Harry has been struggling trying to figure out how to improve the agriculture so the government doesn't send people to their deaths. It's been about eight months since he's arrived in the strange world, and he's spent most of it gaining information on anything he finds of use.

Particularly the key factors, like what type of government is being operated, along with the dirty secrets, followed by any trails of Sirius, he can admit not resorting to magical means since he's been postponing actually finding Sirius as long as possible, scared to find him not remember or care for him any longer.

The information he's found is both vast and vague.

The government is run by the monarchy, but the military tends to deal with the execution of it, the nobles almost feel like figureheads, which isn't something he hasn't encountered before. A particular factor still makes him feel weird.

For instance the king.

Harry feels off about the king, he thought the royal blood was supposed to be special so why does "his majesty" feel so mundane? They are hiding something big, and he feels it has to do with the reason there's only a hundred years of recorded history.

Thinking about the corrupt government makes his mind wonder back to his current dilemma, if what he's heard is true.

He only has another month before they finally sacrifice the people.

He's spent the last month between helping the grandfather with his heavier task and bonding with the kids, while also building up a repertoire with the noble who owns the farm,on Death's advice.

Currently the man thinks of him as a mercenary, which he found out is very useful for keeping people's mouths shut, and for intimidation. If the timid way the noble hurried to make him feel comfortable indicated.

By using the nobles' wish to keep the kingsman content, something Harry doesn't know, or understand is the significance of his pretend status since he hasn't had the time to truly search more on that particular subject a he would need to travel to Shina, and he doesn't have the time to spare, with thousands of lives depending on him. He's already wasted enough just finding his bearings.

He knows soon he'll have to make his persona as a mercenary more concrete and to do that he'll need to investigate in the capital.

Upon returning from the nobles resistance one evening a few days into his first week with the four, he found a man named Shadis holding his ward, after scanning the man's mind, because he was holding an unconscious Eren, who wouldn't be worried and look, he relaxes as he sees the man just found him unconscious in the woods, though the bright light he saw was eerily familiar. Reminding him of those children from beyond the wall but with their location being so close and the boys' vitals haven't fluctuated since that day. He doesn't feel it's important enough to investigate, cynically he doesn't have the time to juggle so many kids.

If he knew the future he would have kicked himself in the ass for his laziness.

The man shadis was surprised to see that the boy he found and knows is something special, was connected to someone who is must be a mercenary as they are the only ones with no particular set uniform, the strange symbol on the man's jacket is ominous, he wonders if he deals in assassinations, but the man's youthfulness makes him unable to comprehend such a thing. Fortunately, when he looks away from the mark branded on the man's breast any thought of said mark disappears.

Meeting the jewel-like eyes of the short man, who looks young but has the same aura of his successor, though this one's is more of a subtle draw than the bright pull of his favorite blonde.

Clearing his throat he speaks "I found this young boy…passed out in the woods and I couldn't leave him. As I was walking towards the medical wing, a kind woman told me he was staying around, with a green eyed cute boy being his older brother." Making him flush both at the complinternally reminding him of the first time Eren slipped out, "big brother."

Gently drawing the boy into his arms, who has become so dear to him, but no less than Armin and Mikasa. He gives the man a look, feeling the self hate flooding off of him.

"Your kindness is truly appreciated, most wouldn't have bothered, or at the least would have just nudged him awake then be on their way, you're a good man Mr..?" Not knowing the stress lined man's name.

"Ah, uh, Shadis, comman- Keith Shadis' ' Shadis states awkwardly, still not used to not being commander.

"It's no problem. I couldn't in good heart just leave the little guy there, especially with how high tensions are right now" Keith says the last part softly as if his voice could instigate a riot alone.

"Yeah, you're not wrong on that" shifting Eren so his weight is more manageable, feeling the puffs of air, and ignoring the thrum he feels pulsing out of the boy in favor of keeping his attention on the man 'Keith, no Shadis sounds better.'

Who happens to be a commander.

'maybe fate doesn't hate me so much after all?'

Deciding that he could use some genuine company and having a commander even former as a friend is good for credibility as he figures out how to make his identity more solid "Would you like to stay for a bit?"

