Act 1

Chapter 3: A friendly cop

After leaving the crash site, Riolu arrived at a computer asked where he could look for information on anything. They gave him two options: Go to a library or search for it through a computer, since it was an instrument that young people normally used.

Not remembering much of the two terms, he made the decision to use a computer. Since he was a young boy, it was the option that was to be expected. The woman indicated where he should go and surprisingly, it was close.

When he got there, he was surprised to see that there were many people in the place. Giving the idea that the instrument is widely used. He had to wait in line for a few minutes and pay for the use of a computer for a certain time. He had also asked how it worked and the person who worked explained. Everything seemed to be very easy to use and the man left.

Now that he was in his seat and nobody was looking at him, Riolu, took out the document he obtained and began to read it

Orders: capture these four individuals.

Just to be clear, couple of brutes. We don't trust you, not even to get bread, but we are in a bad situation. These four individuals have recently escaped and we have to quickly catch them.

The last time we saw them, the four of them had separated into a group of two: a Kirlia and a Zangoose, were going to Mexico City. While a Riolu and a Scorbunny, they went in the opposite direction. We do not know what their motives are, but we cannot let them get discover. It would be too bad for la Cruz Negra and los Ingobernables.

Inform us at all time. Failing is not an option, especially right now.

There was not much information, other than the names of the others who were being hunted. He took the pictures and saw it.

The first was his, the one he had seen before. The second was of a creature with two pink horns, white and green skin (just like her hair), and pink eyes. She wore a pink crystal necklace shaped like a heart and a butterfly brooch. On the side of the photograph, it had the word "Kirlia" written on it.

The third had white fur and red markings on his face, and bigs ears. He was wearing black glasses. It highlighted that it had "Zangoose" written on it. And his expression showed that he was not cheerful type. The latter was a creature with a bih head, very long ears, a pink nose, and red eyes. He was wearing orange goggles and written "Scorbunny." He seemed to be very cheerful.

He didn't expect the three of them to look much different than him. He expected they looked like him. But that didn't mattered a lot.

Returning to the note, two organizations were mentioned: La Cruz Negra and los Ingobernables. The names were not familiar to him, but now he knew who was chasing him.

But he wondered what had happened to Scorbunny. He should be with him, but he wasn't. Something must have happened, just before he woke up. That made sense.

Now he had one goal: find them. They could help you remember your past and everything that is going on. He didn't know where Scorbunny was, but he knew where Kirlia and Zangoose were going. To Mexico City.

Obviously he did not know where the place was, but he asked the man next of his side. "Excuse? Can you tell me where Mexico City is?"

Before going there, He was going to find Scorbunny, but he would rather know where the city is so he already have something less to worry about.

The person could not believe what he had just heard. "Por favor amigo! Everyone knows where Mexico City is! It's next to Morelia, the state of Mexico, Tlaxcala and Puebla and all that."

Riolu, was uncomfortable hearing that "And where is Morelia, the state of Mexico, Tlaxcala and Puebla?"

The question made not only him, but the people around him get shocked and confused. Seeing the reactions, he felt even more uncomfortable. "Um, where can I get a map?"

Some of the employees heard Riolu's question, but was also a bit surprised by the question. "Can I print one for you right now? But you would have to pay it before you go."

"I understand, muchas gracias." Riolu said.

He preferred to have a map than to repeat this painful moment. He did not know how long it would take to print the map, but he would use this time to investigate.

The first thing he look out about his race. He put his name in the search and there was no result. He put the names of the rest and there was nothing. It seemed like they didn't exist in this world. He was able to know that this species is called "humans" and it was the species that occupied the whole world. He also knew that there were other living beings called animals and that they were all different and varied, but they did not have the same intelligence as humans or his.

The second thing he look for was Mexico. As he suspected, Mexico was a country and he was in the state of Michoacan. He checked the distance between Tangamandapio and Mexico City, which was a lot. It would take days to get there, if he were walking… But going in a transport would take hours. Something he think about later.

The third thing he investigate was about la Cruz Negra and los Ingobernables. About the first organization, it was a very famous cartel for commercial illegal things, kidnapping and even worse: kill. There are so many things about them. At least they weren't going to kill him, looking at it from the bright side.

When he look for los Ingobernables, he find two factions called "Lucha Libre", but they were not what he was looking for. He knew it must be something like Cruz Negra, but he couldn't find anything.

