AN: So this is sort of how Mine was supposed to begin at the beginning (ballroom scene) before I decided I wanted that version of Kennett to progress into a more gradual relationship; then that was going in a completely different direction anyway, but I couldn't drop THIS particular idea, had to see it through. And this one is way more messy so not entirely sure what Bonnie's endgame will be. then after this, I will stop putting her through so much mess LOL.
Bear with me, please and please remember to read, share, add comments or kudos and let me know if you are enjoying this!
~ The Mikaelson Ball ~
Bonnie grabbed another flute as a server passed by and tossed it back. It was her fourth one but who was counting? She came here to do business but now that said business was taken care of she wanted to celebrate while the getting was good. One more full moon until all the Mikealson's were gone. No more two-faced Elijah, no more bitchy Rebekah, no more Klaus being Klaus! Would her life finally be able to go back to normal? Well, as normal as it could be with the Salvatore's being in town. Whatever, at least the Original Vampires will be out of the picture. She grabbed another flute and wondered when they would pump up the jams so she could get her twerk on.
Just then she noticed a pair of eyes on her. Holy shit it was the dude who sized her up earlier! Why did he look so familiar though? Not that it mattered, this was a small town, but there were man gems here spread through the town, and you were likely to find them at these town events. This meant they came from money! A thought that made Bonnie feel a bit self-conscious as she wasn't exactly rich rich, but her dad, being a workaholic, ensured he was able to provide her with a comfortable lifestyle. One that she did not take for granted and as such was very humble, although did take the occasional times to lightly indulge in life's pleasures.
She focused her thoughts back to the young man who couldn't take his eyes off her, yet he wasn't making a move towards her. Just silently regarding her. He may have been on that creeper shit. Too bad, because was the epitome of everything she'd like nothing more than to wrap herself around that night. She gave him a coy little smile and turned on her heel in the opposite direction, not noticing his knowing smirk that replaced his heated stare.
Glancing around the ballroom, she noticed Elena in a dance with Damon Salvatore, looking awfully cozy with him. She scanned the room for Stefan, prancing over in a huff once she spotted him.
"Exactly how long ago did you break up with Elena?" There was no use whispering, Damon would shamelessly hear everything they said anyway.
Stefan glanced at his wrist, which was ironically devoid of a watch. "At nine forty-two it'll be twenty-four hours. I'm not worried, I trust her. She's not Katherine,"
Stefan and Bonnie looked at each other seriously for a moment before they both burst out laughing.
When Bonnie collected herself, she rested her hand on Stefan's arm. "I know by then I'll only be here in spirit, but please, promise me you won't put yourself through this again in five hundred years. Make her meet Damon first and then steal his girl."
"hat is the exact thought that crossed my mind at nine forty-five last night, can you believe it?"
"You deserve better,"
"As do you. Bonnie, if there's anything I can help you with, I don't want you to hesitate. You can come to me," Stefan locked her green gaze in with his matching one. Bonnie shook her head in a quick, yet subtle fashion. She didn't want this getting back to Elena. Stefan was referring to a few nights prior when Bonnie was trying to get Esther Mikaelson's coffin open. She was arguing with Jeremy in the cave, who accused her of fucking Stefan and slammed her against the coffin, bruising her back. When Stefan came in to check on them, Jeremy had left with the lie that a burst of magic had thrust her back into the coffin.
She wanted to inform someone of the awful way Jeremy treated her, but she was afraid the vampires would kill him or Abby would find a witch to hex him and as much as she hated him, she didn't wish that on him. Plus, Elena thought Jeremy was a saint since he acted as such to her and everyone else. Bonnie figured if one more thing in her life went wrong in Elena's life, she would spiral and try to turn vampire. She wanted to be indestructible and invulnerable, not comprehending that vampire way to handle things was to shut off their humanity. She had already expressed those sentiments to Bonnie only, who figured it was because of Damon's shitty influence.
Her perspective shifted slightly, now that Stefan and Elena broke up. Maybe she could trust Stefan with this secret. She mouthed the words 'not here'.
