This follows on from Jaune's Winter Holiday and Learning to lead, learning to follow although I will try and make it a story which can be read without reading the previous ones. This chapter is by way of a prologue which gets Weiss and Yang to Atlas where the main action will take place. For newcomers I will refer to the main events in the earlier stories which inform the characters actions. Basically, there has been an equivalent of the docks fight which instead took place at Junior's and a successful defence of a town in Mistral from a Grimm attack which threatened to be a Mountain Glenn incident. The students are all two years older than in the show and the rules at least in Vale are UK based so there is a college bar. The main conceit is that the good guys are competent (and the bad guys, other than Tyrian, are the sane side of obsessed), and I am investigating the knock-on consequences of that.
Weiss was on a private airbus to Atlas three days earlier than she had expected. Five hours ago, she was not expecting to be on an earlier flight, but things had been happening. The biggest surprise was that Yang was travelling with her.
The original plan had been to spend the entire week with her team on the grounds that they would be training together. The plans had been in part derailed by one of the pleasanter aftermaths of the White Fang attack at Junior's, namely the reunion of Blake and her mother Kali. While Blake had still trained with them, much of the week had involved the mother and daughter making up for lost time.
This had included an evening when Kali dined with Team RWBY. It had been a splendid occasion and Weiss had mostly enjoyed it. Certainly, it was a pleasure seeing the family connection re-establishing itself and the undoubted love between the mother and daughter. Also, Kali had been most appreciative of the friendship they had given her daughter and had done her best to put Weiss at ease. There were some other thoughts which the evening had caused which Weiss had wanted to mull over in her own mind.
Tomorrow Blake and Kali would be flying to Menagerie along with Dr Oobleck and Professor Peach leading a team from the Beacon faculty. In part this was to complete the family reunion so that Blake could reunite with Ghira Belladonna. Mainly, it was a diplomatic mission to Menagerie with a view to opening a combat school there to help train the youth of Menagerie to fight against Grimm using human as well as Faunus knowhow. It was also a symbol of Faunus/human cooperation and détente. Blake would be back in two weeks for the promised Grimm hunting session where team RWBY would be accompanying Team CVFY and Professor Port's training exercise and excuse for mayhem.
However, in the last forty-eight hours the fall of a town to the Branwen tribe and their White Fang collaborators had caused a refugee crisis in Ansel Province in Mistral which in turn had given rise to a Grimm attack crisis.
In part to get the Mistral government to pull its finger out and devote resources to Ansel, Professor Lionheart in Haven had sent in another team of first years to add to team ABRN who were already on a work experience placement in the province. He had also asked Ozpin to send in a team from Beacon.
Ozpin had not exactly sent a team but had mixed and matched from Team JNPR and Team CFVY. Ren, Nora and Yatsuhashi were all from Mistral and Fox Alastair was from Vacuo.
All four had been in the training gym when Glynda and Port had walked in and told them to go and see the headmaster with them. Unsurprisingly, Fox had notified Coco of the request using his semblance and by the time they reached the headmaster's office Coco and Velvet were waiting for them. In addition, Ruby and Yang were with them. They had been giving feedback to Velvet on her latest batch of ammunition and Coco had suggested they join the delegation.
Ozpin had explained that the Mistralians were sensitive to saviours from Atlas and Vale coming in and sorting out their problems. Vacuo did not give rise to the same problems and Mistralians coming back to lend a hand would surely be welcome. He hoped that the fact that the four of them had volunteered to come in and help under the supervision of Professor Port would encourage the Mistralian authorities to commit resources. It also made sense as Jaune Arc was already in Ansel staying with his family and indeed his mother was the head of the Local Grimm Defence Force in the province. He would no doubt be of help to the four in settling them in and explaining the situation.
He had sugar-coated things for Ruby and Velvet by saying they would have been his next choices but had said that it would be impossible to send Yang under any circumstances.
Weiss and Blake had not been in the loop on this and the first they knew about it was the dorm door was kicked open and an angry Yang entered with her eyes blazing with Ruby, Coco, and Velvet in her trail.
"They won't let me go to Mistral because of my fracking egg donor." Yang was clearly angry.
Weiss and Blake exchanged glances. Both decided that they needed to play for time. Coco explained what had happened at the meeting with Ozpin.
Weiss coughed and said, "I am not allowed to travel without a diplomatic protection squad in most of Mistral in part because of your biological mother."
