AN: Hey guys I am back with a second chapter. Lets right into it
Inside a basic office stood a Burnette woman that wore a red dress with gold engravings and black heels. Her gold eyes stared at the door ahead of her; her name was Cinder Fall, and she was slightly concerned. She knew what she did could provoke the brothers into action, one of the brothers could very well the moment they came through that door attack her. However, more than likely the brother that would walk through that door would be Nano. Someone who, when it came down to it, she could deal with. In fact, she was fairly confident that, individually, none of the brothers, except maybe Virus, were a threat to her in her current state. Although, Cinder was no fool, there was a reason why the brothers were still around and not dead or locked up. They were dangerous, their body count and long lives, especially for Vice-Versas, confirmed that. Her thoughts were interrupted when the door opened and just like she predicted the brother Nano walked in.
"A Maiden?" And like that, any would be pleasantries were thrown out the window.
Immediately Cinder was on guard, and flared her aura, "How do you know such information?" Cinder demanded, barely keeping a steady tone.
Nano for his part, remained calm, and deconstructed his neck wrap that covered the lower half of his face; in fact, Nano did not even raise is aura.
"It was by mistake really," Nano gestured for Cinder to introduce herself.
"Cinder Fall," Cinder obliged.
"Well Cinder," Began Nano as he walked around Cinder as he talked, "As you know Vice-Versas can sense dust and aura energy but either can't or struggle to differentiate between the different types of energy. However, because my brother's and mine semblances being energy manipulation we are akin to the bloodhounds of the Vice-Versas. We can actually differentiate between energy and most importantly: Auras. Thus, one day we come this young woman who is seemingly on the run with this type of Aura we have never seen before, it was like there was something in or attached to it! Curious, Virus had her captured to investigate what was so different about her. After some convincing, she revealed that she what was called the spring maiden, just like that fairy tale," Nano gave Cinder a look that screamed 'as you would know' before he continued, "She said that she was on the run from the famous Ozpin, though she wouldn't reveal why, and that we needed to let her go as people were gonna show up looking for her. After she further revealed that her powers can only be inherited by other young woman and then someone actually turned up looking for her, Virus decided that he did not want us getting involved in something that we knew next to nothing about and set her free before we escaped."
Cinder decided the explanation was good enough to not kill Nano immediately and lowered her Aura, although she did not completely relax.
"That did not explain how you knew I was a Maiden,"
"That's easy, while somewhat different your aura is, overall, extremely similar to that of the Spring Maiden," that what Cinder expected, but she just needed to make sure. Cinder did not know how to feel about the brothers knowing such sensitive information. Even with the sensitive information they knew, because of their power and connections in the under ground while she could kill them, it would not be worth the effort. Especially, if Cinder could get them on her side.
"That is quite the power," Cinder remarked.
"Yes...it has helped a lot through out the years," Nano answered standing in front of Cinder, "However, I believe we have gotten way off track of the original intention of you having me here,"
"Yes, we have," Cinder acknowledged," I requested you here to propose an alliance,"
"Alliance?"
"Yes, I know what you have done to criminals in other kingdoms, not just Vale,"
Nano shrugged, "You say that like we weren't provoked in most scenarios,"
Cinder gave Nano a look, "Regardless, I want to make intentions clear with you before any misfire or miscommunication ruins the possibility of us working together."
There was silence, the tension in the room did not rise, but the atmosphere was still thick.
"Your proposal is compelling, however; if you want an alliance you will have to speak to Virus as he is the one in charge," Cinder idly wondered how exactly Virus instilled such loyalty before speaking,
"That is more than acceptable,"
Nano held up his hand, "I wasn't finished, since it is you who wants an alliance, you will need to meet Virus at a location of our choosing," Nano paused to let it sink in before continuing, "You can, of course, bring protection in the form of lackeys and/or bodyguards if you so desire,"
That was less acceptable, it was not unreasonable and she knew it but, it was still a big risk in case it turned out it was trap to kill her.
"Where is this location and how do I know it is not a trap?"
Nano paused, he did not know a location right now; they have not been in Vale in a while and he did not know which locations were still safe from prying eyes. On top of that the authorities were looking for them, which further narrowed down his options, then it clicked.
