RE-RE-vamped (2022) A/N: Here is some added content to this chapter that I didn't have before to make is flow better. Read ending A/N for more on that.
RE-vamp AN: Thank you to jaydanicoleevelyn for the recent review! This chapter will give a lot away so you won't have to wonder for much longer! (I actually forgot about this... so your review actually reminded me to get this back up again, so thank you!)
And another thanks to SakuraBlossomConfetti for the wonderful review. It means a lot that people are enjoying my very first fanfiction story still. (even though I am re-vamping it so its not technically my first anymore lol)
Guys, we are still in the re-vamping chapters so if you read this years ago (and I mean like back in 2014) and recognize the material that's because its just edited/changed material from the original version of this story that I scrapped.
Here's the old old old AN:
Hey guys, sorry its been so long, I've actually had half of this written up for a while now, but the second half I was miffed on. I got everything planned, just having problems with the execution. I know I've lost a lot or readers due to the long wait, and I'm sorry about that I truly am. But to those of you who are still following this, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING PATIENT! Seriously, it means a lot to me.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything but the idea.
Slipping into something more comfortable :part 1
It was morning when Arachne had came back and dismissed Victoria along with the breakfast the two had clearly finished together. She had heard the two giggling from the cracked open door and though they didn't know it she had heard them talking about the night guards.
"So they are brothers! Now way! Then why is Ren in charge of Ichigo? He seems so much older then Ren." Maka asked.
"Well that's because Ichigo was a professional basket ball player so he never had to worry about money before; until he got seriously injured and couldn't play anymore when he was 38. At the time, Ren was already working here and got Ichigo this job to help his older brother out. Ren even moved to night shift instead of day shift to help train his brother. Ever since they have been night guards together." Maka seemed to have nodded in understanding.
"That's so cool. Their dynamic makes a lot more sense now. So what did Ren do be-" Maka began to ask as Arachne cleared her throat to make herself known. Maka seemed sad for Victoria to go, and then just confused because of what the witch had brought with her.
It was simple, yet so complexing. Why does she think this will help me? Maka wasn't sure; but it felt strange, like she had seen this thing before...
It was just a small board looking piece of wood. It had some notches on the sides and symbols on the surface. But otherwise there wasn't much to it.
The witch came and sat down next to Maka on her bed.
"How was your sleep last night dear? I trust the gaurds were respectful to you." It sounded more like a question then a statement but the blonde meister simply nodded while still staring at the board in the womans hands.
"Yeah they were nice. Got me some toothpaste and a toothbrush even. Ren says he will get me some facewash and shampoo today too." Maka stated.
"And you slept well?" Arachne asked the first question again.
"Yeah. I didn't think I would actually sleep, but the bed is super comfy and the sleep wear is nice and cool too." Maka gestured to her silk top and bottoms. "I guess I really needed it because I slept in. I usually wake up around 8 am on Saturdays and I didn't get up until around 10:15am. It was a nice sleep and all, but I wouldn't mind having a clock I can see in the dark. Maybe one of those alarm clocks you get in the department stores." Maka glanced up to the woman to see if her suggestion would land or not. She saw her close her webbed eyes and nod curtly. After that Maka's curiosity brought her full attention back to the wood that was on Arachne's lap.
Arachne actually jumped a little when Maka made it react and colors were suddenly floating around them. She was about to start explaining what to do with it; she honestly hadn't fully expected Maka to already know.
Well, I guess she has already been in at least a little touch with her powers. She would be a fine witch indeed. Plus her Mom's meister abilities and her fathers scythe abilities which I doubt she even knows about; she is just a water fountain overflowing with power and potential. Arachne thought as she was pleased to see the small smile slip onto Maka's face when she had realized she had startled the witch.