"Egg donor."
"OK, egg donor. I am a prime candidate for kidnapping and murder by the White Fang and the Branwen tribe. Actually, the death rate amongst SDC executives has gone down since the White Fang have allied with her, but the kidnappings have gone through the roof."
Velvet said, "Yang, he did not send me, Coco or Ruby because we are from Vale."
"But at least he clearly considered you and said that you and Ruby were his next picks, I am not allowed to go because of an accident of blood."
Coco chimed in, "Look, Yang you from do look like a blonde version of your egg donor and the idea is to help calm things down in Mistral. She is public enemy number one in Mistral and is feared even more than Sienna Khan. People will fear you or attack simply because you are her daughter."
Yang scoffed, "What, they will think that I am some sort of bandit princess?"
Blake said, "This reminds me of a book I used to read." Weiss approved of the distraction technique, Yang just needed time to calm down and sometimes irrelevant distractions worked.
Ruby said, "They made it into a TV series here. Me and Yang used to pretend to act out scenes from it with Zwei as Yang's sidekick."
Coco added, "I remember that series. Hey, we could cosplay it next term. Yang, Bandit Princess. Weiss could be her sidekick with her little sword and Jaune could be the comic relief chasing after Weiss."
Ruby said, "I used to love his song."
To Weiss's surprise Coco started singing a little ditty which seemed to be entitled, Jaune the Mighty. To her greater surprise Velvet joined in after the first four lines and Ruby hummed along and joined in the chorus.
Ruby at the end did object, "That's not really fair on Jaune and you're changing the words of the verses. You've clearly thought about this before." However, she did seem to be struggling not to laugh.
Coco said, "Oh, we all know the man is basically decent, but he has the romantic intelligence of one of the saps in Blake's historical romances."
The fashion heiress then looked over her glasses and said, "Hey, Rubes you had not finished debriefing Velvet on the new batch of bullets. Perhaps we can do that now in the armoury."
Ruby nodded and the three left the dorm.
Blake checked the time and apologised saying "Sorry, but I have to meet my mother and Oobleck. She wants my advice on what she should be looking for from Beacon by way of training support for the new combat school in Menagerie to reflect Faunus perspectives."
That left Yang and Weiss together.
Yang said, "You know who my mother is?"
"Of course. Do you think I did not need read up on Team Stark? Besides which your uncle Qrow knows Winter and she briefed me."
"I bet she was entertaining about him. Anyway, you never said."
"I respected your privacy in the same way as I respected Blake's. If neither of you wanted to discuss your parents, then I was not going to force you to. In both cases, I thought it safest to assume that neither of you wanted to acknowledge who they were. Not talking about family also suited me."
"Fair enough. Suppose none of us says too much about family."
"Ruby does. It took me a week or so to realise that her mother was dead. I was a little envious when she told me that whenever she felt troubled she would go and talk about things to her mother. I was confused when it became clear that she was talking in front of a memorial."
"Yeah, she says that she imagines what mum would say to her if she was here and it makes her feel better. It was one of the things that made her seem a little weird at Signal."
Yang looked thoughtful for a moment and sat on the bed, "Weiss, can we have a word in private. I need to get something off my chest when the other two are not here."
Weiss suspected she knew what was coming. "Of course, Yang."
"I'm really happy for Blake and seeing her with her mother is just so wholesome. It's just part of me feels sad and angry about it."
"Go on."
"Summer was my mom. She was the one who read me stories, cooked with me and Ruby, joined in our games. Every so often she disappeared on missions but would return with sweets from a different city or kingdom, hug us both, tell us new stories and it was like she had never been away. Until the one time she did not come back."
Weiss nodded and gave Yang's right hand a little squeeze to encourage her to continue.
"Before then my childhood was happy. Afterwards dad went to pieces, and I had to look after Ruby who was hurting even more than I was. I did my best for her and dad and to put on a brave face, but there was no one there for me."
She paused, "Actually Uncle Qrow was some help, but it was mainly of the let's take one day at the time and in the meantime do the laundry and the cooking. He grieved as well, but he also told me stories about mum and celebrated her life. He did reassure me that she loved me and would not have willingly left me or Ruby on our own. He also said that it was not my fault."
"That helped?"
