THE ORIGINAL TIMELINE
2035
Barry Allen was currently standing over the gravestone of his brother. It had been a month since his death, and they had just finished his funeral. He knew that the Reverse Flash did this to get back at him. But never thought that he would stoop so low as to go after his brother.
Standing over his grave was Peter's wife now widow, Liz Allen. With her, in her arms, was their baby daughter, Adriana Allen. Named after her father.
"I'm sorry." Barry apologized to Liz. "If you need anything, and I mean anything, I'll be there."
Liz couldn't hold back her scoff, feeling she's heard that before. "Funny. You once said the same thing to Peter." She then looked to face Barry. "He's always been there when you needed him. And you weren't there when he needed you most."
Barry wanted to defend himself but knew there was nothing he could say to defend his actions that led to Peter's death. "I know."
"I'm going to go stay with my parents for a while," Liz tells him, fixing her hold on her daughter. "I need some time and space."
"I understand," Barry replied as she walked away, leaving him alone. Looking at his brother's grave, he finally let loose a few tears of anger and sadness. "I'm so sorry. I want you to know I will do whatever it takes to make this right. I'll make him pay. And I'll do whatever it takes to save you. I swear."
CURRENT TIMELINE
"Some things are meant to happen." In a sad tone of the darkness, the Watcher said that was the original timeline. "Sometimes things are meant to be changed. Tell me, if something is so terrible, but was always meant to happen, does it make it right?"
Down in an alley near the school, a blast of ice, followed by an icicle, hits a tin can that was placed on a wooden board. Cheering, Bobby raised his fists to unleash a small mist of smoke.
"Look who's back in action!" Bobby was happy to see his powers were back. He then looked to see the mist stopped flowing already. "Slightly!"
Peter smiled at his friend, seeing how excited he was to have his powers coming back. "It took like two weeks, but you're coming back."
"Now we know I shouldn't do that whole blast thing as I did with Connors," Bobby said as he took a seat, and Peter joined him. "So, how did it go with you and MJ?"
"Pretty good. You know, until that thing with Goblin, followed by an evil squid doctor." Peter recapped his first real date with MJ. "My life is weird."
"Yeah, that's an understatement, Pete." Bobby was sorry to say. Then he got to a part of the conversation that interested him the most. "So, what's this thing going on with your brother and my cousin?"
"I saw them at his work the other day, follow that up with the recent thing you spotted with them at that award thing, I think something going on," Peter explained to him, feeling Barry might like Caitlin.
"Where is he now?" Bobby wonders.
"He said he was gonna spend the day off at STAR Labs, they do some tests on him to make sure he's okay," Peter answered with a shrug.
"Conveniently where Caitlin works," Bobby commented.
"What are they doing over there?" Peter was starting to feel off about it.
"This isn't even remotely atomically correct." Caitlin complained, trying, and failing to get another piece out of the "body" she was "operating" on.
Barry Allen was currently hanging out with the group in STAR Labs, playing ping pong with Cisco, chess with Harrison, and Operation with Caitlin. All at the same time. Speeding around the room, it was easy for him to play all games at once
"That's not the point Dr. Snow," Barry told her, flashing over and neatly picking a piece up. He gave her a wink that sent a tingle down her spine, then rushed away again to hit the ping pong ball back to Cisco.
"Then what is the point?" Caitlin asked him in exasperation, pushing her hair out of her face from where it had blown when he ran away.
"To have fun!" Barry cried, hitting his ball back and forth with Cisco a few more times, waiting for her to try again.
"And to continue your training by testing your multitasking skills," Harrison called across the room.
Once Caitlin went in again, the buzzer rang out and filled the room with noise. Caitlin blushed and humped.
Barry ran over and gave her a mock pout. "Not used to be worse at something medical than anyone else, are we?"
Caitlin reached out a hand to hit his shoulder, but he was already on the move again. She rolled her eyes.
Harrison rolled his wheelchair into the room. "Your accuracy is getting better, Mr. Allen. I'm impressed."
"Thank you!" Barry beamed.
Caitlin laughed at his facial expression and tried once more to lift out a piece. BUZZZ. "Oh, I give up." She groaned. "You win, Barry."
"Maybe on that he does!" Cisco crowed triumphantly, taking advantage of Barry's distraction and scoring another point in their ping-pong game, "But he just lost with this! Burn..."
But at the last second, before he could score the point, Barry smacked the ball back, gaining him the point. "Don't celebrate until you achieve victoriously."
