HIGH PROTECTOR 7

As far as I have found Lord Nott was never given a first name. The enemy of my enemy is my friend Steve would have learned this in WWII fighting with the USSR against the Nazi's. Malfoy and Nott are the power players of the Dark alliance and they don't like Dumbledore for obvious reasons so logic would have them working together to defeat a common enemy. Sorry for the delay in the next chapter. I have been having trouble writing it. I did get inspired the other day and have finally had the time to actually sit down and write it. I hope people continue to find this entertaining. If anyone has any ideas please feel free to send them to me, I am always on the lookout for new ideas on how to make the story better. Just because you suggest something doesn't mean I will take all of it or any of it but I do read every review.

That next morning they all get up and make their way to the Great HAll for breakfast. On the way Susan finds Hanah and waves her over. "I missed you on the train and now we are in different houses. I hope we can continue to be friends even in different Houses. We have been friends so long it would seem a shame to let something like that ruin it."

Hanah smiles "Of course we can still be friends, you are not getting rid of me that easy. Who is this your with?"

Susan smiles "I'm glad to hear that. This is Harry Potter. He is the reason I ended up in Gryffindor. You should come sit with us at breakfast and we will tell you all about it."

Harry nods "Hello Hanah nice to meet you, sorry for stealing away your friend yesterday she was a big help getting me onto the train."

Hanah smiles a big smile "Wow I never thought I would actually meet Harry potter let alone get an apology from him. It's not a big deal, though stealing her to Gryffindor certainly is. You will have to explain that to me at breakfast."

They all head in and grab a spot at the Gryffindor table sitting there is Susan, Harry, Nevil, Hanah, Hermoine. After Harry tells them the same thing he told Susan on the train Hermoine has some questions "What is a High Protector? How are they chosen? Who are his friends?"

Harry smiles "I don't have all the answers and frankly I don't know that anyone does. It's a law so old that much has been lost to history. Basically he is like a Godfather only with more responsibilities. I can't tell you all of them for security reasons but I can give you one name and you might recognize it, Tony Stark."

Hermoine's jaw drops "Tony Stark, the richest man in the world, the weapons designer, IronMan. Is a friend of your new guardian?"

Harry, having seen a bit of news over the years, nods "yes he is also in charge of security for our new residence."

Nevil has a terrified expression on his face that hasn't left since Steve's name had been mentioned. "You don't mean the man who led the great Lords against Grindewald do you?"

Harry nods his head "From what my grandfather said yes he is the man who did that."

Nevil stutters "My Grandfather was in that group. He said Steve was the nicest man you would ever meet but put even the fiercest dualist to shame with his battlefield prowess."

It is at this point time cards are passed around and class schedules are given. They make their way to Transfiguration first only to find an empty classroom with a cat sitting at the front. They all take their seats and ready for class and they talk amongst themselves while waiting for the teacher to show up. A few minutes after the bell rings Ron and Sheamus run in looking disheveled. "Glad we made it before the teacher can't get us trouble for showing up before her." Ron snarks

At this point Professor McGonagall transforms from her cat form into her human form. "You didn't now that will be 10 points from Griffindor for being late and next time I will make one of you into a watch. Now take your seats."

This stunned Ron and Sheamus, their head of house being so mean on the first day of class. After they sit down the lesson begins in earnest. Today they are learning what transfiguration is and why it is important. The lesson goes fine, nothing else exciting.

And so their school begins. It isn't until Charms that afternoon that anything interesting happens. After Professor Flitwick starts the class and begins explaining the light charm and has everyone pull out their wands that anything even remotely interesting happens. "Mr. Potter where is your wand?"

Harry responds "I have a wand and it is ill suited to me. Upon finding my ancestral home I found our relic vault and this staff called to me and replaced my wand. According to family records that is common with our house."

Flitwick nods "Yes I do remember dueling Charlus he used a similar staff. As long as it works for you and you are careful I will allow it. I am assuming your family Grimour has staff movements for the spells we will be learning?"

Harry responds in the affirmative "Yes sir it does. You dueled my grandfather?"

Flitwick smiles "Yes I did feel free to come by after class sometime and we can talk about that."

At dinner that night everyone is curious about why a staff not a wand and so Harry tells them the same thing he was told and they are amazed. Things progress like normal with Snape being an ass and Quriell being useless. Halloween rolls around and they are in charms class when Hermoine, just trying to help a struggling student like she would want to, tries to help Ron. This does not go over well. Ron in a fit of anger that is becoming his normal lashes out at Hermione deciding that she is being useless and that she should return to her own kind. This of course sets off professor Flitwick and all those around him. The room goes totally silent, everyone having heard what Ron said.

