High Protector 2
I am in the process of updating and changing a few things to make things clearer and flow better. Hopefully I have a new chapter out this month.
Steve and company land in London and after making their way to a SHIELD safe house are briefed on everything Fury knows about the Magical World. When Fury details that only those in the room are cleared to know about the Magical World as well as their spouses they all are stunned but when some context is added such as the Witch burnings and the Spanish Inquisition things start to click in place for the various members. Steve details his interaction with Fleamont and how he came to be declared High Protector of House Potter. That next day is the meeting with Gringots so they all get some sleep.
That next day Fury reaches out to one of his contacts in the Wizarding World, not someone in the Ministry as Steve would not have been named High Protector if the Ministry had been doing their job. No, this man is a simple Bartender. He grants them access to Diagon Alley and directs them to the Bank warning them not to upset the Goblins. They all make their way to the bank ignoring the looks the populace gives to them. Once they enter the bank they approach the teller.
Griphook looks up and gruffly asks "Hello, how can Gringots help you today."
Steve replies "I received a letter from you to be here today as High protector of House Potter. I am not sure who I have to talk to about that."
Griphook smiles "You must be Steve Rogers. We have been expecting you. Who has accompanied you here today? Normally the High Protector works alone."
Steve is a bit surprised but doesn't let it show "This is Natasha Romanov, Clint Barton, Nicloas Fury and Tony Stark. They are comrades in arms and have been assisting me with the transition to the modern age."
Griphook knows a few of those names and decides not to comment on it "They are welcome here, follow me to the back we have a conference room waiting for you. We will now send our summons for the Potter Heir." He leads them to a back room with a big table and yet another Goblin introduced as Sharptoungue.
The Goblins send their messenger to go find Harry Potter and find out why he isn't here. When they find out Harry has had his mind messed with they are furious. No one is allowed to mess with Goblin business. They bring Harry to the bank explaining he has important business that must be done that day. Once Harry is at the bank he is immediately led to the back room where there are a bunch of people waiting all sitting around a table. He immediately sits down waiting for someone to explain things.
Sharptoungue begins "This is Steve Rogers Harry, he is your family's High Protector named so by a former head of your House back during WWII. It wasn't until you came into the bank that we were able to go find him. See we needed to know where you were staying so we could bring Steve and you together. Harry you have two choices you can return to your Aunt and Uncle or you can stay with Steve here as he is the regent for House Potter."
Harry is stunned to hear this but he knows he can't stay with his Aunt and Uncle as they are terrible people and this High Protector has to be a good man to have named such at least he hopes he is. "I would like to talk to Steve before making my decision."
No one is surprised by this "Well my name is Steve Rogers I fought in WWII for the Americans. I am from New York, I was experimented on during the war and given certain abilities towards the end of the war I took a plane full of weapons down over the polar ice caps and was frozen in ice until about 6 months ago. I saved a man named Fleamont Potter during my time in England between missions and we got along well and he named me High Protector and explained some of what that detailed. I fought alongside Charlus Potter, he became my second in command as the war was winding down. I have spent the last 6 months catching up on everything going on recently."
Harry hears this and is intrigued, a soldier no way his Aunt and Uncle would interfere with one of them and America now that would be a nice fresh start. "Thank you for explaining who you are. I do believe I would rather stay with you then my Aunt and Uncle. Will we be going to America or staying over here?"
Steve looks at the kid unsure of what to say "Well as Regent I have access to all properties under the Potter House and I do have a decent bank role from my time in the Army. It's nice what 70 years of interest will do." Steve chuckles "I was also given an apartment in New York. Honestly I haven't decided. I just found out about you a few days ago when I received the summons here. I believe we should at least look at your family properties and see if there is one you want to move to before we decide on anything. How does that sound?"
Harry perks up hearing this man sound so nice "Looking at the properties sounds nice. You are aware I am a Wizard, correct?"
Steve smiles "I have been informed and while none of my friends here are and neither am I we have been given authorisation to know all about you society. You have no need to be afraid of anything you do around us."
Harry nods "When can we begin this property hunt?"
It's at this point Dumbledore storms in.
