Harry quickly made his way downstairs to the kitchen. There was still not a hide or hare from Kreacher.
Harry pondered to himself if the house elf was hiding from him. Surely the elf had to have known he was in the house?
Unless he had sauntered back to the Malfoy's or someone from the order had finally dealt with him. He was severely hoping it was the latter of the two.
Harry arrived at the kitchen and glanced it over again and when he was satisfied that he couldn't see Kreacher he walked over to the fireplace.
It pained him to know that only a few weeks ago he had stuck his head through this very fireplace and had let his emotions run rabid to not realise that Kreacher was lying to him and had set him up.
It had pained him to remember that he had stuck his head through the fireplace instead of getting the damned mirror.
Harry took sharp inhale and clenched his teeth as he brushed the negative thoughts aside. Now was not the time to get emotional when he had to ensure that there was nothing wrong with the diaries.
Harry closed his eyes and took a deep breath before reopening them.
There was still a jar of floo powder on the side counter.
Harry went to take some up and then paused.
He wanted Dumbledore but he had no idea where the man lived. Did he ever leave Hogwarts? If he tried Hogwarts, would he get anyone? He could probably send a letter, but Hedwig was back at Privet Drive and merlin knew how long that message would take to get a response.
Dumbledore had told him in his letter a few weeks ago that he had, had to postpone his trip to collect him earlier from Privet Drive. He was apparently doing some travelling that had taken up a lot of his time.
Dumbledore hadn't sent another letter to say that he was rescheduling from the 27th luckily but he didn't feel like waiting an extra three days to talk to the man in person either more or less take the diaries from Grimmauld.
He didn't believe that the diary that belonged to his mother's was like Tom Riddle's, but the similarity scared him too much to ignore it and he just needed a confirmation that it wasn't like his or Sirius's for that matter.
Harry weighed his options for a moment before he came up with a solution.
He would floo the burrow. Hopefully Mr Weasley would be around and would be able to contact Dumbledore much quicker than by letter. He took up some floo powder and threw into the fireplace making it light up a vivid emerald, green.
"The Burrow" Called Out Harry before getting to his knees and sticking his head through the fire.
Harry could now see into the kitchen of the burrow.
It was empty currently which was strange.
Mrs Weasley was a woman who loved her kitchen even when she wasn't cooking or cleaning, but she was usually just in the kitchen regardless. It was roughly anywhere between half past seven or a quarter to eight the last time Harry checked the time which had been just before he had gotten here as he had gotten up to use the bathroom before returning to weep back in his bed and he had only been here maybe five, ten minutes max.
Mrs Weasley usually did dinner around six to seven and Harry couldn't smell anything to suggest that she had just finished cooking a meal.
"Hello? Mr Weasley? Mrs Weasley? Ron? Is anyone there?" Called out Harry.
The Burrow was in complete silence which was quite unusual for the burrow. The place was usually rowdy with Mrs Weasley, yelling at the twins or them blowing something up or Mr Weasley tinkering away with some muggle contraption in pure excitement or just the general noise of five plus red heads around the place.
Yet today Harry couldn't hear a peep out of them. Were they out? He wasn't sure if they were an outing type of family. All the times he had been out with the Weasley's was to go to Kings Cross, Diagon Alley and the world cup. He didn't know if they in general went out for meals or to watch wizarding plays or something like that.
He didn't want to assume that they didn't just because of their financial status.
"Hello? Anyone there?" Yelled Harry a little louder.
Suddenly he heard noise. It sounded like it was coming from upstairs.
Harry called out once more.
A few seconds later he definitely heard footsteps coming down the spiral staircase and moments later Ginny Weasley was in the kitchen looking thoroughly surprised to see Harry's head in the fireplace.
"Harry? What are you doing in our fireplace? How are you in our fireplace in fact, I thought your muggles didn't have one? Didn't dad blow up your wall once?" Said Ginny, her tone going from shock to amusement.
Harry was glad that he was in the fireplace and not in front of her personally because he was sure his entire face would've gone as red as her hair.