"Oddly yes. He said later that he and his sister always had an internal voice in the back of their heads telling them that things were their fault and that they were not good enough. Sometimes it was best to defy that voice and accept that some terrible things happen through nothing but chance. He thought it best to assume that I had inherited that voice."
Weiss squeezed the hand again, Yang nodded, "I know I did not want to hear that everything will get better or that the pain will dull. It is true but it takes a long time. Even now I still catch myself thinking I can't wait to tell mum about this. I can't do what Ruby does, I wish I could."
Another pause, "I am glad for Blake and Kali, and they are great together. I look at them together and I wish that I had mum around. I just can't help thinking that I would not have thrown away five years with mum because of a political argument."
Weiss said, "There are things which once said it is hard to unsay or unhear. The longer you leave them the harder it is to either apologise or imagine that the other person will ever forgive you."
Yang nodded, "I know I flare up quickly and then calm down once the air has been cleared. If I am in the wrong or have overreacted, I apologise up to a point. I know you and Blake brood about things more."
Weiss paused herself, "I watched Kali and Blake reunite. Blake's cat ears were flat, and she acted like she was ready to be rejected. She knew what she had thrown away and perhaps did not believe that she deserved to be forgiven. She approached her mother like a disreputable tom cat expecting to have a boot thrown at it rather than a kitten expecting to be made a fuss of. Her mother just rushed over and hugged her hard. It took Blake a good ten seconds before she could respond in kind."
Yang sort of laughed, "I had not thought of it like that. OK, if me and Blake ever argue, I will accept that I am the one who will need to make the first move to reconcile. I will still let her know that it was her fault, just that it does not matter. Mind you she has been a bit like a cat on a hot tin roof with me recently. She seems to think very carefully about what she says."
Weiss nodded. She thought she knew the answer to this question. "I do not know, but talking as a fellow brooder, the girl is probably feeling guilty about playing happy families in front of you."
Yang laughed, "That girl can feel guilty about anything. Ok, I will give her a hug and tell her that I am happy for her, and I understand why she did not want to tell me she was a Faunus Princess."
Weiss decide that this was not the time to discuss the constitution of Menagerie, especially as there was some truth to the princess analogy. She thought it best to get another point out of the way.
"By the way, Yang, in the unlikely event that you ever feel the need to apologise me, any chance of letting it go at a shake of the hands."
"I will try and remember. While I don't understand why hugs make you feel uncomfortable, I do get that making you uncomfortable detracts from an apology."
Weiss said, "Weren't you also discussing Velvets bullets with her?"
"I'd said my piece and Ruby's more the analytical one on that score. Besides which Crescent Rose packs a bigger punch than my weapon. Velvet and Ruby are geeking out about fighting Alpha Grimm with it and Coco just loves watching them both getting tongue-tied in their enthusiasm and just making noises and waving their hands in the air. Anyway, time to lurk outside the meeting and hijack Blake to tell her not to worry about pussy footing around me."
Weiss decided if that Yang was not suspicious about Coco's quick retreat then it was not her job to do more than hint that Coco had been up to something. She was also aware that Yang could get away with the cat jokes in a way which Weiss could never dare to.
Perhaps it had been the fact that alone among her team she had not taken part in the fight with the White Fang at Junior's because she had six members of the Atlas diplomatic protection squad, but she wished she could go along to Mistral as well.
She had little doubt that Coco was currently talking Ruby and Velvet into flying out to Mistral just to keep their friends' company and if some Grimm happened along them well no one was going to worry about them joining in. Coco could afford to pay the expenses and she had indicated that her mother regarded any Grimm killing as good publicity, provided Coco was not seriously injured.
She was not surprised when it turned out that she had been correct. Ruby accompanied by Velvet shortly returned to the dorm and packed a small case of clothes and a larger case of ammunition and weapon maintenance materials.
While Ruby had been clearly ready to talk to Yang, she was a little relieved that her sister was not around. She asked Weiss if she could deliver a letter from Coco to Ozpin's office just after he went to have his evening meal telling him that they all gone to Mistral as part of their holidays. The letter was handed over together with a letter for her team which explained what they up to.
Velvet explained that Coco had persuaded them that by making it clear that Yang could not go to Mistral that he was hinting that it was OK for the rest of them to go. Ozpin had in effect said that she and Ruby were the first reserves and so it made sense for them to be on hand so that there will be no delay if they were called upon. Besides which they were not being saviours from Vale, they were simply providing moral support for their Mistralian teammates and friends and going on holiday to another kingdom.