Then Harrison moved his queen, putting Barry into checkmate. "Checkmate."
Barry sped over to him and looked at it. "Checkmate?"
"Looks like there are some things we need to work on," Harrison tells him.
Just then, the police report blared into their room. Looking over, Cisco saw what it was.
"Armed robbery in progress," Cisco tells Barry.
Barry then walked over towards the manikin holding his suit. "For the record, I crushed it at ping pong and Operation."
Then he sped off, just when Caitlin went to try it again, earning her another BUZZZ, and her scoffing in anger. "It's not as easy as it looks!"
Down at the scene of the crime, a crew of four were breaking into an armored vehicle to steal a diamond in the back. One of them used a gun with two giant canisters on his back. Shooting the door, it froze off to the point he could break inside. But once he broke the door, he was immediately webbed, being pulled out by Peter as he swung in.
"Hey, guys, I wanna see the diamond as bad as you, but I'd never stoop to this level!" Peter commented.
Just as he was dodging the bullets, Barry came speeding in and knocked the other guys down. Speeding to a stop near Peter, the two looked and saw their job was already done.
"Look at that, you showed up faster than last time," Peter commented on his tardiness.
"Yeah, yeah." Barry rolled his eyes at him. "You sound like my brother."
Peter was about to respond when his senses went off, identifying something was coming. He started to look around, getting the red guy's attention.
Hey, he didn't have a name yet.
"What is it?" Barry asked him.
"Something isn't..." Peter tried to understand when he heard a CLINK.
Looking towards the truck, they saw a small orb bounce off of the tow truck, before jumping off of the armored vehicle. Peter instantly recognized it when it started to roll in front of the heroes.
But Barry didn't as he sped over to catch it before Peter could warn him. When Barry picked up the orb, it instantly exploded, sending him and Peter flying backward.
Just then, a giant black hole opened up and the two heroes tried to get back up when someone familiar came through. A glider was the first thing to come out of the hole, filled with the laughter of the familiar laugh.
"Goblin," Peter said in shock.
"Who?" Barry asked in confusion.
"Ah, looks like the Spider got himself an ally!" Goblin said with a smile. "Am I becoming too rough on you, Spidey?"
But before he could answer the question, the Goblin tossed three more pumpkin bombs at the heroes. Peter reacted fast, leaping backward to avoid them as he shot a web and yanked Barry and the guards backward with him. As the bombs went off, it masked the Goblin as he flew down to the leader of the crew.
"Leonard Snart." The Goblin greeted the thief. "I have a proposition for you!"
Snart was trying to understand when the Goblin picked him up and disappeared into the portal before the two could even react. When they looked up, the Goblin just escaped, and the portal closed behind him.
"A friend of yours?" Barry asked Peter.
"More like my arch-nemesis." Peter scoffed then looked to Barry. "How have you never heard of him? He's kinda been making the rounds lately. You been living under a rock or something?"
Barry had to admit he still had a lot to catch up on since he woke from his coma. "More or less."
The Goblin dropped Snart inside of some secret headquarters of his. There were a few screens, a lot of gear, and a lot of weapons that were in process or already finished.
"Welcome to my villainous abode," Goblin said as Snart pulled a gun. "Oh, put that away. You might hurt yourself."
"I've seen you around." Snart recognized him. "You attacked the police prescient, fought Spider-Man multiple times."
"Ah, nice to meet a fan!" Goblin said, pointing over to a suitcase. "That is for you!"
Snart opened the case and noticed the device was a giant gun. "What's this?"
"I want Spider-Man, but I want the red guy out of the way," Goblin informs Snart. "That gun will slow him down just enough."
"Instead of Cisco Ramon creating the cold gun, Green Goblin creates it to keep the Flash busy so he can go after bigger fish." The Watcher stated. "How much more can be changed? How much destruction will the Goblin cause?"
"He opened a portal, similar to those from Spot," Barry informed Joe at SCPD of what happened back at the site. "Spider-Man called him-"
"The Green Goblin." Joe interrupted him, already familiar with the man. "He's been around for a while now."
"Wow, does anyone not know about him?" Barry asks, feeling he's the only one who hasn't heard of him.
"Surprised nobody here's told you about him," Joe admitted. "But why would he want to kidnap Leonard Snart?"
"Who knows? Seems he wanted him specifically." Barry replied. "But whatever, these guys don't stand a chance with the Streak around."
"Did you just refer to yourself in the third person?" Joe asked him.