Bonnie watched Caroline audibly reject Klaus and sauntered over to him after Caroline walked away. Klaus was the last person she'd ever willingly strike up a conversation with, but she was tipsy so she wasn't herself at that moment. "If you do me one favor, I'll give you some advice."
"Funny you think I actually care for your puny adolescent advice." Klaus looked pleasantly amused at the sight of a drunken little Bennett witch in a figure-flattering mermaid azure gown as she plopped down into the seat next to him.
"You can call it: intoxicated wisdom 101." She said looking up at him in drunk mirth. When he didn't say anything she added, "Don't worry, I'm not going to tell you to walk into the sunlight without your ring. Although if you decided to do that, I can't say I'd stop you."
She was testing his patience now. "Why are you here Bonnie, just to lorde your witch powers over me? Think it's a wise idea to test me at such a public venue?"
Bonnie rolled her eyes. "Oh my gawwwwd Klaus, get over yourself. I really just have some advice."
He rolled his eyes and turned to walk away, but not before running his eyes over her figure once more. He silently wondered if she was drunk enough for a tumble. Seeing as how Caroline was being difficult and trying to sabotage an epic romance with him at every turn.
"It's about Caroliiiinnneeeee," Bonnie said in a melodic singsong voice.
He stopped and turned back. "In that case, why don't you stick around after the ball? That'll give you plenty of time to advise me without interruption."
The look she gave him made his eyes dark with lust. This just might work out in both of their favors.
Bonnie sucked in a breath then just laughed harmoniously at the heat in his eyes. "Gawd, you are naughty. I have a boyfriend but If you change the music to something that Caroline would actually listen to, I guess I can humor you..." she trailed off and watched Klaus. So much for the hybrid and the witch tonight. Since she laughed at him, he decided to humor her on taking up her offer about Caroline. He had one of his hybrids send the DJ a message.
"There you go, you listened, that's good. She'd like that. Except Caroline has a boyfriend too, ass. Don't try to pull her out from under him and don't lust after her. Understand that she already has a man and it ain't you! But if she was single, and that's not a suggestion to kill her boyfriend because if you think she hates you now, just wait and see. And uh, oh yeah! If she were single you would still have to work for it. You know, be romantic without all these extravagant gestures. She's a person, she can't be bought. Get to know her mind and don't use what you learn about her to manipulate her or threaten her friends. She's a 21st-century girl. Treat her like a person from this year. You gotta get with the times, man. But most of all, you just can't be Klaus." Bonnie laughed a hearty giggle. "I hope that helps!"
Bonnie stood and straightened her dress. "Now, if you'll excuse me, the dance floor is calling my name." Paparazzi by Lady Gaga began to blare through the speakers.
She was really trying to toy with him. How drunk was she? Unimpressed with Bonnie's inebriated words of wisdom, Klaus extended his hand out to her.
"As a thank you, Miss Bennett, may I have this dance?" He figured it was worth a shot. The witch was more inebriated than she thought, Klaus guessed. That may work to his advantage…
Bonnie shook her head furiously. "Oh no, honey, that's girl code 101."
"Best to come with me before you fall into the wrong hands," it sounded like a gentle but firm warning.
She shook her head furiously, surmising that being in the company of vampires in the first place was already way beyond falling into the wrong hands. Aside from the fact that she could never break girl code. "Klaus, you never go for her girlfriends! Besides," she looked him up and down. "You're a little too old for me."
"What about me, darling?" A strong hold grabbed her arm and spun her around. She looked up into the eyes of hot dude from earlier. "Am I too old for you? Or a dance?"
Bonnie silently demanded that her panties stay dry and they almost let her down until she realized she'd heard the same British accent that all the Mikaelson's enunciated.
"Another Mikaelson?" Bonnie asked.
"I tried to warn you." Klaus grinned in her ear as he walked by smirking at his younger brother. "Good luck getting rid of him, Miss Bennett."
Best to quit while he was ahead, Kol practically worshiped witches and he knew he'd have to dagger him to keep him away from Bonnie, now that he'd caught sight of her.
"Go pretend you have real friends, Nik!" To Bonnie, he said, "Pay no mind to my brother. He's practically adopted." He gave her his most charming smile. "And you must be the delightful Miss Bonnie Bennett."
