A Day Later
The whole Loud family had packed up their things for the trip to Professor Rex's amusement park on his private island. They all flew together on in the professor's private jet across the ocean. Most of the kids were enjoying the flight they could barely sit still. Lynn Jr. and Lana kept running from window to window looking out at the ocean, Lola enjoyed a nap in one of the recliner seats, Leni walked around commenting on every interior decoration she saw, Lori sat in her seat texting, Luna listened to inflight music on headsets, Luan was telling airplane-based jokes and puns, and Lucy found a dark corner of the plane to just sit alone in. Lincoln mostly stared out a window hoping to get a glimpse of their destination.
"I can't wait to see the professor's theme park," he excitedly told the readers. "I wonder what attractions it'll have. I hope they have a waterslide."
Lisa and Lily sat with their parents while talking with Professor Rex, Ms. Stirling, and a man named Thomas Kempson.
Mr. Kempson was a thin man with brown hair and wore glasses and a gray suit. He was a lawyer sent by Rex's investors to inspect the theme park and make sure it lived up to their safety standards. Kempson was not very fond of the Loud kids due to their obnoxious and rambunctious behavior. Although, he did appreciate Lisa for her intelligence and Lincoln for his manners.
"Glad you all have met Mr. Kempson," the professor told the Louds. "He is here by request of my investors to ensure them that my park is safe and secure."
"Let's hope so," the lawyer skeptically replied. "The last theme park I inspected for safety barely passed."
"So, professor, what exactly is your theme park based on?" Lynn Sr. curiously asked.
"How many of you have studied prehistory?" he asked in response.
"Well, I took a class in seventh grade," Rita answered holding Lily in her lap.
"I have studied it extensively," Lisa said. "The period of human history, or farther back, to before mankind started recording their history. Fossils of dinosaurs were a great way to study their time before their extinction. It's fascinating to learn about. A shame that humans of modern day can never meet them face-to-face. That would be a truly wonderous experience."
"Well, I'm sure we're all in for a few surprises," the professor said optimistically.
"Hey guys!" Lincoln called to everyone. "I think I see an island!"
The rest of the sisters scrambled to find a window to look out of. They all gasped in awe when they saw a large island approaching. As the jet flew over the island, the passengers saw that there were mountains and forests as far as the eye could see. Then they came across a clearing where a small runway lay. The plane gently touched down and came to a stop on the runway.
A team of workers wearing orange uniforms moved a staircase up to the plane's door as it opened. The Loud sisters excitedly scrambled to be the first to get off the plane. The long flight was over, now they were eager for the real adventure to begin. The team of workers were surprised to see so many kids had come along as guests. Professor Rex, Lisa, Lincoln, Lynn, Rita, Lily, Ms. Stirling, and Mr. Kempson calmly followed.
"Welcome back, professor," one of the workers greeted his employer. "Three jeeps have been prepared as you requested."
"Excellent," Rex replied.
A caravan of three white and red jeeps drove through a green jungle. Professor Rex drove the jeep in front with Lincoln, Lisa, Lynn Sr., Rita, and Lily as his passengers. The second jeep was driven by Ms. Stirling with Lori, Leni, Luna, and Luan as her passengers. The third jeep was driven by a worker whose passengers were Mr. Kempson, Lynn Jr., Lucy, Lana, and Lola.
"Are we there yet?" Lynn Jr. impatiently shouted.
"Ooh, got service!" Lori happily said checking her phone. "Ugh, lost it. Ooh, got service! Ugh, lost it."
"Are we almost to the park's entrance?" Lynn Sr. asked.
"We're not heading to the main entrance," the professor answered much to the Louds' confusion. "I want to give you all a little treat of what's instore."
The Louds raised curious eyebrows. He was really eager to show them what he had before the theme park. The three cars came to a huge metallic gate with a big door. At the very top of the door was a sign with big illustrated yellow letters with red and white outlines that read 'Dino World'.
"Dino World?" a confused Lincoln read the sign.
"Open gate 32.6," Professor Rex said into a walkie-talkie.
On his order, the door slowly opened allowing the three vehicles to enter. After they were through, the door slowly closed behind them. On the other side was a huge meadow covered in green grass and tall trees. The professor giggled excitedly as the vehicles drove further into the meadow which Lisa took notice of.
"Judging by the name we saw above the gate, I can assume your discovery has something to do with dinosaurs," the young prodigy deduced.
"Mankind has learned about dinosaurs by studying their fossilized remains for years," the professor explained. "I know you've studied a little paleontology yourself. But have you ever wondered what it would be like to see a living dinosaur in person?"
"That would be a fascinating experience," Lisa answered. "However, highly improbable. Dinosaurs have been extinct for over 60 million years. We can only learn about them through their fossilized remains. The likelihood of seeing a living, breathing dinosaur in modern day is 1,345,685.72 to 1."