High Protector
Albus was watching his instruments with great interest today for today was the day Harry was supposed to go to the Bank for some reason. He didn't care what that reason was. Now that Harry had done his shopping he had no need to return to the Wizarding World until school started. No need for him to actually interact with anyone before he could manipulate those interactions.
All of the sudden one of his devices starts to act strange. It says that Harry is gone from his house and being led to Gringots. This can not be allowed to stand. He has to finish his meeting fast and get there before they can do anything. See he made himself the Magical Guardian of Harry for a reason. It gave him access to his vaults and allowed for him to make contracts for him, binding contracts.
He speeds the meeting along and finishes just as Harry is being led into the Bank. As soon as everyone has left his office he walks over to the fireplace and Floo's to Gringotts. Once he arrives he demands to see Harry Potter as his Magical Guardian; it is his right after all. They inform he can not see Heir Potter at the moment as he is with important people from his family. This simply makes Dumbledore mad. Who told Harry about his Heir status? Who are these people from Harry's family he had made certain there were no other Potter's left? He finally confounds the teller and storms back.
High Protector
"This meeting is done as Harry's Magical Guardian I declare this meeting done and I will be seeking damages from Gringotts and all those present for damages to Harry." Albus declares
Sharptongue looks at him ruefully "I do believe you were told you can not be in this meeting. Leave now. If you do not then security will remove you."
"You have no right to bar me from this meeting. I am his Guardian after all." Albus declares more mad than ever now.
Steve stands up at this especially seeing the way Harry is reacting to the yelling "You were told to leave this is private business between Harry and the Regent of House Potter. If you do not leave I will set House Potter and all of its allies against you both Magical and non magical." he says with a perfectly even voice to hide the anger he is feeling at this man.
Dumbledore is stunned by this "I am the regent of house Potter and I will be doing no such thing against myself I promise you that. Who are you anyway?"
"My name is Captain Steve Rogers, retired US Army. I am the man who defeated the Red Skull, the man who killed Hydra. I am the chosen of Fleamont Potter to be the High protector of House Potter and I am the regent of House Potter until such a time as Harry here can take the mantle upon himself. I don't know who you are or who you think you are but you are not welcome here as the Goblins have said this is House Business and as such none of your concern. Now leave."
Albus is stunned by what he just heard. He does not have the authority to override a high protector. He was unaware any still existed as none had formally been used in over a 100 years or at least that was what he thought. Clearly he had been wrong. This changes everything. He has to leave and reevaluate his entire plan now. "I accept what you have said, Captain Rogers. Please forgive me. I was unaware of your standing. It will not happen again. Harry my boy, I will see you at Hogwarts. Enjoy your summer." There that should cool their jets and get them to relax around him. If he has to, he will simply arrange for this Steve fellow to have an "accident" and then return Harry to his Aunt and Uncle.
Once Albus leaves Harry and Steve are told they can go see the properties at any time. Steve looks over at Nick "Fury I want everything on that man and I do mean everything. I don't trust him nor do I like him. Sharptongue can you ensure that Mr. Fury here has all transactions from the Potter Vaults going back say 50 years. Also any contract he signed I want to review and be ready to undo them all. Of course you will be compensated for your work. Tony can you assist with that?"
Fury nods his head and Tony Responds "you think he is stealing or made some kind of contract for Harry. I will of course help, that man reminded me far too much of Obadiah. Will you be wanting me to help with security as well?"
Steve nods "If it's not too much trouble once we pick a place I would appreciate it. Now Harry shall we go and see these properties of yours?"
Harry is still unsure of what all is going on; he just had people fight over him and only one actually seemed like a good person. That Dumbledore man seemed far too much like his Uncle. "That would be lovely."
And so Harry, Steve, Natasha and Clint accompanied by a Goblin trusted Wizard go around and view the Potter properties. While this is going on Fury and Tony are left in the conference room to go over all the documents requested. What they find should be startling but having met the man they don't find it as shocking. Of course he has been stealing funds this is not something that has even been well hidden. He also locked Harry into not one but several Marriage contracts the ages of some he has been promised to make them physically ill. While with others they find the timing rather suspicious.