"We shall meet at Mount Glenn," Before Cinder could protest Nano continued, "We shall reconvene here tomorrow where we will provide the transportation, As for it is a trap there will only be Azrael and Virus, Cyan needs to watch our base while I will need to start hunting down comprised contacts," suddenly Nano's voice turned to teasing tone, "A young smart maiden~ such as yourself should be, at the very least, be able to drive them off if worse comes to worst...no?" Nano inquired as he got suggestively close.
Cinder held back a scoff, even though there would be only two of them, one the of them would be the eldest and most powerful brother. She really could not even trust there would be two of them, Nano was not called 'The Deceiver' for nothing. She did, however; already have the White Fang scouting the area so they could be on stand by and she could send some bullheads overnight to strategic points. If she also brought Neo and Emerald along with some grunts to stall the brothers, she could escape almost any ambush the brothers could set up. There was the fact that the possibility that this was a trap was low, the brothers were undoubtedly trying to lie low and did not want the authorities getting confirmation that they were here. Since Cinder knew they were here that presented a problem for them, however; since she was willing to enter a deal with them it presented a quick, easy, and nonviolent solution to their problem. The brothers also probably thought she had fail-safes to expose them if something were to happen to her, which she did, and would not risk killing her, at the very least for the moment.
"Very well I accept your terms," Cinder said finally.
"Good to hear," Nano backed away and approached the door , "We'll stay in touch," he reconstructed his neck wrap concealing his face once more and exited the room, leaving Cinder alone with her thoughts.
As Nano walked out he saw some of Junior's grunts relaxing and some talking to each other. The topic of most these conservations was of course Nano himself. Nano listened half-heartedly to conservations,
"I had chills the whole time,"
"That entrance was pretty badass,"
"He looked just like her,"
"He even got the sway of her hips right,"
That last one almost made him smirk, but then everyone noticed that Nano had returned, which caused them to quiet downed and stare. Roman was setting down on a nearby box next to the brother's Dust and ammunition. When he saw that Nano was back he stood up and gave him a curt nod. Nano returned the nod before he focused on the boxes; there was a loud buzzing sound as Nano deconstructed into a swarm once more. The swarm flew towards the boxes of ammunition and Dust; there was a popping sound as the tops of the boxes were taken off. Then, some of the swarm dove into the boxes for a few moments. After they reemerged the buzzing sound intensified before the swarm shot towards the warehouse's main entrance, disappearing as the they exited, leaving no trace and the boxes completely empty.
Virus was curious, last night Nano had come to him with something interesting, there was this woman who knew they were here in Vale and wanted to strike a deal with him. Nano had said that her offer was legitimate so willing to hear her out. Then Nano said something really interesting: this woman was a Maiden; that had really peaked his interest. Thus when morning rose, Azrael and him entered the warehouse Nano visited yesterday. Thanks to Nano they were able to disguise themselves as normal people until they got into the warehouse. Then they bode farewell to Nano when he left to track down their contacts here in Vale.
Both brothers were in their respective combat gear and also brought their respective weapons. Virus wielded Heaven's Reach; a spear with a golden shaft and sliver blade, where the blade met the shaft a pair of golden wings stretched out, there was also a diving phoenix that was engraved on the top and bottom of the blade. Azrael wielded a collapsible scythe, it too used a sliver blade but had a black shaft, its most obvious defining feature was the weapon's named engraved in cursive on both sides of the blade: Ad Mundi Fine.*
Virus studied the warehouse to see if the Maiden's group was present. He detected multiple Auras, one of which was no doubt a Maiden. However, the Maiden's Aura was peculiar; it was not as strong as the Spring Maiden's in the sense that as if it was incomplete. Nano had commented on this yesterday yet, it still was fascinating to witness in person. Walking further into the warehouse, they revealed themselves to the young Maiden's group. Immediately, Virus observed how Cinder's grunts all had white vests and masks that covered the upper portion of their faces with a black hoods.
"White...Fang," Virus thought, "This just keeps getting more and more interesting," Azrael also seemed the notice this but gave no outward reaction.
