The third tournament was in full swing and Jin careened through many fights, having beaten and disqualified fighters. His last victory had a Manji Ninja with a sword knocked out clean. There was one more fight he'd have to get through before he could find and destroy Ogre. He heard that she effortlessly destroyed anyone who crossed her path, including a legendary wrester in a jaguar mask and a crazy merciless cyborg.
He didn't know what she looked like but he knew, that she was no ordinary woman.
His next fight was in a forest which would have been pitch black if not for the temporary lighting installed. He was the first to arrive and took in the surroundings. It was close to home. His heart ached a little.
A voluptuous blonde woman arrived. Dressed in skin tight purple jumpsuit. Her suit was painted in different shades of purple. Monochrome.
She was monochrome.
Her eyes were lifeless.
Jin Kazama versus Nina Williams! The mechanical announcer's voice thundered through the empty forest.
He noticed the knife strapped to her thigh. She'd be the second opponent he'd fight who brought a weapon. Jin had to watch his back. He trusted his training. That knife would not be cutting into him. No matter how skilled of a fighter she was.
Upon closer inspection, he noticed it was the same woman whom almost fell into the river a few days ago. She was lucky he caught her in time. He didn't know her name but was surprised she was also participating in the tournament. This was their second meeting. She eyed him for a moment before breaking the silence.
Something sinister then lurked in her eyes.
"Oh Jin. Poor Little Jin." The voice mocked. "Lost his mama and now will die out here."
He narrowed his eyes at how inhuman that voice sounded. The fierce looking blonde woman in purple looked at him maliciously. Her eyes were glassy and in that moment, he saw that she wasn't there.
An astral image of Ogre appeared high up behind her.
So she was just a puppet. He had to be careful.
"You won't be able to destroy me." Jin said confidently. "I didn't come here to lose. You did."
He was going to destroy Ogre. He was going to free her. He was going to revive this woman.
"Fight!" The mechanical voice said through the speakers before giving away to some bass guitar fight music.
She scowled at him like a feral cat, her ponytail flicked in the air. Jin was about to get into his stance but she charged towards him. So she was the opposite of him, an offensive fighter and he was the defensive one. Perfect. He ducked out of the way in time and grabbed her arm to do a shoulder flip. She was led towards the left and tossed onto the ground. She got up swiftly to unleash a serious of jabs to his face which was missed but then she ducked down so fast and kicked him on the side of his knee with her heel. Nina performed the biting snake which always seemed to do the trick in getting someone off guard.
She hit him below his face. He almost bit his lip as she did that.
Damn, she's a fast one.
Faster than him that's for sure.
She attempted to do a backhand body blow which Jin successfully turned the tables on her. He grabbed her arm to bring her low enough so he could kick her on the head in a double high sweep. His leg swung over her once and he used his feet to kick her in the face as he swung it back.
She crashed to the floor with both legs in the air. A groan uttered from her lips. His red lightening traversed through her body.
Jin let out a cocky scoff.
He loved doing that move.
He let her roll up back to her feet despite having the chance to hit her again as she was on the ground. He didn't do such things as they were dishonourable.
She leapt up at him with a serious of palm strikes and an angry growl to follow with it. He grabbed her arms to slow her down and she kneed him in the midriff. He was lucky she didn't strike him in the family jewels. Jin coughed and clutched his middle. She was fighting with no emotion. He had to make her feel again. To feel something.
He was going to be the fire to her ice.
She swung her leg and hit him in the side of his face. Jin groaned and staggered to the side. He swung a fist at her face and then launched her in the air soon after. Jin wasted no more time and juggled the blonde in the air with his second ten hit combo.
Once she was on her feet again, she was so mad and angry at having been turned into a circus trick so unleashed the best of her arsenal at him. Her blonde bomb, jab sweeps, geyser cannon, panther claw and some combos of her own. If he could, he would smile. He got her mad. She was finally feeling something!
Her goal was to get him up in the air like he got her but he was too good at keeping his feet on the ground. The best she got was poking offence. Hitting him everywhere really apart from his groin which would have taken him down sooner. He seemed to protect that area very well.
She was trying to get him to drop his defence and go into the poking game because that was her area of expertise. Frustrated she threw herself at him and locked their bodies in a crab hold. If she could break a bone, it would throw things in her favor.
Jin kicked her off when she got too close for comfort. Her thighs wrapped around him, her private part too close for his liking. What kind of move was that?!
They smashed against trees here and there during their messy and complicated fight.
