Alrighty, this chapter marks the end of season one, and I must say, I'm pretty happy that we've all made it this far with the story. Not only because it means that you all are enjoying it, but because the meat of the series comes in after season one. More dinosaurs, more character development, more… everything. But we all know that the dinosaurs and characters are what's important here.
But I hope you all enjoy this chapter, and I will see you once again at the bottom.

Darius and Ben could be heard grunting as they struggled to hold onto each other, with Darius laying prone in the monorail car, and Ben flailing about as he hangs from his lifeline, which just so happens to be Darius's arm.
"Hang on!" Darius yelled to the teen holding onto him.
"Help!" Ben called back to him urgently in between grunts and gasps.

The two pteranodons called out as they tried to get through the door leading into the car where the other campers were, but Cass had other plans as he rushed forward and managed to slam and hold the first door closed, but he knew it wouldn't last long because he could already feel the dinosaurs slamming their massive beaks into the door, almost like they were trying to puncture holes through it.
"A little help?" Cass called out to the others, but they were too panic-stricken to respond, or even move for that matter. "Fucking great…" Cass grumbled to himself as he stood up and closed the second door, meaning he was sandwiched between the first and second door. And with a deep breath and a sigh, he threw the first door open and rushed into the car with the two pteranodons, trying to get them away from the doors. "Come at me, you ugly fucks." He taunted the two dinosaurs as they let out their screeches and prowled towards him.

"Hold on, Ben!" Darius yelled out as their grip on each other was slipping. And bit by bit, his grip on the teen's wrist slipped away until there was nothing in his hands. But with some quick reflexes, Darius was able to grab onto Ben's arm once more, but this time with both hands.

'Okay, so just treat their beaks like giant knives, dodge them, and don't get fucking stabbed.' Cass thought to himself as he sidestepped one of the dinosaurs before smacking the second beak away with an open palm. He kept dodging their attempts to skewer him with the occasional shove or palm strike to the beak thrown in. 'I hope they've gotten Ben back into the monorail safely, because-' Cass's thought was interrupted as he had to duck under a pteranodon as it dove at him. '-fighting dinosaurs isn't exactly a specialty of mine, or anyone's for that matter.'

Darius started panting with a sense of relief at his ability to catch Ben and said boy was panting as well as he lightly smiled towards him in gratitude. But that moment was short-lived as another pteranodon flew past them and landed on the monorail car and looked down at the boys, as a second pteranodon flew into Ben, knocking him loose from Darius's grasp. Ben let out a yep as he started to once more slip from the younger boy's grip. And Darius let out grunts in his effort to pull Ben back up.

"Okay, I'm gonna have to ask you to get the hell off my damn monorail." Cass simultaneously spoke to himself and the dinosaurs as he grabbed one by the beak and kicked it in its chest, causing it to be launched out of the car. The second one let out a screech towards the young man as it started to try and stab him with its beak. Cass suddenly had an idea as he noticed that most of the pteranodons jabs were aimed towards his legs and feet. "So you wanna play that game? Alrighty then." He said to himself as he waited until the dinosaur's beak made contact with the floor, and once it did, he raised his leg and slammed his foot as hard as he could down onto its beak, cracking it and injuring the beast.
The pteranodon shook its head and let out a screech of pain before it flew off. Deciding that the man before it wasn't worth receiving all the pain he caused. Cass watched it fly off before taking some deep breaths to settle his rapidly beating heart. 'Now to get back to the others.' He thought to himself as he made his way back to the first car.