Bonnie had all but sobered up as her night begin to spiral. This was going all wrong! Hot guy wasn't supposed to be British or a Mikaelson because that could only mean one thing. He too, was an Original Vampire. And there he was asking Bonnie to dance. So not how she planned on spending her night. How the hell was she supposed to take home an Original Vampire? Never mind the fact that she had Jeremy, Lord knows he didn't deserve her one bit. Unfortunately, having anything to do with the particular vampire seemed out of the question at the current point.
"Which one are you?"
"I'm Kol."
"Kol Mikaelson, another thousand-year-old Original Vampire. You don't look a day over 19."
"You're good, do Beks now." He mused.
"Rebekah looks," Bonnie gazed at his presumably older sister across the ballroom to size her up. "like a Forever 21 supermodel, if that sort of thing existed."
"She's a year younger than me." Ahh. Close enough, Bonnie thought. "You're 18 aren't you? The legal age of consent..." he added when Bonnie nodded, gazing too deeply into Bonnie's eyes.
Her mouth felt dry and she grabbed another flute of the fancy champagne, slamming it back as she did the others. The music changed to a song Bonnie neither knew nor cared to hear.
Thoughts of wanton desire for the young witch plundered Kol's mind, who internally shook his head of those thoughts and straightened his back. "About that dance? Shall we?"
"Actually Kol, I think I'm going to call it a night. This music sucks." She stumbled past him. "I need to get my shawl thingy, my purse, and my keys."
Kol followed Bonnie into the coat check area but she couldn't find her belongings. Kol had a feeling her shawl was the one that matched her dress and her drunken stupor wasn't allowing her to see it.
"Is this it?" He asked holding it out for her.
"Ew, no!"
She shuffled through the coat rack three times before she cursed and slapped at what was probably her shawl. Kol made sure to grab that one as it had a purse and keys attached to it.
"I should've left it in the car," she mumbled, then she laughed. "There's no way I'm driving tonight! I need Caroline."
"I will escort you home,"
"Oh, I don't think so. That's a whole night of lowered inhibitions and bad decisions,"
"Really, what's one night?"
Bonnie giggled hysterically, going on about how she couldn't possibly have him escort her home, her father would kill her. When Kol insisted, Bonnie stopped smiling and looked at him a moment.
"Stefan," she said. Then she opened her mouth and took a deep breath.
Before she could let out a scream, Kol had covered her mouth with his hand and zipped her outside, shoving her into Rebekah's car and powering on the engine before he looked over at her.
"I'm not going to hurt you, love," Kol assured her. He'd have to remember to compel himself his own car the next day.
"Is that a promise?" she asked. Bonnie was only talking because the speed of vampire travel had her drunk ass about to vomit.
"I swear it. I currently have no reason to,"
She nodded, gave him the address to her home, and proceeded to pass out in the car.
When they arrived at Bonnie's house he carried Bonnie to her front porch and laid her out on the porch swing. She woke up as he laid her down and mumbled, gesturing to a potted plant near the window.
"The spare key," she said.
Kol found the said spare key and proceeded to unlock her door for her.
"Are you certain you'll be alright once I leave?" Kol asked.
Bonnie rose from her seat and leaned against the wall, eyeing him closely.
"I don't want you to go."
Kol perked up at that. "I'll stay if you wish, love."
"I didn't want you to be an Original. Or Klaus's brother. This isn't how my night was supposed to go. You were supposed to be some hot townie that I just haven't met yet but I'd take you home & we'd have a great night and just forget the world for a while."
"Being the town witch, we're natural enemies. This isn't what I anticipated either, to be standing before a beautiful, powerful, and promising witch. And not being able to kiss or touch you because we're natural enemies. Not to mention the fact that you tried to kill my brother." Kol sighed.
"He deserved it,"
"Oh, he most certainly did. I bear you no ill will for it, darling,"
"I don't want you to go, but you probably should." Bonnie sniffled as tears welled in her eyes. "I just wanted this to be easier. Fate always seems to be against me."
"If fate isn't working for you, then why not create your own fate?" Kol queried.
It made a lot of sense to Bonnie. Here she was trying to always do the right thing and still getting screwed. She decided to throw caution to the wind at that point.
