Chapter 5: The brothers

Riolu, still couldn't believe he was talking to Maria and Mario Gómez.

In the afternoon he had heard from them, while he was looking for information about la Cruz Negra. He read a note that the sister made about them and then ended up reading the news story of the incident that both were involved in.

If someone had told him that he was going to meet them today, he wouldn't believe it. Too many things happened.

Right now they were in a small shed that kept various tools. Riolu and Mario, were sitting at a table, where Mario, had his video camera turned on and pointed at them. While Maria, was standing.

The 'Pokémon' was telling everything he knew, as the girl had demanded. Even though...

"Did you lose your memory?" Maria asked, incredulous

He was afraid to tell both of them that, as he was worried that they would not believe him. Well only Maria, didn't believe him. Mario, was willing to believe it.

"Yes, I hit me. The bruise is gone, but I told you the truth."

"And if you lost your memory, how do you know about us?"

"Because I had read a note from you that spoke of la Cruz Negra and that you also mentioned an experience of yours. So out of curiosity I investigated and there I learned about the incident."

"And everything today?"

The last question made Riolu feel worried. It was the truth what happened, but it sounded like a lot of coincidence.

"Yes ..." Riolu replied, uncomfortable.

"Coincidences happen." Mario said. "Remember the time we thought a person was following us from the market, but it turned out that he was going to the same party as us."

"Don't remind me that." She said, showing a bit of resentment. "But this is different."

"I know, I know. But he just said it's crazy, but it could happen."

"You're right, but the problem is that we don't know." Then Maria, look at Riolu. And if you don't have proof, we can't know for sure if you're telling the truth."

"I get it. But you have to believe me." Riolu, take his backpack and take out of it the four photographs and the note. "Even if you don't, la Cruz Negra is after me and if I want to have a chance to rescue Scorbunny, I need your help."

With the loss of memory and that he was alone, he needed help from the two brothers. He didn't know how much they know about la Cruz Negra and los Ingobernables, but he suspected a lot.

But at the same time I was very curious about both of them. What were they doing here? What was their goal here exactly?

Meanwhile, Maria was reading the note and Mario was looking at the photographs. "Mm, a lot of trust for those two idiots?" She asked.

"No idea and they are more idiots than you imagine."

"It sounds like they are desperate. But I don't think that's the case, but this is a big problem that should be taken seriously. "

"Because...?"

Although Maria does not know anything and neither does her brother, about the importance of capturing the four, he was waiting for the answer as to why they both knew about the existence of Pokémon.

First of all, Mario, spoke. "Maria, look at that picture!"

They both headed towards Mario. The sister took the photograph to see it. Riolu looked at the other three on the table and knew that Maria was looking at Kirlia's. The moment she saw her, she caught her attention.

"She looks a lot like Gardevoir." Mario said. "Not identical, but-."

"As an earlier stage in her evolution, yes. I know what you are referring to." Maria said.

"Who is Gardevoir?" Riolu asked.

First of all, Mario, looked at his older sister. Maybe his gaze was asking her not to distrust Riolu, and to question him once more. She sighed, if that was the case, it would be very useless and annoying to continue with that.

"It's a Pokémon, we met nine months ago."

If Riolu was not mistaken, she was referring to the incident that happened at that exact time. He did not understand, according to the news, they and Ricky, had an encounter with Rojas, which almost killed them. Unless there was something else, something that was never revealed and that they only know.

"Nine months!? Are you referring to the incident with Rojas?"

"Yes." The older sister affirmed.

"But according to the news-."

"The truth is that what happened that night was not fully told." Mario said.

"So what happened?" He asked, very curious.

Before either of them responded, someone knocked on the door. They all looked that direction. Riolu wondered, if they were la Cruz Negra, who had found them. But he discarded it out, since they would have broken down the door.

"It must be Santiago." Maria said as he headed for the door.

Riolu, had heard from Santiago, since they were on their way to escape la Cruz Negra. What he knew about them so far is that when Santiago got here, he had joined the brothers to distract some members so that they could enter the town. He had also said that he would get in somehow and that he would call if he succeeded. After arriving here, Mario, received the call from the him, informing that he was already in town. He told the guy to meet here, but without first telling him how to get there.

At that moment, Maria, opened the door. "Santiago, are you okay?"

"Unscathed." He replied.

Santiago was a person 1 meter and 75 tall. Black hair, brown eyes, he had a scar on his left eyebrow. He wore a black jacket, blue jeans. Riolu, had wondered who this Santiago was. There was nothing about him that was involved in that incident, so he shouldn't have been there. If he were friends with the brothers, did you know about Pokémon? Although it was likely, since he was coming with them in this dangerous place.