It seems that Cinder's side finally noticed Virus and Azrael as they all turned to them, some even became noticeably on edge. Virus noticed that there were three humans along with Cinder, one of which was Neo, however; he did not recognize the other two, both were quite young. One of was a female with dark skin, red eyes, and green hair; the other was male with grey eyes and hair. The female's attire consisted of an intricate white top and an olive-colored crop top, and what seem to be accompanied by white shorts, decorated with what appears to be a gold coin-plated belt with four gold chains draping around her back from two of the coins and what seems to be a green loincloth. The male wore a slate gray and black two-tone partial-zip jacket that covers his upper body. He also wore a single notched belt with what appears to be a sash or bandana draped over it. Protecting his arms are a set of rebraces and vambraces. These two seemed the most uncomfortable, which was understandable given that these were seemingly academy aged kids surrounded by terrorists, criminals, and murders. Although, to their credit they did a really good job of hiding it.
Virus decided to break the silence,
"If we are all here, I suggest we get this started," Virus declared, his voice slightly electronic because of his helmet. Virus wanted to get this over with as soon as possible, even though this Cinder interested him greatly. Unfortunately, Cyan, Azrael, and him should already be in hibernation. The fight in Atlas had really drain them, they were fortunate that since Nano was on a hunt and so not only had a lot of energy but, also had only arrived near the end of the battle; which caused him to not be nearly as drained as Azrael and Cyan. However, that would not last forever, while they were not on borrowed time yet, for Virus they were still too close for comfort.
Cinder nodded, Virus glanced at Azrael and nodded as well. There was a great humming and crackling noise as Azrael flared aura and semblance, Azrael raised Ad Mundi Fine and then slammed the base of shaft on the ground. What looked like bolts of electricity shot out at the base of the weapon and ripped across the ground until it reached a few feet in front of Azrael. Then there was an even greater crackling sound as the 'bolts' shot into the air to form a circular portal. Virus gestured to the portal before going in. There was only a moment's hesitation before Cinder and her group followed, with Azrael being the last one to entered the portal which then promptly nearly silently collapsed in on itself, leaving no trace of it behind.
Virus smiled as Cinder's group react Azrael's portal. Virus delighted in their amazement and horror as they bore witness to the tunnel that had no defined shape, no one set colored shifting, buckling, to waves and rhythms unseen. He watched as they flinched at the hisses and whispers that dripped lies and truth they could not comprehend in their ears. As quick it began, it was over and they were left in a all consuming darkness, the only salvation being the lights from Virus's armor and the flame from his wings.
"Keep moving," was all Virus said as he kept walking.
Before anyone could speak there was another crackling sound as bolts of energy raced across the floor beneath them to form yet another portal in front of Virus, which he promptly he stepped into. The hesitation was longer this time, but it was only a few moments before Cinder and her group once again stepped into the portal. It was a different yet the same experience that they struggled to understand. This time when it ended they were left in a crossroad in the middle of derelict city that was no doubt Mount Glenn.
"What was that?" Cinder asked no doubt about their 'transportation' here.
"Azrael's teleportation," Virus answered with a tone that clearly indicated that was all they were gonna get from him.
"Bullshit," retorted the one with grey hair.
"Silence Mercury," Cinder ordered. Virus examined 'Mercury' more closely, he screamed 'overconfident disposable pawn'. Virus held back a sigh of disappointment, the kid probably did not even know how disposable he really was. Virus also took this time to examine his brother, While he gave no physical sign, Azrael no doubt was feeling drained. His Aura was weak and his soul lethargic. Virus sent a pulse, the time delay and weak strength of the return pulse from Azrael's souls confirmed it. In order to conserve energy Azrael had slowed down his metabolism to the point that if this meeting turned into a fight it would take a few moments to ramped it back up. Virus would need to make sure this did not turn into a fight.
"I think it is time for us to commence business," Virus suggested before tensions got too high.
Cinder agreed and started to introduce her group. Virus could not have care less what their names were and instead noted any outstanding about their physical appearance or demeanor. after Cinder's introductions were done Virus, in order to appear less threatening, drove the blade of his spear into the ground. He then took off his helmet and set it rest on the shaft of Heaven's Reach. Revealing his pale face and fierce gold eyes.