"You know what? I'll take my fate into my own hands. Fuck it!"
Bonnie closed the gap of space between them and leaned into Kol on her tiptoes, pressing her hands to his chest. His own hands came to rest on her hips.
"Fuck it," Kol said, trying it out. "What does it mean in this instance?"
"It's what people say when they decide they've had enough and need to make a change."
Kol smirked and then Bonnie crashed her lips onto his, and he took an opportunity to deepen the kiss and as their tongues were wildly massaging one another's throats, Kol reached down and squeezed then cupped Bonnie's ass cheeks, lifting her up.
"Invite me in," Kol said with a gravelly after he forced himself to break the kiss.
Just then, Bonnie's cellphone rang.
Confusion marred Kol's usually splendid features. "Ignore that," he huffed as if that was the obvious way to proceed.
"Someone might be in trouble," Bonnie replied as she dug in her clutch and fished out her phone. Her eyes bulged in alarm for a split second when she saw it was Jeremy. Shit. He was likely on his way over. Bonnie stepped over the threshold and leaned against her door frame.
"I'm sorry Kol, you need to go. This can't happen, you and me, we can't,"
"What are you on about?"
"Just go, please. Forget you met me!" She stood up on her tiptoes in the doorway, anxiously looking towards the street.
"Bonnie, I'm not going anywhere. The only thing you should have to fear is me, however, I won't harm you. I just want to know you,"
"I have a boyfriend, who will be here any minute, Kol. Please just go." She gazed at him with imploring eyes. Kol noticed her heart had jumped when she mentioned the supposed boyfriend, which usually indicated a lie. There was so much fear in her eyes and it didn't appear to be for herself. This fear was being projected onto Kol. The little witch was concerned about him? It was endearing, all the same, laughable. Her human 'boyfriend' had been rendered obsolete the moment Kol and Bonnie kissed. If he was being honest, the moment he laid eyes on her and felt her aura, her magic, her essence, was the true moment anyone who came before for either of them ceased to matter. Bonnie would realize in due time that there wasn't anything that could keep them apart. The moment he'd come across her, he'd known there was a shift in the universe.
"Your boy pales in comparison to the utter greatness we will be. Don't you feel that?" Kol whispered as the magic of their desire swirled around them, thickening the air with warmth. It was so intense that Bonnie let out a soft moan. Kol smirked as she clamped her hand over her mouth.
"Please Kol. This is overwhelming. I can't do this right now, just go." She sighed.
Kol leaned in closer until he met the threshold barrier. "I'll be waiting for the inevitable to transpire." With that, he was gone in an instant. Bonnie closed the door and as soon as she did she heard Jeremy's car pulling into her driveway. Bonnie rushed up her stairs and peeled off her dress, kicking off her shoes near her bed. She went into her bathroom and splashed water on her face and threw her robe on when she heard pounding at the door.
Sighing she stomped down the stairs and tried to reason with Jeremy through the front door.
"It's late, I was getting ready for bed. Talk to you tomorrow?" She called through the barrier.
"Open the goddamn door, Bonnie."
"Please just wait-" Bonnie tried but was interrupted by his banging to emphasize every word he said.
"Let (bang) me (bang) in! (bang)"
She finally opened the door so Jeremy wouldn't cause a late night scene in front of her neighbors. He barged in as soon as she opened it and kicked the door closed with his heel then cornered Bonnie against the wall, blocking her in with his bulky arms.
"Where's your car? Why didn't you call me to get you home?" He demanded.
"I got a ride home,"
"From who?"
"Caroline!" Bonnie rolled her eyes and looked away in annoyance and defiance but Jeremy pinched her chin between his fingers and faced her towards him.
"You're a lying whore. Tyler took Caroline home so she's not using her car." He hissed. "Was it Damon?"
Bonnie just stared at him, silent.
"Let's go upstairs,"
"I don't want to, I need to get some sleep, Jer. Please. "
"Bonnie you lied to me and you're gonna make it up to me," he said softly. Then he pulled her upstairs for his version of makeup sex.
Outside, Kol was listening to Bonnie's soft protests and the boy's grunting. He was incensed and vowed the boy would die an excruciatingly painful death.
