"I've been shot," Coco yelled as he enters the clubhouse.
Luna, who was in the office, almost knocked over Chucky and Angel to get to him. She stopped in front of him when she saw that he wasn't bleeding from anywhere. "Where?" She circles him, looking for any signs of a wound.
"A kid shot him with a BB gun, in the side of the head," Angel told her.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" She punches him in the shoulder. She grabs his chin to turn his face from one side then the other. He didn't have any bruising or swelling. "Fucking dumbass." She storms into the office, slamming and locking the door.
"She locked it," Chucky told the room when he tried to open the door.
"I don't think you're getting any pussy tonight." Angel laughs and slaps Coco on the back.
"All I got to do is tell her is how I was scared when I thought the gunshot was real and was thinking of her." Most of the time he was closed off and cold, so when he was open and warm with her, she ate that shit up.
"You know how to work her, don't ya?" Taza teased.
"Been with her for a decade, if I didn't it would be pretty sad." He shrugs. "She needs some time to cool off, so we should go meet Bischop at the dog kennels."
"I thought you need to get something." EZ thought that was the whole point of stopping here.
"No, boy scout. I came here to update my old lady." He shook his head as he walked out the door.
"Man, you thought she was going to baby you and smother you in kisses and you didn't get shit." Angel laughs following him. EZ and Taza follow the bickering friends.
"She will when I get to tell her the whole story. I almost lost my fucking eye." He points at the eye as he straps on his helmet.
Luna was putting the food on the table when she heard the bikes. She listens to the voices as they entered the house. When she heard Ez was with them, she set up an extra plate.
"Oh, prime rib and lobster. We eat like kings tonight." Angel cheers as he sat down at the head of the table.
"Your dad gave me a good deal on the ribs, so I figure I get us something extra." She grabs the beers to put them next to their plates.
"Sit down, Bomboncita. You're not a fucking waitress." Coco pushes the chair next to him out.
"It looks good, Luna." Gilly sat down across from Coco. EZ sat next to him.
"Thanks." She put some mashed potato on her plate, then pass it to Coco. After the prime rib, lobster, and street corn was passed around, they began to eat.
"You have gotten a lot better at this. I remember when you first made it, Angel and I had to force it down." He points to the corn.
"Hey, you guys asked for it, but neither of you knew how. I tried my best." Luna took a sip of her wine.
"My mom was a whore, what do you want from me." Coco shrugs.
"Let's thank god for Gilly." Angel puts his hand on his shoulder.
"Yes, thank you, Gilly. Without you, I would still be called the bland white chief." She glares at her boyfriend and roommate. Her mom would have killed them if she heard what they called her recipes.
"It was no problem. You were a great student." He smiles. Luna bowed to him like he was her sensei.
"The big BWC." Angel laughs.
"No dessert for you." Luna points a finger at him.
"What is it?" He wanted to know if he should grovel or not.
"Blueberry cheesecake." She told him.
"What? No mom, I'm sorry I'll behave." Angel whines.
"What do you think, daddy?" She winks at Coco.
"He should be sent to his room without supper." He teases.
"Man, you're cold." Angel shook his head.
"Then you should have been a good baby boy." Gilly pinches his cheek.
"Is this your mom?" EZ points at the picture of her and Gemma at the nail salon that was hanging up on the wall. It was their last mother's day together. They were doing silly poses showing their new claws as Clay would call them.
"Yeah, that is the legend, Gemma Teller." She nods.
"I have seen her before." He got looks of curiosity from everyone.
"Where?" She asks.
"I saw her a couple of times in the visiting room when I was in jail. Wasn't always the same guy though." He told her.
"Around that time, my dad, brother, and a few other members were in there." She explains.
"How come I never saw you there?" The question came out before he could stop it.
"You're one of those geniuses with no social skills, aren't ya?" Coco glares. EZ squinted at him, seeing that Coco had the least social skills out of everyone he knew.
"After I got with Coco, my dad excommunicated me. I wasn't allowed to visit them. My mom and brother had to talk to me in secret. It was only after he died that they could talk to me openly again." She pushes the food around on her plate.
"I thought the Mayans and Sons were friends," Ez said.
"Now, we are." Coco kept his death stare on him.
"It's fine, no need for the tense air. It's over and has been done with for a long time." She squeezes Coco's hand. "How Abuelita?" She smiles at Angel, knowing the crush he had on the woman.
"She kidnapped Galindo's baby." He told her. EZ look at everyone at the table, he never thought that Luna was allowed to know so much.
"What? She is not going to hurt him, right?" She gasps.
"No." He shook his head.