Ben let out a scream as he finally slipped from Darius's grasp, and Darius and the other present campers could only watch in horror as Ben began to fall as the two pteranodons flew down and chased after the falling teen.
Some of the campers let out whimpers, while others couldn't even bring themselves to make a noise as they realized what just happened. Kenji fell to his knees in defeat as Bumpy walked towards the edge and groaned out for Ben.
"He's gone. He's… gone." Yasmina said as she took a step back.
"I won't believe it!" Sammy yelled out with a whimper as she tried to run to the edge of the monorail and look.
"Sammy." That was all Yaz said as she grabbed onto the distraught girl.
"No!" Sammy wailed out as she began sobbing, covering her face with her hands.
* door sliding *
Every camper's attention was brought to the sound and sight of the door being slid open, revealing Cass to be the one who did it. The tallest camper stepped into the car and was about to say something but was immediately hugged by Sammy, as she sobbed into his chest. Yasmina walked over to him and grabbed onto his left sleeve and just leaned her head against his arm.
Cass's eyes slightly widened at the sudden contact from the girls and instantly figured out that something was wrong. He wrapped his right arm around Sammy in an attempt to bring some comfort to her as he scanned the room for each camper, but he soon found out what was wrong. He couldn't find Ben among them, and with the thick air of hopelessness that he stepped into, he knew that Ben had fallen.
Taking a glance at the broken window before shifting his gaze over to his partner in the group leadership. "What's the plan, Darius?" Cass asked in a more quiet and gentle tone.
Said boy could only look down at his hand, the hand that he failed to save Ben with, and clinch it into a fist. He looked up out the now shattered window and saw the tracks, but there was something wrong.
"We're going back." Darius whispered to himself before shouting out. "The monorail's going back!" But suddenly the brakes screeched as the monorail took a sharp turn right, jolting him and the others in the group.
"What do you mean, "going back"?" Brooklynn asked the slightly younger teen.
"When we switched tracks, we ended up on one headed north." Darius explained as he rushed towards the control console. "We're not going to the south docks, we're going away from them!" He yelled back at them as he spammed random buttons and knobs on the control panel. "Doesn't anything here work?" Darius yelled in frustration as he slammed his fist onto the controls. "We gotta get off this monorail now!" He shouted as he turned back to them.
"I agree." Cass said in a more serious tone, "We're wasting time the longer we're on this thing. And the only way off is to jump." He said as he had gotten Sammy to stop crying and let go of him, and the same with Yasmina, but both girls were hesitant to let go of the calming warmth his presence exuded.
Brooklynn rushed to the broken window and looked ahead towards the tracks, in an attempt to find an opening. "Oh! T-The track dips down up ahead! We can jump there!" She called out.
"What? Are you two crazy?" Kenji yelled out to them.
"Jump?" Sammy yelled out as well.
"We can't! It's too far to jump!" Yasmina yelled out in an attempt to reason with them.
"It's the only way!" Darius told them.
"It's either we take the chance with the jump, or we never even get close to the damn ferry." Cass told them with a small narrowing of his eyes.
With the three realizing they don't have much of a choice, they lined up at the giant opening alongside Cass, Brooklynn, and Darius.
Darius took a deep breath. "One…" He started the countdown.
Sammy lets out whimpers as Cass and Yasmina pop their necks and roll their shoulders.
Darius continued. "Two…"
Kenji put on Ben's fanny pack that he had left on the monorail as he grabbed ahold of Bumpy.
"Three! Now!" Darius called out as they all jumped out of the moving monorail car. The younger campers were letting out screams as they fell, falling through trees and tall plants before finally making contact with the earth, bouncing off the ground as they tumbled and rolled down the hill they landed at. They all grunted at the repeated rough contact with the ground, and somewhere in his fall, Kenji had let go of Bumpy.
Kenji had slammed into a tree, Yasmina was also thrown into a tree, Darius rolled into a tree and Brooklynn rolled into him, and finally, Cass rolled into a tree and Sammy slammed into him.
'If one more girl lands on or under me, I swear to God.' Cass thought to himself with a grunt.
"Oh…" Darius groaned out as he got Brooklynn off of him. "Is everyone all right?" He asked as the other four campers walked over to them.
"We are alive and functioning. I wouldn't exactly use the term "all right"." Cass said as he stretched his arms and back.
Brooklynn sat up with a groan as she scratched the side of her head. "Ish. Are you?" She asked him.
"Bumpy. Where's Bumpy?" Kenji shouted. "I lost her when I hit the ground. She's gotta be here. Bumpy? Bumpy!"
Brooklynn ran up to the boy and shushed him. "There are still dinosaurs out here, including Toro and-"
"Bumpy! Bumpy!" Kenji once more shouted as he ignored the girl.
"We gotta look for her, don't we? And Ben! He might still be-" Sammy started.
"How? We don't even know where they are!" Yasmina shouted at her.
"Attention. All park-goers must report to the south ferry dock for immediate evacuation. Last ferry departs in 60 minutes." The automated evacuation warning voice said.
"No chance we could get there in an hour! It's way too far!" Yasmina shouted.
"Not if we leave right now!" Brooklynn yelled back.
"But Bumpy, and Ben…!" Sammy said.
"We can't go back for Ben! Ben's… gone." Brooklynn shouted but turned into a quieter tone.
Everyone just stared at Brooklynn before just trailing off and looking elsewhere as they all get very quiet.
"She's right." Cass said. "If want any chance of going back home, we need to leave immediately. And no matter how much we want to, or how bad it hurts, we can't go back for Ben."
"Cass is right. There's just not enough time…" Darius said. "We can make it to the ferry, but only if we go now." He explained to them.
Everyone beside himself and Cass looked unsure or stood around idle. Kenji even grabbed onto the fanny pack that he had on.
"Last ferry departs in 60 minutes." The announcement said.
Darius just let out a sigh as he looked down at his hands. Cass walked over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder, giving the youngest teen a nod. "We have to go!" He shouted to the group as he ran towards the docks, soon the others followed him, being in the order of Darius, Yasmina, Sammy, Brooklynn, and finally Kenji.