He walked away slowly with one hand in pocket, the other hand went for a brief run of the boy's car, his fingernails strong as diamonds, scraping the paint clear off. Kol blew the excess off his talons before he got into Rebekah's car.
~ The next day ~
Sitting at the Mystic Grille, in an empty booth hiding behind a menu, Bonnie was trying to enjoy her coffee low key. No one seemed to notice her and when Klaus and Kol-oh God, there he was again, looking like an Abercrombie model in his navy blue coat- walked in, Bonnie figured she'd slip out before either of them noticed her. The problem with vampires was, they'd sensed her presence as soon as they walked in and headed straight to her.
"Bonnie Bennett," Klaus said with a cherry lipped smile. "You missed quite the action last night, after you took your leave. Kol, had a hand in that after he came back, didn't you, Kol?"
"For the last time, it was our strumpet of a sister who wanted to kill her date. I was only trying to help." Kol flashed a knowing grin Bonnie's way. "Hello, darling,"
Bonnie gaped at the two Original brothers before she stood up, abruptly. "See, this is why I can't fuck with you damn vampires. Always trying to kill someone. Excuse me, I was just leaving," she said when she tried to push past them, namely Kol but neither of them would even budge.
"What, no hello? No thank you for last night? Where are you off to in such a hurry?" Kol asked with a look of disappointment. Klaus raised a brow.
"Hi." Bonnie stated flatly. "I have a thing. Right now. It's sort of members only. You understand,"
"This wouldn't happen to be another meeting with my mother, would it?" Klaus asked.
"Klaus, this is witch business. Not hybrid, vampire, not even big bad Original Vampire business. And if it was, I wouldn't be involved because unlike everyone else around here, I mind my own fucking business. Now if you'll both excuse me,"
Still, neither brother budged. "Come now, little witch. Have one drink with us?" Klaus beckoned her to sit back down.
"This is a public venue. I can't drink here, I'm only eighteen so that's illegal and, hey look! It's Caroline."
Klaus took a step closer, invading her personal bubble. "Don't provoke me little witch, and don't play me for a fool,"
"The blonde is behind you, fool," Kol said gesturing behind Klaus.
Caroline had walked in with Meredith Fell and they were shooting bedroom eyes at Klaus and Kol, respectively. Kol looked Meredith up and down, drinking in the sight of her. When Bonnie saw Kol's reaction to Meredith, she scoffed and slipped outside. Fucking men, all the same! She was barely two feet out of the door when she grabbed by someone who flashed away at full speed.
~ Inside The Mystic Grille ~
Inside the Grille, Kol was drilling Meredith for answers.
"I don't know what you're talking about," she replied, visibly nervous.
"You waltz in here casting a sticky eyed glance my way, as your friend did to my brother. Why? What do you have to gain by distracting us?"
"We just came in for a drink," she nudged her shoulder in the direction of the pool table. "And to play pool. You up for a game?"
"What's your name, love?"
"Meredith,"
Kol was about done wasting his time on his interrogation with Meredith. Bonnie had already taken her leave at the start of it. It seemed the women were there to distract him and Nik, and Bonnie had the opportunity to slip away at said distraction.
He presented his arm towards the pool table. "After you darling,"
Judging by the way Caroline had enticed then spurned Klaus, the way Meredith locked eyes with a seemingly drunk patron, and gave a subtle nod as she stepped past Kol, this was clearly a set up.
"On second thought, Meredith. I've got a thing, ."
"A thing?" Meredith removed her coat revealing a slinky top over her skin tight jeans. He spared her but a quick glance, quietly and duly noting how bloody tempting she actually was! Still, Bonnie had already planted the kiss of death upon him. There would be no resuscitation from that which was Bonnie Bennett.
"Precisely. It's exclusive to members only. Surely you understand," he said with a smirk as he zipped outside. The woman looked dejected but it was nothing compared to how Kol felt when he stepped outside and zipped around the perimeter. He saw the car she drove which she pointed out to him while they left the ball the previous night, but it was empty. Wondering where she could've gone so fast in the two minutes it took him to get outside, he decided to try her house.
Outside Bonnie's house he saw a woman step out of the front door, speaking into a cellphone.
