It had been two weeks since everything had happened. Lorelai's wrist was healing but it was a slow process. Mentally she was working though everything is therapy. Lennox went back to school like nothing happened. She found out the woman she was with was not her biological mother and that she had been used to try and get to someone they knew but she wasn't told who. Hunter and Johnathan had been trying to get in contact with Lorelai. But Lorelai was avoiding their calls. She wasn't ready to face them. She still didn't believe that they weren't blaming her for what had happened.

Lorelai was at the hospital with Hailey. Her pediatrician's office was at the hospital. Hailey had a check up for that day. Everything went well Hailey was happy and healthy. Lorelai was coming out of the office carrying Hailey and saw John walking down the hall.

Her flight instinct kicked in and she turned down another hallway and hoped he didn't see her.

John was walking down the hall of the hospital he was on his lunch break and was heading towards the cafeteria. He saw Lorelei come out of an office and turn down another hall. He sighed and shook his head. She and Spencer had quickly became his and Hunter's best friends. After everything had happened with Lennox he and Hunter had tried to connect with her, but he knew that she had been avoiding them. And what he just witnessed was just confirming what he knew. He knew that he needed to call her out on it, or it would just continue to grow in awkwardness.

He went over to the hallway and looked down it. "You want to not be seen you need to be more evasive." He said

"John! Didn't see you there." She said trying to play it off

"Mhm." He said

She sighed.

"I'm on my lunch. Would you two like to join me? In the cafeteria?" John asked

Lorelai took a breathe.

"Come on Lorelai. We need to talk about this." John said

She nodded. "Okay. We don't have any plans for a few hours." She said. She went with him, and they went to the cafeteria as Hailey babbled.

"She's really talkative today." John said

"She has been the last week or so. And clean bill of health from the pediatrician." Lorelai said

"That's great. So that's why you two are here today?" John said

"Yup." Lorelai said

They picked up some lunch and went and sat at an empty table. John pulled over a highchair and Lorelai put Hailey in it. "Thanks."

"Of course." John said

"How's the wrist?" He asked

"Healing. Slowly." She said

"How's the pain?" He asked

"Right now, about a 6." Lorelai said

"Did you get prescribed any pain killers?" He asked

"Yes. And yes the doctor said they would be fine with breast feeding but I haven't been using them." Lorelai said

John nodded. "What were you prescribed?"

She told him.

"Yes. Completely safe." He said

"I trust the doctor I have seen him to many times to count in the ER the last few years but I still… I'm cautious when it comes to any drugs." Lorelai said

"Something to do with your past?" He asked. "If you don't mind me asking." He added

"I don't no. Your husband knows so I'm surprised you don't to be honest." Lorelai said "Both my biological parents had drug and alcohol addictions. I did get tested I don't have the genetic predisposition and the rest of the extended family I do know or know of don't and didn't have that problem but when you spend so many years worrying about it… its hard to break that thought train." Lorelai told him

"Hunter doesn't tell me thing about you or anyone that he doesn't think is necessary for me to know." John said, "And vice versa."

Lorelai smiled and nodded. "It's the same with me and Spencer so I guess I shouldn't be surprised."

John nodded. "I understand why you feel that way. But you don't have to suffer with the pain."

"I know. I just. I do take pain killers when I absolutely need too. But I have been in far more pain than I am right now. I can handle it." Lorelai said

"Fair enough." John said

She handed Hailey a squeezy container that had veggie puree to eat.

"What is she trying today?" He asked

"Its spinach and pea. They are both something she has had a few times and loves." Lorelai said

"Ooh. Good. Getting the greens in." John said

Lorelai took a breathe. "John. I cant begin to say I know how to apologize for what happened." Lorelai said

"Lor. We don't blame you. This was not your fault." John said

"How does Lennox feel about it all?" Lorelai asked

"Well, she wasn't hurt. The woman who took her claimed to be her biological mother. She knows the truth about it now. She knows that she was someone trying to hurt and get to someone we know. But we didn't tell her who it was." John said

Lorelai nodded. "Do you plan to tell her?"

"Hunter and I haven't fully decided yet. We wanted to wait till we talked to you." John said

She let out a breathe. "And I've been avoiding that…."

"No really?" John said sarcastically with a smirk.

"Okay. I know you know." Lorelai said a small smile on her face.

"I have spoken to Spencer, and he told me that he told you we didn't blame you. So why still avoiding?" John asked

"Maybe I blame myself." Lorelai said, "If we hadn't connected and became friends she would not have been taken."

"And if we didn't become friends we would be missing out on knowing two people Hunter and I consider to be some of our best friends." John said

His phone went off with a text and he looked and shook his head and looked around the room.

"What is it?" Lorelai asked

"A friend of Hunter's must be in here and sees us together. Sent Hunter a picture." He said shaking his head.

Lorelai laughed. "Some friend doesn't realize you both are not attracted to women?"

"Right?" John said with a small chuckle. "Hunter is just jealous he is missing out on time with you."

"I will call him. Arrange something to hang out." Lorelai said

Lorelai's phone rang at that moment, and she looked at it and answered. "Or he will call me."

"Hey Hunter." She said answering her phone

"Hey. You're done avoiding us now?" Hunter asked bluntly. Of the two of the men he was definitely more of the one not to beat around the bush about things.

Lorelai sighed. "Yes. I'm sorry."

"Its okay. So, when are we going to hang out?" Hunter asked

"You busy tomorrow? We can do the mall. Do some damage on the credit cards?" She said with a smirk,

"You still with my husband?" Hunter asked with a chuckle.

"Yup." Lorelai said with a smirk

"So, we are going to borrow their credit cards right?" Hunter said still chuckling

"Of course. We cant use our own. When they married us their money became our money right?" Lorelai said chuckling.

John just shook his head. "You two the mall and mine and Spencer's credit cards. That's dangerous." He said with a smirk.

Lorelai laughed.

"I'll pick you up at 11?" Hunter asked

"Sounds perfect." Lorelai said, "See you than."

They hung up.

John and Lorelai finished their meals and John went back to work and Lorelai went out and caught a cab with the baby. She hadn't gotten a new car since the accident and was relying on the bus and cabs right now.

She got home and got Hailey down for her nap before doing a bit of cleaning.

Spencer came home later while she was finishing up making dinner. He kissed her head. "How are you?"

"Okay. Ran into John at the hospital after Hailey's check up. Clean bill of health by the way." Lorelai said

"That's great. Yeah. John texted me told me to keep an eye on my credit cards." Spencer said with a smirk.

Lorelai chuckled. "That's okay. I have my own."

"Glad you have worked things out." Spencer said

Lorelai nodded. Hailey babbled from her highchair.

Spencer smiled and went over to her and kissed her head as well. "Cant believe you are almost going to be one."

"Me neither." Lorelai said

The three of them sat and had dinner. They played with Hailey for a couple hours after before she was put to bed. A couple hours later the two of them went to bed as well.