"I believe my brother and I need no introduction," Virus declared, "Now what kind proposal do you have for us exactly?"
"Well it is fairly simple really, I need the dust and ammunition Roman is stealing," Cinder began, "However I know that you as well need them as well so I say we work towards a mutual goal. You help with some of the heists and get slice of the captured goods and the profit. "
Virus thought for a moment, "That sounds reasonable we agree on one condition," Virus paused to get a nod from Cinder before continuing," we get to pick and choose which heists to take part in,"
"That is fine, as along you do not interfere with the ones you do not take part of," Cinder obliged.
"Of course," Virus answered.
"One last thing," Cinder paused in a way that made Virus think he was not going to like what came next, "I will need you to layoff your hunting of Grimm,"
Virus's eyes widened ever so slightly and he raised an eyebrow, "Oh and why is that?"
"I want to show that people that Huntsmen and Huntress have so much power yet can barely protect their people. I want to show that those in power do not care for them and that they are not as safe as they thought. To achieve this I want to cause a small Grimm breach, nothing big, no civilian casualties, Grimm that can easily be dealt with."
Virus had to fight not roll his eyes, he heard that kind of speech hundreds of times.
"Did this girl honestly believe we would fall for that?"
"Does she think we are fools?"
"this wretched thinks she is superior,"
"She needs a reminder,"
"On who really is in incharge..."
Cinder had to hand it to Virus, he had a very handsome face; it was a shame he covered it with a helmet so often. After she explained what she was planned to do with the Grimm she expected rage or immediate disinterest in making a deal with her, anything really. What she did not expect was almost no outward reaction as Virus appeared to internally debate. She even did not get a big outward reaction from Azrael other than a twitch when she first mentioned Grimm. Admittedly his face was obscured by the lighting and that hood of his, so she had no idea what his facial expression was. Virus then hummed which brought Cinder out of her thoughts.
"Alright, I agree with your terms, however; we reserve the right to kill alpha and elder Grimm," Virus said with a nonnegotiable tone, "After all, if all you wanted was to create a small breach you would have no need for them, yes?"
During the last sentence Virus instead of glowing a brighter gold, glowed white. Eyes that, in one moment, promised money, power and to satisfy every desire she could possibly think of. The next moment, however; they promised pain, suffering, anger and agony of every type. She was so transfixed by those eyes that she did not notice that Virus's wings' flame also turned white until they, along with his eyes, turned back to their original color.
"Yes, you can eliminate such Grimm," Cinder replied when she snapped out of her daze. Cinder glanced around to see the rest of her group had also been affected. Some seemed on the verge of breaking down while others seemed to have a similar reaction to Cinder herself.
"Excellent," Virus stated as he put back on his helmet and picked up Heaven's Reach, " and with that I think we are done here, "Virus then turned to Azrael with the intention to leave.
"You are just going to leave us here?" asked Cinder.
"Do not play coy with me, you have the White Fang all around here to bring you home," Virus answered, but before Cinder could say anything he continued, "Do not act surprised, I have noticed them for a while now, I suggest you tell them to work on their stealth as they are quite terrible at it," Cinder could not help but smirk at that, she had also noticed them in the background. He was right as the stealth tactics she saw today were horrendous. Especially for a group that frequently attacked the likes of the Schnee Dust Company.
Azrael once more slammed the bottom of Ad Mundi Fine onto the floor and created a portal. "Besides I do not think your group here is very willing to go through Azrael's portals again," Virus commented and did not let Cinder get off a rebuke before his brother and him entered the portal which promptly closed and left Cinder once more to her thoughts.
"You certainty are interesting one, Virus."
Junior was not having a good time. The other day, Roman came in and took some of his men then some blonde bitch destroyed his club and injured the rest of his crew, all in the same fucking day. So Junior, along with his men that weren't sent to the hospital, had focused on repairing and/or rebuilding his club. Right now Junior was on break and since they had fixed the bar, he had been serving drinks to his men that also had been on break. He had just served one of his men whiskey, when said man spoke up,
"Your men are rather pathetic Junior," Junior did a double take.
"Excuse me?" Junior said as his temper quickly rose.