When he stopped looking at Maria, he was going to look at Mario, but he stopped at Riolu. He didn't look surprised, although there was a bit of surprise on his face.

"What is a Pokémon doing here?" He asked.

On the occasion that Maria was on a phone call with Santiago, she never mentioned meeting with Riolu. Perhaps she wanted to discuss the matter in person and in a safe place. Although of course, if she had said it from the beginning, it would have saved him the surprise.

"We found him in an alley recently before you call us. He says he lost his memory." Mario said.

"Did he lose his memory?" He asked, curious

"Yes, he lost it since yesterday in a chase. And he came here to find his friend, who is also a Pokémon. But la Cruz Negra, have captured him and they have locked him up somewhere. "

Santiago, thought a bit. "That would explain why they would do all this. It is not very common for them to do this type of action." He said. Then he spoke to Maria. "Then what do we do?"

She did not answer him. It wasn't because she didn't know what to do. On the contrary, she had a goal, but she needed to know something.

Then she look at Riolu. "We can help you find Scorbunny." Maria said seriously to Riolu. So Riolu and the rest were paying attention to the girl. "But in exchange for that, I need your help on this. One hundred percent. No matter what danger appears. You understand?"

Riolu, understood the danger. That was obvious, since if he was more concerned about his life, he wouldn't have come here. But also, he needed to show that he is trustworthy. It is the only way they will tell him about los Ingobernables and the Pokémon. Then there was the question of danger.

"It's okay. Whatever you say." Riolu said.

Maria just nodded. Santiago just looked and Mario smiled. "So we're going rescue Scorbunny?" The brother asked, although he already knew the answer.

"Yes." Affirmed her sister. "But where do they have him?"

"I think I know where he is." Santiago said

That attracted a lot of attention from Riolu and the two brothers. "You know?"

"Not at all. He had overheard two members talk while in hiding. They have locked him up in a house in the center of town."

"Where exactly?" Maria asked.

"They didn't say exactly where he was. But it is certain that there will be people watching the house."

"If we find members of la Cruz Negra, protecting the place...?"

"We will find Scorbunny."

Riolu smiled. They already had an idea where is him and with a probability of finding him But it's not equal to the probability of rescue success. Santiago, clarify that the best is to keep hidden at all times and be alert, which the others affirmed. Then without more to say, they left the house to locate the Scorbunny.

Before Riolu left, Mario, tapped the Pokémon's shoulder. "Welcome to the team."

Forty three minutes have passed. Even the four of them were looking for Scorbunny, who was somewhere.

They were in the center of town, there was not a sign of the Pokémon, but there were many patrols in search of Riolu. But thanks to the use of stealth and patience, they avoided them. Santiago went ahead of everyone and took care to make sure who was around and decide which way to go.

He did not know much about Santiago, but from what he has seen, he is a serious person. More than Maria. He acted with great confidence and calm. He had a certain mystery... that he dares not ask.

Not only was he attentive. Also all three, ensuring there are no surprises. They were going well so far, they didn't want it to go bad. Although Riolu, did speak with Mario, on a few occasions. One of them had asked him why they were here. He said that they came here to seek information, evidence, everything related to la Cruz Negra, to discovered something and get information to take down the cartel. They even planned the trip four days ago and two days later they had left.

Riolu, didn't help himself but wondering what they were looking for. It was honorable to make the cartel to dissolve, but why act now? Both brothers had made news of them and the importance that la Cruz Negra has been dismantled and that they pay for their crimes. Now they decide to do more than just make news. It gave him the impression that they were looking for him and Scorbunny, but they weren't. They came here to find something, but they didn't know what exactly.

He had a feeling that sooner or later he was going to find out.

Santiago had stopped and the others stopped. He took a quick look and headed toward the brothers. "I found the house." He reported.

"Are you sure?" Maria asked.

"Yes, take a look." He said, and Maria, look.

Santiago, indicated to the girl. He pointed to a house with three guards. One on the roof and two guarding the entrance at the front and rear entrance. It must be the house that the prisoner must be watching. It was clear that the next thing was to rescue him, but they had to get in somehow.

"Do you have any idea of entering without alerting the guards?" Maria asked Santiago.

"Yes, but we have to take them down to get in silence. Although I am worried that there are people inside..." Santiago said thoughtfully. "We could wait, but we risked more of them coming and taking the Pokémon away from here."

Riolu, didn't want to let that happen. They made it this far, their efforts would be in vain if they didn't. Fortunately, the others were willing to take the risk.

"I have an idea. Maria and Riolu, circle on the other side. Mario, you go with me."

"What are you planning?"