He kept learning about la Cruz Negra. He found a note that talked about them.

La Cruz Negra

Formed in 1983, in Culiacán, Sinaloa. Created by the infamous Ricardo Salazar, currently the leader of this Cartel. At the beginning of years of its creation, they have been made famous for theft and trafficking of weapons, substances and even people. They have proven quite clever when it comes to the act. Their code is money and they are to be feared.

For years the Mexican government has fought against the cartel countless times, capturing important members, but never Salazar. Lately la Cruz Negra has done too many activities in the country and other Latin American countries. It is still unknown how they have gained a lot of money and power, but it must take with a lot of precaution. When meeting them, means danger of death, as I have experienced before.

It is recommended that any information regarding their whereabouts to be reported to the police or the military as soon as possible.

Last night he had escaped from them, he heard Salazar's name before. Now he knows that this guy was the jefes de jefes. Quite a dangerous man. Someone who is glad that he wishes he did not meet.

But there was something that caught his attention. The text it said: "as I have experienced before." Did this person meet them?

He search the site for the author of that note, to be able to find información about him and his encounter. At the top of the text, there was a name: Maria Gómez.

He copy the name and inserted it in the search place. The results that there were, were of journalistic notes on things that doesn't interest him, but he found a story from nine months ago that she stars in.

On September 18, 2016, a boy named Mario Gómez, was disappeared when he arrived alone at an abandoned house in the forest. A day later the search was made and there was no result.

Two days later, Mario's older sister, Maria Gómez, (a young journalist) and accompanied by a friend named Ricky Jiménez, went in search of the missing boy. According to both testimonies, both were attacked by a man named Julián Rojas. Very important and dangerous man on la Cruz Negra.

He managed to catch the two and take them to a hidden basement under the house, where Mario Gómez was also, all that turned out that this place had a small warehouse of weapons and supplies of la Cruz Negra and that he watched for.

For the rest of the night until the morning, he hurt Maria until they somehow broke free and set off explosives that destroyed the house completely. All four made it out of the house alive, including Rojas.

Ricky, contact the ambulance and the police as soon as possible. Upon arrival, the ambulance took Maria to a hospital, while the police under the command of the officer named Andrés González, arrested Rojas, who was unconscious.

"It's incredible how these three young teenagers have managed to escape from Rojas. But he will pay for everything he has done tonight and his other actions to the citizens of our country." Andres said, about all this.

Currently Maria is in the hospital, recovering from all this. While Rojas, is judged for his crimes and possibly sentenced as 90 years in prison. An important loss in la Cruz Negra.

Also in the note it showed two photographs: One of those was of a two people in uniform putting in a person with long hair to the car. Rojas if he was not mistaken. The second showed the house totally destroyed.

Overall, he wasn't sure that this would do him any good, he only knew of an incident with la Cruz Negra. He was just happy that all three were well and that Rojas was in jail. For the safe of the people.

He look for images of the appearance of the three who escaped, since he was curious how they looked. Maria's first: with long brown hair, ponytail, Caucasian, and brown eyes. Mario had the same hair and eye color as his sister, but his hair was short. Ricky, was blond and short, and with green eyes.

It must have been terrible for them for having that experience. Experience that he will probably experience if he meet them again. Despite meeting the two idiots of the cartel, there's no comparison with the rest of their teammates. He wondered what los Ingobernables would be like. Equal or worse than them and not knowing anything about them, is what worried him the most. Sooner or later he will find out and not in a good way.

The next searches were only minor to satisfy his curiosity. Like: What are cars and other transport? What was Mexico? And the tacos. Looking for that last one and seeing the images of all the varieties, he felt hungry again. Especially the tacos de pastor.

So with nothing else to look for, he stopped using the computer, paid for the map and left the place. Outside, he check it out. He was thinking about where he should go to find Scorbunny. He should do it fast, he wasn't the only one looking for him.

Then he notice that people went to the center of town, he put the map in his backpack and went to investigate. When he got to the place he saw that the police were here and were arresting the two guys who had chased him.

"Kinder to us! No?" The skinny man said, before they forced him into the car.

After the two guys got into the car, the car left. They will surely judge them and they will imprison them. At least they won't bother him anymore. But he wondered what the police were doing here. Most likely, someone saw the whole event and called them to intervene, although they were late to help him, but in time to catch them.