~ In the woods ~
The aneurysm hit Damon as soon as he slowed his speed. "Gahhh!"
"Get your fucking hands off me!" Bonnie yelled, strengthening her spell.
Damon let go and Bonnie took an extra minute to enjoy his agony before she relieved him of the spell. She looked around, noting the familiarity of the woods that led to the old witches house. "Why are we here? I was literally on my way over here, the human way,"
"Keep your voice down," Damon hissed as he stood up. "Elijah's onto us and he's got Elena trapped. They're gonna kill her if we don't do something!"
"Oh my God. I can try and stall them but,"
"Do it! Whatever you have to do. Or I'll have to take matters into my own hands," Bonnie backed away, wondering just what he was suggesting. "Go now!"
Bonnie took off running through the woods. After a few minutes, her foot came down hard into a small dip in the ground, twisting her ankle as a result. "Aaah!"
She had to keep moving so she took careful slower steps as she pulled out her phone and dialed Abby's number.
"Bonnie, what's going on?" Abby asked from the receiver.
"Abby! I'm in the woods headed towards the witches house, Elijah's gonna kill Elena if-"
Bonnie stopped as she heard a twig snap a ways behind her. She lowered her phone.
"Bonnie! What happened?"
She turned around slowly but there was nothing in sight. Breathing a sigh of relief, she faced forward, pulling her phone to her ear again. "I just thought- Ah-"
Her scream was muffled when Kol Mikaelson clamped his hand over her mouth, turning Bonnie so her back was against his chest. "If you promise not to scream, I will keep you safe," his voice drawled out a low sibilation.
She nodded quickly.
"End your call," Bonnie complied and Kol released her from his grip. She turned around, limping on her hurt foot.
Kol frowned. "You're injured. Has it ever occurred to you to stay out of trouble?" He said, biting into his wrist offering her his blood. Bonnie shook her head, leaning away. "I don't offer my blood to just anyone. Drink or you'll die,"
"It's just a flesh wound on my ankle,"
"It won't be if I rip your ankle off," he laughed when Bonnie's eyes grew wide. She couldn't tell if he was joking, yet she wasn't willing to leave that to chance. So she took his hand pressing it against her mouth and sucked gently. Something she figured she would live to regret, as his blood was intoxicating and Bonnie felt it working it's magic to heal her ankle. Feeling as though she couldn't get enough, Bonnie pressed his wrist further into her mouth softly moaning.
Kol hissed a sigh of gratification as his fangs dropped and the veins spread out under his darkened eyes. He was enjoying this as much as she was. With his other hand he gave a tender caress against the back of her neck, encouraging her to drink more of him. Remembering how he just threatened her, she tore her mouth away and stepped back, glaring at him.
He just smirked. "Don't forget our deal. No screaming, though you are most welcome to continue making those delightful sounds of pleasure,"
"What do you want?"
"What has Elijah caught onto and why is he trying to kill the doppelwhore?"
Bonnie lowered her eyes.
"Tell me everything, little witch," Kol prompted gently. "And don't lie,"
"I'd be taking a huge risk telling you,"
"You'd be taking an even bigger risk not telling me, considering who I am,"
Ahh yes, the truth came out. Bonnie had done her research on this particular Original who took such keen interest in her last night. He was like Klaus on crack and unchecked. Stories of him slaughtering villages for no apparent reason, merely to appease his bloodlust practically made Bonnie's blood run cold at the fact that she had kissed him and nearly invited him into her home. A charming nature, Kol certainly had but underneath that facade, he was vicious, brutal, and unforgiving.
"I know all about you Kol," she stated firmly.
"Then you know not to test my patience, lest you meet a bloody end at my delivery,"
Bonnie scanned with her magic for any trace of the warmth she felt from Kol the previous night, and even earlier in the evening. There was none. "What the fuck, you said you wouldn't hurt me!"
"I really don't want to," he replied, most regretfully.
