"The date is May 25, 1996," Al said. "You've also leaped into a young man named John Duke. Ziggy says you're here to save the lives of both John and his fiance Carla West. Later this month, the two I are found dead in their bedroom."

"From a break-in gone wrong?"

"Fortunately, a lot less violently. From carbon monoxide poisoning, but killed all the same."

Fortunately that was a lot simpler to take care of.

"So, what happened exactly?"

"Ziggy says it was from a faulty oven eye," Al replied. "They were found in bed, so whatever happened to it must have happened that night. But, it turns out ironically enough, they actually had a carbon monoxide detector."

"Was it messed up too? Why didn't it go off?" Sam asked.

"It seems they never actually put it up. It was found stashed in a pantry." Al pointed. "That one right there, actually. They had family say how the two always meant to put it up, but just never got around to it."

"Well, I think it's high time to cross it off their to do list, don't you think?"

Al nodded. "I would agree."

Sam was just coming down from the ladder when a woman he presumed to be Carla walked in. She looked up and saw the detector.

"Oh, good," Carla said, "you got the detector up. I was beginning to think we were never going to hang that thing up. I mean, I doubt we'll ever need it, but better safe than sorry."

"Right," Sam replied as he gently flicked his index finger towards her.

"And now you have that finished, maybe you can take care of a few other things since you're in the mood."

Sam gave a small smile. "Of course."

A few beeps came from Al's link. "And it looks like they end up safe. The carbon monoxide detector works like a charm. The detector warns John and Carla about the carbon monoxide seeping into their apartment. They got out, called the fire department, and, most important of all, survived just fine. They even end up marrying later and starting a family a few years from now." Al lowered his link and looked back to Sam. "Looks like everything turns out just fine now."

Sam disappeared in a blue light
