Act 1

Chapter 1: Where am I?

He opened his eyes a little for a few seconds and he closed.

He were reopened and then closed.

Once again he opened and this time he did not close.

The first sensation he felt was a terrible headache. He was touching his head and he could feel a bruise. He must have hit his head on something pretty hard. Not only that, his legs felt very sore. As if he had walked a lot without resting.

Then he looked around, confused. He was in a completely empty and dark room. Semi lying on the ground. He could barely see in the night light from the hole above. He also heard the rain from within. Of whatever this site is.

He didn't understand what he was doing here, lying on the ground. The last thing he remembers was... Wait. He doesn't remember anything. Not even his name. He tried to force himself to remember his past… how he ended up here.

It must be the blow of his head. He is suffering from a kind of amnesia. But he must try to remember something. It did not matter if it was small or big, the enough that it was something which he would explain how he ended up here... or something from his past.

After his efforts, he had only one word in mind Riolu. Maybe it's his name... It definitely is. It was strange, but he knew it.

His name is Riolu and that is what he knows so far.

Hw try to remember something else from his past. Nothing. It was strange that he hardly knew his own name.

What was he going to do?

... It seems that sitting is not going to help him at all. Maybe if he explored around, he could remember how he ended up here. So he got up off the ground and looked around for a way. The problem is that everything is dark. He can not see anything.

But he realized he had a kind of outfit. He saw that he had a black vest, a green shirt and a blue scarf tied around his throat

Another thing he noticed is that he had a backpack on his back. He take it off and check it for its content. There were many things, such as berries, a flashlight, a compass, a canteen, seeds and other objects. And what stood out the most was a notebook. There was nothing written. Another disgrace to his list.

Then he took the flashlight out of the backpack and put the backpack on his back. He lit the object and walked down the dark corridor.

There were puddles of water in some parts of the hallway. There were several leaks and with each drop, it dreamed a little echo. The place he was in must be an old or abandoned one. Or both.

He was wondering that the moment he gets out of here, he will find help. The help to recover his memory or to tell where he can sleep. He felt tired. What time would it be at night? Either way, he didn't want to sleep with his body cold and wet. And this place was obviously not the one.

At the end of the corridor, he found a vast empty space. There was nothing but columns. He must be on a sub-floor. What would this space be for? A warehouse maybe? But he saw on the ground, white stripes at each end of his right and left side. Organized and separated. As if they indicated that there is a space.

Another unanswered question. His priority is getting out of here. He walked forward while looking down a path to get out of the sub-floor. Then he found a metal door on his right. He walked calmly. When he got there, he had the complication that the door was stuck. He try as much as possible, but the only thing he could open was a little bit. Nothing else. The only possible way was to knock it down, but he didn't think it was possible. Since the door was big and he felt that someone strong would be needed for that.

So he left the door and kept looking for another way. Every step he took, every time he felt very uncomfortable being here. He felt that he was not alone. If there was someone else here, he would have seen it by now. But this place gave him a certain fear. The faster he can find your way out, the better he will feel. He could also feel a cold draft of air ahead of him. Probably another way out. A very big one so he could feel the current.

Then Riolu, found something on the ground. A very small, circular object on the ground. Taking it, he saw that it was a coin. One side, it had a strange face and sticking out his tongue. It also had some strange symbols, three on one side and three on the other, and underneath it said: Ten pesos. On the other side, a winged creature was shown on a plant with thorns. The most that stood out, is that in its peak, it had a creature without arms, without legs and fangs. What does it present? At the top, it said: United Mexican States. What is that? A place?

Suddenly, he hear a strong hit from afar. Riolu, very surprised, turned back and saw other lights, such as his flashlight. They came from the door that was closed. There were like five in all.

"He must be around here! Find him!" Said a male voice.

Riolu, was confused. Who was he looking for? Wait a minute... They were looking for him! He was the only one here, it made sense. Explaining the pain in his legs and that he most likely came here to hide from them. And that at some point, the ground fell because of how rotten it was and that he hit his head. Although he wished to remember at least why the persecution.

But before moving on, he saw other lights coming from the other exit. Making his escape complicate

He quickly turned off his flashlight to avoid being found so soon. Now the downside is that by doing so, he can no longer see anything. Except for the guy's flashlights. But he could take advantage of those lights and the sounds of their footsteps to know how close they were to him. He could use the columns to hide and when no one is looking, sneak to another column and exit through the already open door He had to risk it, he couldn't allow himself to be captured. Then carefully and without making as little noise as possible.

"Where are you, chaparro?" Said the voice. "We know you are here. No exit. Give up now, it's the best for you."

The words of that person did not convince Riolu. First of all: he does not know him and was not willing to trust him. His instincts tell him that this man was dangerous. When he was near one of them, they couldn't fully see him, but he was taller and bigger. They all are. Now he understood why they called him short.

He eventually managed to get to the door without being discovered. He did not close it, to avoid making a noise that will spoil all his effort. He went up the stairs, his flashlight on. But being careful, he didn't know if there was someone higher up who was with them.

Now he was on the lower floor of the building. Everything was extensive and open. A courtyard. He also noticed that the place have three floor high and with several rooms. Although he still has no idea what this place is.