ROXIE AND DAVE
"Repeat! Roxie and I saw you on the monorail, we're headed to the docks to meet you." Dave shouted into the radio as he tried to contact the campers.
* static crackles *
"Darius, do you copy?" He shouted.
* static crackles *
"Cass? Big guy, are you there?" Dave yelled into the device.
* static crackles *
"If you can hear me, just get to the boats, okay? Don't stop, just keep going. Just keep going!" The worried man called out into the radio.
* static crackles *
"They're gonna be okay, Dave. They have to be." Roxie told her co-counselor as she looked over at him before returning her focus to the road. 'Please be okay…' She thought to herself.

BACK WITH THE GROUP
"Keep going! Come on!" Darius shouted at those of the group that was behind him. They had all been running for about 15 minutes already, sprinting as fast as they could, but Cass suddenly slid to a stop. Causing all the others to slow down and stop as well.
"Why did you stop? We have to keep going!" Darius yelled at him.
"I've been doing the math in my head the moment we started running, if we keep running at our current pace, not including the chance of difficult terrain, we'll be late to the ferry by at least 20 minutes." Cass explained to him and the others. "We need a new way to get to the docks. Something that's faster and is as close to a straight shot that we can get."
The female campers glanced at each other and towards the two that were leading their escape, with worry in their eyes.
Darius paced back and forth as he racked his brain for an idea. "The tunnels! Kenji!" Darius shouted out.
But Kenji was lost in thought due to the loss of both Ben and Bumpy.
"Kenji!" Darius shouted as he grabbed the older boy and shook him a little. "The maintenance tunnels. There has to be one that leads to the docks, right?"
Kenji just stared at him in silence.
"Kenji, right?" Darius called out to him once more.
Kenji just looked off in a random direction as he led the others to the nearest tunnel entrance.
* hatch rattling, beeps *
And with that, the hatch opened up for the campers to see and climb into. They all gathered around the hole and looked down into its depths before looking at each other. Cass gave them a nod as he climbed in and slid down the ladder until his feet made contact with the concrete below. Darius was the next one to go down the ladder, but not like Cass did, mostly because he wasn't confident in his ability to not fall and bust his ass, or worse, break something. Then it was Yasmina, Sammy, Brooklynn, and then Kenji.
"Alright, Kenji. You're up." Cass told the slightly younger teen.
Kenji gave him a hesitant nod before stepping forward. "This'll get us to the dock in half the time." He told them as he began running.
"You heard him, let's go." Darius said to the others as he began running after him.
"Go. I'll be right behind you." Cass told the girls. They wanted to say something to him, but couldn't find the words, so they all gave him an appreciative nod before following after the other two, with Cass following soon after.
"Are we sure "Mr. VIP" knows what he's doing?" Brooklynn shouted out.
"Kenji took me down here before. Just trust him. We'll be outta here in no… time." Darius tried to reassure the girl but they soon rounded a corner and saw a giant gate in front of them.
"Everything looks different with the lights all freaky like this, okay?" Kenji tried to make an excuse as he turned around and started running down a different tunnel. "This way!" He ran by himself until he came across another gate. "No!" Kenji shouted before running back to the group as he pants and stuttered as he looks for a way forward. Before deciding to run down another hall.
Darius nodded back at the group as he followed after Kenji, and the rest followed after him. Kenji eventually made a sharp left turn but came across yet another gate. "What? This wasn't here before!" Kenji exclaimed.
"Why are there so many security gates?" Yasmina yelled.
"Do I really need to answer that?" Cass casually asked the rhetorical question.
"The evacuation. The park must be locking down automatically!" Brooklynn shouted in realization.
"Oh, we have to go 'round!" Kenji complained with a huff. "This way!" He began running in a different direction with the others chasing after him. They eventually made it around another corner and yet once again, a gate was in their way. "Ah!" Kenji grunted in frustration as he grabbed the bars before moving over to a door and trying to force it open but failed.
The girls plus Cass started searching the lockers that were adjacent to the door to try and find anything. Eventually, Brooklynn found one of the park's shock prods and took it out. "Oh! We can use this for-" Brooklynn started.
But Kenji cut her off by snatching the prod from her as he turns it on and slams it into the door. He did nothing except electrocute himself and fall to the floor.
Brooklynn walked over and picked up the shock prod and turned it off. "-Protecting ourselves." She concluded as she tossed it to Cass. The young adult caught the weapon and just gave her a nod of appreciation and understanding as he gave the prod a single twirl in his hand.
Kenji slowly got up from the group as he looked at them. Darius placed his hand on the boy's shoulder, but he just shrugged it off. "I'm fine!" Kenji walked off with the others following after him, seeing as how he's their navigator in these tunnels. But once again, they ran into a giant security gate. Kenji just slammed his fists on the bars as he grew hopeless.
"Unbelievable." Brooklynn said as she placed her hands on her hips.
"Kenji!" Yasmina said through gritted teeth as she was getting annoyed at the situation.
"You said you-" Sammy was gonna say something but was cut off by the intercom.
"Attention. All park-goers must report to the south ferry dock for immediate evacuation. Last ferry departs in 30 minutes."
"Not helping!" Kenji shouted to the automated voice.
"Just try to remember. Breathe-" Darius tried to say.
"What do you think I'm doing? Coming down here was your idea, Darius! So just back off!" Kenji finally snaps at the younger teen from all the pressure that he's under at the moment.
"Uh, Kenji? Darius? The way we came from… where does that tunnel end?" Sammy asked with a bit of fear in her voice.
Kenji was the one to respond. "It opens back up into the park, I guess. Why do you-"
* snarl *
Now that caught the campers' attention, as they looked down the hall they saw a flickering red light showing the shadow of a dinosaur from around the corner. The dino kept letting out its call of snarls as Kenji whimpered and Brooklynn began panting in fear as the whole group started to back up.