He knew she was trying her best to ruin his defence game but Jin was no fool. His defence wore down her stamina. He evaded most of her high kicks, protecting his face but letting his torso get the most of her biting kicks. Then elbowed him into the ground.
Jin rolled away when she brought her foot on him. Instead of stubbing an imaginary cigar on Jin, her foot did it to the ground. She huffed, so out of breath, her ponytail was loose now and she was sweating. His bangs were almost clinging to his face. Just as sweaty as her.
He blocked another attacked and their energies sizzled and bled into each other, fierce red lightening meeting dynamic golden orbs. In a shockwave, both were thrusted back from each other. It took them a few seconds to get their bearings together as their hearts pounded fiercely.
What was that? That never happened to them before.
The energy of the other, crackled through their bodies. Merging with their cells.
The bruises on her body were screaming from the hits she sustained. Despite feeling sore, she was the first to rise. He barely got up when she came running at him again. Jin Kazama launched her into the air at least five times and she was seething. She came here as bitter ice and now was thawing.
They watch each other, circling each other. Jin was cautious and she was predatory. The bastard even had a cocky smirk on his face.
I didn't come here to lose. You did, He said to her earlier. We'll see about that, she thought menacingly.
His mind was reeling. He was breathing heavily now but needed to knock her out. No wonder Ogre chose her as it's weapon. She was so skilled. Any normal person would have been knocked out by now. Jin imagines his grandfather looking down on him, urging him to finish the match. A match that lasted too long was disrespectful to the Mishima family. But at this moment, he did not care about that. He just wanted the Ogre to release the woman so she could get her life back and he would destroy Ogre in the next round.
"You are my prey." Ogre told him through Nina's lips.
"I'm no one's prey." He scoffed at her. "Come and get me." He challenged as he powered up.
She fell for the bait again and charged at him. Jin unleashed another barrage of his ten hit combo and ending the battle with a white mountain move he learnt from his mother. He watched her finally pull out the dagger and swipe at him. He moves out of her way and managed to grab both her wrists. It's a struggle just to get her to lower her arms. She had inhuman strength.
Inhuman.
The blade was inching close and pressed into his skin lightly. Jin tapped into more of his power and twisted the blade so it faced her. He was just so focused on trying to get the dagger off her as they fought for control. Their bodies were pressing so close to each other. It happened so fast that only after she made a cry of pain, did her arms weaken and he yanked the dagger from her. He threw it far into the darkness so she could not retrieve it.
Once his eyes looked back at the blonde, he noticed that her hip had a small blood stain on it. A size of a coin soaked in dark against the purple jumpsuit.
"I'm sorry." He said sincerely. He didn't mean to do that.
She winced and glared at him, as if contemplating her next move of attack. Jin moved back to put some distance between them, hoping she would back off. He had his palms flat as they faced her, like a wall to keep her back.
Destroy him.
Nina growled as the command in her voice urged her to finish him off. She performed a sunset strike at his hand to get him off guard. She took the chance to charge and get close so her hands could go to his throat. They both crashed onto the soft earth.
Jin grunted as his back hit the surface and the impact of this woman on top of it made it feel like the wind knocked out of him.
Before he knew it, her hands were on his throat. His hands went to her arms, trying to pry it off.
The scent of soil was fresh in the air as they rolled on the ground, fighting for dominance. He got her hands off his neck but was still on the ground. Then in a move he wasn't prepared for, she smashed her lips against his. He squeezed his eyes shut, his heart pounded hard against his ribcage at being kissed so wildly.
Jin held his restraint, refusing to kiss her back and refused to let her into his mouth where she might bite him. She did the only thing that she had to do to get some semblance of control back. Her mind was screaming for her to expel Ogre from her mind. She opened her eyes to see Kazama resisting the siren's kiss. It was time to hurt him now but something wouldn't let her. She didn't have the will to grab his throat and squeeze the life out of him.
Slithers of emotion crackled the longer the kiss she planted on Jin Kazama prolonged. His lips wouldn't budge open and despite that, their mouths grew hot against each other. The raven haired man couldn't believe he let this to go on for long. He had no time to think about why.
His eyes opened as if he just come out of a trance and met her blue ones. They were icy but there was a flicker of soul in them. It took him back to the day he first met this woman. She was helpless then, more human. But he was no fool. She was not going to stop until she killed him or he stopped her.
He refused to die.