His attention shifted to a man who was talking to a police officer. He was explaining the facts as accurately as possible. The officer wore a typical police outfit, a uniform that showed he was of important rank and age between thirty and forty years old. But that cop was smiling. Then his witness casually look at Riolu.

"Chanfle!" He exclaimed. "It's the boy that the guys were chasing!"

There he realized that he shouldn't coming there in the first place, that policeman seemed to be able to find out. The idea of running away crossed in his mind, but doing so would make things more complicated. The best thing was to answer the questions as best as possible and act calmly.

The policeman approached him and spoke to him. P"Forgive my daring, but is it true what the señor says?"

"Yes effectively." Riolu answered. "I'm not sure why they did it though."

If he acted innocent, he could somehow convince them. He looked like a small child, if he took advantage of that, he already had it from the palm of his paw.

"You don't know?"

"No. I was walking calmly until they arrived and started to chasing me."

The policeman became thoughtful. "They must be kidnappers of children." He said. "They take children in the streets to do anything with them. Like extortion or worse."

"But what are you doing here? You should be with your parent." The witness asked.

"Eh, they're... in the house." He lied.

"And why are you outside and not in the house?"

"Because I wanted to take a walk. I was bored."

"Are your parents very careless or they trusted you?"

"I opt for the latter."

Before the witness asks another question, the policeman intervened. "Thank you for your concern, but I think you have to give him some space." He said. "Everyone please, leave here. I take care of all this."

The people did what was asked and withdrew, although the other members of the corps stayed here. Riolu, was still worried. Since he was with the police, with people who could do something to him. Although he knew that the police were to protecting the citizens of the country and catching the bad guys. But he was afraid that the case would come that his identity was discovered, something that is very likely at this time, would end in something very serious and very bad.

"Now what, sir?" A policewoman asks the officer.

"Retreat too. I'm going to have a chat with him and then I'll do a report. Understood?"

The other members of the police withdrew and left two individuals alone, but without saying goodbye. Riolu, felt more comfortable for them to leave. But that did not mean that his identity was safe. There was still the other policeman. He could take the moment and run, but for some reason he didn't. This policeman was smiling, in a way that gave him a lot of confidence and he felt that there was no need to do so.

Then the policeman raised his hand. "I think we haven't formally introduced ourselves. Sergeant Andrés González, a pleasure to meet you."

Riolu, shook his hand. "Riolu." He said.

At that moment, the name of that cop seemed very familiar. Andrés González…Wasn't that the name of the policeman who had arrested this certain Rojas?

"Wait a minute, I think I've heard from you..."

"I think it is most likely. I've gotten quite a bit of fame over the years." He said. "But what about you? Have you already had breakfast?"

"Yes I had breakfast." Riolu replied.

"Good, but I guess you're in the mood for dessert." Andres said. "I know it's too early for dessert, but for a kid, it doesn't matter much. Right?"

"I suppose not."

"In that case, follow me." He said, walking in one direction.

Riolu, followed didn't know where they were going, but he had confidence in him. Not only that, it was a very good thing. He could know more about la Cruz Negra, from the policeman. Something that he could not waste.

13 minutes passed. Now the two were in an ice cream parlor. It was the first time that he was in such a place and he was unaware of many of the nieves. Although of course, there was a possibility that it was not his first time here and it was only the loss of memory that made him believe that this was his first experience.

Officer Andrés González said that he could choose the one he wanted and he paid. He ordered a nieve of guanábana without even looking at the options, as if it were his favorite.

Riolu looked at the number of options, but didn't know what to ask for. He asked each flavor was and the woman told him the name. Like: strawberry, orange, jaimaca, coconut and lemon. He chose the lemon one and she served the snows in a small plastic cup with a spoonful on top of each one.

After handing them over, the officer paid and tipped her. She thanked him for that and he said it wasn't a problem.

After this, she lifted her snow. "Bon appetit." She said.

Riolu also lifted his snow and they both started eating it. After a little taste, Riolu loved it. The flavor and the freshness, it made a tremendous combination.

"Chanfle! This is delicious!" He said happily.

"First time tasting lemon snow?" Andres asked.

"Yes! Officially my favorite."

"I'm very happy for you." He said, also eating his snow. "Question: you're not from around here, right? And that you are not a child despite your size?"

It seemed that somehow, anyone could know that he was not from around here, although with that outfit and with his face covered, everyone could know. Although at this point he wasn't surprised.

"Nop." He answered both questions, with a simple answer. But he asked him a question. "Do you live here?"

