"Where are you?"
My voice echoed around the empty room. It bounced off of the concrete walls, and made its way back to me. The blue haired, blue eyed quirky girl was nowhere to be found. I started wondering if I had just imagined her out of desperation for company. There was no indication that another person had ever existed in our shared space.
It was like she never existed. My stomach knotted as I sunk down onto the dusty mattress, and wrapped my arms around my knees. Would she return if I slipped silently into madness? I buried my head into my arms, and squeezed my eyes closed. Perhaps she'd appear in my subconscious if I concentrated hard enough.
"Get back in there."
The sound of the door slamming was enough to pique my curiosity. I looked over my arms, and my heart flipped in my chest.
"You're okay."
I breathed a sigh of relief, but something about her seemed odd. Her blue eyes were dull, almost colorless, and her demeanor was stoic.
"M-Miya?"
Her voice shook as she spoke.
"I'm here."
She made her way towards me, using the wall to guide herself as she walked. She stumbled, and I grabbed her arm before she toppled over.
"What did they do to you?"
She lowered herself onto the dingy mattress, and turned her back towards me.
"Nothing they haven't done before."
I turned my head.
"They've done this before?"
She nodded slowly.
"They use my Quirk to watch for any heroes that happen to be nearby. They know the side effect of my Quirk leaves me blind. They don't care. I'm not a human to them. Just some sort of tool."
It was heart wrenching to see her so beaten down. It was almost as if she were a shadow of her former self. As odd as I found her I much preferred her quirky side.
"Hey," I touched her shoulder in a comforting way, "don't be discouraged. We'll find a way out of here. I'll bring you to All Might. He'll know what to do."
She scoffed.
"All Might is a dead man walking. Your Father is making plans at this very moment to exact his revenge for your Mother's death."
I ground my teeth together until I felt a sharp, electrifying pain in my jaw.
"He won't do anything. He's been planning this since-"
"He will, Miya."
She turned back towards me. The color was slightly returning to her eyes.
"Your Father lost faith in you the moment you stood with All Might. He's ready to move."
My stomach churned, and my head throbbed painfully.
"Then we need to move, too. And fast."
She shook her head sadly.
"It's pointless. The door has round the clock guards. We can't get out unless-"
"Unless you can see."
She blinked, and kept her eyes on the door.
"I don't know, Miya. It's risky."
Her head suddenly snapped up, and her eyes widened.
"I-I thought your vision was-"
She held up one single finger, and pressed it to her lips. She grew in a breath between her pursed lips, and spoke softly.
"It's faint, but something is there."
My heart started beating quickly in my chest. Her eyes were glistening when she glanced at me.
"We're going to be okay. It's-"
The metal door scraped against the concrete ground as it opened, and my hands instinctively sprang to my ears.
"Hey, little Scouty Scout."
The scorpion man was leaning on the metal frame of the door. His pointed teeth were bared, and he was flicking his segmented tail over his shoulder. He blinked his yellow, catlike eyes and made a gurgling noise in his throat.
"Boss Man needs a favor. Come with me."
She hesitated, and kept her eyes away from him before taking a step forward. Scorpion man twisted his face into a gruesome smile, and a hiss escaped between his dripping teeth.
"She won't be going with you." I interjected.
The scorpion man's eyes fell on me, and a sinister cackle bubbled up from his chest.
"Well, well. If it isn't the pretty little princess."
He slithered to my side, a low growl rumbling in his chest.
"Say, how's that puny little boyfriend of yours? Hasn't come to rescue you yet, eh? I thought he'd give a little more of a chase, but I guess it would be hard to run after someone with tears in your eyes, wouldn't it?"
He erupted into a fit of laughter, and turned to leave the room.
"Oh, and what about that joke of a Number One Hero, All Might. He couldn't even protect his precious student. Symbol of Peace? Pah, it's laughable. Man, I can't wait to see the light leave his eyes when Boss Man ends his life.
"Maybe he'll let me deliver the lethal last blow. I'd hit him with a-"
"Shut. The hell. Up."
The scorpion man turned back towards me. His eyes were squinted, and his head was turned.
"What did you just say, you pathetic little brat?"
I hid my shaking hands behind my back, and stood myself up tall in an attempt to look intimidating.
"I said shut the hell up. You talk too much for an unknown villain."
He rounded on the spot, and bared his pointed teeth. His breath was hot, and damp against my face.
"I should kill you for that," he stopped to compose himself, "but I won't because Daddy has bigger and better plans for you."
I opened my mouth to speak, but heard only the sound of silence. The scorpion man's lips were twisted into a grotesque, evil smile.
"What are you-"
He began laughing in a way that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
"You'll find out soon enough, Princess. Although, if it were me personally I'd just kill you. He's wasting his time on a pathetic little bitch like you."
The scorpion man stumbled backwards as my fist connected with the side of his face. His clawed hands thrashed around wildly as he desperately attempted to stay on his feet.
"Miya, you-"
I lowered my throbbing fist, and looked over at the wide eyed quirky girl.
"Run." I said in a voice that was barely above a whisper.
She wrapped her hand around my wrist, and bolted for the door. The scorpion man's eyes were wide, and angry as he regained his balance.
"Sir," the scorpion man's words were urgent, "we have a slight situation in the holding room. Miya and Scout have escaped."
We twisted and turned through long hallways that bore a similar resemblance to U.A's, and the thought of being back there made my heart skip several beats. Scout rounded a corner, and looked over her shoulder.
"I think we lost him." she said, breathlessly.
She breathed a deep sigh of relief, and then a concerned expression crossed over her face.
"Are you okay?"
She kept her blue eyes on my hand as she spoke.
"Hm? Oh, yeah. It's fine."
She smiled crookedly.
"Thank goodness. That punch was brilliant by the way. You should have seen the look on Scorpion's face when you hit him."
I choked back a laugh.
"His name is Scorpion?"
"Pathetic, right?"
The smile disappeared from her face as she looked over at me.
"What do we do now?"
"We need to find a way out, and we need to do it quietly."
"Right," she sighed, "I can navigate, and keep watch for anyone standing in our way."
I attempted to extend my wings, but drew them back in, and cringed in pain.
"Miya, don't," Scout touched my arm gently, "save your strength. You'll need it."
"Yes, Miya Suzume," a voice called out, "you'll need your strength, but what's strength without your sanity?"
Scout spun around, and her face drained of all color.
"No." she whispered.
Evil, bone chilling laughter echoed from behind me, and my eyes widened as I turned around slowly.