"Sorry, I guess I was just so excited when I remembered what it did, I forgot that it could startle people. I jumped when Grandma first showed me too." Maka was smiling at the memory. "How do you have one of these? And how did you know I would know what it was?" She was staring at Arachne now, curious. The witch had mentioned spying on her while she was with Soul... how could she know anything about her Grandma? Even Maka barely remembered much about her grandmother; she was so young when her father suddenly decided it wasn't wise to see her anymore.
"Well, truth be told I hadn't expected you to know what it was. I thought I was going to have to explain it. I'm curious, you said you grandmother had one?" Arachne seriously had no idea Maka still remembered her grandmother. But she clearly did hold some memory of the woman because it didn't even seem like she was really trying to activate it; she just seemed to reach out and suddenly there you go, the colors and symbols were well displayed brightly across the air.
"Well." Maka hesitated, she wasn't sure if she should tell her, but what could it hurt? "Well, my Grandma had one of these, she had taught me how to use it for color changes with my clothes, in case daddy ever got me something I didn't really like. He did that a lot, so whenever we went to her house I would just sneak into the backroom and use it to change the color so at least I could say I liked it a little more. But I still don't know why this could help me now... you kinda have a dresser full of, well now that I think about it, its all black clothes." Maka pouted in thought a little bit. "Maybe your right, maybe it will help me adjust a little better. " Maka finished her thought and then went on to play around with the floating colors.
For the first time, Arachne had realized Maka had gotten changed, therefore had been able to read the dressers door to open it. She had never actually considered the fact, which is quite embarrassing, that Maka had to be a witch to even open the dresser doors. Arachne must have looked rather disoriented, because Maka was starting to look at her like she was worried.
'Oh no, did I say something wrong? What if I did?'Maka thought and seemed to be unnerved suddenly. Arachne finally took notice and decided it would be wise to tell Maka.
"No reason to fret Maka. I was just, well rather stunned that you got that dresser open; it usually sticks and I had forgot to tell someone to help you with it after they moved it into here." Then she recalled Maka's last words. "You made it sound like you were planning on being here a while longer... what did your last comment entail exactly?" She knew she was backing Maka into a corner suddenly, but wanted to make sure she had heard and understood Maka correctly.
"Um...ah... well... I guess I was thinking, maybe it wouldn't be so bad, depending on what I would do to repay the debt or whatever, on staying here... for a while. Or at least, until I can figure out what the hell DWMA is doing about my mother's absence." Maka actually seemed a little frustrated with that. Arachne smiled.
I've got her doubting them... perfect. Huh?!Maka had suddenly touched Arachne's dress and then turned it bright orange. And she seemed to think it was pretty funny, seeing that she was trying to hide a giggle. Arachne relaxed, and turned Maka's silk top a crimson red.
"Hmmm. Not really my color." Maka commented.
"Oh and you think orange is mine?" Arachne asked playfully.
Maka giggled a little more and then tried to decided what color best suited Arachne other then black. She finally decided on a dark blue, and changed it. Arachne seemed very pleased with it; then she decided to give Maka a more fitting color and changed her top's color too. Hmmm, how about a nice dark green to match those beautiful eyes.
Maka went to the mirror to observe herself in the newly colored night top. She seemed to like it a lot. Arachne was very pleased that she could make Maka so happy with such a simple witches toy. Maka came to sit down with her on the bed again, not seeming to be so scared anymore, since she sat practically leg to leg with Arachne.
"I really do appreciate the gift, but since I am staying here, at least for a week or more... what do you want me to do? I don't like the idea of 'repaying' you for my existence, but I do think it wouldn't hurt to hear you out about what Lord Death is doing." She seemed rather concerned and a little startled with herself that she had kinda inadvertently agreed to stay.
"Well, I don't know if I should tell you everything just yet... it might freak you out. But I do intend to have you learn a few things about witches that aren't what you have been fed from the books back at that ... school. Believe me when I say that not all you have ever known is what is true." The witch said.