Using his entire strength to throw her off him, Jin got back on his feet again. He then performed his corpse thrust with so much power that she was sent flying far back and crashed onto the soft earth. He wiped the dirt off his trousers and noticed she wasn't getting up. The music suddenly stopped, leaving him in an eerie tension filled silenced.
Jin Kazama wins! The announcer's voice filled the area momentarily.
His lips were swollen from that unexpected kiss she planted on him. It was weird.
When she wasn't moving, he decided to see what he had done. The blonde woman lay motionless with her eyes closed on the ground.
Jin crouched down by the blonde to see if she was alive. The battle was so intense and he used more power than he planned to.
His hand went to her neck to check for a pulse. Suddenly her eyes flicked open and she let out a gasp. Startled, Jin staggered back.
The astral spirit of Ogre rushed out from her body with an ear piercing scream.
He watched in shock as she was exorcized off Ogre.
When it was over, he approached her again.
"Are you alright?" He asked softly, extending his hand to help her up.
She felt like a battered one. Her body was aching all over and Nina whimpered, not sure how she got to the forest. She thought she was dreaming. Some man with bangs and kind eyes was looking down on her.
His bangs hung over his brown eyes. Those eyes….His eyes were deep and soulful. They were beautiful. His eyes were beautiful. If she looked at them any longer, she'd be lost in them. He had the kind of eyes that led to an abyss. Never had she seen something in her life. Even if she couldn't remember, she just knew it deep down.
Are you alright? He asked her again, crouching down beside her.
"I'm finished." She said to the sky, to the stars. "There's nothing left for me."
Nina opened her mouth to continue but nothing else came out. It was clear that he was seeing this woman at her lowest. She felt as if she had nothing. No will to live. Nothing to keep her going. Life now for her was dirty, pitiful and tattered like splintered trees after a harsh storm. She didn't even know who she was. Who she could be. He decided to help her sit up. His touch was gentle.
"Forgive me." He said to the lost woman.
His heart did ache for her, seeing her like that. What a horrible fate. Remembering advice given to him by one of his friends which helped him through his grief a bit, Jin felt it was necessary to repeat it.
"Life can be beautiful if you let it. Give yourself another chance. Live." He said gently to her.
Another shot at life?
She blinked in confusion, her eyes were dry and red. The way he spoke to her, he shouldn't be so kind to her after what happened.
He brushed dirt out of her hair which somehow became undone during the fight. The gesture caught her by surprise.
Were people really so selfless? So kind?
"Come on, I'll take you to the medic." He said, helping her to her feet.
He was unsure of how to tell her she was possessed by a demon. The poor woman looked so out of it so he decided to help her. It would be wrong to leave her alone here. She suddenly grasped onto him like she was afraid.
"Am I alive?" Was her first words to him. Her first actual ones and not the Ogre induced ones.
Jin blinked, a slight bemused expression on his face as he simply stared at her.
"Well, this isn't hell or heaven."
He didn't know why he said that to her, perhaps it was inappropriate. He didn't know her past, her personality or her life. All he knew she was sent to kill him against her will. He felt so upset for her, being used like a rag doll. He wouldn't wish such a fate upon anyone.
He was curious about her though. Who was she?
Nina took the time to look at him. She wanted to remember the face of this man.
Why was this man helping her? He should hate her. Destroy her! Wipe her off the face of the earth! Anyone else would have. They wouldn't understand. They wouldn't give her a name, her name.
She was curious about him. Even though she was in pain, even when pounding and aching everywhere. Who was he?
"Jin." She uttered his name softly, like it was a blessing. He never told her but she just knew.
"Nina." He said back, remembering her name revealed to him by the announcer. They began walking now to get off the stage.
She is Nina.
Not Ogre's weapon. Not a test subject.
Nina.
A woman she didn't know she was.
All thanks to this man. All thanks to Jin.
He brought her back to life.
Her arm slung over his shoulders. His body warmth felt so comfortable. His hold so gentle that she almost fell asleep. It was strange that she trusted him enough to do so.
"You saved me." She murmured to the raven haired man. "Thank you."
He nodded in response, giving her a small reassuring smile.
She silently hoped that fate would let them meet again.

A/N: To be technical, Jin's 2nd 10 hit combo is from his TTT command list which can be found on youtube. I used both Jin and Nina's moves from TTT to choreograph this fight to comply with Canon. Background music is Nina Williams Arcade version of her T3 OST. I just felt that it fit the fight better.
Thanks for reading! Reviews will be appreciated. I hope you fellow Jina fans are happy with this.