"Mr. Weasley, that will be a week of detention with Mr. Flitch and 100 points from Gryffindor. Also we will be leaving right now to go see the headmaster. Class dismissed." Flitwick snarls out.

Everyone quickly cleans up their stuff and proceeds to leave. Harry and Susan make sure to stop Hermoine on the way out before she can run away. "Hermoine no one deserves to have anyone talk to them like that. You were just trying to help and we all need help right now. I have a feeling Ron is going to get off without further punishment so stay close for the next few days alright. I don't want him to think he can be mean to any of my friends without consequences." Harry says, trying to reassure her.

Hermoine nods "He just can be so mean sometimes I don't understand why he does it. You really don't think Dumbledore will do anything else?"

Harry shakes his head "Unfortunately you are close to me and I made him angry when Steve became my high protector so no I don't think he will."

At this Susan and Hannah frown "Why would your high protector stepping in make him mad other than the loss of votes?'

"I have no idea but he was raving mad when we met him in Gringotts after he interrupted our meeting." Harry replies.

With that settled they all head to lunch. Later during dinner that night professor Quirrell runs in and announces a troll is in the school. This of course sets off alarms in everyone's head. How a troll got past the wards is beyond strange why the Defense against the Dark Arts teacher didn't simply deal with it is unsettling at least to some students. After this they all return to their dorms the troll is eventually dealt with. That next morning Harry Draco and Susan all meet up in the owlery to write their respective guardians about last night. "How bad is a troll? I gather its unpleasant to deal with but how bad could it have been last night?" Harry asks

Draco looks over at him "It could have killed everyone in the great hall in under five minutes. When my fathers hears of this I don't want to even think about what will happen."

Susan smiles at Draco's response "While I would like to see that he will have to get in line. When my aunt hears about this the whole weight of the DMLE will be coming this direction. The last person to let a troll breach wards around a populated area was sent to Azkaban for life. This will not be good for whoever is responsible."

Draco smiles "I forgot your aunt is in charge over there, this will be fun."

With this done they all send their letters. Once their letters reach their respective guardians all hell breaks loose.

Amelia Bones Office

Lucious Malfoy and Steve Rogers are in her office both demanding to know what the plan is. "I am sending my best Aurors who I know won't be swayed by Dumbledore's honeyed words to go and investigate. They are reporting directly to me. How the troll got in is unknown at this time however as Headmaster of Hogwarts Dumbledore is responsible for any breach in the wards that puts students at risk."

Steve nods "This is your area not mine I will defer to your experience."

Lucious is not pleased "I want Dumbledore removed from the school, pending an investigation of course"

Amelia looks at him "As head of this department I have to say I don't agree. However as a guardian of a student there I will be pushing for that."

Unfortunately at this point Albus is still politically untouchable and so nothing happens, however people are starting to ask questions about him and so his armor is being chipped at one piece at a time. When the investigation went nowhere Steve begins thinking about pulling Harry from Hogwarts and sets up a meeting with Lucious and Amelia to discuss schooling for their children.

"If I wanted to pull Harry from Hogwarts how would I go about doing that? I have a class list he would be taking. It's different from the Hogwarts curriculum but covers everything he would need and more." Steve asks

Amelia nods her head "Well its not unheard of for people to educate their children at home with private tutors and is rather easy to do. You just fill out some paperwork and submit the tutors names they don't even have to be approved or anything. You should be warned it is good to be around friends and from what Susan said he will want to take his friends with him. Could you accommodate 8-10 students?"

"I certainly could. I have a friend assembling the best team of tutors money can buy right now from across the globe. I of course don't want him to study alone and would invite all of his friends to join. Thats why I asked Lucious here, Harry and Draco seem to get along and based on our conversation after the troll you don't trust Dumbledore to keep your child safe either."

Lucious nods "I appreciate the invitation and yes I don't trust him to keep my son safe. If Snape hadn't been there I would have never allowed him to go in the first place. I am curious what this class schedule you are putting together looks like. Also how would housing go?"

Steve hands over to Amelia and Lucious a class list "This is just the preliminary one of course if you have input I would appreciate it. As far as housing I was hoping that they could have the option to go home nightly or at least on the weekends. I don't like the whole you don't see each other for 9 months thing. It just doesn't seem right."

