Toa Solaric: I don't own Pokemon! How is it going, everyone? Welcome to another chapter of my Sun and Moon: Michael's Journey!
Sun and Moon: Michael's Journey
Ch21: Treasure of Ten Carat Hill!
It's been a couple of week since the Family visit to Pokemon School and things have returned back to normal, or as normal as things can be for the students in Pokemon school.
Michael and Kiawe are currently having a one on one pokemon battles outside of their classroom. This is actually the first time the two ever decided to face each other in a pokemon battle. Michael thought this will be a good workout for his Shelgon against Kiawe's Turtonator. Both of them are on a heavyweight scale.
"Dragon Tail, Turtonator!" Kiawe shouts serious.
The Blast Turtle Pokemon swings his tail as it extends and glows green toward Michael's Shelgon.
"Dodge and Dragonbreath!" Michael countered seriously.
Shelgon soon jumped to the side in order to dodge the Dragon Tail, he then fired his Dragonbreath attack at Turtonator. The attack sends Turtonator skidding backward a few feet in the process before showing the tired expression on the face.
"Turtonator!" Kiawe called out to his partner.
"Dragon Rush!" Michael shouted.
Soon Shelgon began to run and made himself rolling with intense dragon-like energy surrounding him at the same time.
"Turtonator, Shell Trap! Hurry!" Kiawe shouted seriously.
The Blast Turtle pokemon struggled to turn around and made his shell face against the incoming attack from Shelgon as it created a large explosion in the process.
Soon the explosion faded away before showing both Shelgon and Turtonator standing far another but Turtonator collapsed straight to the ground in responding.
"The winner is Michael and Shelgon!" Mizuki shouts as the referee making the decision.
"You and Shelgon weren't bad," Kiawe said after returning Turtonator back to his Pokeball.
"It was nothing," Michael responded.
"Though I'm surprised that you didn't use a Z-move." Kiawe added. Though Michael and Shelgon were good at preventing them from using Z move through the whole battle.
"Not that I need to rely on them for every battle to make my pokemon stronger." Michael answered after returning his pokemon back to his pokeball as well. Sure, the power of Z-move is amazing but Michael still preferred training his pokemon hard in his own way. It helped him determine how far they are than before.
"Kiawe, do you ever considered of getting any more pokemon in the future?" he inquired curiously.
He knows that Kiawe has Charizard and Turtonator, though Kiawe used Turtonator for most of his battles and Z-moves with. He is a bit curious if Kiawe ever considered getting more pokemon due to being one of the top students in the school.
"Not that I will see the need yet unless I want them on my team." Kiawe respond.
Michael decided that he won't be bothered by it since it mostly Kiawe's own choice as they head back to their classroom.
On the way back, Michael spotted other students who get out of the way and shown some wary expression toward the redhead.
Michael didn't doubt what the parents of the student being a bit concerned with his own lifestyle as he was not like them. After all, life of Orre native trainer and being from an alternative world of pokemon would make an outcast to everyone else. It's probably a week since he battles Mizuki's little brother Yosuke. He may got a little carried away in his battle by saying those things.
But then again, the adults will not have any reasons to go after me unless I did anything out of normal standard…Michael thought to himself. The only thing he been doing was training his pokemon especially getting Magnus used to battle, researching other islands of Alola, his part-time job at Snorlax Pancake, and going to school.
The last thing he wants to do is end up like those dropout Skull grunts who are considered failure.
(Next day)
Michael and his classmates are seen walking through the woods together as they were on their way to Ten Carat Hill.
"I can't wait to find out what this treasure that lies in Ten Carat Hill is." Mizuki said smiled.
"It must be really valuable," Suiren said.
Is there really such valuable treasure at this place? Michael thought skeptically. He never actually went to that place as he never has a reason before to go there.
The redhead thought back to how they got the idea of coming here. There have been a rumor spread across the school about some amazing treasure lies in Ten Carat Hill. The rumor seems to interested Mizuki and others as they want to go to Ten Carat Hill to find it. The only reason that he come along was that Lillie invited him. He decides to make sure nothing went wrong even if Kiawe and Mizuki are around. But if there is something interesting in Ten Carat Hill, it might not be bad to ignore the place. But only if the rumor wasn't a lie.