"No, I referred to the Streak and Spider-Man," Barry said.
"The Streak?" Peter asked, getting their attention when they saw him sitting under the sign. "Is that what people are calling that guy in red?"
"UH..." Barry didn't know what to say. "Yeah, we were just discussing the Goblin attack."
"Ugh, Green Goblin." Peter rolled his eyes. "The dude's responsible for me almost missing my dance date with MJ."
"I'm gonna go. Leave you two alone." Joe said as he walked away.
Barry and Peter then made their way up the stairs towards the labs. "So, what can you tell me about Green Goblin?"
"He's a psychopath. He has a high-tech glider. Unlike anything that I've seen before. And he carries small grenade-like objects that I like to call pumpkin bombs."
"Pumpkin bombs?" Barry asked with a laugh. "Took the whole Halloween theme to a new level."
"Well, what do I call them?" Peter asked him. "They're mini projectiles that once activated, explode on impact. And don't get me started on the razor bats."
"Okay, now I need to know," Barry admitted, wanting to know more of the Goblin, but also interested in this chat.
"He throws spherical devices, like the bombs, but instead they unveil small devices with razor-sharp wings," Peter explained to him and tried to think of it. "They have some sort of heat-seeking on them because they follow you wherever they go."
"And you know this how exactly?" Barry was a little worried about his advanced knowledge of Goblin.
"As I said, I follow the guy. Goblin likes the attention the media, and the police give him, but he loves Spider-Man. He's obsessed with the guy." Peter stated as he shuttered at the reminders. "He attacked here about one or two months ago, then that recent attack at the park during my date."
"I don't know who's more of a magnet for danger. Me or you." Barry commented.
"I'm starting to feel like it's the Allen name that's been giving me a problem, not Parker," Peter said as they reached his labs.
"Oh, trust me, Barry has the worst of luck." A certain someone commented, looking at the two of them. "You should have seen his trip in Starling."
Peter was confused about her but Barry laughed, signifying that he knew her.
"Hi. Felicity Smoak." She introduced herself to Peter.
"Peter Parker." Peter introduced himself.
"Barry Allen." Barry introduced himself, for no particular reason. Realizing what he said, he looked back at them. "But you both knew that."
"How do you two know each other?" Felicity asks, looking at them.
"He's my brother." Peter and Barry said, gesturing to one another.
"Brother?" Felicity asked in shock. "As in the 'missing for over a decade' brother?"
"Yep," Barry confirmed.
Felicity was shocked this was the first she was told this and looked around. She gestured to the glass on the ceiling.
"So the lighting came through here?" Felicity asked, gesturing to the ceiling.
"Uh, yeah," Barry confirmed. "Pete, can we meet up later?"
"Yeah, sure. I'm gonna go hang with Bobby or MJ or...just make myself scarce." Peter decided, walking off.
"Felicity Smoak. Partner to Oliver Queen. In this universe, Barry helped Oliver and his team, but his moment with Felicity never happened. Searching for his brother took a majority of his life." The Watcher explained as the sky morphed, showing a small passage of time. "Introducing her to the team, accidentally unveiling he knows the Arrow. Dr. Wells takes Felicity to talk whilst Barry and Caitlin went out for coffee. Being dragged into a trivia night by Iris West, trying to set the two up. Now...time for Captain Cold to announce himself."
"Party people, who is ready to get this trivia on?" The announcer yelled into the crowd. "Alright everyone we have some new challenges; everyone please welcome E=MC Hammer!"
The crowd cheered again, and Barry beamed excitedly at Iris and Eddie. They both looked confused. "You know because E=MC squared..." He launched into a fast-paced explanation, which neither Iris nor Eddie understood.
'So where's Caitlin?" Iris asked him.
"She should be..." Barry said when he noticed Caitlin walking over to them.
She looked nice, wearing a black dress that stopped right above her knees. It had thin straps, decorated with sequins. The dress was low cut, but not drastically so, so it still reflected who Caitlin was. Her hair was curled to look nice, which earned her a lot of mockery from Bobby. Saying how she wouldn't wanna dress up to look this nice for just anyone.
"Did I overdress?" Caitlin asked, noticing how casual everyone else looks.
"No, you look amazing," Iris assured her.
"Yeah, you look...beautiful." Barry couldn't find another word to describe her, and it fit her perfectly.