Ruby added that Coco had explained that this way it allowed Ozpin to say honestly that he could not have stopped them going with plausible deniability.
Weiss suggested that to avoid alerting Yang and Blake until after the three had left Beacon for the ride in the Adel company bullhead, they should leave the letter in Weiss's bedside locker, and she would make herself scarce until after they had left Beacon. She then went to the CCT tower to have the formal discussion with the Atlas diplomatic protection service and to speak to Klein about another idea she had.
When her father had given his reluctant permission for her to go to Beacon he had insisted that when she travelled outside the grounds that she liaise with the Atlas embassy and in practice that meant when she went into Vale she was followed by between two to six members of the Atlas diplomatic squad. They also could veto particularly dangerous excursions. She knew from past experience that other than trips to Argus and to the more exclusive bits of Mistral City they were not happy about her going to Mistral at all.
She was not surprised that when she raised the prospect of going to Ansel province they said that this would not be possible. First, they would be unable to obtain the necessary permissions from the Mistral authorities for the squad to travel with her in less than a week and also on the basis that they were scared that there would be a kidnapping attempt by the Mistral criminal gangs, the White Fang or by Yang's mother.
They still insisted that while they accepted that the main target of the attack at Junior's Club Mistralian had been Kali Belladonna they could not rule out that Weiss had been a secondary target. They said that the team which had abseiled down the roof to be greeted by a combination of Oobleck, Coco, Glynda and Nora had been high on the list of the most dangerous members of the White Fang while the downstairs attackers had been definitely the B or even C team. Weiss pretended to strop about it but was secretly pleased.
She then rang Klein. He was a combination of butler and fixer in the Schnee mansion and basically the only person on good terms with all the members of the family. Weiss caveated this thought by thinking that her father found him useful and respected his ability to mediate between Jacques and the rest of the family.
In retrospect Klein's advice had been invaluable in persuading her father to allow her to attend Beacon. Yesterday he had been encouraging her to arrive earlier than planned and had told her that one of the family airships was currently in Vale. He had explained that her absence had made everyone forget how bad the tensions had been and that recent publicity had been seen as good for the SDC.
She contacted him to say that she was now intending to return early This was provided that she could bring one of her teammates as a guest. She explained who it was. He chuckled and said that he would get back to her but would be surprised if either of her parents objected to the proposal.
She sighed to herself. She was not sure that Yang would accept the offer but was counting on her feeling like she did. Beacon would not be the same with all their close friends away and most of their acquaintances seeing their families. Not being able to fight alongside Ruby, most of Team JNPR and Team CFVY might seem less frustrating in Atlas then it did here. Besides which Weiss thought Yang might enjoy a break.
She gave it quarter an hour after having receive d a message from Coco that she had left Beacon and had arranged transport with her family before returning to the dorm.
She returned to find Blake on her bunk reading and Yang was combing her hair in the bathroom. She had taken her notebook with her to the CCT tower and so had a ready excuse to open her locker. She took out the envelope and opened it. She decided that it would be best not to give a running commentary on her actions.
She pretended to quickly skim the letter and then coughed. Blake looked up and said, "I presume you have something to tell me."
"Ruby's gone to Mistral with Coco and Velvet. She's asked one of us to leave a letter telling Ozpin that they have left Beacon on holiday to Ansel province in mistral to support their friends. They apologise for not saying goodbye in person, but none of us were in when they dropped by, and they thought that it was best to make an exit before Goodwitch could order them not to."
She handed the letter to Yang and Blake read it over Yang's shoulder. She was worried about Yang's reaction, but despite a momentary flash of the eyes, she took it well.
"Well, I suppose I told her to make new friends and I can hardly blame her for doing what I wanted to do. Still, it buggers up my holiday plans."
Weiss said, "It does?"
"Once dad finds out he will be on a flight to Mistral. He still worries it is too early for Ruby to be here and to have her first out of kingdom mission being unsupervised will upset him. He won't drag her back, but he will want to make sure that she is OK."
Blake said, "She and Coco are well up to dealing with a few Grimm. Velvet will also be there, and I gather she is pretty god as well."
"Ruby looks too much like mum. He was proud of how she dealt with that Nevermore, but it frightened him that she was a s brave as mum. The gap between brave and foolhardy is a narrow one."
Weiss said, "Port will be with them, and they are simply there as moral support."