"I'm surprised that you never come here, Michael." RotomDex said. He is certain that Michael probably explored everywhere in the Melemele Island by now.
"I didn't see any reason for coming here especially when I have a part-time job to focus on." Michael stated to the confused RotomDex.
"Though I'm curious on how will we know if we really find the treasure," Lillie said confused, holding Shiron in her arms.
"Well… others say that it really valuable then we should see it for ourselves." Mao said.
"I don't like this. Ten Carat Hill is full of caves… and we might not get through the large boulders." Mamane said with concern. Not that he is afraid of the dark due to having his Togedemaru to provided light.
"Don't worry, Mamane. I will have Turtonator to break them down without any issue." Kiawe assured with a confident expression.
It wasn't that long until the classmates reach the cave entrance at the end of the forest.
"This is where Ten Carat Hill would be." Mao said.
Lillie looks at the inside of the cave entrance and noticed that there was a bit of light near the entrance, but it was darker further inside of the cave.
"It so dark in there…" Lillie said nervously.
"Well, that is why I always have Togedemaru with me." Mamane replied smiling as his pokemon giving off a glow.
"Michael… will we encountered any wild pokemon in the cave?" Mizuki asked to the redhead.
"Well… we might need to be careful as some pokemon are sensitive to bright light and they might attack." Michael informed calmly.
"We also should stay together so we won't get ends up bumping into any wild pokemon by accident" Kiawe added.
It wasn't long until Michael and his classmates went through the cave entrance and entering the Ten Carat Hill. But none of them were aware that bunch of eyes was watching them enter the cave from the top of the woods as the students aren't aware of what surprise that awaits for them.
(Few minutes later)
The group made their way through the cavern tunnel and entering a large grassy field with hills everywhere in the process.
"Whoa… it almost felt like a pokemon league field here that I saw on TV." Mizuki remarked surprised at the structure of the Ten Carat Hill.
"Really? It looks like that?" Mao asked shock. Mizuki nodded.
"Those are certain strong-looking Pinsir over there…" Kiawe commented at the herd of Pinsir having a club fight on their own. "What do you think, Michael?" he asked.
"…" Michael didn't answer as he looking at the trees.
"Michael, is there something matter?" Kiawe asked.
"It's nothing." Michael responds calmly. "As for Pinsir, they're not bad." Though they do have the potential for Mega evolution, Michael didn't see the need for Pinsir.
"So where did you supposed the treasure could be?" Mamane asked, looking around the place. "It could be anywhere."
"Nothing seems out of ordinary here…" Lillie said as she and Shiron looking over a pond.
"Nothing over here." Mizuki said as her head popped out of the bushes.
"It must be something so important that cannot be taken from this place." Suiren pointed out. That is probably the reason why others didn't bring back the so-called treasure.
Mao has a confused look upon her face after hearing that.
"But there is nothing around here that seem important." Mao said, slight depressed.
The students of Pokemon School continued on looking for what the treasure could be. But they couldn't find anything that akin to important value. They soon stop to take a break before they tried to decide on what they were going to do before they heard movements from the trees.
"What was that…?" Lillie asked, somewhat nervous. Not to mention that she looks really scared as well.
It wasn't long until a large swarm of Flying-type pokemon came out of the trees and began making a beeline straight towards them. What kind of pokemon do you want to know? Varies of bird-like pokemon that can be seen on Melemele Island.
"AAAHHH!" Lillie screamed as she turned around and running with Shiron in her arms.
"Ruuunnn!" Mamane said as he tried around and ran.
The others including RotomDex took off running as fast as they could behind their friends.
"This reminds me of that Spearow incident in Kanto a few years ago!" Mizuki shouts with a panic expression. She doesn't want to end up being brutally pecked by bird pokemon especially Spearow.
"This is just great!" Mao exclaimed as they continued to run. "We've only been here for a few hours, and we're already getting into trouble!"
"We need to make it out of the exit!" Kiawe shouts serious.
Michael looked behind the pokemon. There were so many flying pokemon behind them. Michael didn't need to count as he know there are far too many of them. Most of them are faster than others. He could have his pokemon stopped them but it was too risky even for him to call out of his pokemon due to how many flying types there are.