"That you know of," EZ interjected.
"You heard her say it yourself." Angel glares at his brother.
"Yeah, because she was so honest with you." He matches his glare.
"Enough, we don't argue at the dinner table. Shouldn't even be talking about club business." Luna got up to grab the cheesecake.
"Is your face okay?" Luna curls up next to him on the bed.
"Yeah, I'm fine it was just a BB gun." He shrugs. If this was earlier today he would have milked it for all the attention he could get. After hearing about what his 'younger sister' might be up to, he wasn't in the mood.
She stretches up to kiss him next to his eye, where he got hit. "I know Angel was exaggerating how much you were whining about it. My man is rough and tough." She peppers his face with kisses.
"Not tonight, Luna." He leans away from her.
She pulls back and stares at him. He only called her by her name when something was bothering him. He usually called her a bunch of Spanish pet names that she didn't understand. She drops it and grabs the new book she got from the library, The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. She read about how the World Fair being built in Chicago made the perfect scenario for a serial killer like H. H. Holmes to make his bloody mark in history.
Luna was sitting on a picket table, smoking a blunt when the boys came into the yard. "Let me have a hit of that." Angel walked over to her. She hands it to him. He inhales deeply before letting the smoke escape his mouth. "Where's your old man?" He asks.
"He's in the office making a call," Chucky said, making them jump.
Angel was taking another hit when he did that, so he ended up choking on the smoke. "Shit, Chucky. I didn't see you there. Can you tell him I need him?" He said when his coughing subsided.
"Sure." He nods and walks back into the office.
Coco walks over to them. "We got to meet with the Cartel at the dress shop," Angel told him.
"Okay, see you tonight, Princesa. I'll make up for scaring you yesterday." Coco gave her a half heart kiss before going to his bike.
She watches him ride off. He had been on edge since they came back yesterday. The rebels kidnapping Miguel Galindo, the head of the cartel's kid put them in a shitty spot. He wasn't in the mood to talk last night. Coco wasn't a man you could push to do so. She would wait for him, he always came around to telling her what was wrong after a few days.
She got up to go to the office, to see Chuckie looking at a porn site. "Jesus Chucky, if you're going do that shit then lock the door."
"Ummm… ah… it not what it looks like." He put his fake hands up. He didn't want to sell Coco out but didn't want her to think he was a pervert.
"Jailbait gets taco-stuff. EW… I didn't realize you were into young girls." She turns her head away from the screen after seeing that title.
"I...just… sorry." He clicks the X to close the site. He heard Coco complaining about her burning through his money on anti-aging cream. He knew if she found out it was Coco that opened this page then her complex would get worse.
"It's fine. It's like I said lock the door if you're going to do that. And clean up after yourself." She grabs a notepad. "I'm going to get lunch orders. Do you want anything?" After getting his order, she went round to see what everyone else wanted.
Luna was behind the bar. It was a normal night, with the guys smoking, playing pool, and wooing the ladies. Riz had his head in some girl's lap as he lazily played the guitar. Bishop was dancing with a girl between his turns by the pool table.
It was a familiar but very different sight from the clubhouse she grows up in. In SAMCRO there would have been a couple having sex on the pool table and a biker getting his dick sucked on the couch by now. In Santo Padre, the women, old ladies or hang around, we're treated with dignity and respect. There was no forced exhibitionism, degrading name-calling, or being thrown out of the bedroom when the act was done. It was a welcome change for Luna. There was no animosity between her and the girls. She hated walking into a Son's clubhouse and feeling the glares from every croweater she passed. Here, she was able to have friendships with a few of them without feeling like they were using her to get closer to a member.
Angel, Coco, and Gilly came in. Angel went to talk to Bishop, while Gilly and Coco took a seat at the table. She went over to put two bottles in front of them. "Everything good?" She ran her fingers through his hair.
"No, but the guys should enjoy the night," Coco whispers. They walk over to the bar when they saw Alverza walk away leaving Angel by himself.
"Shit, what happens when Bishop finds out about the burning Bennies?" Gilly took a sip of his beer.
"Won't be tonight." Angel pass Luna a beer. "Yeah, we need this." He held up the bottle before tanking it. Gilly and he walk off to join the party.
"You alright, babe?" Luna wraps her arms around his waist and puts her head on his shoulder.
"Yeah, I just saw a lot of fucking up shit tonight." He sighs. "I know I promised to make it up to you tonight, but I can't. I need some time alone. Come on, I'll drop you off at home before going on a ride." He got up and grab her hand. He gave her a ride home before taking his car to see his mother on her street corner.