"Can you imagine Coco and Ruby not joining in if there is an attack. Besides which while dad was happy about the Grimm hunt with Port, in part that was because I would be there to look after Rubes. Also, you would be there to suggest a little caution."
"Hey!"
"It's not a bad thing. Ruby does listen to you, and she has benefitted from your advice. You are a little sneakier than she is."
"Hey"
"That is a good thing, Ice Queen."
Blake said, "Yang is right. Also, he knows we have been working together as a team for a term and so are used to looking after each other and implementing team attacks. No offence to Coco, but she is more of a tank and the rest of her team have quite different styles to Ruby."
Weiss thought that the time was ripe. "Look, with Blake going to Menagerie tomorrow, you and I will be on our own, Yang."
"And you will be off to Atlas in a few days' time."
"Would you like to come to Atlas with me? I think that if I agree to come home early I will be allowed to bring a friend and there are around ten spare bedrooms."
Blake said, "Go on Yang. See how the other 0.001 percent lives. I can leave the letter for Ozpin."
Yang said, "Actually, it will feel more like a holiday and less like I have been deserted."
Weiss returned to the CCT tower and made the arrangements with Klein, As Klein had predicted neither Willow nor Jacques had raised any objection to hosting one of the heroines of the White Fang attack on Junior's Club Mistralian if that was the price of getting Weiss to come home early. Weiss did say that Jacques had mused whether there was any downside when he heard who Yang's mother was but had satisfied himself by simply telling Klein to ensure that the servants treated Yang with respect.
Yang had been packed when Weiss returned. She had also left a message for her father on the home phone number saying where she was going and saying that she had expected that Taiyang would want to be in Mistral in Ruby.
They were now in the air and Yang was being introduced to the concept of luxury service.
"Weiss, how can you face travelling Bullhead after being used to this?"
"One can get used to anything. Seriously, I am not so up myself that I do not know that this is unusual and that I have not done anything personally to deserve this treatment apart from being born into wealth."
After dinner had been served the stewards retreated saying that if Weiss or Yang needed anything more they should just press the intercom buzzer. Weiss explained that the staff had drilled into them the need for guests to feel able to speak freely and that Klein had assured her that they were not being recorded.
Yang said, "While I know that the Remnant Enquirer version of your family cannot be true, is there anything I need to know about."
"Father is permanently busy and is often annoyed by things. At most we will see him at dinner or if you have a very early breakfast, then. I expect tomorrow night he will try to spend time with us. Mother is rarely up before nine and has a busy social calendar."
Weiss paused, "Look one reason I never asked about yours and Blake's families is because mine is not a notably happy one. My mother and father have terribly busy lives and do not mix much with each other besides at public events where they try to be polite to each other. Whitley is my irritating younger brother who wants to be like father and to impress him but has not got the experience or the power to manage it yet. If anything goes badly wrong he runs to mother who he tries to ignore at other times. I am going to attempt to be nicer to him this holiday and not rise to his provocations."
Yang said, "If it makes it any easier, I will talk about my family and perhaps we can share. "You may think that I was being stupid, but we never talked about Raven Branwen at home. As far as I was concerned Ruby's mother was my mum. Dad did not talk about Raven much. What happens in Mistral is not important in Patch. It was really only when it started to be reported that the White Fang and the Branwen tribe were working together that I realised that she was more than a simple criminal."
"My father respects her. He says that you can trust her to obey the letter of her promises and to fulfil her threats."
Yang said, "You know that I smashed up Junior's before term started."
"Yes, I remember him commenting that he was not sure whether you or the White Fang had caused much damage."
"Just before I started at Beacon, Uncle Qrow handed me a letter from mum. She had apparently written a letter for me before she went on her final mission with instructions for him to hand it over when I finished at Signal. Please do not tell Ruby but I need to speak to someone about this. In it she said that I should not hate my egg donor, that despite everything she was not an evil woman and had made a hard choice when she realised that whatever she did she would be breaking a promise. That while Summer would not have made the same choice herself, she respected Raven's reasons."
"This was about the woman who had broken with her team and left you immediately after giving birth?"
"Yes. I asked Uncle Qrow about it and apart from saying that mum was too eager to see the best in people explained that my egg donor and him had originally come to Beacon to learn how to kill hunters and huntresses to protect the tribe from them. That when they had got to Beacon they had decided after a year or so to become hunters for real and that defending the people of remnant against Grimm was more worthwhile than allowing a tribe of bandits to defend themselves against anyone who tried to stop them looting towns and villages or killing people."