AT THE SOUTH FERRY DOCK
There was indistinct chatter among the hundreds of people that were on the dock and trying to load up into the last ferry, as the second one had just taken off a few moments ago.
"Okay, that's it, everybody, there we go! Keep movin'! This way!" A park evacuations officer (I kinda just pulled that name out of my ass) called out to the crowd of people as he waved them in the direction of the remaining ferry.
Roxie and Dave had arrived at the dock not too long ago and stood next to the officer as they tried to see if any of their campers' got on board.
"There were seven teenagers. You're sure you didn't see them?" Roxie asks the man.
"What? No, I didn't notice seven kids in the middle of the thousands of people here!" He said to her before going back to directing the crowd. "Right this way, sir. Keep moving, sir, thank you." He turned back toward the two camp counselors. "You know, we're kind of in the middle of an emergency evacuation!"
"Yeah, picked up on that. Where's Claire Dearing?" Dave asked him after recovering from a facepalm.
"Who?" The officer shouted.
"Perfect! Rox, come on. We gotta go back and look for 'em." Dave said as he waved the woman in the direction of the park.
"No, no, no, absolutely not. You are being evacuated." The officer rushed in front of the two and halted their progression.
"Are you gonna stop us?" Roxie asks him.
"Yes, ma'am. I am. That's my job. Now, you can stay here to search, but the last ferry departs in 25 minutes and you need to be on it." The man says to them.
"And if we refuse?" Roxie asks.
"Then so help me, you'll be physically placed on that boat." The officer states as he grabs a nearby stun prod and points it to the counselors in an attempt to intimidate them onto the boat.
Dave and Roxie hold up their hands as a show of surrender, you know, so they don't get tased.
"And what if we refuse politely?" Dave says to the man as Roxie looks at him like he's stupid.