Ginny was in front of him in pyjamas, but they were a little revealing. It was a cute grey vest top with matching grey shorts with a cardigan and slippers to add and while the cardigan covered her arms and shoulders, it did not cover her enhanced cleavage, her toned abs or smooth looking legs.
Harry had enough control and sense to keep his eyes level with her face that was being enveloped by her long red, wavy hair.
He had never noticed just how pretty she was before but shook his head of those thoughts entirely. This was his best friend's little sister, and he was not going to have inappropriate thoughts about her. Ever!
Luckily Ginny didn't seem to notice his qualms as she pulled up a chair to the fireplace and sat down.
"Yeah, he did but I'm not actually there right now." Replied Harry with a sheepish chuckle.
Ginny cocked an eyebrow up.
"Oh, well where are you then?" Asked Ginny curiously.
"Before I answer that, where's Mr Weasley?" Asked Harry quickly.
"Dads at work. He got a promotion. He's been working a lot so far this summer." Answered Ginny casually.
"Oh, ok well that's great. Congratulate him for me when he gets home." Said Harry earnestly.
Mr Weasley was a brilliant wizard and deserved whatever promotion he had been given. The man had made a flying car. His skills weren't to be doubted and while he would've preferred to have talked to the man, he was happy to know that he was finally being appreciated at the ministry even if it was during a time of war.
"Sure thing." Replied Ginny with a smile.
"So, where's Mrs Weasley?" Asked Harry a little hesitantly.
While he loved Mrs Weasley dearly, he didn't actually want to have to explain why he was at Grimmauld place or what he wanted Dumbledore for, to her specifically. He just knew that she would worry.
Mr Weasley would no doubt worry too, but he would probably be a little more understanding than she would.
"Mum's upstairs in bed." Answered Ginny and Harry thought that her tone had become a little uneasy.
"Mrs Weasley's already asleep?" Asked Harry a little deflated and a little relieved at the same time.
"Yep." Said Ginny and Harry was now definitely aware that there was a tone of uneasiness in her voice.
"Why? It's still earlyish." Stated Harry with a tinge of concern.
"Well, the cliff notes version is simple. Mum had a total meltdown today and exhausted herself, so now she's sleeping." Replied Ginny in a far too casual tone for Harry's liking.
"Meltdown! What happened?" Asked Harry, his heartbeat pounding a little.
"A bit of everything really. Dad working more, you know who back, updates from the order, Percy being a twat, the twins moving out, oh and Bill getting engaged." Said Ginny with little enthusiasm on the last part of her statement.
"Bills engaged?" Said Harry shocked.
He was trying to remember when it was established that he was dating anyone.
"Uh huh!" Replied Ginny with a hint of annoyance.
"And I take it you're not too happy about that then?" Said Harry doing his best to stop the smirk from forming.
"He chose the worst possible person to get engaged too." Replied Ginny heatedly.
"Who?" Asked Harry curiously.
"I call her Phlegm; you'd call her Fleur." Said Ginny with a roll of her eyes.
"Fleur as in Delacour?" Said Harry in surprise.
"The very one." Said Ginny still in an annoyed tone.
Suddenly Harry was reminded of a conversation almost a year ago with Fred and George. He now recalled that they had told him that Bill had been giving her private lessons to improve her English, but they had made it sound a bit more risqué than the two actually dating that would lead to an eventual engagement.
"When did this happen?" Said Harry still shocked.
"They've been together for a little over a year now." Replied Ginny.
"No, I realised that. I meant when did they get in engaged?" Asked Harry.
"Oh! About two weeks ago. Mum was... flabbergasted when she found out. She's been trying to make him see reason ever since." Said Ginny as she shook her head at Bill's dating choices.
"Wow! Well good for him but I thought he was in Egypt?" Said Harry trying to move the conversation on from Fleur, although he already knew that Bill had taken a desk job at Gringotts and had of course seen him on a few occasions over the last year.