"So what changed her mind?"
"Uncle Qrow claimed not to know and said that in any event nothing could justify abandoning me and dad."
"Did you speak to your father?"
"No, he never mentions her, and it would have felt like betraying him and mum to raise it with him."
"Despite the fact that Summer had said that your egg donor was not evil?"
"I was not certain how he would react to mention of mum and the egg donor. Look I told you that after mum died, he did not deal with things well. Basically, it took him three years to get his act together and one of the things that did not help was that I am as Coco said, I am a blonde version of my egg donor and Ruby takes after Summer. He finds it works better for him to bottle things up rather than face them head on and then hit the bottle."
"He always seems very pleasant when he comes and visits."
"He is overprotective of us. He tried hard to persuade me and Ruby not to go down the huntress route. He never had a chance with Ruby and I just enjoying rebelling against him. Things have got better over the last five years, but for a few years I was in effect acting as Ruby's parent and I find it harder to forget than to forgive. Eventually he gave in and decided that the best thing he could do was teach us to fight. If nothing us if we wanted to visit Mum's memorial we needed to walk through a Grimm infested forest to get there. Lovely view once you get there, mind, but still."
"My mother also takes solace in alcohol. She is rarely coherent after 8 in the evening."
"Why is that?"
"Her and father said the things which could not be unsaid or unheard to each other. It was when he failed to attend my tenth birthday that they finally lost it with each other. It took lots of talks from Winter saying that I should not blame myself and that the blow-up was bound to happen."
It was Yang's turn to squeeze Weiss's hand. "What was the argument really about?"
"What he was doing to the SDC, the suspicion that he had only married her to gain control of the SDC after grandpa died, that he had affairs. He felt that he was doing what was necessary to allow the SDC to compete against the older more established multi-kingdoms founded by the aristocrats, that she had painted an idealised picture of grandpa and his business practices, was too high maintenance and despised him."
"Had you realised this before?"
"Previously they had kept up the act of loving parents in front of me and Whitley at any rate. Winter was so much older than me and Whitley and was more observant. That was one of the reasons I blamed myself."
Weiss paused, "Also when my father got angry, my temptation was to blame the things which made him angry. You should have heard me on the subject of the White Fang only two years ago."
"What changed?"
"I grew older and realise that as Winter was one of the main things which made him angry, perhaps the other causes had their justifications as well. Winter told me some about what had happened in the mines in Vacuo, and it was hard to deny that the White Fang had some justification for their actions after that."
"I saw you were not totally surprised by the dead Faunus with the branded eye at Junior's."
"No. I had heard stories and Blake says that one of the White Fang's most vicious killers is also branded that way. Even my father was less angry than normal when the White Fang kidnapped, tortured, and murdered the head of the SDC's Vacuoan operations. I like to believe that there are some things he thinks are wrong or at least are ultimately counterproductive."
"How do you and Blakey discuss politics so stridently without fighting?"
"Both of us hope that we can find common ground and the more we talk to each other the more common ground we find we have. It also helps to understand what each side finds important and making accommodations where a thing is important to one side and unimportant to the other. Anyway. why did you destroy the club?"
"A little bit drunk and I had been told that if you want information in Vale, the owner of Junior's is the man to go to."
"Still, why destroy the premises?"
"He said that it was more than his life was worth to discuss the Raven, only he was not very polite about it. I simply refused to take no for an answer."
"Please restrain yourself in Atlas. Neither my father nor General Ironwood are known for their tolerance and forgiving natures."
"Message received and understood."
Yang checked her scroll. She was impressed by how good the reception was in the private airship. "Dad is on his way to Ansel; Ruby is already there and says Pyrrha has joined them as well."
Weiss nodded, "Both me and Coco tipped her off that the rest of Team Juniper would be there."
Sorry for the gap since the end of The Trials of Cardin. I originally intended to start this one a week or so later in story time, but then realised that I wanted to investigate the family relationships in RWBY. I do not think we have seen the rest of the team see Blake with Kali and I wondered how they would feel about it.
The next chapter will deal with Yang and Weiss's reactions to the events at the end of Jaune's Winter holiday. My aim is that there will be no need to have read the story to understand what is going on.