There was no fucking time for this! Bonnie decided it best to just cooperate, that was what was best for Elena. If the Originals had to die, that would happen at the cost of Elena's life. "Oh my God, Elena's going to die if I don't- Listen, your mother is trying to kill all of you, she's supposed to take you all out in one shot tonight but if I don't find a way to stop her, then Elena will be dead along with you. I just wanna save my friend but I don't know what I can do to stop Esther. She's linked you all last night with that toast, and now if Finn takes a dive to the other side, you'll all really be toast," Bonnie confessed.
Kol grinned and pulled Bonnie close to him. She looked up at him in cringing in horror as he caressed her cheek. "I knew I could trust you. You are everything pure of heart this modern-day lacks. You know loyalty like no other, don't you?"
She gulped and conflict swam rampant in her guts. Feeling the warmth of affection and tenderness from Kol who literally just threatened her was confusing. He was so hot and cold, these everchanging sentiments gave Bonnie emotional whiplash. "You are… confusing," she sighed as she tried to come to terms with just exactly what the fuck was going on.
"I won't harm you, my dear. I just had to test you, I was counting on your generous heart. We're going to save the lives of my siblings and me, as well as your doppelganger. Together," he took her hand and tenderly rubbed his thumb on the space above her knuckles.
"How can we stop her?" Bonnie whispered.
"You'll stall my mother. My brothers and I will take care of the rest," Kol assured her, taking the young witch's face in his hands tenderly.
~ Out in the woods ~
"Abby!" Bonnie rushed towards her mother who was walking up towards Esther and Finn near the old witches house.
Finn and Bonnie spoke at the same time. "They're coming,"
"No, it's too soon!" Esther said. "Sisters, inside. The witches will protect you," then she narrowed her eyes at Bonnie. "Somethings not right. What has happened?"
"Esther, you have to stop! They're coming, they're going to kill Elena if you don't stop this!" Bonnie cried.
"Elena has served her purpose and she will be granting us a very noble sacrifice, should it come to that," Esther replied with a solemn expression.
Bonnie frowned and lunged at Esther, only for Abby to grab her arms. "You old bitch! You're gonna sacrifice another doppelgänger just because you can't handle your own bullshit?!"
"Control your young one, Abigail," Esther. "It is too late, we cannot stop,"
"Mother, they're here," Finn said as sure enough, the Mikaelson siblings stepped out of the clearing.
Klaus, Kol, and Rebekah approached as Esther, standing in the middle of a salt circle pentagram, flared her magic, causing the salt to light up in flames, forming a protective layer around Esther and Finn. Bonnie ran towards the circle, only to blink and find she was inside the basement of the old witch's house. She turned around and Abby was with her as well. That shady old bitch and her tricks. First, she was channeling Bonnie's entire ancestral line and now she was using her magic against her! Not tonight! Elena didn't deserve this.
"Abby, we have to stop her!" Bonnie cried exasperatedly. "She's my best friend!"
"Bonnie, you need to let it go! She can't stop, the Originals have to be taken out. They've killed more innocent people than you can count. I know Elena's innocent but she's caught in the crossfire. We need to stay out of it, you need to stay out of it!" Abby cried, imploring her daughter to listen to reason.
"No! I won't let them take her!" Bonnie ran up the steps.
"Bonnie, don't go out there! Bonnie!" Abby called.
Bonnie was almost to the front door when she was suddenly thrust into the wall. Flipping around, she looked into the cold blue eyes of Damon Salvatore.
"Time's up, witch," he said with a glare as he rushed at Bonnie.
~ Outside the witch's house~
Esther was in the middle of a sanctimonious and frankly absolutely boring speech about how none of her children save for Finn knew any sort of virtue when Kol felt a strange shift. His blood in Bonnie's system had suddenly ceased its flow. Alarmed burned in the crux of his being and he snapped his head to the right, in the direction of the witch house. At the same time, the flames that lit up the protective layer became extinguished.
"Sisters, do not abandon me!" Esther yelled. At once, the Originals rushed to her, past the salt barrier but Esther and Finn vanished in a poof of smoke.
"Cowards!" Rebekah spat, in a huff.
"We stopped her," Damon Salvatore came outside, carrying Bonnie Bennett in his arms. "Let Elena go!" he yelled.
Rebekah's eyes bulged at the sight of the dead teen witch. "You really killed her? Right when Elena finally chose you. Why, you're madder than -"
Kol zipped over and pulled Bonnie from Damon's arms.