"Harry, have you lost the plot? You saw him here at the order and at Christmas. St Mungo's, remember? He got a desk job here at Gringotts to help out with the order." Stated Ginny with a small smirk as she looked at him like he had grown two heads.
"Oh, right silly me. How could I forget?" Added Harry with a tap of his head. He then said, "And you mentioned Percy!"
Ginny's features suddenly darkened.
"My good for nothing git of a brother has done nothing but make my mother miserable for the last year and a piece but now that his precious ministry has been proven wrong, he's still deciding to have nothing to do with us. Mum tried to talk to him last week, but he wouldn't even open the door. Him and dad apparently had another massive row at work as well. He's too prideful to admit he was wrong and is being a complete and utter twat about it. So, mums been very depressed this summer. Add that to being scared about you know who's return, Fred and George now in their new flat in Diagon Alley especially when it got attacked the other week, carrying our special clock everywhere and being worried about me and Ron going back to Hogwarts. She just flipped the switch today. It was brutal Ron and I had to calm her down for about an hour or two before we made her some tea and brought her up to bed. It was exhausting for us. I've been in my room mostly listening for if she wakes up. I was laying bored out of my mind when I heard you calling." Said Ginny and Harry could hear the tiredness in her voice.
"Where's Ron?" Asked Harry. He was surprised he hadn't actually made an appearance yet.
"At the twin's flat. We went there to explain what happened. They were meant to come over for dinner tonight but obviously mum never got the chance to make it, so George and I just made dinner at theirs. I came back to check on mum whilst Ron stayed behind. I told him to tell the twins to pick up some stuff so that mum doesn't have another episode. He said he'd be a few hours. We haven't been anywhere at tall so far this summer. Mums kept us on a tight leash ever since... that night. Can't blame him but I wanted to make sure that she doesn't die of a heart attack If she woke up and realised both of us was missing even though she's been carrying the clock with her everywhere, but you know mum. Always assuming the worst." Said Ginny with a sigh.
Harry nodded his head in understanding.
"So, I've answered your questions. Now you answer mine. Where are you?" Said Ginny folding her arms but there was with a hint of playfulness now present in her tone.
Harry knew Ginny was always partial to some chaos and was clearly under the impression that he had snuck out of Privet Drive and was somewhere causing trouble.
Harry grimaced.
"I'm... at Grimmauld." Said Harry avoiding her gaze and rubbing the back of his neck.
Ginny's face dropped.
"Harry why are you at Grimmauld?" Asked Ginny, her tone now laced with concern that actually made him wince for some reason.
"I'm not really sure to be honest." Said Harry honestly as he still didn't understand how he had gotten there.
If he had apparated there somehow, he was quite concerned about the ministry trying to charge him possibly and if he hadn't, he was still concerned about how he'd been brought there.
"Harry!" Started Ginny.
"Ginny, I swear I don't know how I got here. It wasn't on purpose. At least not by my hand anyway." Said Harry cutting her off. She had a temper like Mrs Weasley as it was, and he didn't need the brunt of it at this current moment.
"Ok, you don't' know why you're at Grimmauld, fine. Why aren't you leaving Grimmauld? There's a reason that the order's not using the place right now, Harry. You could be in danger there. Come over right now!" Said Ginny in a fierce tone.
"No, Ginny I need Professor Dumbledore. I've found something and I need to know what it is, if only to put my mind at ease but I don't want to take it out of Grimmauld just in case it's dangerous." Said Harry quickly.
He wasn't sure if there were any spells on either of the diaries to stop him from taking them but assumedly, they had to have some type of protection or at least his mother's. She after all had implied that if it got in the wrong hands something bad could happen and the dairy had been out of Sirius's hands for thirteen years.
He just had to make sure.
"Like what?" Asked Ginny with concern.
Harry startled for a second.
It was like he had forgotten who was talking too for a moment. Whether it was her revealing PJ's or his conflicting feelings about the diaries that had made him forget that Ginny was arguably the worst person to talk to about this.