BACK TO THE GATED LABYRINTH
* snarling *
The red light began to flicker once more as it illuminated the dark halls of the tunnel and the dinosaur began to walk forward based on the movement of its shadow. The younger campers all began to back up and hide behind Cass, not only was he the biggest of them all but because he was the one with the stun prod. So you know… makes sense.
Cass let out a sigh as he readied the weapon in his hands to defend himself and his fellow campers. And what came rushing from around the corner, was none other than… a Compy.
Darius and the others let out sighs of relief. "It's just a Compy." Darius says.
"And, uh… not alone." Yasmina pointed out as a group of Compies formed in front of them, letting out snarls and hisses.
"We need to go. In a group, Compies can-" Darius started.
"Not really the time for a lesson, dino-nerd!" Kenji exclaimed at him.
"Why not? It's not like you've gotten us anywhere close to the dock, Mr. VIP!" Brooklynn jabbed at him.
"Oh! Yeah, I'm sorry. Don't you have some sort of "unboxing being a brat all the time" video to be shooting?" Kenji shot back.
Brooklynn could only let out a scoff to his retort.
Sammy stepped between them. "Hey! Calm yourselves! You're scaring the itty-bitty Compy family."
"Scaring the"-? Are you for real? After everything, you're defending the dinosaurs?" Kenji asked.
"It's not her fault you got us lost!" Brooklynn yelled at him.
Yasmina let out a scoff. "It's definitely her fault for some of this." She said as she lightly glared at Sammy.
"Let it go, Yaz! It's just a phone!" Brooklynn said to her.
"Wait, what? I don't even know what's going on anymore." Yaz said as she shook and held her head in confusion.
Throughout that entire argument, Cass was smacking away the Compies with the stun prod, and occasionally catching them and tossing them back when they jumped up at him. "So I'm not the only one…" Cass grumbled to himself as he kept defending the group from the small dinosaurs.
"Guys! Just stop-" Darius was saying.
* roaring *
Everyone including the Compies became quiet at the sounds of the roar that echoed through the tunnel.
* rumbling *
* rumbling *
* rumbling *
And coming around the corner with a deep growl, was none other than Toro, and the carnotaurus stopped at the end of the hall, with the red light making it look more intimidating. The Compies shrieked as they all ran away from the large carnivore.
"Toro." Was all Darius said in shock.
Said dinosaur let out another roar as it stomped forward.
"Run!" Cass yelled to the others as they turn around and begin sprinting for their lives.
"Now you know which way to go?" Brooklynn yelled at Kenji.
"You wanna stop and ask him for directions?" He shouted back, talking about Toro.
"Just run!" Darius shouted at the two as the group took a sharp right which caused Toro to fall over just as it went to take a bite out of the teens, but got up and chased after them again.
Eventually, the group ran into another gate but managed to move out of the way and run back just as the carno slammed into it. The campers' kept running through the tunnels, taking turn after turn to get away from the dinosaur, but it always managed to keep up with them.
Toro rounded the corner that it saw its prey go around but saw nothing. It let out a roar of frustration and continued through the tunnels in hope of finding its prey once more.
"We can't stay here! The ferry—" Sammy whispered out to the others.
Darius shushes the girl as he didn't want Toro to find them. He and all the others are currently hiding in the ventilation system. The order that they had gotten in and hid was Yasmina, Sammy, Darius, Kenji, Brooklynn, and then Cass.
"You know… it'd be great if one of you found an exit already." Cass whispered out to the group of smaller teens. The campers' looked over at him and immediately understood what he meant. It was wide enough for them to all sit comfortably, but for someone of Cass's size, it was a bit of a tighter squeeze so he was basically blocking up the way that they came from.
Yasmina and Darius gave him a nod in understanding and moved further into the vent as they found a grille that didn't have a red light on the other side, so they assumed that it led to a place that wasn't on lockdown, possibly the outside. The two began to press on it but soon realized that doing so wouldn't provide any results. They looked at each other before deciding that they'd have to kick it down. Darius and Yasmina timed it so they would hit the hatch at the same time, what they weren't counting on was the loud echo that came from the contact of the kick.

