"Jack's Diner"
Happy early Halloween everyone! Please enjoy and review!
Mayor Corey walked with Davey, Veemon, Shaggy and Scooby through the town which was a beautiful place filled with many friendly people.
Davey loved the atmosphere and wondered if she could talk her family into living here.
She was sure that even Cherry would love this place since there were also plenty of cats that wandered around, mostly ones with black fur.
The mayor brought them to a small family diner that felt warm and cozy inside which made the group smile as they took in the sights and the delicious aroma of various foods.
"This place looks great." Davey smiled.
"And everything smells yummy." Veemon added.
Shaggy and Scooby breathed in the scents and sighed in contentment, both of them in full agreement with the werecat and dragon.
Smiling at that, Mayor Corey then pointed over to where a large male with a balding head, dark eyes and a large smile dressed in a waiter's uniform was located.
"Jack's gonna take good care of you lot. You're gonna love his cooking." Mayor Corey told them.
"Like, I'm sure we will, your honour." Shaggy smiled.
"Enjoy your stay in Oak Haven." Mayor Corey said as he made his way out the door.
"Thanks, your dudeness." Shaggy waved after him.
Scooby then set his sights on a man who had been handed a large steak to eat and the canine began drooling at the sight.
Rushing over to the man, Scooby was staring down at the food and began to drool over him.
Confused when he felt something wet hit him, the man gasped at the sight of the hungry dog and frowned as he moved his plate away, to protect it, but Scooby followed after him.
"Scooby, you knock that off right now!" Davey scolded.
Marching over to the dog, Davey grabbed him by the collar and pulled him away making the man relax.
Jack laughed as he walked over to where Davey, Scooby, Shaggy and Veemon were all standing.
"Well, boys and girl, are you hungry?" Jack asked and placed a hand on Shaggy's shoulder.
"Always." Veemon stated.
"Man, are we ever." Shaggy said.
"Come over here to the back. I always have a table open for VIPs." Jack told them and gestured for them to follow.
"Groovy!" Shaggy exclaimed.
Scooby was trying to sneak a bite of the man's steak once again, but Davey saw it and yanked him back.
"Come on, guys." Shaggy said as he grabbed Davey's arm and hauled her and Scooby off.
They were lead to a booth and as they sat down, some patrons were staring at them, stunned at the sight of the large dog and Digimon who were being seated.
"You're Mr. Ravencroft's guests, so, order up anything on the menu. I've got a nice juicy ham bone for your dog. What do you think?" Jack asked.
"Bones? Yuck!" Scooby stuck his tongue out.
"Since when do you not like bones?" Veemon frowned.
"He probably wants a proper meal and not a snack." Davey shrugged.
"Scooby's allergic to bones. We'll have whatever that great smell is." Shaggy told Jack.
Leaning over, Jack began pointing out the various items on the menu that were most popular with his customers.
"Well, that's our Yankee pot roast, New England clam chowder, maple baked ham and beans, roast turkey with chestnut stuffing and apple cinnamon pie." Jack exclaimed.
He spoke with such enthusiasm as he listed the foods and it caused Scooby, Shaggy and Veemon to all jaw their jaws wide open and wetted their lips in anticipation of the meal.
As for Davey, she had to keep her tail and ears from popping out in excitement at the description of the food and eagerly wondered which one she should try.
She wasn't able to stop her eyes from glowing a rich honey gold color.
"Sounds great! Like, give us four orders of everything!" Shaggy ordered and wrapped an arm around Scooby.
"Wait, what?" Davey's eyes grew wide and they returned to her usual chocolate brown color.
"I'll eat what you can't finish." Veemon told her.
Jack simply laughed at the group as he turned and began to make his way towards the kitchen to get started on the order.
"Oh, I love people who love to eat!"Jack exclaimed.
Scooby, Shaggy and Veemon all grabbed their napkins and tied them over their necks to act as bibs before grabbing their utensils, looking very eager for their meal.
Unable to stop it from happening, Davey's black furry cat ears popped out and they folded downward, displaying her mood for this situation.
"Wow, I feel really bad for Ben right now. He's gonna have a stroke when he gets his bill." Davey commented.
Turning their attention onto Davey, the hippy and his dog were stunned to see her with cat ears.
The last time they had seen her looking like that was a year ago.
The first time they saw it they were scared and worried considering the frightening situation they were in, but now, they couldn't help but think the werecat looked adorable.