She was already worried about his safety for whatever reason which he realised that he wasn't sure why she was, but he knew she might blow her gasket if he told her about the diaries.
"Harry? What's going on? What did you find?" Questioned Ginny as she noticed his cheeks going pale.
What did he tell her? Why wasn't his mind making up an excuse quick enough?
Why did he say dangerous? Ugh!
"Harry Potter! You tell me what's going on right now!" Roared Ginny as fire flared in her eyes.
Damn it! Why hadn't he made her call for Ron?
"Ginny look, I'm fine, I doubt it's actually dangerous, but I just want to check ok. You don't have to worry about me. We can do magic at Grimmauld undetected remember? Besides I've been here for about ten, fifteen minutes and I've been completely safe. I'll leave as soon as I get this sorted. I promise. Do you know if anyone can get in contact with Dumbledore? I know he was meant to be busy for a while, but I just want to send a message and Hedwig's not here." Said Harry in a calm and neutral tone.
He wanted to put Ginny's mind at ease as much as possible.
Ginny just stared at him for several moments with a hard expression that was ever so reminiscent of her mother's.
He was about to talk again but she spoke before him.
"Alright Harry. You wait there and be careful alright. I'll be a few minutes." Said Ginny in an annoyed tone.
"Thank you, Ginny!" Said Harry gratefully.
"Uh huh." Replied Ginny as she got up from the chair and dragged it back to the kitchen table before heading for the stairs.
Harry pulled his head from the fire and got off the kitchen floor. The fire went out and he looked around the kitchen to once again check if he was alone.
He didn't see a sign of Kreacher or anyone else for that matter and wondered why Ginny was so concerned.
He would have to ask her about that.
He sat down at the table and tried not to think about how last summer he had been semi enjoying time with his godfather at this kitchen table.
Ten minutes passed before Harry heard the fire roar back to life.
He practically jumped up with excitement only to feel sudden dread as one Ginny Weasley was standing in fireplace dusting soot off herself.
She was fully clothed, thankfully.
"Ginny what are you doing here?" Asked Harry shocked.
"If you're gonna be stubborn, then I'm gonna be stubborn too. So, I'm not leaving until you tell me what's going on." Said Ginny folding her arms.
"Ginny all you needed to do was..."
"Was contact someone in the order and I still can but you're hiding something, and I'll be damned if you go and get yourself into another near-death situation Harry Potter! Not when the darkest wizard of all time is out to get you, so tell me what's going on right now!" Said Ginny firmly as she stood rooted to the spot and waited for him to answer her.
Harry just glared at the girl who was unphased and glared back.
"We can do this all-night Harry but mum's gonna wake up eventually and when she realises that I'm not in the house, she will probably lose her marbles. She'll realise quickly too as I already told you she's been carrying our special clock which tells her where we are or if we're in danger. So, if you want to put my mums blood pressure up be my guest Potter but just know that I'll be allocating all blame to you." Said Ginny now smirking at the raven-haired teen.
Harry rolled his eye and then sighed.
He was completely stubborn enough to actually sit there with Ginny until she backed down and part of him really wanted too just to annoy her, but Mrs Weasley didn't need the stress.
'Fine! I found two magical diaries that belong to my mother and Sirius but they're very similar to Tom Riddles diary as they're both enchanted and have blank pages. There you happy? I told you!" Snapped Harry.
He immediately felt guilty about it as soon as he saw Ginny's face pale considerably, but he didn't apologise as she was literally asking for it.
"You... you found diaries... that remind you of Tom Riddle's?" Said Ginny slowly as she contemplated that sentence.
Harry's guilt multiplied. The look on Ginny's face was one of utter terror.
He went to then apologise but suddenly Ginny's face contorted with pure rage and Harry had actually had to take a step back.
"HARRY POTTER ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? You were gonna stay in a house known for its dark sentient magic with not one but... TWO possibly possessed diaries in your possession! Oh, I ought to hex the living crap out of you. What's wrong with you Harry? Are you actually intent on getting yourself killed?" Roared Ginny as she had to fight her own arm to stop it from pulling out her wand which was tucked in her back pocket.