Cass knew what making noise would mean, so he grabbed Brooklynn and moved her and the others deeper into the vent, and scooted a few feet away as well. He turned on the stun prod and readied it, just in time too, because Toro shoved his head into the vent and started to snarl and snap at the campers'.
The young campers let out screams of fright at the sudden appearance of the carnotaurus. Cass jabbed the carno in the nose with the prod, making it roar in pain as it pulled its head out of the vent.
"Whatever you guys are doing, you need to hurry up!" Cass called back to Yasmina and Darius.
"We're trying!" Darius yelled back as he and Yaz kept slamming their feet into the grille, having already gotten a huge dent into the metal as it was starting to come off the wall.
With another roar, Toro slammed his head into the ventilation system in hopes of trying to get one of the teenagers. But all it got was another shock to the snout.
And with one final kick, Yasmina and Darius blew the grille right off the vent and crawled out.
"Go, go, go!" Darius yelled as he called his fellow campers out of the vent.
Sammy, Kenji, and Sammy all crawled out, and with one last shock to the dinosaur, Cass followed after them. And once everyone was out and in the open they all took a moment to catch their breath before noticing a sign on the opposite wall. Cass, Kenji, Sammy, and Yasmina began to jog in the direction that it pointed.
"Where—" Darius was about to say until Brooklynn pat his shoulder and pointed toward the sign before jogging off to join the others.
"Exit to south dock, one thousand feet"?" Darius said out loud before running to join up with the others. He began to laugh which was soon joined by the laughter of his fellow campers, though Cass just narrowed his eyes at the bright light that was shining from the end of the tunnel.
'It shouldn't be this bright out, which means…' Cass thought as he led the group forward.
Finally, the group made it to the end of the tunnel and into the light. And what awaited them was a closed loading bay as they skid to a halt, no longer laughing or smiling.
"Damn it…" Cass quietly said to himself, but no one bothered to acknowledge it as they were too distraught at the moment.
"No! No, no, no, no!" Kenji called out as he ran toward the giant concrete wall before them with the other campers following soon after.
The younger teens all began to search around the giant wall to hopefully find a button or panel to open it up. Darius and Kenji were even moving some boxes in hopes of finding a hatch in the ground. Cass found a sledgehammer inside one of the crates.
"Now this is more my style." Cass said to himself as he grabbed it and tested its weight in his hands. 'Perfect.' He turned towards Yasmina and called out her name as he tossed the stun prod to her.
Yasmina caught the weapon before noticing what was in his hands. "You're gonna use that?" She asked him incredulously. The two walk closer to each other so they can have their own conversation.
"Well… yeah? It's useful and I'm familiar with it." Cass told her honestly with a shrug of his shoulders.
"I'm kinda scared to ask why you're familiar with a sledgehammer." Yasmina said to him as she looked into his eyes.
Cass just gave her a smirk. "Then don't ask." He said with a chuckle at the end.
"There's gotta be a door or…" Kenji said as he ran up to the wall and felt it up, trying to find a secret handle or something.
"There's no way out." Brooklynn told them as she hopped back over to them. "They must've sealed it off after the park was finished."
"She's right." Cass said to them. "They sealed it off once they were done building everything. Though they were supposed to open it back up so they could bring in more materials sometime soon, I guess everything went to hell before they could." He explained to them.
"Ugh! Can't anyone associated with this place make just one good decision?" Yasmina complained.
"Wait. Cass, how do you know they were supposed to bring stuff through here?" Sammy asked the older camper. And that question caught everyone's attention as they turned and looked at the young adult.
"I…" Cass started.
* roar echoes *
"...will explain later." He says to them.
The young campers all let out their collective gasps as they all move to the furthest wall in the room, with Darius jumping down into the railway that was built into the middle of the room. He beat on the wall as he looked around.
"Darius, what do we do now?" Kenji asked the younger boy as he knelt at the head of the platform.
Darius looked up at him before looking down and away. "I don't know." He said in a quieter tone.
* roaring in the distance *
The campers once more let out gasps at the sound of the dinosaur coming their way.
Darius grabbed his head and shook it as if he was trying to think but couldn't get anywhere.
"But you always know." Sammy said to him.
"I don't know!" Darius shouted. "I don't know what to do. I didn't know what to do about Ben or Bumpy, or when the Indominus rex attacked." He said as all the others could only look down at him in worry and pity.
* Toro roars *
Darius whimpers out at the sound of the roar before getting up and banging on and feeling up the wall, slightly hyperventilating. "All I did was make bad choices and get into trouble and mess everything up." He said as he was on the verge of tears before turning and slamming his hands down on a metal rail cart. "You never should've trusted me. I should've just stayed home. I'm a dino-nerd who played a video game, and I'm no good at this."
"But you are." Kenji said. "Good at this. I mean, like, I'm sure you're fine at video games, too, not downplaying that,-" He rambled on but was taken out of it by Brooklynn lightly slapping him in the chest. "but… none of us would have known what to do, Darius. But because you didn't give up, we didn't give up either."
"What about Cass? He seems to know what he's doing." Darius dejectedly said back.
"It's not the same, Darius." The older teen said to him. "Sure, I might have been able to physically defend the group, but only against certain things, and for how long? I have… intermediate knowledge of the dinosaurs here, but not nearly as much as you do. I can't protect them from everything, Darius. That's why we need you. So that we actually know what we're going against."
"Mhm. You kept us goin', no matter what some of us have done." Sammy said to him.
"You made us feel like we were in this together." Yasmina said as she knelt next to Sammy. "So we are. We're a team. We're your team."
"Things fall apart. And that's okay because when that happens…" Brooklynn quoted as she looked down at Darius and waited for him to finish it.
"We pick up the pieces and we keep going." Darius said with a small smile on his face as he looked up to the others.
Kenji reached down and offered his hand to the young leader as everyone offered their smiles to him. Darius smiles a bit wider as he reaches up and grasps Kenji's hand and allows himself to be pulled back up to the others.
* Toro roars *
Brooklynn whispers to the group. "He's getting closer."
"Yeah, no shit." Cass whispered back sarcastically which got him a playful slap to the arm from Yasmina and Brooklynn.
"Let's see what's in these crates." Darius says in a serious tone of voice.
Darius and Yasmina went to open up a crate each but found nothing. Kenji went over and looked in his crate.
"Come on, something pointy! Come on, something hurty!" He said to himself as he pried the lid off the box and looked inside. "Come on… Ugh! Medical supplies?" Kenji questioned as the others walked over to look inside the box as well. Inside the were a dozen compressed air tanks, with dozens of rolls of bandages and tape.
"We had these around the house after my dad got sick." Darius says with a grunt as he picks up one of the tanks. "Super compressed air, sensitive to pressure and heat!" He says as he cracks the valve open a little to test the air before closing it again.
"Might be able to scare Toro off." Brooklynn said.
"Or distract him long enough for us to find another exit." Darius says as he puts the tank back in the crate before looking behind him and then back to the group. "Cass, Kenji, let's get this crate loaded on that cart. Sammy, Brooklynn, use those bandages and tape to make a fuse. We're gonna need something to light it with."
* electricity crackles *
Yasmina turned on the stun prod and showed that they'd be using that to light it, before turning it off.
* Toro roars *
The campers' gasped before they all decided that now would be the best time to set their plan into motion. And that's exactly what they did.
* rumbling *

