Prologue

When the magic around the well finally faded, Kagome counted it as an end. It was the end to the days she spent fighting all sorts of monsters and atrocities that lurked so long ago in the past. It was the end, but ingraining that acknowledgment into her head was a different battle. Even now.

She stood in front of the practically ancient wooden well, blue eyes focused on the black depths that seemed to go on forever. The air of magic was no more. She felt nothing standing there, peering deep into the abyss of the well's opening. No portal to the past was to be found here. If she attempted to jump into it now, she'd only land foolishly at the bottom. She reached a hand out, letting nimble fingers graze the splintering wood of the lip of the well. Her caress was gentle, not wanting to accidentally get hurt on the fracturing wood. Well… even if she did get nicked by it, it didn't really matter. The injury would heal instantly, after all.

Her gaze softened as she tightened her grip on the lip of the well, her knuckles turning white as she embedded her neat nails into the soft wood. Her knees buckled, and she fell to the dusty floor. The dust that got kicked up by her dropping body settled back around her as she moved her other hand, letting it come up to her chest. She felt around for the pink bauble that lurked just beneath the collar of her shirt, and she gripped onto it tightly.

"What a problem."

Time travel was just such a burdensome problem. It was a burden that she'd never wanted to be thrust upon her shoulders, but, much like the jewel that had so unluckily fallen to be in her possession, she didn't have all that much of a choice, unfortunately. A familiar sting built up in her eyes, the well that was in front of her going blurry, and she squeezed them shut to do anything she could to keep the hot tears held back.

One problem after another. That's what meddling with time brought. No matter what you did, for any reason or desire, the past wasn't meant to be meddled with and altered. She hadn't had a choice, but she wished she had been given one. Now… the future she'd been returned to wasn't the one she'd come to know and love. She didn't remember what was missing, but she knew that things weren't what they'd once been. The repercussions of time meddling were unpredictable, and sometimes entirely random.

All these new memories burned her mind and gave her one headache right after another. She knew these memories as her own. Whenever she thought back to them, she never once felt like an outsider looking in at someone else's life, but… What was she supposed to do with that lacking feeling that lurked deep inside her chest? It never went away, but nothing ever made sense. She… she couldn't even form the words on her tongue to express how hollow it made her feel in her chest.

Old memories of an old life were missing. A life she wasn't meant to have. A life she was only given so she could fulfill the prophecy fate wove into her destiny and etched into her blood and bones. It was done and over with, that life was gone and a different one was where she'd been placed in the aftermath of a destructive battle waged five-hundred years into the past.

She could remember her friends made then, each and every one, but everything else about those days and before was just… gone. Everything on this side of the well was gone. As if it'd never been meant to be. …

Of course, it was, because it was never meant to be in any other reality.

Against her senses, she felt an aura that, internally, felt so familiar. So comforting and safe. Those feelings so easily overpowered the feeling of emptiness that had been consuming her mere seconds ago. She picked her head up, inky tresses slipping back over her shoulder and falling to rest against her back. He wasn't saying anything, but she could feel it in his aura- the confusion that plagued him. She was grateful that he wasn't questioning her, because she knew she wouldn't have the answers that she needed to say, the answers that would explain the hollow feeling burrowing deep within her chest. It'd jarred him, after all, her so suddenly asking to come to this otherwise uninhabited shrine. Every year, the shrine and the street below would be decked out for a large festival, but other than that, this place didn't get many visitors.

She pushed her tears back the best she could, but a few still managed to slip free. She lifted a hand to wipe them away as she forced herself back onto her feet. After a few more seconds, she finally turned to face her companion. Her eyes met a similar blue that was silently gauging her actions.

"So?" he tilted his head to the side as he finally said something. "What's the deal? Why'd you want to come here all of a sudden?"

Kagome paused before she could respond, the words getting lodged in her throat. Her expression softened and she downcast her gaze to her feet. "I…" she paused, clasping her hands together behind her back and squeezing tight as her knuckles bled white once again. What was she supposed to say…? "I… I dunno," she finally said something. "I just felt like I needed to come here," she continued, her tone going quiet, not that it hindered his hearing any. No matter how soft, her voice was still so audible in the otherwise vacant, tiny building that housed the ancient well. "Sorry for bringing it up out of the blue like that, Nii-san."

He shrugged and shook his head. "Tch… you're always one to have weird requests, so maybe I should've expected something like this at one point," he grumbled. He finally moved from where he leaned against the entrance of the building, coming closer and stalking down the creaky steps. Once he was right beside her, the faint scent of his cologne caught in her nose, and a small smile lifted her lips. It, just like everything about him, was so familiar and comforting. Just like that, the hollow feelings inside her were placated even more. He folded his arms and glared at the well, and Kagome glanced back at it.