Harry took another step back from the girl as she shook with anger.
He stared at the red head intently and then sighed and put his arms up.
"Look Ginny, I'm sorry if I'm making you worried, I really am but I need to know. I don't own anything of my mothers, and I already got her, and now Sirius killed just because I exist. I went into his room and found a chest of his possessions and my mother's diary was in it. She had sent it to him to help him and made another one for him but when I opened them, the diaries were both blank just like Tom's and she left a note which said that in the wrong hands the diaries were dangerous. I don't think the diaries are possessed but I just want to make sure. Maybe it's exactly like Tom's and she managed to leave a memory of herself behind or maybe it's just a normal magical diary with a few special enchantments, but I have to know If they're dangerous or not because if they're not then those diaries and everything in that chest, we'll be the only things I have left of them. I know that sounds pathetic, but I need something Ginny. I need something that is gonna keep me going because I'm on the verge of giving up and I'm not even allowed to do that Ginny. I'm not allowed to give up. So, I need something." Said Harry as he felt the knot in chest tug like it had been doing for the past three weeks.
He wasn't going to cry however because he luckily felt burnt out at the current moment.
Ginny's features softened at Harry's confession.
She felt annoyed that she of course sympathised for him because it meant staying at Grimmauld but the boy had lost so much already that she couldn't deny him this.
It still bugged her entirely, but she would help him out.
She would always help Harry if he needed it.
Ginny sighed before stepping forward and wrapping Harry in a tight embrace which clearly startled Harry for a moment before he hugged her back.
Ginny's hug was so familiar to Mrs Weasley's and made him feel so comforted that when she pulled away, he almost felt cold at the loss of the hug.
Ginny's made a very strange face as she stepped away from Harry and looked him up and down once before her brown eyes locked onto his green ones.
Her expression became warm and uplifting.
"Harry that's not pathetic at tall and the fact that you would even think that means you're almost as big of an idiot as Ron is. I don't like this, but I'll help you." She said in a soothing tone with another warm little smile.
"Thank you." Said Harry gratefully.
"But before I call anyone, let me see the diaries." Said Ginny becoming serious again.
"Ginny..." Started Harry but she interrupted.
"Harry don't start. We had a fitting conversation last Christmas, remember and while I'm certainly no expert on possession, I think I have a good judgement and I want to see them first." Said Ginny in a gentle but firm tone.
Harry simply stared at her for several moments.
Ginny sighed.
"Harry I'm not an eleven-year-old girl anymore. Let me see them." She said impatiently whilst holding out a hand.
Harry sighed but picked up the two diaries that were behind him on the kitchen table. He didn't have the energy to fight with the fiery red head.
He passed her the two diaries and Harry watched as Ginny's eyes narrowed in suspicion as she analysed both diaries from top to bottom.
She then put his mother's diary down and opened Sirius's diary, looking at each page individually as she stroked her fingers across the pages and even smelled them to Harry's surprise.
When she was finished, she put Sirius's diary down and then did the same process with his mother's diary, as well reading over the note to Sirius.
Harry watched in silence as Ginny concentrated on his mother's diary intensely, even more so than she had with Sirius's.
When Ginny finally closed the diary, she appeared to be lost in deep thought which made Harry anxious.
"Ginny? What is it?" Asked Harry his heart beating a little rapidly.
Ginny was silent for a moment before she spoke.
"Do you want the good news or the weird news which at this current second, I don't know whether to categorise it good or bad."
"Surprise me." Said Harry with a heartless chuckle.
"Well, the good news is that I don't believe either diary is possessed. The weird news is that your mum's diary is not normal magic. I don't think it's dark but the magic in it is different to normal magic." Said Ginny in a careful and slow tone.
"What do you mean?" Asked Harry puzzled.