The students of Pokemon School tried to make their way back to the exit that they came from originally. The thought of getting out of there soon become hopeless but there was more flying type went in front of them.
"We need to get other way now!" Kiawe shouted as he and others turned around while running away from the Flying types.
"But where?" Mao asked frankly. "They're gaining up on us!"
"Over there!" Suiren shouts after seeing another cave was hidden by the trees. "They won't follow us in a place that is so dark!" Though she is slight worried if her idea might be wrong.
"That is probably the best option we have for now!" Michael shouted as the group tried to make their way into the cavern.
As they entered the cave, the flying pokemon seem to stop their pursued as the students of Pokemon School hurried deep into the cave to make sure loss them.
On the way inside the tunnel, Togedemaru's cheeks glow.
"I think that we lost them, bzzt!" RotomDex said, not sense any flying pokemon tried to target them.
This alone made the students finally stop as they tried to catch their breath after what they just went through recently.
"Lillie, are you alright?" Mizuki asked.
Michael turned to looks at Lillie who is tried to catch her breath while her legs were shaking after the encountered with the flying pokemon. There is no doubt about that Lillie must be scared of what happened, but was able to run due to concern for Shiron's safety.
"I-I will be fine…" Lillie said nervously. "Do you think that… they're still waiting out there?" she asked, worried about those flying pokemon from early.
"There is no doubt about it." Michael stated stoic. "But for now, we're safe from them." He added.
"What in the world is their deal?" Mao questioned with a huff. "We didn't do anything wrong to them and they chased us!"
"I don't know as they didn't say anything why." RotomDex responds with a deadpanned expression.
"What should we do?" Mamane asked nervously. "If-If we go back out there… they'll no doubt come back at us."
"The only thing we can do is walking through the cave." Kiawe spoked up to others, "we might find another way out of this tunnel so we can avoid them."
"But the tunnel looks deep…" Suiren commented with a worried expression. "Who knows if we're going to find our way out…?"
Mao nodded in agreement with Suiren's logical. She is a bit worried about what will happens if her father noticed that she didn't came back?
"Michael, what do you think?" Lillie asked for redhead's opinion.
"I don't mind. It's a lot better than being outside with those flying types around." Michael shrugged as he doesn't see any other options for them here.
"I'm sure that we can find our way out." Mizuki said, showing a confident expression. If Michael says that they can find a way out, she wants to believe in that as well.
"Before we go any further, we should least go into formation," Michael interjected to others.
"Formation? What for?" Mao asked, confused.
"So we don't get separated if wild pokemon tried to attack us." Kiawe explained with a serious expression. It's true that his pokemon can handle anything, but it also better that others didn't get separated from the group in the cave.
"Okay. How do we do this?" Mizuki asked curious.
Michael soon released Espeon out of his Pokeball who looking around the new surroundings, "I will take care of things in the front with Espeon."
"Make sense. I will take care of things in the back with Turtonator if anyone tried to attack us from back." Kiawe said. Not to mention that Michael has an advantage with pokemon who can move faster.
"Also I would like Suiren to be in the front as well." Michael added, making the blue-haired girl looks surprised.
"M-Me…?" Suiren asked. Especially the fact that Michael chooses her to walk beside him is what made her surprised.
RotomDex soon got in front of Michael and explains. "That makes sense since most cave pokemons are rock and ground types. They're mostly weak against water."
"That makes sense…" Suiren said.
"Wait, what about us?" Mao asked shock.
"I guess that means me, Mao, Lillie, and Mamane stay in the middle," Mizuki answered.
"That makes sense since Togedemaru maintains the light," Lillie said. Not to mention that she is the same as well due to Shiron still a baby pokemon.
"I guess that is fine as long as no one gets close to us." Mamane said, slight nervous.
It wasn't long until the group started moving once again as they looking for their way out of the cavern in Ten Carat Hill.
It has been nearly an hour since they exploring through the cavern in Ten Carat Hill, they still didn't find anywhere out of the tunnel.
Though there were few pokemon that come challenged them, they weren't much trouble due to the formation that Michael set up for the group to protect themselves. Not to mention that they also stop for a brief snack break due to Mizuki being the one who brought snacks that she made in case everyone else got hungry in the process.
