Walls of flames began engulfing the building. A blue-grey wolf with pink-orange fur mixing with his mane and front elbow hair burst in through a window. Glass went everywhere. As his huge paws touched the floor a large plume of white smoke appeared. A man rushed out of the smoke; once it cleared, the wolf was nowhere to be found.

"Moonlight," he shouted over the vicious roar of the heat, "Moonlight!"

A faint voice called to him through the hot air.

"Flashheart!"

He bolted through the house, following the distressed voice of the woman. He came to a room where the roof had caved in. The sound of younglings crying caught his ears. Ignoring the intense heat and the sweat soaking into his eyes, he jumped into the room. His eyes widened at the sight of a brown-haired woman. Her light blue orbs helplessly looked up at him as she tried pulling herself from under the rubble.

He rushed to the woman's side, tears of sadness in his dark blue eyes.

"Moonlight! Who-?"

Moonlight shook her head, "It doesn't matter who did this right now! You just need to get our kids out of here!"

"What about you?!"

She smiled and placed a hand on the side of his face. She gave him a short peck on the cheek.

"I'll be fine, my love," she almost whispered, "Get Freddy out of here. I'll get Freyda."

Flashheart nodded. He went to a wooden double-bunk bed. Two four-year-old children hugged each other tightly on the bottom bunk. They both had the same spiky hair - except, the girl had black hair like her father, the boy had brown like his mother. The girl's dark blue eyes mirrored the terrified emotions of the boy's light blue ones. They trembled, tears pouring from their eyes. Flashheart was about to speak when more of the house's wooden frame caved in in one of the other rooms.

"Daddy," the two screamed in unison.

Flashheart ducked under the top bunk, leaning in to give them a hug. He held them at arm's length, wiping away their tears.

"It's alright kids," he reassured.

The girl cried, "Daddy, I'm scared!"

Flashheart sighed, "I know, I know."

He scooped the boy up, causing the girl to become more frantic. She grabbed hold of her brother's arm. More tears fell from their eyes.

"It's okay, Freyda. Let go of your brother," he said, "Your mum will be here soon. She'll come and get you, okay."

"B-but, Dad-!"

He smiled and kissed her forehead, "It'll be alright, sweetie."

Before Freyda could say anything else, Flashheart warfed into his wolf-form. He gently but firmly held Freddy by the collar of his shirt and ran out.

"Freyda," Freddy cried, "Mama!"

Once Flashheart placed his squirming son on the grassy ground, he was about to run back into the house when there was an explosion. The sound of shattering glass and collapsing wood erupted into the air like lava from a volcano. Flashheart froze. His and his son's hearts could be heard smashing into a thousand pieces from space.

"MAMA," Freddy wailed, tears streaming from his eyes as he ran towards the house, "FREYDA!"

Flashheart warfed into his human self and hastily grabbed the frantic boy by the arm. Freddy tried prying his arm from his father's grasp, but to no avail.

"Let me go," Freddy demanded in his squeaky voice.

"Freddy, stop," he said gently, his deep voice shaking, "There's nothing we can do. They're gone."

Freddy shook his head, "No! We need to save them! Dad, please! Dad!"

With tears rolling down his cheeks, Flashheart pulled Freddy around into a tight embrace.

"I'm sorry, son. I'm so sorry."

Freddy went limp in his father's hold. He wrapped his short arms around him. Their bodies trembled as they sat on the ground, crying.

A few giant wolves ran out of the trees. Seeing the destruction before them, they turned their attention towards the two. Two silver-white wolves glanced at each other before making their way over to them. They sat behind the crying pair. They put their heads back, letting out a howl full of mourning. The other werewolves around them followed suit.