"Well, all magic has a signature and because we're witches and wizards, our magic has a specific type of signature compared to that of let's say a wizard/werewolf. Just for metaphoric purposes, we're strawberry jam and a werewolf is Raspberry Jam. Sirius's diary has the scent of Strawberry jam all over it. Your mum's however smells like... marmalade. It's similar but different too." Said Ginny and Harry wondered how the conversation had gone from possession to jam but he didn't ask that out aloud.
Instead, he replied with "How the bloody hell do you get that from smelling the diary?" Cried Harry.
It was Ginny's turn to grimace.
"If I tell you, do you promise, you won't think I'm mental afterwards?" Said Ginny a little uncomfortably.
"Ginny you're a Weasley. You're already mental. I don't see how it could get any worse, so you don't have to worry about me thinking it will." Said Harry with a smug grin.
Ginny narrowed her eyes at him before a small smirk formed on her lips.
She couldn't fault him on that. All Weasley's were headcases and after the last hellish year they had, had at Hogwarts and everything that had happened at the ministry, she was glad Harry was still able to crack a joke at least.
After a moment she sighed and went for it.
"Ok well after the whole chamber of secrets business, for a while my head was still really messed up and things were different about me." Said Ginny uneasily.
"What do you mean?" Asked Harry curiously.
"Ok, I wouldn't describe it as having extra powers, but after... Tom..." She paused and averted her gaze.
Ginny had never talked about the possession other than last year Christmas to make him realise that he himself hadn't been possessed by Voldemort which was ironic because he then later actually got possessed by him.
Back then she had been angry at him for being a prat but now that she was calmlt talking about it, she was much emotional about it then she had let on last Christmas.
"After Tom possessed me and you saved me, there was I guess you could say an imprint left on me. I can sense magical auras better, well with objects more than people, I can do it with certain wizards if their magical aura is really powerful like Dumbledore's but most of the time it's just objects and I guess, spells and potions too. My spell work improved significantly, well after I got over the whole situation anyway. Professor Flitwick was extremely surprised that I was suddenly near the top of class over most of the Ravenclaws in my year. My understanding of certain things became much more perceptive, and I can even understand bits of Parseltongue." Said Ginny now chancing a nervous glance at Harry.
"You can?" Said Harry surprised at this knowledge.
"Well not like you and I can't speak it properly but ever since the... possession, I was able to retain the ability to understand it and even hiss a little. Can't actually understand myself, but I can understand an actual snake. I learnt that when a snake slithered up to me and Luna back in second year. I was keeping a distance from everyone, and I happened to be near the forbidden forest one day when I came across Luna. She was going in there to tend some thestrals and I told her she can't go in there more or less go in there alone but she did regardless and so I followed her and then all of a sudden, a snake was heading her way and I hissed at it, and it slithered away. That's actually how are friendship started. Thing is she could tell back in first year something was wrong with me. She could tell afterwards that I was no longer possessed. She said she could tell that my aura had changed. She was the only one I ever felt I could talk too, and she helped me get through a lot of stuff and understand part of the changes. I didn't tell anyone else because I didn't want to worry anyone or for my parents to try and send me off to St Mungo's. You and Luna are the only people that know." Finished Ginny with another nervous glance towards Harry.
Harry stared at the girl for a moment in silence before a smile touched his lips.
He didn't think any of that made her mental and he was quite happy to know that she was at least a semi Parslemouth. He was also happy to know that even with those attributes, that the possession hadn't affected her negatively.
"Well, it feels good to have someone around who's weirder than me." He said with a genuine smile.
Ginny snorted at that.
"No one's weirder than you Potter!" Said Ginny with a smirk.
"You're probably right. So, any idea on what kind of weird magic is in the diary then?" Asked Harry relieved but somewhat disappointed that there was no memory shade of his mother.
"I can't say I do, although have you tried writing in it?" Said Ginny curiously.
"No, mum said that Sirius couldn't write in hers, so I probably can't either." Replied Harry earnestly.
"Yes, but judging from the note, it suggested that she used blood magic to make his diary." Replied Ginny.