"No, I'm here for work." Andres said.

"Of work?" Riolu asked, curious.

"Yes, lately there has been activity of la Cruz Negra, in these places." Riolu, had an idea what he was referring to. "Although we're not sure why."

That meant the cops don't know about him and the rest. Something that was not much of a surprise. But again, he had to know about la Cruz Negra, like recent activities.

Although before asking the question, he was curious about one thing. When they went here, people greeted the police. He could see that they had great respect for him. Like a hero.

"By the way, do people seem to know you, even though you're not from here?" He asked.

"Well, in my work I have caught many types of criminals, big or small in my long career. I've even unmasked some corrupt cops." Andres said.

Now he understood. If he knew all that beforehand, he would show him a little respect.

"And one of them was Rojas." Riolu said.

"Very true." He affirmed, but seemed a bit surprised that Riolu had mentioned Rojas. "Do you know about him?"

"I only heard about the news. The same news I heard from you." Riolu said. "But I'm curious, how was the fight against la Cruz Negra."

"Not easy, being honest."

"Why?"

"It is that they continue to earn a lot of income illegally, so it causes them to get more merchandise from good deals with other organizations and to hire the best professionals to do their dirty work. They even have bought several policemen."

Riolu, now understood why they are dangerous and almost untouchable. With corrupt cops helping them, they could go anywhere without getting caught. And getting good things done and dealing with the right people meant that their 'businesses' would grow. Although it also meant that the people here, would be harmed by them and obviously not good.

"But there is something else." Andres said, causing Riolu to get his attention. "It is said that they have a partner. A partner that gives them much more income than any other cartel in Mexico or throughout Latin America."

If he didn't know, that other partner is los Ingobernables. This confirmed that no one knows about them, they don't even know their name. With those characteristics and assuming that they are also powerful as la Cruz Negra, they made a valuable friend. But also very dangerous.

Riolu, couldn't help but feel a little worried. He did not imagine what it would be like to face them. It was like entering a house blindly, he will not see what will be inside and the obstacles that will be in his way. It was a frustrating situation.

"Anyway... What brings you to Tangamandapio?"

"Well, I came for a friend. He lives around here and I wanted to visit him "He answered, with a bit of truth in his lie.

"Oh, and do you know where it he?" Andres asked curiously.

"I dont know. I lost his address and I 'm trying to find his house."

"I see." He said. "But he told you-"

Suddenly his radio had picked up a transmission. "Sergeant, do you hear me? We have an emergency. "

Andrés, grab his radio and press a button. "González, here. What is the emergency?"

Riolu, was attentive to the talk. It seemed like it was very important and he was curious to know. His ears helped him a lot to listen to that talk. "La Cruz Negra, has just taken a town."

The young boywas surprised. Take a whole town. "Is so crazy.

"How?" He asked calmly.

"I told you. They have hostages, they are armed to the teeth. It's all chaos. We have ordered all the police officers available to go town immediately."

"Understood. I'm on my way." He said, and the transmission was cut off. Then he look at Riolu, seriously. "Sorry for unexpected farewell, but duty calls. I hope you find your friend and be careful."

"You too and thanks for the snow." Riolu said, seriously.

The officer was going away, but stopped and looked at Riolu. "Another thing. The town is 30 kilometers south of Tangamandapio. So you don't go there. You understand?"

"Yes." He said, and the policeman left.

Riolu, was thoughtful. Poor people. He was hoping nothing bad happens to them. Well, don't happened something worse to them than they already are.

But something was wrong. Why did they done it in the first place? He knew they are capable of even killing, but there must be a reason behind that. Even if there were, that reason had better be worth the huge risk. Some benefit.

Suddenly, he had remembered a paragraph of the text that the fat man had: "These four guys have recently escaped and we have to quickly catch them." And: "we can't let them discover them. It would be too bad for la Cruz Negra and los Ingobernables."

There he realized the reason for all this. They had just located Scorbunny. They took the town so they could catch him and prevent him from escaping. That would mean they would end up catching him sooner or later. He had to rescue him.

But the problem is how. Going there would mean that they would catch him immediately. What choice do he have? Scorbunny was the only one who could help him regain his memory, and as much as he and Riolu, they were in the same trouble. If he can find him, his chances of solving this problem together will increase.

So he headed south of Tangamandapio. He wasn't sure what he was going to do, but he thought of something along the way.

He just hoped he was okay.