"Are we there yet?" Mamane asked, looking tired from walking.
"No."
It wasn't long until they find themselves in a fork of two caves in front of them.
"Which way do you think we go?" Lillie asked with a worried tone.
"I hope that we didn't end up deep in the cave and never come back like those in the movies," Suiren said with a concerned expression.
"Don't scared us like that, Suiren." Mao said.
(Michael, I felt a gentle breeze coming up this direction.) Espeon reported calmly as his tail pointed to one direction.
"Espeon says that he senses a breeze coming from that direction," Michael informed to others.
Sure, they find what looks like an exit out of the long tunnel and got out to see the entire view of Ten Carat Hill and the sky while the sun is about to set. But that wasn't just the only thing surprise them as far from where they are was a pedestal made of stone. The pedestal is somewhat about their height but there is a bluish Z-crystal attached to it.
"A Z-crystal?" Mizuki asked surprised.
"Not just any… but the Flyium-Z crystal!" Kiawe recognized the design on the Z-crystal. He remembered seeing the picture of it with other Z-crystals in Professor Kukui's collection.
"I thought there was only one trial for Z-crystal on Melemele Islands." Michael said confused, "Why is that?" he asked, confused.
"What you say is true, Michael. But I heard there are some Z-crystals are hiding so well to make Island Challengers to find them on their own." Lillie explains. Though she can't help feeling it a bit too easy for them to discover the pedestal for the Flyium-Z crystal.
"Only a few people on the island known to possessed the Flyium-Z crystal." Kiawe added, approaching the pedestal.
"Wait, Kiawe!" Lillie shouts as she felt something off with the place.
Suddenly a powerful gust comes across the area from behind the pedestal as Michael and others were being forced backward. The only one who seems to stand his ground was Kiawe himself.
Flew into the cave was none other than a giant bird-like pokemon— a Toucannon. But this one is far larger than the one Mizuki and Michael saw before.
"Toucannon!" Mizuki and Mao exclaimed in shock at the appearance.
The Cannon Pokemon soon received a familiar aura around it.
"The size of that Toucannon is unreal! It has to be a Totem Pokemon!" RotomDex said, starting to snaps some shots of the large bird pokemon.
"It's hard to believe that Toucannon is a Totem Pokemon…" Mamane said, looking rather nervous at the large Totem pokemon.
Michael remains neutral as he noticed that Kiawe didn't back out from the Totem Pokemon.
But Kiawe didn't seem to be afraid of the Totem Pokemon and summoned his Charizard from his pokeball. "…you'll come, it make sense that there are guardians protecting the hidden Z-crystals." Kiawe said, grinning. He also didn't mind the challenge of coming with obtaining the Flyium-Z move since it could also work with his Charizard.
Kiawe's Charizard gave a blazing glare at the totem pokemon and let out a loud roar that could be heard everywhere in sight.
"Hey don't count me out…" Michael said before stepping forward with his Espeon. There is no way that he will excused the chance of obtaining another Z-crystal especially one for Flying-type move.
Soon the Totem Pokemon let out a cry into the air.
It wasn't long until four Oricorio comes to the Totem Pokemon's side and they vary in different colors such as yellow, red, blue, and pink.
"Oricorio, but I never saw so many in colors!" Mao exclaimed in shock.
"Those are all four styles of Oricorio!" Lillie gasped in shock.
"Unreal! They're Baile Style, Pom-Pom Style, Pa'u Style, and Sensu Style!" RotomDex gasped as the living Pokedex gathering information and snapshots of them from vary angle. "Though they're all Flying-type, however, each style are different. Baile is a Fire type. Pom-Pom is Electric-type. Pa'u is Psychic-type. Sensu is Ghost-Type!"
(This will be a challenge… but against all four of them might be difficult.) Espeon remarked at the four different styles of Oricorio presence.
Michael won't deny that this will be a bit challenging. But he nonetheless likes the odd against him as it giving him more challenge.
"I guess it might be fair for us to even-odd a bit." Michael said before called out Magnus. The scarly pokemon gives his best growl at the four bird pokemons.
"Kiawe, I trust you with the Totem Pokemon." Michael answered serious.
