Chapter 68: Double Date

Although Star moved back to Mewni, Star still hung out with Marco. It's not like there was some weird idea that they had to stay in the same dimension or something. After all Luffy went through Dimensions easily.

Plus there was Marco's Devil Fruit and the portal function was easy for him to use.

Yes the teleportation was giving him a hard time, but the portals were fine for obvious reasons…

But yeah… they were still friends.

And the two were talking about something they should do as friends now that something changed.

"So you real think a double date is a good idea?" asked Marco.

"Things are different now… I have a boyfriend." Sid Star, "It will be fun!"

"Okay…" said Marco knowing it might be awkward because of her confession.

"Look it will be fine… I' with Tom! And this is show that what happened… it's not important anymore…" said Star.

I guess you're right…" said Marco.

"Yep! It will be fun and nothing bad will happen." Said Star.

Marco stared at her.

"You know… I think you might have jinxed us…" said Marco.

"Maybe…" said Star with a shrug.

And so they told their significant others about the double date idea.

With Star and Tom it was rather simple meeting.

"Sounds cool! " said Tom.

He was a little worried, but that was natural considering everything.

But the plan for Marco and Jackie happened during a phone call…

"That sounds like a nice idea." Said Jackie.

"Oh I wasn't sure if you would be up for it." Said Marco.

"Yeah, I'm sure whatever happens won't be that bad and will be fun." Said Jackie.

"Yeah!" said Marco.

"Hey there's something I have to do." Said Jackie.

"Okay!" said Marco, "Later!"

"Later!" said Jackie.

She hung up had phone and looked at her e-mail and sighed.

"What am I going to do?" she thought.

She had a choice to make soon… after all at lot had changed.

And a lot was going to change in the future…

And soon enough it was time for the double date.

They met up at a movie theater.

Star arrived while Marco and Jackie were waiting for her and Tom.

"Hey Marco! Jackie!" cheered Star.

"So where Tom?" asked Marco.

"Probably wanted to make an entrance." Sighed Star.

That was when suddenly fire in the middle of the road.

And of course Tom emerged from it.

"Can't say I'm too surprised." Said Marco.

"Yeah…" agreed Jackie.

"So hey! You guys ready for the double date?" asked Tom once the fire cleared.

"Oh yeah! Perfect way to show that things are fine been all of us." Said Star.

"Yeah…" said Jackie somewhat nervously.

"Hey is everything okay?" asked Star.

"It's fine…" said Jackie.

"Let's go see the movie!" said Star.

They headed to see the movie.

It was a fun movie, a standard super hero movie, but it was fun.

Once they were leaving however …

"So does anyone have any idea of where to go?" asked Jackie.

"I think I might know of a fun place…" said Tom.

And so he took them to a hang out spot he often goes to in the underworld.

It was a cool spot for sure. But there were a bunch of angry demons nearby.

Maybe we should have gone to the Bounce Lounge…" said Marco.

"Oh come on Marco? Scared something bad might happen? Like a bar fight?" teased Star.

Marco, Jackie and even Tom realized that she might be right.

"Damn it! I just jinxed us again…" said Star, "Maybe… but it will be fine…"

"What?" asked Jackie.

"I've been in plenty of bar fights… don't worry Jackie." Said Star.

And so they hung out at the demon bar, it was fine at first, just having drinks and talking.

"Well, well, well isn't it the little princess." Said a voice.

"Who the hell you!" yelled Star .

"Stop calling me that!" yelled Tom.

"Wait…" said Star.

IT was a rather large demon with a gang of Demons.

"Who is he?" asked Star.

"Just one of many jerks that don't like me." Said Tom.

"Oh makes sense." Said Marco.

"Yeah…" said Star.

"You think you're so great just because one day you'll be king." Said the main demon.

"I bet you just can't wait to be king." Sang one of the other demons.

"Hey!" yelled the bar tender, "Disney Karaoke Night is on Saturdays."