Toro let out one of his deep snarls as he stomped his way through the tunnel and into the loading bay. He stepped up onto one of the side platforms and began to sniff around, looking for his lost prey.
"Light it up." Darius whispered to Yaz as all of them were hiding behind the crate.
Yasmina was holding the stun prods electrical current right onto the fuse, but it just wasn't lighting.
"Yaz?" Brooklynn asked in worry.
"I'm trying! It won't light!" Yasmina whispered.
"Wait! Hand sanitizer!" Kenji whispered as he reached into the fanny pack that he was wearing. He grabbed some and poured it onto the end of the fuse. "This stuff will burn!"
Yasmina tried to light it one more time, and it worked. Catching the end of the fuse ablaze.
"Thanks, Ben." Brooklynn said as she and the others stared down at the flame.
"Now!" Darius yelled out as he and his fellow campers shoved the cart in Toro's direction.
The carnotaurus let out a roar as it charged the incoming cart. The group backed up and took cover behind some of the metal boxes and some of the remaining crates.
"Come on, come on." Darius said hoping that it detonated soon.
But Toro had other plans as he slammed his head into the crate, shattering it and sending its contents all over the room. The campers had to duck to avoid some of the flaming debris that came from the shattered box, with the debris now igniting some of the other flammable boxes and materials around the room.
The group backed up and away from the dinosaur as they notice it standing back up and shaking its head before refocusing on them with a roar.
"Run!" Kenji shouts out.
"Where?" Brooklynn responds in kind.
"Anywhere!" Sammy says as she and the others all take off away from the beast. Toro let out another roar as he charged in the direction that the teens were going. Toro slammed into a shipping container that was right beside the teens, effectively cutting them off and forcing them to turn around and hide behind a steel box. But the carno wasn't having it as he spun and slammed his tail into it, sending the box flying away from them.
And now with their cover removed, the campers all split up and ran in their own directions to try and make it harder on the carnotaurus to catch them. Kenji stepped off of the platform just in time for Toro to miss a bite, he grunted from the fall but immediately started screaming as Toro leaned down and kept snapping its jaws at him. But thankfully Kenji rolled away from the dino and ran behind some more cover, he looked over it and noticed the big angry lizard was chasing someone else.
That someone else just so happened to be Brooklynn and Sammy. Toro charged at them and dove forward in an attempt to bite one of them, but Sammy dove off the platform, leaving Brooklynn up there as she dove in the opposite direction. Toro ended up on his back as he tried to turn over and snap at the girl beside him, Brooklynn whimpered in fear as she managed to run away from him just as the carno got back up on its feet.
Toro turned his sights and chased after her. And right as he was gonna take a bite at her, Cass's sledgehammer flew into the side of the carno's head, stunning him momentarily, but it was enough time for Cass to rush over and grab his hammer as well as help Yasmina get away from the dinosaur. Toro managed to shake his head free of the headache and ringing, and right as he was about to chase after the two, Darius chunked a piece of wood at his head to catch his attention, and it worked because Toro was now chasing him.
Cass and Yasmina ran along the tracks but Yaz's foot slipped causing her to drop the stun prod to the ground, and just as she was gonna fall, Sammy was just around the corner to catch her.
"Thanks." Yasmina tells her.
"Let's get moving you two." Cass tells them as he helps the two to where Kenji and Brooklynn are hiding.
Darius was dodging Toro's every bite by climbing onto crates or running around them, he stood up on the railing of the tracks and jumped down just in time to dodge the carno's bite, causing the dinosaur to get stuck on the railing. Darius fell to the tracks below and saw the stun prod laying on the ground, so he ran up and grabbed it as he ran toward the end of the tunnel. Toro soon got unstuck and chased after the boy once more.
Darius whimpered as he held up the prod and was backed into the wall by the approaching carnivore. Toro let out another roar as he dove for Darius but missed as the boy jumped out of the way.
"Darius!" Kenji called out as he reached down and offered his hand to grab.
Darius grabbed onto him and allowed himself to be pulled up just as Toro got back off the ground with a roar. But the carno knocked into one of the pressurized tanks, sending it toward a group of them and knocking the valve loose, making the volatile air escape. Kenji and Darius noticed this as Darius turned on the stun prod.