"All I did was make an entrance and imitate Neo, With a fake voice mind you, and they were just about shit their pants," The man leaned forward and tipped down his glasses for a moment. This exposed his eyes briefly which flashed a deep blood red before returning to a dark brown, "I mean if that is all it takes to scare them shitless you need to seriously reconsider the type of men you hire,"
Junior just could not catch a break, "What are you doing here Nano?" Junior sighed.
"Oh you know, we haven't been in Vale for a while so I just checking to make sure none of our contacts have been comprised and eliminate the one that are," Nano answered causally as he took a sip of his drink.
"You believe I might be compromised?"
Nano laughed, "Hell no, If you turned into a rat, with how much dirt you have on everyone? The entire Valean criminal underground would be fucked," Junior also laughed, "No, while a small reason I am here is to put my mind at ease, the biggest reason why I am here is to see if you could help make my life easier," explained Nano as he passed Junior a slip of paper that had names on it.
"So you want me to tell you which of these people are rats? And what do I get out off this?" questioned Junior as he examined the list.
"Besides the satisfaction of snuffing out traitorous rats? I am willing to pay Lien for it," Nano bargained showing some lien sliding it over to Junior
Junior inspect the money for few moments before speaking, "Deal," Junior pointed at a name 'Akai Yūhi',** "Akai has turned rat for a while now; he has entered witness protection so I have no idea where he is,"
"That is all you are going to give me? Even with all that lien I gave you? what a great bargain," Nano said sarcastically.
Junior rolled his eyes before he grabbed a pen and circle several more names, "No, but I want you to focus on Akai, while not as much as me, he still has some serious dirt on some big people here in Vale both criminal and other. He has already been creating serious havoc exposing several politicians and king pins. Out of everyone on this list he is the biggest threat."
"Than-"
"Sir," Nano was interrupted as one Junior's mean came up to them, "The guys with Aura think there is a gas leak as their Aura lower than it should be," Nano chuckled darkly at that.
Junior nodded, "I will take care of it, tell the rest of the men they are on break until I do," The man nodded and walked away. Junior glared at Nano, "I would appreciate it if you didn't drain my men. Despite the progress we've made this place is still dangerous, I gonna be upset if one my men are seriously injured or worse because their Aura was drained by a 'gas leak' when something falls on them."
"You mean the ones that actually have Aura?" Junior maintained his glare at Nano, "Fine, it is time for me to leave anyway, my brothers should be returning form their little deal with Roman's boss about now anyhow,"
"That reminds me," Junior said before he developed a smirk, "Did you honestly think I would give that bastard Roman my best men?"
Nano chuckled and shook his head, "You absolute bastard," Junior smirked as Nano finished his drink and he stood up to leave, "Never change," Nano said before he walked out.
It was late at night as man sat his desk as he filled out some papers in an enclosed room at his apartment. The apartment and the office was rather barren except some furniture and a few suitcases filled with personal belongings that were strewn about. The man had light, loosely combed back hair with a few strands out of place. He wore a light purple Valentino suit and a dark tie patterned by a column of skull emblems. The man's name was Akai Yūhi and he was gonna be moved out of The City of Vale. After one too many close calls it was decided The City of Vale was too dangerous to stay in. This would be his last night here as the authorities would be here early morning tomorrow to pick him up. In all honestly he was not going to miss this place, it was rotten place with corruption everywhere.
Akai was brought out of his thoughts by the sound of screeching tires and shouting outside his small window beside his desk. Having decided he give into his paranoia, he peaked from behind the blinders to have his worst fears confirmed. Outside Akai saw gunmen as they came out in multiple vehicles rand began to storm his apartment complex. Akai resisted the urge to give into panic as he stood and rushed to living room. He took deep breaths as he formulated a plan on how we was going to get out of situation alive. He calmly brought out his M18, flipped his dinning table towards the door, took cover behind it, and waited as the wind howled.