Blinking in surprise Shadis starts to turn down the surprisingly kind man "no, I, couldn't intrude. I-"

Nonsense, you did me a great favor, I would have been worried sick about him otherwise, the least I can do is give you a cuppa" his slang slipping out "besides I have a meal on the stove that could use another mouth to disperse"

Shadis can't fathom this man, to give out a meal, to a stranger? In these trying times. He feels his decline die on his lips at the earnest eyes.

'One meal couldn't hurt.' Shadis thinks as he inclines his head, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders at the comforting presence the man eludes.

Harry watches as Armin sobs into the bed. It's been three days since the government brought to fruition the culling as they called it. Even with the increase of production that Harry was able to do it wasn't enough. He underestimated how much more it took to farm, gardening was easier. He can admit that he was overconfident.

He wished he could have had Neville's green thumb.

luckily, if you can say that, with the increase of the production of food the amount of people was only 15% as to the 20% that they were talking about doing.

'Still 60,000 lives were spared, that has to be something' Harry thinks desperate to not feel guilty for those he failed.

Ever the martyr he is.

Sadly Harry witnessed a certain grandfather volunteer, stating he's not gonna be here long enough to take another's place. Harry can respect the man, but maybe it's his connection to death that soothes something in him with the man's decision, though the heartfelt talk with the man who entrusted his dear grandson was enlightening.

It was the first time he got to let his secret out, cynically trusting the walking dead man. He didn't expect the man to hug him while telling him that he was such a brave boy, and he's been through so much, yet still fights for the better, the grandfather asked him to look after his grandson, Harry said yes before the man could even finish, tears glisten his eyes at the sweet man who grew on him.

He never got to experience a grandfather until now, no matter how little the time spent with him was.

The man's parting words were "can rest easy knowing that the master of death is watching over everything" He hates that he can't afford to do anything stupid with the attention he's gotten from his rashou stunt with fiendfyre.

The year is 846 three months since the culling.

A year since he arrived.

And now he's found a way to gain legit citizenship.

It was from an offhand comment by Shadis, even after all this time he can't seem to call the man by his first name, Shadis just fits him.

Shadis was talking about how his successor was planning on searching in the underground for something, but Harry wasn't paying attention, after the man said that the man that it was a place were only those who gained, or had a citizenship could leave.

"Gain?"

"Ah, i sometimes forget that despite your way of talking you're prettying ignorant to the working of the inner wall"

'The underground is exactly what is stated. A place were those who the capital see as rejects are thrown in, or have lived since well, I don't know to be honest"

"So, to leave they need to gain a citizenship"

"Or they need to have a sponsor for lack of a better term-,oh so that's what Erwin is planning must be the rumors of a talented ODM user going around, he's always been one to never turn down something of value, the man scares me with his intensity sometimes."

Now he finds himself standing in? He honestly doesn't even want to know. Stepping out of the…puddle. He scourgifies his boots before making sure his cloak is activated.

Stepping out of the dark alley, though most of the place is dark.

He wrinkles his nose at the uncleanliness before masking the stench with a simple flick. Side stepping a sleeping person he starts towards, he doesn't have a particular destination, he just knows he needs to search for flying people, if he wasn't who he is that would have made him feel incredulous.

He wants to try those things out sometime.

Hearing the talesign of air spitting into the air makes him pull his gaze up watching as two figures soar through the 'sky', the smaller one being more fluid than the other who is more sturdy but no less impressive.

He can't help but watch the lithe one, who has the grace of a bird.

'And I thought my brook skills were amazing' not that he can't pull off those stunts but he doesn't look nearly as, dare he say it beautiful.

Pulling out his broom which gets engulfed into his cloak's magic he pushes off following them knowing these are the ones Shadis mentioned.

"Where the hell is that shitty ginger" the smooth voice of the irritated man reaches his ears as the two pause to gaze around the depressing place,

Harry puts it in the back of his mind to help out these people when he can.

"She's probably in trouble knowing her bratty ass" the dirty blonde says in response.

"Tch, if she doesn't show her face she'll be cleaning the floors with a single bristle."