But when he arrived, he saw that there was another group. But this group was reunited. Listening to guy speaking, who seemed to have some authority.

Riolu turned off his flashlight and listened to the talk. Maybe he can get some valuable information. "We already looked for the reception of the abandoned hotel and it's not there." Said a voice.

"We also check the kitchen and neither." Said a second voice.

"Any news in the parking lot?" Asked a third voice.

Hotel, parking... were words that Riolu did not know. But he didn't care much about that and he kept listening.

"None." Said the fourth perso. "But they will let us know if they find him on the radio. Meanwhile, Paco, Gonzalo and I will continue looking for him on the lower floor. You guys look for him on the upper floors. "

Hearing that, Riolu, got worried. He was on the stairs, they also led to the floors above. Some of them would have to come here and he had to move. He couldn't go down and he couldn't go left or right. He would be discovered quickly.

So he chose to go upstairs, but he was still listening to the talk of those guys. "We're going to take a long time looking for it in every room." Said the second voice.

"It doesn't matter. We have to catch him for good." Said the fourth voice. "Salazar, will not tolerate this failure."

Riolu, stopped listening to them. He climbed to the second floor and went to the right. There were many rooms to hide. He went towards the end, opened the door and entered. He closed the door just as gently as he opened it.

What was he going to do now? He clearly heard that they were going to search every room until they found him. It was only a matter of a short time until one of them came here and caught him. He didn't think they could just handle one of them. And if he could, surely the scandal will attract others and there he would be lost.

He tried to think of a good idea, but nothing occurred to him. He was trapped. Then he began to search the room and saw that there was another door. He di not hesitate and opened it, just to see that it was another part of the room, but with a reduced space, but with strange things here. But what stood out the most was a mirror.

His reflection showed a creature with blue and black fur. Ears, orange eyes, and strange extensions that were on each end of his head. But his expression showed confusion and concern. Minutes after waking up, he was in serious trouble But most of all, he had another question on his mind. He saw himself, a person who had no identity. A body without a soul.

Who he was?

Then he hear someone entering the room. It wouldn't take long to check in the small room he was in. In desperation, he found a small window that he could slip away from. As quickly as possible, he reached the window and opened it. The height was too high, he was going to get hurt a lot if he decided to jump. But then he saw that the door was about to open. With no other option, he jump.

The moment of the fall, he hurt himself falling on his right arm. He avoided screaming in pain and holding on as long as possible. Riolu, look up, to see if that person saw him, jumping out the window. A few seconds passed and he didn't see him peeking out, so he assumed he didn't see him. He did not want to risk and ran away from the place, while grabbing his hurt arm and going through the rain.

He could hear the water splashing with his footsteps and the rainwater, impacting the grass floor. When he looked back again, making sure no one was following him. They should keep looking for him in vain in the hotel, he lost them. So he turned on the flashlight and kept running across the grass.

Soon he would come to a path. He saw that this path was pure concrete and that he went on it to examine it. It was pretty rough and it looked like it was driving towards a place. But where? Then he started to hear something moving too fast. From his back. Something that was confirmed when he started to see a light that was getting bigger and more intense. Riolu turned to look and saw a giant metal thing. Heading straight for him and he was very close.

Surprised, Riolu jumped to his left, before the thing hit him and somehow made a loud sound. He watched as he left, shocked and confused. He almost died there. He got up on the ground, wondering if there were more of those giant things. It was like a transport. How would they work?

Then he notice that there was a sign. Riolu used his flashlight to illuminate the sign and read what it said. Santiago Tangamandapio. 5 km.

He wondered if it was a town he could go to. It sounded quite 'promising'. But again, he need a place to rest and heal his wounds. He had no choice. In addition, there he could hide from the people who were chasing him. So he walk down the path.

An hour passed and now he was in the town of Tangamandapio. He walked through the dark streets, not knowing where to go. There were many houses and there were lights illuminating the road to Riolu.

Even though he was here, he didn't know what to do now. The smartest thing he should have done is ask for help at the first house he saw, but for some strange reason or instinct, he decided not to. He felt very unsafe in this place. Not the same insecurity that he felt in the abandoned hotel, but much more.

He was freezing and was totally wet. He desperately needed a place with a roof and that was at least a little warm. He was going to get sick if he don't. Then he found an old abandoned house. It wasn't pretty at all, but this was the best he had for the night.

He enter the house through the old wooden door that creaked loudly. At first glance, there was nothing. Just dust. Just like the abandoned hotel, but he would be safe here. He examined the house, leaving wet footprints for every step he took. He went upstairs and checked each room to see where he could sleep. He wanted to find something to sleep in, but saw that the rooms were empty, except for a box on the wall. He supposed it was the most comfortable thing for him to sleep on and he had no intention of sleeping on the frozen floor.

So he climbed into the box and leaned against the wall, using his backpack as something comfortable to lie down on. Crossing his arms and legs, to have a little warmth, although it was going to be very difficult with that wet body and the cold breeze coming through different parts of the house. He just wished he ended up falling asleep as quickly as possible. His tiredness would help him with that.

What a night. Waking up without memory, being chased by unknown people and people who did not know either. Tomorrow he would have to get to know the area a bit and try to remember a little of its past. Once he get his strength back.

He closed his eyes. Tomorrow he will