"So?" Asked Harry confused.
Ginny rolled her eyes.
"So, the diary she made for Sirius is a replica of the diary that was given to her. She said that's she's not a Black, so he had to test the diary himself. That means that her diary probably required her blood to be used to enchant it as well. You're a part of her bloodline meaning you could probably write in it." Said Ginny excitedly whilst holding out the diary for him to take.
Harry's heart leaped at that realisation.
Harry was terrified at the prospect of writing in the diary even if Ginny said it wasn't possessed but he was also strangely excited at the idea, like he was about to discover a secret that only himself and his mother would share, well them, Ginny, Sirius and the mysterious her.
Harry hesitated for a moment before he stretched out his hand to take the diary, holding it carefully as though he were holding a Newborn babe.
He opened the diary to the first blank page and then set it down on the kitchen table.
He looked around for a moment.
"I need a quill." Said Harry.
Ginny looked around as well to see no available quills before uttering the words "Hold on." She then rushed to the fireplace, returning back to the burrow. She returned after a few minutes with a few quills and an inkpot in her hand as well a small pouch bag and came up to Harry's side, laying the items on the table.
Harry wanted to ask about the bag but the curiosity of finding out about the diary overtook him and he eagerly picked up a quill and dipped it in the ink before sitting down and hovering the quill over the blank page.
Ginny stood right over him, with one hand clutched on the bag and the other on his shoulder to offer some comfort.
It helped him greatly with his nerves.
Harry took a deep breath before he pushed the quill down onto the page making a little ink dot.
Himself and Ginny took a bated breath each as they leaned forward watching the little ink dot on the page.
It remained still for ten seconds and then like Tom Riddle's diary, the ink dot vanished into the page with a hint of a golden glow.
Harry felt Ginny's grip on his shoulder tighten.
Harry felt his heart leap again but he believed Ginny's hypothesis and so he took another calming breath albeit much shakier.
Harry put the quill down to the page again and like he had four years ago wrote down the words...
'Hello. My name is Harry Potter.'
After another ten seconds the words dissolved into the page again with the same golden glow around them.
Harry and Ginny then waited, their eyes never leaving the page.
Two seconds became five, five seconds became ten and ten seconds continued to tick and tick until a full minute had passed.
Nothing happened.
The diary didn't respond.
Harry deflated whilst Ginny's grip loosened.
Perhaps the diary was just enchanted to keep Lily's Potters secrets with strange magic.
Harry looked up at Ginny.
"Looks like I was overreacting. I guess the diary's just..."
"Harry look!" Spurted Ginny as her eyes widened.
Harry looked back down to the diary and noticed words were appearing on the page with a golden glow around them before they settled as black ink.
'Ha- Harry Potter? You're... you're Lily's son!'
It was a statement rather than a question.
Harry and Ginny looked at one another before Harry wrote...
'Yes. I'm Lily and James Potter's only son. Who are you?'
They waited. The diary was unresponsive for a moment before it finally replied.
'How did you get this diary?'
Harry was startled at the question for a moment.
'Answer my question and I'll answer yours.'
The diary didn't respond for a while before it said...
'Goodbye Harry Potter. Do not write to me again, for both our sakes.'
Harry's stomach dropped.
'No, wait! This diary was entrusted to Sirius Black by Lily Potter sometime before she died.'
Harry began to breath hard as he waited for a response.
Almost immediately the diary responded.
'Lily's de... she's dead?'
'Yes. She's been dead for almost fifteen years.'
There was a long pause before a large ink blob appeared on the page and then a response...
"And she gave her diary to Sirius?'
'Yes.'
'Where is Sirius?'
'Dead!'
There was no response for a several minutes and just as Harry was about to pen another response, suddenly the golden glow that had been accompanying the words on diary page grew intensely bright and enveloped the entire diary.
Both Harry and Ginny backed up, Harry shielding Ginny from the light. Both of them instinctually retrieved their wands as both had seen this in two different ways before and realised what was happening.
Someone was coming!