"Yeah you can say that again." Maka mumbled. Arachne was again surprised that Maka didn't argue with her or even try to stand up for them. Well, I see my spell must be working quite nicely, plus Victoria's visits must have did a lot of good to sway her, though she isn't on my side yet, just willing enough to check things out. But that's all I need now. Her thirst for knowledge, her greatest weakness, will be what drives her to my side.
Arachne was about to leave when Maka grabbed her dress. Then Maka blushed and let go, quickly looking away. Arachne just smiled and sat back down, then leaned over so her face was inches away from Maka's turned one. "Why did you grab me and then turn away my dear." She said softly. She took notice when Maka turned redder in the face then before.
"Oh, I'm sorry, it was nothing really. Just an involuntary reaction." Maka started to turn her head towards the witch again, not meeting her eyes.
"To what may I ask, were you reacting too?" Arachne was loving learning so much more about Maka and was curious as at what her change in behavior might mean.
"Well, the color looks really good on you that's all. And I kinda feel proud that I chose it, its childish I know, but I was kinda hoping you would keep the color change." Maka jumped a little when Arachne put her arm around Maka and pulled her close to her chest for a hug. Maka hadn't realized it before, but Arachne had very soft skin and smelled like a variety of sweet flowers.
"I don't think its childish at all Maka; Of course I'll keep the change. All you had to do was ask." Maka let her head relax into the crook of Arahcne's neck. She felt Arahne's lips touch her head, but she didn't threat or make any moves to push her away. The embrace was nice, and it kinda reminded Maka even of her mother, and how much she missed her.
Oh how Arachne wanted Maka to just forget about the academy and pledge her loyalty to her already. But she would wait; she knew this was incredible progress already and patience is something she was good at.
She left the board with Maka so she could have fun changing into the other outfits and changing the colors. Maka even promised to give her a mini fashion show later on. Arachne left feeling very proud and exhilarated that Maka was starting to fall even deeper into her plans.
After Arachne left Maka she ordered a servant to go buy an alarm clock for the girl along with a few other things to make her stay more comfortable.
Much later in the afternoon Arachne went to the security room where all the monitors were.
Once the truth about her grandmother is out, she will never go back to the DWMA again! She's already seemed to have forgotten her friends for the time being, and doesn't seemed concerned with going back to them anytime soon. My influence spell is working perfectly, and my natural influence on her will only grow stronger the more Maka uses her own magic. Now to get prepared for when she does start asking about her old friends.
She turned to the screen she used to spy on Maka and Victoria, and then turned to the one of her own bedroom and was now looking at a very sweaty, struggling purple cat woman tied to her very own bed.
So there you have it! The new-revamped version of this chapter! A lot has stayed the same, but something has changed significantly.
So for those of you who didn't catch the huge reveal yet; It has finally happened. But to clear things up if your are confused; Maka's mother and her grandmother are witches. Her grandmother is a full witch and her mother is half witch making Maka a quarter witch. So Maka is Human, Meister, Death Sythe, and a Witch in this story.
I hope that cleared things up. Maka hasn't gotten the connection quite yet so as readers, you know ahead of the main character. :)

Newest A/N: So you might have also noticed that I have reworked chapter 9 and then added some of that to this chapter. And I did tweak this chapter as well in some spots too. I just think if flows better now that I've fixed that giant plot hole and slowed things down a little. Anyways I hope you guys like the much fresher update on this because we are gonna have some fun next chapter! :)
Now on to the really really old Authers note that makes me sad because it was back from when I just graduated high school... that feels like a long time ago. :(
Old AN:
Ok, so yeah, I am breaking this chapter up. I will post the other half soon, but its the Blair stuff that I am miffed with and the only reason I haven't gotten this half up yet, so I'm just going to settle on this. I will make the most extreme effort to have the other half up before 2015. I don't have school anymore so I think I can make that deadline.
When I get the next half up you might even catch on to the double meaning in the title. So what did you think of my new twists?
