Aaron and Emily were out to dinner. Rachel was hanging out with Brooke. Since she had moved to the area for school they had gotten really close. Of course, Brooke had been introduced to the whole family at this point and everyone loved Brooke and thought she was the perfect fit for Rachel.

Aaron was originally going to ask Rachel to watch to watch her younger siblings but she between work and babysitting as it was she hadn't had much time to do what she wanted to do he decided to find someone else. Lorelai had found out that he needed someone, and she jumped at it. She had been lacking in time spent with them lately and told her dad she would watch them.

Aaron and Emily dropped the two kids off at Lorelai's before they went to the restaurant.

It was a fancy place. With low lighting and candles. And a menu without prices. Emily shook her head and smiled. "You know I don't need fancy dinners." She said

Aaron shrugged. "We all deserve something fancy once in a while." he said with a smile taking her hand across the table in his hand.

They ordered their food and drinks and truly were having an amazing time. Desert was brought out after their meal. Sitting on top was a ring box. Aaron carefully took the box off as Emily's mouth dropped open. Aaron got down on one knee.

"We spent so many years pretending. Pretending we didn't have the feelings we do. Pretending we were just friends. Than we finally got over ourselves and admitted those feelings while you were in London. We did the long-distance thing till you came back whether it was karma, faith whatever you want to call it you were brought back to DC. And I invited you and Lily to come live with us. Since than everything had been screaming at me not to screw this one up. Not to let you get away. That we are meant to be, Through the good times and bad. Emily Prentiss will you do me the honor of being able to call myself your husband?" he asked before opening the box to revel the perfect ring.

Emily felt the world around her turning. She forgot that there were other people in the restaurant. She listened to everything he had to say. Emily honestly never thought of herself as the marrying kind. But when she met Aaron something changed in her. And when they finally started dating slowly over time her feelings about marriage changed. She watched how happy JJ & Will were. How happy Penny & Derek were. How happy Lorelai and Spencer were. She also could sense how happy she was with Aaron. She had never been happier with any other man before. When she saw the man on one knee telling her how he felt and saw the perfect ring in the small velvet box. She knew without a doubt what her answer was.

"Yes." She said breathlessly.

Aaron slipped the ring on her finger and stood up. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her deeply. Emily kissed back. The restaurant cheered. When they broke apart they both sat back down and enjoyed their cake.

Meanwhile at Lorelai's they were watching a movie. Lily had climbed into Lorelai's lap at one point and was shivering. Lorelai covered her with a blanket. "Are you feeling okay?" Lorelai asked softly.

"My tummy doesn't feel good." Lily said

They had eaten a lasagna that Lorelai had cooked she looked at the others. "Everyone else feel okay? Wasn't the food?"

Spencer shook his head. "Don't think so. I'm fine. And she didn't eat much."

Jack said he was fine too.

Lorelai felt the little girls head. She seemed a little warm.

"Probably just a stomach bug than." Lorelai said. "Close your eyes okay?"

Lily closed her eyes and after awhile whimpered. "It really hurts."

"Where on your tummy? Show me." Lorelai said

Lily pointed to her lower right abdomen.

"Does the pain come and go?" Lorelai asked

Lily nodded.

Lorelai looked up at Spencer.

"Take her. I've got these two." Spencer said

Lorelai looked at Lily. "I'm going to take you to a doctor okay?"

Lily nodded.

She got up and carried Lily and went out to the car. Getting the little girl all buckled in and covered her with the blanket again and drove to the hospital. When they got there Lily was sobbing at the pain. Lorelai carried her inside and told the triage nurse what was going on.

They were taken straight back to an exam room and a doctor came in shortly. He did an examination. He palpitate her abdomen and nodded when Lily cried out.

"Its her appendix. We will take her back for an ultrasound and than likely take her for surgery. She's your daughter?" The doctor asked

"No. My sister. Parents are on their way." Lorelai said. She had called Emily while they were waiting for the doctor. "But do whatever you need to."

The doctor nodded.

Lorelai looked at Lily. "I know your scared, but they need to get a picture inside your tummy. It wont hurt. And if its what we think it is you will need surgery. You will be put asleep for it and wont feel a thing. And when you wake up you will get all the popsicles you want." She said

Lily nodded. "I want mommy." In tears

"She will be here soon, but they have to take you. She will be here when you get back." Lorelai said. "But I know you can be brave."

Lily nodded.

She was taken away. Lorelai went out to the waiting room and sat down and put her head in her hands.

Aaron and Emily got there soon after.

"How is she? Where is she?" Emily asked

Lorelai looked up. "They took her to get an ultrasound and likely will be taken straight to surgery afterwards. Its her appendix."

Emily nodded and sat down. Aaron sat next to Emily and took her head. "It's a routine surgery." He told her.

Emily nodded. "I know. I know it happens."

Aaron looked at Lorelai. "You okay?"

Lorelai nodded. She texted Spencer what was going on.

"You can go home if you want. We've got this." Aaron said

Lorelai shook her head and rubbed at her stomach. "No. I'm good."

Aaron tilted his head. "You sure? What's up with your stomach?"

"Cramp." Lorelai said

Aaron raised an eyebrow. "I know your not lying to me."

Lorelai sighed. "Its under control"

"Is it another ulcer?" Aaron asked

She nodded. "I saw my doctor a few days ago. I'm on antibiotics and other medications."

"Why didn't you tell me?" Aaron asked

"Because I have it under control…." She said her eye drifted to Emily's hand. "Is that. An engagement ring?!" Lorelai asked looked up at the two of them a smile on her face.

Emily and Aaron looked at each other and smiled. "Yes. I proposed tonight." Aaron said

Lorelai squeed and got up. Hugging them both and congratulating them

They both hugged her before she sat down again.

"You can tell Spencer but let us tell everyone else." Aaron said

Lorelai smiled and nodded "Of course. I'm just so happy for the two of you."

A couple hours later the doctor came out.

Lorelai saw him. "Emily, Dad. This is the doctor."

"How did the surgery go?" Emily asked

"Perfect. It -was her appendix. It was removed before it could burst. She is in recovery and a nurse will come get you when you can go see her. But she will be fine." The doctor said

Emily let out a breathe.

"Thank you doctor." Aaron said

The doctor nodded and left.

Aaron looked at his daughter. "Go home. Get some sleep."

Lorelai opened her mouth to argue.

"Don't argue. You know she is okay. We will let you know more when we see her. Go home. And get some sleep." He ordered gently

Lorelai sighed. "Fine. I'll go. But its with protest." She gave them both a hug.

Emily hugged her tight. "Thank you for taking such good care of her."

"Of course." Lorelai said before she left and went home.

When she got home she checked in on Jack and Hailey. They were both asleep she went and took a shower and climbed into bed with Spencer. Spencer opened his eyes.

"How is Lily?" he asked

"Surgery went well. I will be told more when they know more. I was ordered to come home." She said with a smile.

Spencer smiled and put an arm around her and held her close. Lorelai smiled and the both fell asleep.
