Mars

General Laurel Lance was weighing up her options.

She'd woken in the middle of the night to find three intruders in her room. She had fought like the blazes but in the end they'd had overcome her. They were top-notch at unarmed combat, she admitted.

The next thing she remembered was waking up in this cell. Savage was on one side of her, Cassandra and Nikki in adjacent cells on the other.

One of her assailants had come to see her. Initially to tell her that she'd fought very well. There had been more than a touch of admiration in his expression.

''We're on Mars?''

Lance'd initial reaction to what he went on to tell her had been scepticism, then she took into account that she'd been knocked out -her companions drugged - during the journey to wherever. Different dimensions, different Earths - going to a neighbouring planet would be routine by comparison.

So, the leader of her captors was a General who became a King. His fleet were the last survivors of their species. They were humanoid- identical to humans in appearance. They were far more advanced technologically than the occupants of Earth. They plainly considered themselves superior to humans. The last was something she could relate to.

Savage had recruited her and then he'd rescued her. Offered her the chance to get over the humiliation of being on the losing side by helping his victory. She would always be grateful for that. But following him had led her to this - prisoner of what appeared to be a more capable leader.

Perhaps it was time to think again.

''What did you do with Alice Murphy?'' Vandal Savage demanded.

He was looking through the bars of his cell, glowering. He had nothing but loathing for this creature that had somehow taken Alice's' place.

The fur-covered - thing - looked back at him blandly, then shifted form into something all too familiar to him.

''I was Alice Murphy.''

''Don't do that!'' he snarled.

''As you wish'' she said indifferently, shifting back. She plainly didn't care whether he wished it or not.

''Who's in charge here?'' Savage demanded.

'Mallam, King of Daxomites and Lord of Mars.'' Furry informed him.

''Who are these Daxomites anyway?'' He forced himself to continue speaking to her.

''The Daxomites are humanoids, from another Solar System. In a sense, their story overlaps with yours. When your late colleagues , Caspar and Dronon, changed the timeline for you, they also changed it for the Daxomites. In the original timeline, all Daxomites perished in a planetary disaster. In the current timeline, General Mallam and his fleet survived. His grandmother was of the royal house, so he is now the King. He promised to find them a new home - that is Mars.''

''I assume he knows who I am - so what does he want with me?And when do I get to see him?''

''Those are both matters for His Majesty to de ide.''

On that note, she turned round and walked away, leaving him fuming.

''You heard that?'' Cassandra asked Nikki. They had been able to talk, but couldn't see each other.

''Yes. It doesn't sound good.'' Nikki replied.

They had both seen Persusis - the one who had disguised herself as a Kendra reincarnation to spy on them. They had also seen Naomi, the self-professed killer of Dronon and then Caspar.

Things definitely didn't look good for the four of them.