"Yeah, but Jack is gonna be pleased. He'll be raking in the cash because of us." Veemon smirked.
"He'll also be slaving away for hours cooking the food and washing the dishes." Davey glared.
"Like, don't worry so much about it, Davey. I'm sure he has some people helping him out." Shaggy waved off her worries.
Sighing at this, Davey simply sat back and waited until the first round came in.
Much to her surprise, the first round of food was quiet tame.
Scooby, Shaggy and Veemon ate it quickly, but seemed to really enjoy it.
But, soon afterward, the trio were completely savage as they tore into their food like ravenous wolves that hadn't eaten in days.
The patrons were all staring in horror and a woman actually placed her hands over her face, gasping in fear at the sight.
Davey had already eaten her fill and felt like she was slowly dying from how stuffed her stomach was.
Also, she was wishing she could turn into an actually cat and slink off somewhere to hide.
Not once had Davey ever seen Veemon eat like this, but, it seemed like being around Scooby and Shaggy encouraged him to lose control of himself and go completely over board in his gluttony.
They barely seemed to have swallowed what was already in their moths before shoving more food in.
A disgruntled Jack walked out of the kitchen holding a tray with turkey and stuffing.
He set them town on the table which made the trio pause in their attack to stare down at the food, wondering what to eat next.
With food still in their mouths, the trio attacked the turkey, biting into it and Davey slunk down in her seat, hiding her face in her hands.
"I've never seen anything like this? Are you at least tasting my food?" Jack asked.
The trio stopped their eating and turned to look at him with their cheeks filled like chipmunks.
"I did. It was so good it almost killed me." Davey smiled politely up at the man.
"Like, it's the best food I ever had." Shaggy smiled dreamily as she forcefully swallowed what was in his mouth.
Scooby and Veemon did the same and smiled up at the cook.
"The tastiest!" Veemon chirped.
"Relicious!" Scooby licked his lips.
Spotting a bowl of chilli on the table, Scooby picked it up and began slurping it all down.
"Aw, gross, Scooby! You are so getting a bath after this!" Davey scolded.
Ignoring the werecat, Scooby finished off the entire bowl and lifted it away to reveal the ladel sitting on his head like a hat while his snouth was covered in chilli.
A man from the next table over was staring at the dog in horror at the sight.
When Scooby slowly smiled to reveal the red liquid dripping down his snout and into his teeth, the man's eyes bulged out and he began groaning in disgust.
Slapping a hand over his mouth to hold back the vomit, the man quickly stood from his seat and ran over to the cash register to place his paid bill down.
Daphne, Velma and Fred walked into the restaurant at that moment and were almost ran over by the man who made a mad dash for home.
Confused by what was going on, the trio searched for their friends and were disgusted to see Shaggy, Scooby and Veemon filling their faces while Davey was hiding hers which was red from mortification.
The group walked over and Daphne placed her hands on her hips and as she looked at the gluttonous trio in disbelief.
"So, how's the food?" Daphne asked sarcastically.
"Pretty darn good." Shaggy said as he wiped his mouth.
"Is there anything left in the kitchen?" Velma asked in amusement.
Jack then walked out from the kitchen wearing a coat.
"I'll be right back, backs. I've gotta make a run to the market." Jack informed as he made his way out of the restaurant.
"Does that answer your question?" Davey looked up at her cousin and friends.
"It's getting dark, guys. Let's go see if that ghost is gonna make an appearance." Fred suggested.
Exclaiming in fear, Shaggy and Scooby looked between each other.
"Like, we'd love to, but we haven't had our dessert yet." Shaggy said.
"I think I'll stick around and see if Jack wants any help cleaning up. It's the least I can do since these three put him through this." Davey glared at the trio.
Daphne smiled and patted her cousin on the head.
"That sounds like a great idea. But after you finish, meet us at the puritan village." Daphne told them.
"Ben's already gone ahead." Velma said.
Getting up from her seat, Davey began gathering up dishes and started carrying them into the kitchen so she could help out with the cleaning.
"Great! Like, if the ghost gets there first, just start screaming without us." Shaggy called.
Seeing that Shaggy was holding a turkey wing in his hands, Scooby tried to sneakily eat it on him, but the hippy was fast to pull it away.
"Hey!" Shaggy glared and Scooby gave an innocent grin.
To be continued…