Suddenly, Akai dove to his side as gunshots came from the dark corners of his apartment. He waisted no time as he got back up and started doge as much as the bullets as he could, they were coming from every corner he was not looking at and a few got him but were thankfully stopped by Aura. He was then attacked by a swarm of insects that targeted his face. he fired his pistol everywhere he thought he could shoot, but the gunfire and swarm did let up; finally in desperation, Akai took a swing at what he thought was the main body of the swarm. Only to reveal that he had somehow punched one of his apartment's walls, leaving a sizable dent. The wall faintly glowed a red color before Akai abruptly made a mad dash to his door to leave his apartment. Just as he was about to reach it the door burst open as the gunman form earlier stormed in. Out of options and with one last trick up his sleeve, before the gunman could react Akai shaped his hand to mimic that of a denotator and brought his thumb down.
There as resounding click as the wall Akai punched before suddenly exploded and threw everyone around and even killed some of the gunmen. However Akai's feet had barely left the ground when a secondary explosion happened in front of him. Because of the use of his semblance and the adsorption of the subsequent explosion, the second explosion obliterated what little Aura Akai had left. Leaving him completely vulnerable to the resulting shrapnel that ripped threw him as he bounced off a wall and was thrown out of his big living room window and to a car below which left him gravely injured. Thankfully, he lived on the second story so the fall did not kill him.
Akai groaned in pain as he rolled off the car and onto the ground. He used the car to help him get up, however; the pain from the massive splinters in his left arm and leg did not help in the least bit. After he got back up on his feet he limped as fast as he could away from his apartment. He actually had gotten pretty far and take shelter in a dark alleyway before a voice called out,
"You know it was so easy, once I found were you were, to anonymously inform any one of the local gangs that you pissed off by turning into rat where you where at," a swam much bigger than what attacked him in his apartment flew out of the shadows before it swirled around it self and formed Nano. Akai in a panic tried to back away but, because of his injuries tripped and fell right onto his back, "And how they would be the perfect distraction. You would be so busy planning on to deal with them, that you would never see my attack coming," Nano kneeled down over Akai and looked him straight in the eyes, "The only thing that went wrong was I underestimated your reaction time."
Akai suddenly tired pull out his M18, however; before he could even bring it to bear Nano snatched it from his right hand. Akai's eyes widen as large dinner plates, "H-H-H-Ho-" he tired stutter.
"How am I still alive?" Nano interrupted Akai, "It's this thing called: I'M NOT A FUCKING IDIOT!" Nano got up as he yelled the last part so he could kick Akai breaking his already cracked ribs, which caused Akai to cough up blood. "DID YOU HONESTLY THINK I WOULD ACTUALLY SEND MOST OF MY BIOMASS INTO A CONFINED SPACE TO CONFRONT A MAN THAT CONTROLS ONE OF MY BIGGEST WEAKNESS!?" This time Nano kicked Akai's face and broke his jaw. "I even made sure to sneak some extra explosives, just in case you decided to pull that stunt you actually did pull back there so it would hurt you even more than it would save you." Nano stated his voice now a lot calmer but it still held malice.
"P-P-Please I-I nev-v-er betrayed-d-d you!" Akai pleaded his words barely comprehendible between the stuttering and broken jaw.
"Bullshit! You were saving it for the right time, right when it benefit you the most," Nano retorted, "I know who you are, you are slimly, lying, cowardly maggot that grows off the expense of others. I mean just look at what you did just now! Blowing up an apartment, no doubt injuring if not outright killing several innocent people," Nano point at Akai, "We never trusted you, in fact; we always knew this situation would happen eventually," Nano once again closed the distance getting it into Akai's face, "Until then you would be our precious little pawn~."
Now was when Akai had really started to panic and started plead for life, but Nano ignored him and pulled away and stood before Akai. "You know, it is really unfortunate, with a semblance like yours, you could have made a great Huntsmen. With that personality and intelligence of yours, you could have made it far as politician," Nano paused as he raised Akai's gun which caused Akai's pleas to increase, "But no, instead you shall die here: in a dirty alleyway covered in blood, piss, and shit." It was then that one surviving gunman stumbled into the alleyway.
"Hey what are y-" Akai had only enough time to process how Nano whipped Akai's gun around and point it at the gunman while ,simultaneously; in his other hand formed an exact replica of the gunman's pistol and point it at Akai's head. There was two flashes and two bangs before everything went dark.
