Ava Sharpe was sitting in her office doing little more than brooding when someone knocked on her door.

She assumed it was the Director - or more likely Agent Diggle - come to remind her, however tactfully, that she had a job to do. She couldn't sit here forever, thinking about this mess that Evelyn seemed to have got herself into.

''Come in''

She grabbed the nearest sheaf of documents, trying to look as if he'd been doing something with them.

It was a stranger who entered the room. A smartly dressed black woman in early middle age.

''I'm Sandra Watson'' she announced, extending her hand.

Ava had pretty much guessed that. She tentatively extended her own hand in return. Was her part of A.R.G.U.S. going to come under this woman's eagle-eyed scrutiny?

''May I?'' her visitor indicated one of the chairs facing Ava's desk.

''Please do.''

Watson took a moment to make herself comfortable, before giving Ava a direct, not unfriendly, gaze.

''I really hoped to be able to talk to you about your cousin, Evelyn.''

''Yes?'' Ava asked, cautiously. Evelyn might be impulsive, but she was the only close family Ava had.

'''She's very young. She may not realise how much trouble she's getting herself into.''

So that was the play? I might go part way down that road, Ava thought, for Evelyn - but I'm not going to make this easy for Watson.

''She is young but she's tough and competent. She handled being undercover in Savage's organisation very well.''

Watson appeared not to know about that. Ava filled her in on the details.

The other woman's eyes abruptly hardened. ''I really don't have time to beat about the bush. I'm offering the maximum possible leniency for your cousin if you can persuade her to return and give up the location of these 'Legends'.''

''How lenient?''

''Well, I can see that she's not implicated in any murder enquiry. A slap on the wrist, a couple of months suspension. Being fired at the very worst.''

What this really was, Ava thought, was a kind of blackmail. Watson had a reputation for this kind of tactic - help me hunt these people down or I''ll see that your teenage cousin gets the book thrown at her.

''Of course, I'll do everything I can to help my cousin.'' That was certainly no lie.

''Good'' Watson got up. Evidently the conversation was over. ''Let's just hope it doesn't take too long''

Cisco had persuaded Lisa to make a slight detour to STAR Labs at the start of their current date. He needed to check if something had arrived, he told her, which was true enough.

When Lisa saw what the 'something' was, she strode forward and slapped him, hard, which made Cisco tense up. He lifted his hands slightly, afraid that he might have to use his meta-power.

''OK'' that was due.'' The newcomer's voice was as calm as usual. ''I've missed you too, sis.''

''Jerk'' she said, then abruptly hugged him. ''Where have you been?''

''I'll show you some time. In the meantime, I - we - need you to do something for us.''

''And you think you have problems with Dante?'' she remarked to Cisco. ''What?''

When the unfamiliar young woman called at the house, Lily thought she was there to sell something.

She was thinking of the best way to say, 'No thanks' when the newcomer remarked ''Grey sent me.''

Lily blinked. The only person who called her father 'Grey' was Jax. She hesitated for a moment. Her mother and Mrs Jackson were both inside. They'd had visits from the police - and others - and both the older women, although resilient, had been pretty upset. This stranger might be genuine, or she might be another, more devious, snooper.

The stranger suddenly leaned towards her slightly, lowering her voice almost to the point of a whisper. ''I'm Lisa Snart. Let me in and I'll tell you all something important.''

Lily looked at her. There were resemblances to the male face that had appeared all too often on the news bulletins lately - tell the police. Do not approach. Etc.

She took a chance and let her in.

Once the four women were together, Lisa said ''Hold on.'' She took ma small device out of her pocket and began to walk around the room, holding it out in front of her.

Lily caught hold of her arm and pointed silently towards a table lamp. Lisa nodded and moved the radio close to the bug, tuning it to a music station. Lily moved across the room, picked up an ornament and bundled it into the corner cupboard, shutting the door.

''Now we can talk'' Lily said and told the other two women who the new arrival was.

''I've come to take you to Martin and Jax' 'Lisa told them.

The surveillance team had seen the visitor arrive at the Stein's house. One of them had taken a quick photo on his phone and sent it to HQ.

There were a limited number of people who would be of interest, so she was quickly identified as being one of them - Lisa Snart.

By that time, it was evident that they weren't going to hear anything but music and very muffled voices from the house.

''Go in'' Control told them. ''Make sure you get the Snart woman.''

But, when they broke into the house, there was no one there.