Well… even without its magic, something about it still felt so unnerving, so she didn't blame his clear disdain for it. A smile appeared on her face as she turned on her heel. The action caused him to perk up, and he turned the following second, having no need to remain there any longer if she was done with the place.

"I know," she said, finally answering his prior statement as they stepped out into the mid-day sunshine. "I don't mean to, I just…" She couldn't help it. She couldn't help these odd feelings as they came and went seemingly at pure random intervals. She was the only one who seemed to feel as if things had once been different, and voicing those feelings was a beast of a battle. "I guess I'm a little weird," she finished with a faint laugh.

"Heh, only a little?" he retorted, and she glaced at him with a pout on her face. He held his gloved hands up, a smirk on his face. "Either way, I'll put up with it."

All her silly requests and strange desires, he'd put up with them. Never for others, but just her.

Before she could open her mouth to manage a retort, the sound of his phone ringing stole her attention. He reached into his pocket to retrieve it, his smirk vanishing from his face as he read the caller ID. Kagome tilted her head to the side as he turned on his heel.

"Give me a few minutes," he stated, and she nodded quietly as he made his way to the shrine steps. As he did, she turned her attention away from him, spinning on her heel as her gaze shifted to the large tree that resided in the middle of the shrine grounds. A familiar pang shot through her chest, and she silently made her way over to it.

Kagome came to halt in front of the tree, gazing up at the branches so far above her head. That faint sting returned to her eyes, and she lifted her hand to gently rest it against the rough bark. The mark in the center held her attention as she let her hand lightly glide down the tree's trunk.

What was she missing?

Among the hollowness within her chest also lurked frustration. She hated this feeling. She hated feeling like this. She knew…

"I know I should put it behind me but…" she mumbled quietly to herself, eventually silencing her own voice. She couldn't. All she could do was hope that, with enough time, this horrible feeling would fade. No matter the life she had before, there was no point in dwelling on it. It'd never return to her.

She pulled her hand away and turned around so her back was facing the tree. As she did, her gaze landed on the man a ways away, still talking on the phone.

Though they bore no biological connection, they were still brother and sister. They didn't share blood, but that didn't matter. Whenever she thought of family, he was the first person to surface in her mind. The only person to surface in her mind.

She remained where she was and silent as she stood there watching him. She couldn't hear what was being said from where she was, but she could gauge by his aura that there wasn't any reason for concern. After a few more minutes of standing like that, he finally hung up the phone and shoved it back in his pocket. He glanced around, looking for her, before he finally spotted her. Without saying a word or making a move to come closer, he held a hand up and beckoned her over with a flick of his hand. She complied and made her way over to him.

"Ready to go?" he asked, and she nodded.

"Yup! Ready when you are," she said as she began to follow him down the stone steps to the car that was parked at the bottom. As they trekked down the many steps, she glanced at him from the corner of her eye, watching as he brought a hand up and threaded his fingers through striking orange hair. The hat atop his head was tilted to the side at an angle, but he didn't bother to fix it.

Nakahara Chuuya, age twenty-two. Despite who he was and what he did, she knew she saw him in a different light than others who feared his name. To her, he was kind and so fiercely protective and loyal. He was family, and she cherished him.

Though she remained quiet as she walked down the steps with him, she didn't hesitate to let her hand reach out towards him. Gently, she curled her fingers in the sleeve of his coat he kept draped over his shoulders, holding it as if it kept her grounded. She might not say it, but, deep down, it felt that way.

She couldn't tell if he noticed her gentle grip on his coat, and she preferred it that way. She didn't want to explain herself.

They reached the bottom of the steps at last, and she reluctantly let her hand fall away from his coat, quietly curling her fingers around her other wrist.

"I'll drop you off at home," Chuuya commented, and she perked up at hearing his voice. "I've got a few things I need to take care of."

She nodded. She knew what that entailed to, but she never put too much thought into it. She'd rather not, after all. Kagome climbed into the passenger seat beside him, a bright smile plastered on her face. "Okay!

Auroua-chan: I'll end this one here.!

So this story is an x-over of Inuyasha, Tokyo Revengers, and Bungou Stray Dogs. We will be seeing more BSD characters than just Chuuya. Kagome isn't exactly a member of the Port Mafia, she's just a normal 15-year-old girl for the most part.

I'm personally really excited for this one, especially for some later chapters in particular.

Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you all for reading and I hope you all enjoyed! Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.

Please remember to Favorite&Follow&Review, thank you!

Bye for now~
