to my wife."

"Matt, stop being such a baby. A man approached me earlier today and asked me if I wanted a way back home. He wanted to know when I was from."

"You mean there might be more people than us three? Who was this man?"

"John Bailey, Cornwallis special advisor."

"Oh god, I know this man. He works at NYU. I recently read articles he wrote about time travel. I guess he was right."

"Is he reliable? Can we trust him? I managed to escape from his questions, but I am sure he knows about me."

"I have never met him on campus, I'll have to talk to him and make my own opinion."

"Campus?" Tavington inquiered.

"I am a history professor, specialized in this specific period of time. 1775 to 1781 exactly."

"Does that mean the war ends in 1781? You know the outcome of every battle?" Tavington enquired.

"Yeah, but I cannot tell you anything, otherwise, we will be changing the future."

"Matt, have you talked to Andrew yesterday? Where is he?" Olivia interrupted.

"He is with the colonial militia. He said he will be back. He wanted us to leave with him."

"Leave?" Tavington questioned.

Both friends stayed silent. Matt was enjoying himself in here. Olivia was happy. Why would they want a way back to their time if it was possible?

"I'll try to talk to Mr Bailey. Colonel, can you make an introduction? I'll see what his intentions are. Until then, let's chill out," Matt said. "Heum, let's act like nothing is going on," Matt corrected himself when he saw Tavington raised an eyebrow. "And thank you, I am sure we can trust you with all this," he said as he shook Tavington's hand.

"Of course, Olivia has my protection now. Nothing will happen to her. Bordon will remain with her when I won't be by her side. Let this be clear; it is not because your friend is in the militia that I won't attack the Ghost anymore."

"I can stay with her instead of Bordon," Matt asked.

"I don't want you getting caught in yours lies. You are not from here and it may show. Bordon is a better marksman and he already knows for Olivia."

"He saw my driver's licence," Liv added when she saw Matt's shock expression.

Matt nodded his head before he took his leave. Even if a way home was possible, would he want to go?