While Lisa was talking about the likelihood of seeing real dinosaurs, Lily turned her attention to the left. Then she saw something outside of the jeep that caught her undivided attention. Her eyes went wide and her jaw dropped in amazement.
"Dino! Dino!" she cried tugging on her mother's shirt and pointing to the outside of the jeep.
"What is it, Lily?" Rita responded in a playful tone to her youngest daughter. "Do you see something?" Then she looked to where her baby was pointing and donned the same expression as her.
"Something the matter, Honey?" Lynn Sr. asked noticing his wife's speechless expression. "You look like you've seen a– DINOSAUR!" He cried as he looked out the jeep window.
Started by her father's high-pitched screech, Lisa looked out the window. Immediately, her eyes went wide and her jaw dropped in shock and amazement. Standing about a football field away from the jeep was a giant creature with four long legs, a massive body, tough skin, a long tail, and a very long neck. It was devouring leaves from a tall, nearby tree on a small hill. The professor could barely hold back a chuckle at the dumbstruck expressions of his guests.
"And… that would be 1," Lisa said.
"O… M… GOSH!" Leni said. "I've like never seen a giraffe like that before!"
"That's not a giraffe, Leni. It's a Brontosaurus!" Luna corrected.
"Actually, it's a Brachiosaurus!" Lisa corrected Luna.
The other Loud children, except for Lori, and Mr. Kempson had also noticed the huge once-thought-to-be-extinct animal and were staring in complete awe at the creature. Lori had failed to notice because she was too busy texting on her phone. Without taking her eyes off the dinosaur, Luna reached her hand over and turned her older sister's face toward it.
"Hey, I'm in the middle of a text! I literally finally got some service!" the eldest Loud sibling angrily complained. But then she went silent as her eyes finally caught sight of the magnificent creature that stood before them. Dumbstruck, Lori dropped her phone onto the soft, padded floor of the jeep.
"Do you see that?!" Lana asked her twin.
"Yeah! Do you?" Lola replied.
"Oh… my…" a shocked Kempson said.
Just when the guests couldn't get anymore surprised, another Brachiosaurus suddenly came walking up the hill to eat from the same tree as the other.
"Wait! You have more?!" Lincoln asked.
"Oh yes," the professor replied calmly and proudly.
The Louds started scrambling to get out of the vehicles and ran up the hill. Not enough to get too close to the colossal dinosaurs, but enough to see over the hill at the valley below on the other side. To their shock and astonishment was a huge lake next to a forest. Drinking and bathing from the lake were all sorts of different dinosaurs. They were herbivores including other Brachiosauruses, Parasaurolophuses, and Iguanodons. Professor Rex walked up to join the speechless family.
"Honey," a shocked Lynn Sr. said to his wife.
"Yes?" an equally shocked Rita responded.
"There are dinosaurs here!"
"I know."
"How?!" Lisa asked the professor in disbelief unable to take her eyes off the many formerly-extinct creatures in the valley.
"I'll show you," the professor promised. "Louds, welcome to Dino World!"
At a little cafeteria within the nearby theme park, a janitor had just put away his supplies and made his way there. However, he was more interested in meeting with someone than having lunch. He was a man of average size, had short brown hair, light skin, and wore a dark blue uniform. Sitting at a table alone and away from other people was a younger man, possibly late 20s, eating a sandwich and drinking a soda. He was wearing a white sleeveless shirt, a red baseball cap, tan pants, a watch, and sneakers. He had light skin and black hair.
"Yo, Larson!" the young man called to the janitor and motioned him over to his table.
Larson walked over and took a seat at the table.
"Hey Max, how's the world treating you?" he greeted the young man at the table.
"Well, getting tired of working for only 30 bucks an hour," Max replied in a disappointed tone. "My computer programming skills are worth way more than that."
"Well I have good news, you won't have to put up with that much longer," Larson informed. "The boss texted me that guests have arrived."
"Finally!" Max excitedly exclaimed.
"Shh!" Larson shushed him and looked around to make sure no one was eavesdropping. "The boss has also notified Pierre and Douglas. They should be arriving tomorrow," he whispered. "You remember your part, right?"
"Of course."
"You sure you can pull it off?"
"You guys didn't bring me along for my good looks alone. I can do my part in my sleep," Max whispered boastfully. "You just make sure those other two guys can do theirs."
"Well, I'd better go get ready," Larson said getting up to leave. But then he was stopped when Max grabbed his sleeve.
"Just so you and the boss remember, my skills and loyalty don't come cheap," he warned before releasing the janitor's sleeve. "The professor's going to realize that the hard way."