When they look at the list they are confused by a few subjects being on here. "What is Science? Why nonmagical history? Why Literature?" Amelia asks

Steve smiles "Science is the study of how everything works and why. Nonmagical history is important because often events are tied together for instance Grindewald and his rise corresponded to WWII and the Nazi party these groups did work together on a few occasions but also independently to further each others goals. Literature is something I have always found fascinating and there is much we can learn from books that we simple don't from anywhere else."

Lucious nods "We have discussed some of this before and while I don't agree with everything you say I can see the benefit of everyone of these classes. I know my wife and I have found some muggle books to be quite a bit better than any magical fiction. I imagine you will of course be teaching them some muggle things as well?"

AMelia is stunned by what she is hearing and so stays quite.

Steve nods "If they follow through the whole time with us they should finish with both a muggle and magical education. I do have a request and it is a big one so please hear me out before you immediately say no. As head of the Potter family I have been given access to the Potter family spell library, in there I have found things that are basically easier versions of the same beginner spells they are being taught in their first couple of years. I am sure your guys family libraries have this as well. Would it not make sense for these spells every old family has a version of to be taught to the children we are in charge of. I am not talking the battle magic and the dark curses but rather the household chore magic and the basic light up a room or cook or other mundane thing."

This gets both thinking. At first they where going to say no as family magic is sacred and deeply personal but some of what he said just makes sense. I mean how many cleaning spells do you really need. They both decide they need time to think on that and in Lucious case consult his wife. They both agree they are in though for the education and will talk to others who can't be left at Hogwarts. Steve asks for Hermoine's home address as it seems Harry and Susan have befriended her and neither would want her left behind.

Hogwarts

Harry gathers all his friends by the lake the day after he gets a letter from Steve. "So Steve sent me a letter today detailing what he is putting together. He wants to pull me out of Hogwarts and have private tutors teach me. He also didn't want any of you left behind and has asked if I would be alright operating as the host house for lessons. I of course am on board. Hermoine he asked if he could talk to your parents about it so I am asking you is that something you would be interested in. Draco my dad and your dad already met and he is thinking of pulling you as well and having you study with us, I am assuming he sent you a letter?"

Draco nods. "He said it would be harder than Hogwarts and taught by the best in the world and I could see them every night or at least on weekends depending on how they end up setting it up. It sounds like Madame Bones My father and your Guardian are working on this together should be a lethal group they get."

Hermoine was debating but it sounds like all her friends are leaving and she doesn't want to be alone especially after the troll "Tell Steve to contact my parents I will send them an owl today to let them know to expect someone to talk to them about school."

Everyone nods that they are in and will be sending letters to either Lord Malfoy Madame Bones or Steve to express their thanks and their interest.

Once everyone has left Harry walks with Hermoine up to the Owlery "Steve mentioned that they will be teaching Muggle studies as well and that we will leave with our high school diploma. I know that doesn't matter here in this world but if I want to do something outside of magic it will help and I am sure your parents will be over the moon when they find out our science teacher is Tony Stark and Bruce Banner."

Hermoine stops short "You weren't kidding when you said the best in the world. How did you guys get Doctor Banner he hasn't been seen in a few years?"

Harry scratches the back of his neck "He may be staying with us. See he was on the run for a long time and needed a safe place and Steve's boss brought up the idea he asked me and I said yeah sure whats one more misfit. He has been staying on site ever since."

Hermoine's eyes get huge. "He is going to teach us science? Thats awesome when my parents find out they will for sure say yes."

Harry smiles at that "Good I don't want to leave you behind. This will all start after Christmas. It does take time to assemble the best in the world."

They send their letters off both using Hedwig at her insistence.

Steve

Steve had reached out to Fury about assembling a team of instructors since Nick has all the contacts in the magical world and would know the best in the muggle world. He agreed Stark and Banner would be the best for science and Natasha and Clint would be best for hand to hand. Fury reached out to a friend in a department that is rarely ever mentioned beyond his inner circle to see about an offensive and defensive teacher and finds the perfect one especially when it was mentioned who it was for.

Lucious and Amelia both agreed with Steve on his point about mundane family magic being shared and agreed to teach it after the first year. Narcissa also insisted on teaching a customs and etiquette class once a month, stating if Harry and the rest want to be more than they were born as they would need to know how to interact with the older more traditional families. Steve saw the benefit of this and quickly agreed asking if he could attend as well.

And so the teachers where assembled and agreed upon after a brief argument over the Defense teacher.
