Chapter 6: Desperation
Maxim curses internally as a familiar electrifying feeling fills his body as he is blasted downwards creating a crater where the bunny caster was. He flinches as he tugs out a crystal spear while he bites down on an Ambroise. The juice dripped onto his tongue, the taste was hard to describe… it tasted like sheer bliss. The pain in his shoulder disappears allowing him to launch forward with the [Rocket Spear] in hand.
THESE FUCKING BUNNIES!
He slashes with the two spears using their ends somewhat like a sword. He hits both bunnies at the same time, the black outfitted bunny tries to cast a spell. He pushes the end of his [Rocket Spear] into her chest sending her flying into the nearest wall. Reeling back his hand he throws the crystal spear at the head of the bunny whose body now outlined the wall.
"[Shard Buck Shot]"
Several shards form around the petite bunny launch at him, he deflects them all by whirling his spear around. Coming next is a fist, he almost misses, grazing against her bare skin. The suit must have been damaged during the fight. She somersaults over his extended arm casting a spell.
"[Acid Splash]!"
God damn it, this fucking Magic Caster and her Acid! I refuse to lose to a fucking Magic Caster. They all think they are high and mighty with their spells… just like my fucking father!
He backs away dodging another [Acid Splash] as he launches the last [Fireball] stored in his spear. The caster runs through the smoke of the [Fireball], her outfit now in tatters.
"[Martial Art: Evasion]" He dodges the petite caster who fires another [Crystal Dagger]. He furthermore uses [Martial Art: Shukuchi kai] and [Martial Art: Slashing Strike].
"[Translocation Damage] [Reverse Gravity]!"
She is barely able to cast as a large cut is embedded across her chest. The [Martial Art: Shukuchi Kai] moved him behind her allowing him to thrust the spear forward. She just manages to cast [Reverse Gravity] on the approaching [Rocket Spear] which lifts into the air in a comedic manner.
Oh!
"[Magic Pulse] [Region Petrification]!"
Twisting her body, she is once again pushed back. He looks up to see the Black Bunny with a [Thunder Lance] simmering in her hand. An electric lance pierces his armor jolting his entire body. Before the [Region Petrification] could wear off in an attempt to freeze his lower body in place, the Black Bunny launches two [Fireball] spells at his face.
As he doubles back the petite one cast [Crystal Dagger], he pulls out a two-sided spear off of his back throwing several Ambroise's in his mouth hoping to regain as much stamina as possible.
"[Martial Art: Whirlwind]"
Spinning the spear around him, he causes the winds around him to swirl cutting through the crystal daggers.
Casters aren't the only ones with elemental abilities.
Maxim had personally created his own unique Martial Arts to take down Magic Casters.
He originally was hoping to be able to take down his father that… man had abandoned him since he wasn't magically inclined. His father comes from a long line of Magic Casters that go far back in Theocracy. Nowhere near as important as many lineages, not even close to the Godkins, but they are respected for their magical prowess, which he has seen… and is quite terrifying.
Compared to his father's might these spells are nothing. He has battled against his father; their last spar left him bedridden for months. He spent the last several years traveling in hopes of gaining strength, instead, he found something different, yet not too dissimilar.
The love he found from a woman in a far-off village has blossomed to give him something else to protect. He has a son and he wants to be there for him. He only took this job to be able to retire and raise his son. Away from the gods, no one expecting anything from him. Him just being the best father he can be. So, because of that…
I won't lose!
Nabe dodges the Beetle who has now started to attack them more furiously… its eyes are filled with determination. She is surprised by the sudden air elemental effect around him. Her body is being pelted by the winds when this Beetle dares to attack her.
"[Martial Art: Air Force]"
It starts spinning the spear, then thrusting the spear towards her causing a force of air to push her backwards. Evil Eye attempts to chant [Crystal Dagger] but just by waving his spear he cut the crystal with ease. The sudden air force thwarted their attacks like a shield, it followed him attacking them as it got close.
How is he doing this?
She had cast [Mana Essence] and determined that he has zero mana.
So, how exactly was he doing this? She knows frighteningly little about martial arts, it is not something she fully understands. She chides herself for her inability to not understand something her Lord understands completely. She cast several more spells; all were deflected by the gusts.
"[Martial Art: Shukuchi din]!" The air around him quickens into a hurricane, he disappears and suddenly cuts start to litter her body as she is slammed into the wall.
She felt the wind being pulled out of her lungs after being slammed into the wall. Cuts cover her body, scratching up her outfit leaving not much of the outfit remaining. Not like there was much there in the first place…
She looks up. Her head hurts as she gazes shakily at the visible wind moving around the man. Her entire body hurt, she had not been knocked out, unlike Nabe. Once again [Translocation damage] saves the day! She struggles to get up to cast [Fly].
"[Sand Field One]!"
Sand particles swarmed the man who seemingly ripped through it with a single whirl. His amber eyes set on her emanating a fierce killing intent.
"[Focus Battle Aura] Time to finish this! [Martial Art: Shukuchi din]!"
Her eyes widen as he seamlessly appears in front of her.
I don't have enough time to cast a spell!
As she closes her eyes preparing for the worst, she hears a clank. As she opens her eyes her heart jumps because a large black bladed protective figure defends her.
Momon!
Momon pushed backwards and slashed outward pushing back the white warrior.
"Evil Eye and Nabe I am sorry I took so long. But you can rest now, I will take care of this."