"Why is there a Disney Karaoke Night?" asked Jackie.

"Don't ask…" said Tom.

"Still… I bet your girl would love a real demon and not a halfie." Said the main demon reaching for Star.

"Strawberry Sundae Blast!" yelled Star sending out a blast made out of strawberries and ice cream.

The gang of demons gasp.

"And here come the bar fight…" sighed Marco.

"You were right you should have gone to the Bounce Lounge…" said Tom.

The Lackey Demons began to attack.

"Jackie…" said Marco.

Jackie nodded as she found a place to hide.

And so it was Star, Marco and Tom against the demon.

That was when the bartender tossed over a sword at Tom it was clear that it was meant as a weapon.

"Really?" asked one of the other patrons.

"I'm not angering the prince." Said the bartender.

The other bar patrons shrugged realizing the bartender had a point.

Tom looked at the sword.

"I have no idea how to use a sword!" said Tom.

Marco grabbed it and sliced the air creating a blast.

"I do…" said Marco.

Tom nodded.

Tom then sent out fire at the demands.

"Narwhal Blast!" yelled Star sending out Narwhals at them.

Marco injured the demons with his sword skills.

And thanks wo Tom's fire, the demon gang was beaten.

Jackie was watching this, sighed and made her decision…

It was hard but this proved to her… things were so different than when they got together…

"All right! These assholes got what's got to them!" yelled Star.

"I'm worried about her causal swearing… just being honest…" said Tom;.

"What happened wasn't pretty…" said Marco, "But she's getting better…"

"Jackie!" called out Star.

Jackie smiled at waved but it was clear to the group that she uncomfortable.

"Maybe we should leave…" said Tom.

"good idea…" said Marco.

They went back to earth.

As they got back… they could still feel the tension.

"So I think we should split off into single dates for the rest of the dates…" said Star.

"Sounds good to me..." said Marco.

As they parted ways… Jackie sighed.

"Hey Marco… we need to talk…" said Jackie.

Marco looked at his girlfriend and had a bad feeling. Especially with just happened.

The two of them sat on a bench.

"So what did you want to talk about?" asked Marco.

"I signed up for a forging exchange student program… and I'm going to France." Said Jackie.

"Oh that's great!" said Marco.

"Yes it is… but I don't think you should visit me…" said Jackie.

Marco was confused.

"What? Is a time zone thing? I mean I can prepare myself…" said Marco.

"No it's not that…" said Jackie, "So much has changed in the last couple months… you've changed a lot…. I don't know if we should be together any more… I need time to think."

Marco sighed… a lot had happened after they had gotten together, it made sense that with it all, he had changed a lot…

"When I get back… I'll call you and we can meet up again." Said Jackie.

It was clear that this break up might just be temporary or permeant… there was a small chance that they could get end up back together…

"Yeah…" said Marco.

The two of them had one final kiss.

And they parted ways.

Marco sent a text to Star telling her to call him when she was done with her date with Tom.

He decided to go to Dawn Island and talk to Luffy since he wasn't sure if he wanted to be alone at the moment.

In the treehouse, Luffy sat the portal.

"Hey Marco!" cheered Luffy.

Then he noticed the face his best friend was giving.

"What's wrong?" asked Luffy.

"It's a long story…" sighed Marco.

He told him about the partially disastrous double date, and how Jackie was going to France and while she was there.

"So you might get back together when she gets back." Said Luffy.

"I don't know I have a feeling when she gets back it still won't work out." Said Marco.

Luffy pouted, keeping tight lipped about the truth he knew about his and Star's relationship.

"Maybe I need a change…" said Marco.

"Like what?" asked Luffy happy at the change of subject.

"I know yet… but I know I need one…" said Marco.

With that Marco and Jackie had broken up, but soon things would change for Marco… in ways he didn't expect…

Well kind of expect due to certain reasons…