Toro let out another of his infamous roars as he chased after the teens over one of the dividers in the track. Cass was shielding Yasmina, Sammy, and Brooklynn while behind cover. Kenji soon rolled behind the cover and joined them. Darius turned around and aimed with the stun prod just as Toro roared out to him. The young leader threw the prod like a spear straight into the leaking gas tank, which in turn caused a huge fiery explosion to erupt from its location, completely smothering Toro in flames, luckily Darius was able to get behind cover just before that happened,
All the lights were shattered, resulting in the room becoming much darker than it was before. The coughs of the campers could be heard as they all tried to clear the smoke from their lungs. Cass was crouched next to Yaz and Brooklynn as he checked up on them, Kenji being the so-called tough guy of the group figured he didn't need to be checked on, and Sammy went over to Darius to check on him as Cass had already checked on her.
"Is everyone okay?" Darius asked as he tried to regain his lost breath.
"Uh, surprisingly, yeah." Brooklynn responded to him.
"Mhm. Everyone seems pretty alright." Cass agreed with her as he looked back at Darius.
"Whoo-hoo! We did it. We beat…" Kenji says lightly and out of breath.
* crumbling *
Brooklynn and Kenji let out gasps as all the others looked in the direction the sound came from. Suddenly Toro sprouted from the concrete rubble he was buried under and let out a roar. The campers let out their respective scream as they all stood up. But they all noticed that Toro was severely injured, with burns all over his body. The dino even let out whines of pain as it stood up and turned to the campers. They all got ready, just in case they had to fight it once more. With Darius and Cass standing at the front and the older teen tightening his grip on his sledgehammer.
Toro just stared and stared until he finally let out another whine and turned away from the group and began walking away.
"Yeah! That's what you get! Take that, Toro!" Darius celebrated. "That's how you do it!"
Toro stopped and let out one more roar before continuing to walk away. Whether it be a sign of defeat or a promise for revenge, they'll never know.
"Whoo-hoo!" Sammy cheered with a laugh.
"Yes!" Kenji yelled out as he, Brooklynn, Sammy, and Darius all cheered out. "I thought we were goners! Oh, that was scary!" He said as he lay down on the floor.
"Doesn't get better than that." Darius told him.
"Wanna bet?" Yasmina said to them as she and Cass stood next to each other. The older boy had his hammer slung over his shoulder with a smirk on his face. Yasmina thumbed in the direction of the giant concrete wall, and it showed that two big holes were made into it from the explosion.
Soon the group was out of the dark loading bay and into the open jungle as they sprinted through it all with their spirits high, well… except one. The campers finally broke past the tree line and made it to the dock and that's when all happiness was removed from their faces.
"They're gone." Darius says as he looks around for a boat. "They're all gone."
"They'll be back for us, won't they?" Sammy asked.
Cass and Darius shared a brief look between each other, and in that split second they knew they couldn't tell them the truth.
"Of course they will. And until then, we've got each other. Isn't that right, co-leader?" Darius said as he walked over and stood next to said person.
"Exactly. You guys aren't getting rid of me that easily." Cass said with a chuckle.
"Uh, hello? Mr. VIP here." Kenji cut in jokingly.
"Hey, don't forget "superstar"." Brooklynn said as well.
"Barf." Was the sole word that Yaz said as she put her arm on Sammy's shoulder and leaned on her.
They all looked out into the raising sun out across the vast ocean.

SOMEWHERE UNKNOWN
A lone baby ankylosaur is roaming one of the dirt paths of the island, almost like it's looking for something. Suddenly it takes off and runs up to a body. The little dino begins licking and sniffing one of the hands, almost like it knows the person. Then the body twitches… Ben's body twitches.

Oh sweet mother of fuck this took me so long to write and I honestly have no clue why. I'm gonna be busy for these next few days, seeing as how I have to look after a new kitten and prepare stuff for a birthday. But, once I get back, and I will be back, we'll start on season two. Though that might be a week or so from now… I don't know, we'll see.
But I hope you all liked this conclusion to season one, and that you all will be waiting for me to return with the beginning of the next season.