"You better make sure none of them went passed you." Kiawe said smirk.
"Of course." The redhead said before looking at the four varies of Oricorio. 'Espeon, Quick Attack! Magnus, Rock Slide!' he mentally commanded to them.
Espeon soon move quickly but Pom-Pom of Oricorio used Mirror Move to mimicked Espeon's movement and countered the Quick attack.
Magnus slammed his front legs down to the ground as multiple white rings of energy appear above and around him. Then, several large gray boulders come out of the ripples of energy and coming toward the Oricorio.
However, the Oricorio seems to be able to dodge them with incredible speed and goes into their own dance moves.
"Michael, be careful! That's Revelation Dance!" Mizuki shouts.
"Protect now!" Michael shouts as both Magnus and Espeon materialized out their green shield to block the incoming attacks in the process.
After the smoke vanished, Michael noticed all four Oricorio were glowing light blue barrier before the Pom-Pom style started dances and creates waves of pink mist that spread across the field to Espeon and Magnus.
"That's Teeter Dance, get out of the way!" Michael shouted.
It wasn't long until the two become confused and dizzied in the process.
"Oh no, they're confused!" Lillie said.
Michael soon hurried to his backpack and got out what looks like a yellow toy flute. It's a good thing that he got this at a cheaper discount and comes in handy when it comes to a situation like this. He puts it close to his mouth and started playing it now.
"Charizard, Flamethrower!" Ordered Kiawe as he made the first move.
Charizard took a deep breath before releasing powerful flame from his jaw at the Totem Bird Pokemon.
Toucannon's non-black beak heats up and glows orange. It then opens its beak and released an orange beam of energy to counter the Flamethrower.
"That is Beak Blast!" RotomDex exclaimed in shock.
Soon Toucannon took off high into the air and it indicated the battle is taken into the air above them.
"Go after it!" Kiawe said as Charizard took off into the air after their opponent in the sky.
Soon Toucannon's beak glows before firing powerful Rock Blast at Charizard who coming after it.
"Dodged and used Aerial Ace!" Kiawe shouts serious.
Charizard flew around the incoming stones in an incredible speed with white streak around his body toward Toucannon and land a blow.
But it was not enough to take down the Totem Cannon Pokemon as it retaliated with a powerful Rock Blast that sent Charizard backward in the process.
Though Charizard has some bruises, however, he showed determination to keep himself in the battle against the Totem Pokemon.
"Charizard, Slash now!" Kiawe shouted.
Charizard's claws glow and enlarged as he comes flying toward the Totem Pokemon but the Totem Cannon Pokemon soon began to multiply itself. It didn't stop Charizard from cutting down the one in front of him and finds out that wasn't the real one.
"Raa?"
This made Kiawe looks cold at the predicament before thought up the next plan.
"Charizard, Flamethrower to get rid of them!" he shouts serious.
Charizard soon snapped out of confusion and blew away all of the copies, but the real Totem Cannon Pokemon was nowhere in sight.
"Looked up there!" Mizuki shouts as she and others saw the real Toucannon coming down at Charizard with red hot flame.
"That is Sky Attack!" Lillie shouts shock. Even Michael who looks briefly from his own battle with the Oricorio, looking shocked.
"Charizard, get out of the way!" Kiawe shouted.
But Charizard wasn't able to get out of the way when it smacks hard on him and Charizard is falling straight down to the field.
"Charizard!" Kiawe shouted in shock after watching him falling in the process.
Kiawe hurries to the pedestal where the Flyium Z crystal while Totem Toucannon watching the events unfold. Kiawe knows what he doing might not work but his own Z crystal won't help his Charizard in the situation like this. But seeing Charizard falling reminded Kiawe of distant memory when his grandfather was giving him a flying lesson.
"Kiawe, what are you doing?" Mao asked, confused.
Kiawe snatched the Flyium-Z crystal from the place. Even though the idea that he has in mind might be risky but there are no other options for them.
"You can't use the Z-crystal unless you passed the trial!" Lillie shouts.
But Kiawe didn't listen to Lillie's protest, he placed the Z crystal on his Z-Ring and began to do his moves.