"Have Elijah release the doppelganger," Klaus addressed Rebekah as he watched his baby brother cradle Bonnie. The woman called Abby Kol had witnessed outside of Bonnie's home earlier came out of the witch's house, screaming as soon as she caught the sight of Bonnie in Kol's arms.
"Who did this?!" she demanded as she ran towards her, kneeling before Kol who crouched down to the ground. This woman was likely her mother, he guessed.
"Calm down. I had to save Elena, Bonnie'll be fine. She's-"
Abby's eyes turned black and she thrust a hand out, squeezing her fist, which strangled the Salvatore vampire in a mystical chokehold. "YOU DID THIS!" her voice came out deep and warped as she strengthened her spell. Kol was mighty impressed with this demon lady standing up so fiercely for Bonnie.
Rebekah sighed. "I can smell the vampire blood in her, she's in transition, she'll survive. I'm bored. Well, I'm off to feed," she donned a cheeky smile before she sped off.
"Kill him!" Kol goaded as blood tears leaked from Damon's eyes.
"Stop this," Klaus demanded. "We'll have a Ripper on our hands to deal with if he dies, I'd much prefer him as an ally. You haven't seen the Ripper as I have,"
"Try and stop me hybrid, I'll finish your mother's mission," the demon lady warbled softly as Damon lost consciousness.
Klaus sighed dramatically and zipped over to Abby. Before she could see what he was doing, he pinched on a pressure point in her shoulders. She keeled over in slumber.
"You gave her your blood, didn't you?" He asked Kol.
"It's done, Nik. She's my vampire now," Kol replied with the rudest air of defiance.
"You're in over your head, brother if you think you can handle one as strong as she,"
"Jealousy is a hideous trait, brother," Kol lifted Bonnie in his arm as he stood while Klaus lifted Abby. "Though it quite suits you,"
~ The Mikaelson Mansion~
For whatever nonsensical reason, Klaus would not let Kol have Bonnie slumber through her transition in his sleeping chambers. He'd set her up in a guest suite with Abby rooming with her as well. Abby who of course, woke first an hour and a half after they escorted the Bennetts back to the mansion. She spent most of her time arguing with Klaus about going to her own home and keeping her daughter away from vampires. Klaus, in return, argued that Abby needed to shut her gob and make her daughter a daylight ring lest she meets the sun and eternal flames at sunrise.
Kol eventually kicked them out of the room, for some semblance and peace. He never left Bonnie's side during the night. It was around 4am when Bonnie gasped back to life and sat up.
"Bonnie," Kol grabbed her hand. She looked terrified and confused, pulling away from Kol, lifting her knees to her chest, and wrapping her arms protectively around them. Bonnie huffed and glared at Kol with feral fright in her eyes. Her emotions were heightened, the biggest being fear and she required blood.
"Wait here, darling," Kol zipped out of the room, grabbing one of the housekeepers, and flashed back into the room with her. Before the woman could speak a word, Kol slit her throat open and presented her gushing wound to Bonnie.
"You must feed, love,"
Still in her uncultivated, animal-like state of alarm, Bonnie's glance flitted from Kol to the bleeding woman. Kol watched with a smile as the little witch's chest began heaving when the bloodlust took hold over her inhibitions. Like a lion stalking its prey, Bonnie crept closer slowly and then instantly clamped onto the woman's neck, for a sanguine refreshment. Kol's fangs shot through their barrier and he affixed them on the other side of the ill-fated maid's throat. Together, he and Bonnie drained and dropped the poor bitch to the floor. As Bonnie's newly acquired fangs pierced her gums, and the black veins that indicated her transition was complete swam across her face, Kol gaped in awe at his beautiful monster.
AN: Forgive me for typos or errors, I've been holding onto this for months I was very excited I had a chapter completed so wanted to get it out ASAP!
As always, I'll read it back and cringe deep in my soul if I come across any errors as I subtlety correct them and pretend they never happened.
Please let me know if you'd like me to continue and help me decide who should be endgame :)
Also decided to try and space it out in case if it helps for better readability. If not, let me know and I will update the format.