She gave him a shy smile and sat down beside Barry. "Sorry, I'm late. Felicity convinced me to do something with my hair other than curling it." She wrinkled her eyes at the thought of the other girl. "I can't believe I let her talk me into it."
Meanwhile, Peter and Bobby were taking a drink outside, watching them.
"There is definitely something going on here." Peter finally agreed with Bobby.
"Thank you!" Bobby said in relief. "So now what do we do?"
"What do you want to do?" Peter was curious to know. "I say it's kinda nice. Barry admitted he spent half his life looking for me. Never been interested in a girl before."
"That's a little sad," Bobby muttered as he took a drink. "We're still gonna taunt them, right?"
"It's younger sibling 101. Of course, we're taunting them." Peter promises.
Back inside, Caitlin went to the bathroom and Eddie left to get some drinks. Leaving Iris and Barry alone, giving her time to push him toward Caitlin further.
"Dude!" Iris cried as she lightly pushed him. "Are you still gonna tell me that she's not into you?"
"I don't...I don't know." Barry shrugged, having no idea what to think.
"Look at that dress," Iris stated. "And when I asked her the seeing anyone question, she froze."
"Yeah, you were particularly sly with that one." Barry sarcastically replied.
"Caitlin is smart, nice, and pretty. And most importantly, she saved your life. And she completely understands you. She's perfect for you. What are you waiting for?"
Barr sighed and knew that she had a point. "For her to be ready."
Back outside, Bobby and Peter were planning something mischievous. But sadly, their planning was interrupted by the alerts on their phones, showing they have found Snart and ran off.
Snart is walking down the street with Joe on his tail when a police car comes to help and Snart freezes the road with the cold gun. Joe was shocked at this as he follows him as he enters the theater.
Peter comes swinging in and sees everyone running from the theater and enters. As he looks for Snart, his senses go off and he turns to see Snart and the gun goes off while a blast of ice comes at him. He was about the dodge the blast when Barry speeds in and pushes him out of the way and gets hit by the blast.
"You okay, man?" Peter asks his partner in crime-fighting.
"Ah! It burns." Barry says and Peter sees an entire side of his body is frozen.
"Well, that's a new one," Peter says when he looks up to see the gun. "The Goblin must've given him some new weapon to stop you."
"Yeah, I came to the same conclusion." Barry groaned out in pain.
Snart starts shooting in their direction and they run to dodge it. Peter jumped and landed on the ceiling while Barry sped off, allowing the frost to burn off.
"Time for a test run," Snart says and sees people around the room. "Let's see how fast you are."
Snart then starts by shooting at the man at the stairway, but Barry was fast and saved him as fast as he could. Going for the ones on the balcony, Peter swung over and tackled them both so he couldn't hit them. Two people were running up the stairs when Snart aimed at them.
Having enough, Peter went in and shot a web at his cold gun. Barry saved the two, but Peter misjudged the blast as when Snart pulled the trigger mid-pull. When the blast shot out, mostly everyone was able to dodge the attack.
Except for one man.
The beam was too fast for Barry to react, and Peter was left shocked when he watched the beam hit the man. Barry ran over to the man afterward, and Peter was left in shock at what he had done. Snart, during the confusion, sneaked away from the heroes and escaped the cops.
Peter also escaped, making his way home where he started to break down. Once he yanked his window open, he saw that May was gone due to the car missing and starting to break down. Looking at his mask, he tossed it in the closet and closed it up.
Putting on his jacket to cover his suit, he dropped down and cried at his mistake.
To his shock, there was a knock and he looked to see MJ was there. "Hey, Pete. I didn't know you were here." Then he noticed that she was upset about something. "Hey, you okay?"
"No. Leave me alone," Peter demanded her, not feeling up to being polite.
"Come on, Tiger, talk to me," MJ asked of him as she sat in front of him. "Please."
"I said LEAVE!" Peter yelled at her, taking MJ back.
MJ sighed and got up, seeing he was determined to get rid of her. She walked towards the door and grabbed the side of it. Closing her eyes, she shut the door and looked back at Peter.
Walking over to Peter, MJ grabbed his head and placed it against her, and she let him cry. Peter just kept crying as MJ was doing her best to comfort him. She took a hand and rubbed the back of his head.
"I don't know what happened. But I'm here for you, Tiger." MJ assured him.
"Mary Jane Watson has seen darkness before."The Watcher commented as MJ was comforting Peter. "This party/bad girl persona that she likes to display is to hide the darkness in her life. Peter Allen is about to discover her life is not as good as he or his friends thought."