"Time to get back up, Charizard…!" Kiawe said as the Z-crystal started to glow, "My full-body… full-spirited… full power! All of that Z… Become the burning wind that flies across the fields of Akala!" he shouts defiantly in front of everyone.
Soon the power of Z-crystal transferred straight to Charizard, who opened his eyes, spreading his wings and before flying into the air once again. But this time, Charizard is moving higher into the sky as this caused others to gasp in shock of the sudden change.
Totem Toucannon tried to fire Beak Blast at Charizard, only for the strong winds surrounding Charizard to intensify as they diver the attack away from Charizard.
"T-That is unbelievable!" RotomDex said.
"No way…" Suiren and Mizuki gasped.
So that what it looks like… Michael thought slight fascinated.
"Toucannon, take our new Z-move… Supersonic Skystrike!" Kiawe shouted the true name of the Flyium-Z move into the air.
Charizard soon descended back from clouded and collided with the Toucannon as a large explosion occurred. Mizuki had to hold onto her hat while Lillie had to hold down her skirt due to the explosion in the air. Everyone else experienced a very powerful fissure from the impact that Charizard has caused.
Both Charizard and Totem Toucannon fall straight to the ground. Despite both of them have bruises, Charizard glaring at the Totem pokemon who coughed heavily.
The Totem Toucannon soon fell unconscious in the process while Charizard let out a roar of victory into the air.
"RAAA!"
"Good work!" Kiawe comes over to his Charizard's side and placing his hand on Charizard's head before rubbing his head.
(He is certain impressive.) Espeon remarked to his human brother.
"Jan! Jan!" Magnus nodded in agreement about Charizard being amazing.
Michael didn't say anything after Magnus and Espeon defeated the four Oricorio together. He walks to the pedestal and looks around it before picked up a second Flyium-Z crystal for himself. 'If Mizuki ever wants a Flyium-Z, she'll need to get more training before facing against Toucannon...' He mentally added.
But he also realized that even when they find a way out of the long tunnel, it technically not an exit that they were looking. And that the sky getting dark to an indication that they been in there for nearly longer that they should be.
"Hey guys, look at the sunset!" Mizuki's voice shout snapped Michael out of his monologue as he and others turned to see the sun.
They all saw the sun began to set down over the horizon, but making Ten Carat Hill look more glorious than before due to the sunset.
This made most of the group look awe at Ten Carat Hill with awe and surprised expression. They never would guess that the sunset would make the place more amazing than before.
"It's so beautiful…" Mao gasp in surprise.
"I never would guess that Ten Carat Hill will look amazing from this view," Kiawe remarked while looking at the Flyium-Z crystal in his hand.
"Me too." Mamane said, trying to take a picture with his camera.
"You know… the irreplaceable treasure of Ten Carat Hill might be this. Something that can't be taken from this place." Suiren said after realized that the real treasure was this lovely scenery.
"Yeah, that is why we having the trouble finding it." Mizuki agreed with the bluenette.
In an unknown cavern that different from Michael and others were originally, there seem to be shown of struggle in there.
In the cave was a young boy who is holding onto an unusual pokemon who wears some kind of helmet but the entire appearance is still in the dark of the cavern. However, the boy's appearance wasn't. The boy's skin color was pale. VERY pale. He had light blonde hair that was styled into emo cut with his hair covering the left side of his face including his bright green eye on that side. As for his clothes, they were torn up jumper and jeans were both black.
"Please calm down. It's just a nightmare." The young boy said, holding onto the pokemon as if he knows by the experience of what this unusual pokemon is feeling right now.
It wasn't long until the boy feels that the pokemon is no longer struggle against him and hearing the sound of a whimper in respond.
"Umbre?" Coming to the boy's side was a sleekly, black pokemon with red eyes.
"I will be fine." The young boy replied, calmly.
To be continued…
AN: That is the end of this chapter. Here is my substituted for the filter episode about Mamane's moving which I think doesn't do much for plot and replace with visiting Ten Carat Hill especially introduced the Flyium-Z crystal early. But with its own Totem pokemon as well. Though it might be a bit sad that Mizuki didn't join the Trial fight, but I decide to have Michael and Kiawe fight together here for the first time. Anyway, be sure to review or message me for any questions, comments, or concern. And don't be afraid to look at my other stories.
