Chapter 8

"What do we do now?" I asked.

"Let's go find Ash," said Latias, "he might be our only hope,"

"Ok, I think he's staying at the Pokemon Center," I said.

"Alright, let's go!" said Latias.

Latias and I turned invisible and flew to the Pokemon center to go and find Ash.

"Psst, do you know what room he's in?" asked Latias.

"Um, room 215 I think," I replied.

"Great!" said Latias.

"Darn! It's locked!" I said when we got there.

"No problem," said Latias, unlocking it from the inside with her psychic.

"Man, I've got to learn that," I commented.

"Don't worry, you'll get it eventually." she said, "But right now we need to get Ash."

"Right, should I go in?" I asked.

"Let's both go in," said Latias.

So Latias and I squeezed ourselves through the window and turned into our human forms.

"Ash!" I called out.

"Michael?" I heard a voice call. I looked around and saw Pikachu standing near us. "You too Latias? Is something wrong?"

"Pikachu!" I heard Ash call drowsily, "Where are you going? Huh? Michael? Latias? What are you doing here?"

"Well Ash," I began, "we're kinda in a situation…"

I explained what had happened in the garden.

Suddenly, Ash was wide awake. "They did what?! I have to go help Latios!"

"Ok, do you know where they could have taken Latios Latias?" I asked Latias.

"I'm not sure, but something tells me they took him to the DMA."

"Where's that?"

"It's in the museum."

"Ok, let's go!" said Ash.

"Here Ash, climb on," I said, turning into my Latiform and lowering myself. If I could carry my brother, I reasoned, I could carry a ten-year-old kid easily.

Ash got on me and Pikachu hopped on Latias. We then made our way to the DMA.

When we got there, I saw Lorenzo and Bianca tied up and Latios was being put in the DMA.

"Hey! Stop that right now!" Yelled Ash.

"Well, well, if it isn't the brat and his friends," said Annie.

"Don't you ever give up?" asked Oakley.

"I will never give up!" said Ash.

"Too bad for you then," said Oakley, "get them Ariados!"

"You to Espeon!"

"Um Michael, Latias, do you two know any attacks?" asked Ash.

"I can use psychic," said Latias.

"Um, just an out-of-control Luster Purge," I said gloomily.

"Ok Latias, use psychic on Espeon while I deal with Ariados!" said Ash. "Pikachu! Use thunderbolt on Ariados!"

"Alright!" said Pikachu as he unleashed a powerful thunderbolt. I still marveled at how he did that.

"Michael, can you free Lorenzo and Bianca while we deal with Annie and Oakley?" asked Ash.

"Sure!" I said, glad to do something to help. With my razor-sharp claws, I easily tore through the string that was holding Lorenzo and Bianca captive.

"Thank you, um…?" said Lorenzo.

"The names Michael," I said.

"Hang on, are you that Michael that Latias was talking about?"

"Yep, that would be me," I said.

"Just wanted to say sorry about what happened to you. I'm afraid that's partially my fault."

"That's ok," I said, "I'm much better now."

I looked around and could see Ash fighting Annie and Oakley and Latias trying to get her brother out of the DMA. Suddenly, Pikachu unleashed a powerful thunderbolt which knocked out both Espeon and Ariados. Latias, however, was struggling greatly. I could tell that she was trying her hardest but to no avail.

"Come on you can do it Latias!" shouted Ash.

"Yeah, you can do it!" I said.

I then saw Latias start to glow and with a sudden burst of light, she broke through the barrier that was holding Latios and they both fell to the ground. Ash, Lorenzo, and Bianca rushed over to them to make sure they were ok. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Annie reaching for the Soul Dew.

"Wait! Don't touch that!" shouted Lorenzo.

It was too late. Annie touched the Soul Dew and it shattered into hundreds of tiny pieces.

"Oh, no," said Lorenzo, "this is not good."

"What's not good?" I asked.

"Have a look for yourself," he replied.

I looked out of the window and saw the water rushing out of the canals.

"That's not good," I said.

"Yes," said Lorenzo, "and I'm afraid it's all coming back."

I gasped as I saw a huge tidal wave forming out in the ocean and slowly heading towards us.

"Sister," said Latios, "you know what we have to do."

"But…" said Latias.

"No buts," interrupted Latios, "I wish it didn't have to be this way, however, as guardians of this city we must protect it."

"Alright," sighed Latias, "Michael?"

"Yeah?" I asked.

"We have to go stop that wave from destroying the city," said Latias, "thank you for helping me save my brother, and tell Ash thanks as well, we may not survive this."

"Latias…" I began.

"No," she said, "it's final."

"Could I help you?" I asked.

"I'm sorry Michael, but I can't drag you into this. You've already gotten injured because of me,"

"It wasn't your fault I got hurt," I said, "you couldn't help it."

"I know," said Latias, "but this is something me and my brother must do,"

"Alright," I said with a sigh.

"Ready sis?" asked Latios.

Latias took a deep breath. "Yep, I'm ready,"

"Ok then, on the count of 3. 1…2…3…"

Latios and Latias speed out of the museum, towards the massive tidal wave.

"Michael?"

I looked around. I saw Ash standing next to me.

"What did Latias say?" He asked.

"Well," I sighed, "she said that she and Latios had to stop that wave from hitting the city. And also, that they may not survive,"

"They what!?" yelled Ash.

"I offered to help them but Latias said that only she and her brother could do it."

"I just hope they survive," said Ash.

'Me too,' I thought.

We all watched silently as Latios and Latias flew out towards the wave. I could see that they were using some kind of move, but I couldn't tell what. Suddenly, there was a blinding flash of light, and the wave dissipated and washed smoothly into the city.

"Michael!"

I jumped. "Latias?"

"Yes, it's me, no time to explain just grab Ash and get over here!" She sounded very stressed.

"Ok?" I decided just to do what she said since it seemed like she didn't want any questions.

"Hey, Ash,"

"What is it Michael?" He asked.

"It's Latias, she said to get you and hurry," I said.

"What for?" asked Ash.

"I don't know, but it sounded urgent. Here, get on my back." I lowered myself so that Ash could climb on.

"Ok," said Ash, "Pikachu, you stay here and make sure that Annie and Oakley stay under control."

"Alright, just don't do anything dumb," said Pikachu.

"I won't," said Ash.

"Ready?" I asked.

"Yep," said Ash.

With that, I took off and headed towards Latios and Latias.