"Jeez, Levi, that's a little harsh don't you think?" Farlan knows his friend is serious. The clean freak he is, though given the place they live in he can't really fault the man, especially since he's taken care of him and Isabel, who recently joined up with them.

"I told her to stay in my sight, it's not that hard of an order, the damn idiot"

Harry finds them fascinating, and wonders who this 'ginger bitch' is.

Harry styles as the grey eyes seem to sweep over him, as if he can be seen.

"Levi?" The dirty blonde asked the now named Levi, who shakes his head before taking off with a simple. "It's nothing."

Not risking following them with that encounter, Harry decides to search for the 'ginger bitch' , seeing a fantastic opportunity to gain access to them.

Following the intuition that's helped him throughout his life, when he's actually listening to it. He can tell the man who could sense him is something, or someone important.

His eyes catch the sight of a reddish purple pixie haired girl stumbling onto the ground with a grunt.

Must be the 'ginger bitch' Levi spoke about.

As he lowers he can hear her grumble making him grin.

"God damnit, now big bro is gonna make me clean."

" I just wanted to do this on my own for once, now I won't be able to do it again if Farlan finds out I ran out of air, with how hard it is to get it." Her short locks flick in her agitation.

Looking at her he can see that it's not in the best condition compared to those on the surface but it's not a danger, yet.

Picketing his broom he feels his clothing mold into something less intimidating still marveling at his dear invisibility cloaks new abilities.

Saves him a lot of time with washing clothing.

As the loose cloth drapes over him he grins before tilting his head towards the young spunk.

"Alright there?"

She whips her head around her hand reaching for the rusty blade stuck in one of the holsters. Her gaze took in the man before her. His outfit looks a little too nice and clean, but then again her big bro is able to be that clean.

"Wha'ya want" scowling at the pretty boy with bright green eyes.

"Oh sorry I just heard a bunch of ruckus and hoped it wasn't anything sinister."

"Everywhere here is sinister, city boy"

Ah, eh, is it that obvious?" Harry asks knowing truthfulness is a long way to building trust.

"Well no one who's from here would say sinister for the shit that goes on here, only the pompous fucktards upstairs would ever try sugarcoating this shit"

Harry isn't used to cursing so much ever since he's spent so much time with the little munchkins, not to say they don't curse just…

"I see, I'll use that for next time" Harry jokes to lighten the mood.

"May I ask your name? I'm Harry"

"Harry? Well the name's Isabel and don't forget it" she says pulling into a fierce stance.

"Don't worry I couldn't forget such a character"

"Hey! What is that supposed to mean?"

Instead of answering he just grins, while he holds out a piece of chocolate. Seeing the hesitation he unwraps it while breaking off a bit, and popping it in his mouth.

"Here it's good I promise" is he using food to gain trust again. Yes, it worked the first time so why not try it again. Watching in satisfaction as she brightens in delight at the taste of the chocolate.

Isabel can feel tears welled up in her eyes at the delicate sweet taste melting in her mouth, she's never tasted something so good.

This strange man gave her a seemingly invaluable treat for nothing other than what she can see is just wanting to do it.

"W-what is this?"

"Chocolate"

'Chocolate' She understands now why people revere it so much. It makes her sad that it's just annoying other things she won't experience in this horrible place.

Harry keeps his face straight as he feels the ward he placed around start to tingle indicating that the two are nearing.

Never noticing the keen eyes that catch him dipping into the ally or the curiosity in them when they are told of what said man did.

A/n: So for this fic instead of Erwin recruiting levi in 844 it will be 846 I don't think this affects the story too much as he wasn't essentially at that time.

I have ideas that are father into the story than I have written, so I may spout something that may or may not come to fruition, so unless it's in the actual story take most of what I say with a grain of salt

I have ideas that are father into the story than I have written.

Again sorry for the grammatical errors.

Don't call me out for ignoring the Chibi warriors it's retcon at its best but Harry just forgot about them.

Because to him in the grand scheme of things children in the woods would stay in his mind. And the tracking/monitoring charm would keep him content.

…And for plot.

Him being close to Eren and them well protagonist perks. Plot armor gots to stick to gather right.

Well then I should add Reiner since he's got so

much.

Haha.