"The guard above is constantly on the move. When he's out there, Mario will throw a rock at the back of his head with his slingshot. It will cause him to be stunned and fall on the guard who is guarding the front entrance. Once it happen, use the taser to finish the job. With the commotion, I will take down the other guard."

It seemed that the idea was very solid. No one questioned the idea or propose another, so it stayed.

Santiago, went to another alley and Mario, was behind him. Riolu and Mario also did their part and surrounded the house.

Once they had a better view of the front entrance, also close, but hidden. Maria, was waiting for the message from Santiago, to indicate that they were ready and to be attentive.

While waiting, the girl spoke to the Pokémon. "In case we have to be discovered and we have to run, what are your moves?"

Riolu, was confused. "Movements?"

"Yes, what are they?"

"I do not understand."

Maria, turned to see Riolu, who was very confused. Seeing that expression, she was convinced that the Pokémon had lost her memory.

"Wow, you're not kidding." Maria said, surprised, but at the same time he showed some concern and frustration.

Riolu, seeing that reaction, was even more confused. Those moves sounded quite important and seemed to be the exclusive use of Pokémon.

"What are those moves?" Riolu asked.

"Attacks. Very powerful attacks. Unfortunately I don't have the video to show you. "

The Pokémon reflected on thi. He remembered that Maria had told him that she hoped he would help them in whatever way. She hoped Riolu would use those 'moves' to get them out of a bind or solve a problem that required using them.

"And you thought I would use those moves?"

"Yes." Maria said. "But that shows that you were telling the truth."

Before Riolu asked another question, Maria's phone had just vibrated. She saw the message from Santiago.

"Attentive." Maria said to Riolu.

They saw the guard above walking towards where the guard below was. They both expected at any moment that Mario would throw the rock at the back of his neck and that it would fall on top of his partner.

And that's what happened.

The guard was confused and angry at what happened. Maria, ran fast towards them and used the taser to knock out both members of la Cruz Negra.

Maria, look at Riolu. "See if anyone is nearby who would have heard the commotion." She said, looking around.

He quickly did the same as Maria. It was important, because before entering, the best thing to do would be to make sure there was no one nearby to discover them. Since if there is, it will have a Black Cross surge towards here.

Suddenly, the door behind the girl opens, revealing a member of the cartel. They were both as surprised as him. Santiago's suspicions were correct, there was someone inside the house. Before he could do anything, Santiago appeared behind him. He covered his mouth and used the taser to knock him out.

Following this, he put the guy's unconscious body on the ground. Riolu,was impressed. He guessed that he was also took care of the another guy on the other side. Not only was he smart and confident in what he does, but he also knew how to fight. That man was full of surprise.

Riolu, entered the house quickly and looked for Scorbunny, all over the house. Mario had also joined him. Maria and Santiago, reviewed some papers, but also attentive to the Pokémon.

The Pokémon, got worried every time when not being able to find Scorbunny, somewhere. Riolu, found a door and opened it. He saw that it was a closet that was full of cleaning supplies, but he was not there.

"He should be here." Riolu said, concerned and confused.

Mario, noticed the concern of the Pokémon and wanted to help him in whatever way. He understood his fear. He took another look around, but it was in vain, since he couldn't find him.

"I don't see him." Mario said. "I don't think he was here."

"Yes, he was. But they moved him. He is no longer in town." Maria said, with a paper in her hand.

Riolu, was surprised. "When?"

"Long ago, even before our meeting in the hall." Maria explained.

He couldn't help but be angry. There was never the possibility of getting to rescue him. Right now he must be far from here.

Seeing that reaction, she felt terrible for him. There should be something that can change his mood, but she didn't think a few words would work for him. So if there was information that he was transferred, maybe there is a piece of paper or the same one that says where they took him so they can go there and rescue him.

"Do you know where they took him?" Mario asked.

"No, but here he says what he suspected. That he was indeed an Ingobernable, but that he and the other three were deserters."

Hearing that, Mario, was surprised. Riolu, paid attention to both of them. "They? But how can someone like Riolu be part of the Ungovernables? "

Neither Riolu nor Maria answered them. Since there was no answer to the question or a logical theory.

"That would explain the reason for the persecution." Santiago said.

"True, but why?" Maria said.

Despite not finding Scorbunny, they found information that confirmed why Riolu and the other Pokémon are being chased, in addition to confirming that they belonged to the Ungovernables. Something that Riolu, still do not know anything about them.

Suddenly, strong lights came through the window on the right side. Quickly the four looked out the window and when they saw it, the four were worried.

It was la Cruz Negra. They had them surrounded and their weapons pointed at the house. It turns out that they fell into a trap. In a terrible trap.

"Guys... we're in trouble." Mario said.
