Author's Update:

Hi, I just wanted to update my readers on the progress of Stone Cold (Dark Seas' first sequel) and my current plan for posting it. I finished writing it about a year ago, and have been re-reading it over the past month to remember it a bit more before I start editing. Currently, I have it divided into three parts, each about 70k words long, and I'm planning to post each of the parts at around a single time, after I edit them. Personally, I think it's a bit annoying to have to read a single chapter per time, so I'm hoping this is preferred. Right now I'm hoping to have the first part released around the start of 2021 (edit: it'll probably be the third part released in the first couple months of 2021 instead): I just finished writing Rising Flames (the second sequel to Dark Seas) so won't have that to work on over break, although I'm considering starting an original project around the same time. I might end up releasing the prologue and another short scene before I post Part 1.

I should note that Stone Cold takes place two years after Arc 2, and will definitely contain spoilers for that (but not Arc 3). There are a few differences that take place after Book 8 (as should be clear from the final scene of the post-epilogue) that I think will be explained in the writing. I should also note that there's an old version of Stone Cold out there that I wrote before Dark Seas — I ended up stopping working on it because I realized it didn't make any sense without Dark Seas and Torrent/Crystal's backstory, so I basically wrote Dark Seas as a prequel. When I rewrote Stone Cold, I kept most of the same plot as the original, though there are still a number of changes. Part 1 is basically going to be rewritten stuff, while Part 2 and 3 are mostly all new stuff.

Also, at the moment, I think I'm just going to add Stone Cold onto this story? Since FFN doesn't have any series options, I feel like this is probably best since they're direct prequel/sequel, and I really don't think Stone Cold makes a lot of sense without Dark Seas as background. I'll likely change the name to something more of a series name, and update the description. I may also crosspost to AO3?

I've also gotten myself a print version of Dark Seas! It looks pretty cool, I think! Considering sending one to Tui!

Please note me if you have any questions!

Also — I really appreciate reviews! If you managed to make it this far and finished Dark Seas, I'd be grateful if you left one!
