"Looking for Trouble"

Please enjoy and review!

Davey, Veemon, Shaggy, Scooby, Velma and Ben all walked back to the road where the cowardly duo, werecat and dragon had been attacked by the witch.

Shining a flashlight around, Velma then turned her attention onto the trees which had the tops cut in a perfect row.

That had caught her as odd when Daphne pointed it out and it made the brunette in orange wonder if something hiding behind the trees could have caused it.

"Hm. Let's take a look behind these trees." Velma said.

She led her group off the road, which was far too quiet, and into the wooded area.

"Hey, check that out!" Davey called as she pointed ahead of them.

Velma shined her flashlight to where Davey was pointing and was stunned to see large tire tracks in the dirt.

"What are all these tire tracks doing back here?" Velma wondered as she moved the flashlight around to show off the tracks.

"Strange. The road's back there." Ben commented as he pointed.

"Right. Let's see where these tracks lead." Velma said.

"I'm guessing it'll lead us to a barn." Veemon spoke up.

"Why a barn?" Davey questioned.

"What else around here would be big enough to hide something that makes tracks like that?" Veemon mused.

"Like, can't we follow 'em tomorrow? Like, after breakfast?" Shaggy whined as Scooby nodded his head in agreement.

When the duo saw that their friends were already following the tracks, they knew they had no choice but to go along or they would be left behind in the dark.

That was always when the monster showed up to attack them.

"I guess not." Shaggy gulped as he and Scooby chased after their friends.

Davey's eyes glowed gold, allowing her to see better in the darkness.

It was quiet, but she could detect the sound of crickets randomly chirping and leaves gently blowing in the wind.

The entire scene gave her horror movie vibes.

Suddenly, Velma stopped walking when she spotted something, causing everyone to bump into her since they had been too busy looking around them to notice.

Turning to look at the group, who were confused, she held up a finger to her lips and shushed them.

Then, she pointed over to an old barn just as an owl hooted.

Veemon was about to loudly gloat about being right when the barn door opened.

Davey was quick to slap her hand over Veemon's mouth as the group watched as Mayor Corey walked out of the barn, eyes narrowed as he seemed to be checking the area to make sure no one had seen him.

He closed the door and locked it before glancing around one final time to make sure the coast was clear for him to take off.

"Jinkies, it's the mayor!" Velma gasped quietly.

"What's he doing here?" Ben whispered.

"I don't know, but we're going to find out what's in that barn. Scooby, Shaggy, Davey and Veemon will follow the mayor." Velma decided.

"We will?" Shaggy asked in worry.

"All of us?" Davey asked sharing a look with Veemon.

"Fine. Then you search the barn and we'll follow the mayor." Velma told Shaggy.

That made Shaggy and Scooby stare at the creepy looking barn, contemplating the choice.

"Wouldn't it make more sense for less people follow the mayor? He might get suspicious if all four of us go." Davey suggested.

"I can stay here and help out Velma and Ben." Veemon suggested.

"It might be better to even out the group." Ben agreed.

"You're right." Velma nodded.

"On second thought, we'll take the mayor. He'll never know we're on his tail, eh, Scoob, Davey?" Shaggy smiled.

"Yeah." Scooby nodded.

Speaking of tail, Scooby began to feel a stinging pain in his.

Looking down, he saw that Shaggy was standing on his tail and he whimpered as he tried to pull it free.

Noticing, Shaggy lifted his foot.

"Oops! Sorry, Scoob." Shaggy apologized as the Great Dane held his red throbbing tail.

Sighing, Scooby shook off the ache.

"We'll meet back up in front of Mr. McKnight's shop. How does that sound?" Davey asked.

"Perfect. Let's go." Velma said as the group all split up.

Veemon chased after Velma and Ben as they made their way to the barn to find a way inside while Davey, Scooby and Shaggy took off to follow the mayor into town.

The werecat, hippy and dog quietly chased after the mayor as he left the wooded area and stepped out onto the quiet streets of Oak Haven.

The trio ducked behind buildings, lampposts and mail boxes to hide from the mayor in case he caught sight of them or became suspicious that he was being followed.

Mayor Corey did seem to sense that someone was behind him since he quickly whipped around to see who was there, but the trio had quickly hidden themselves.

Davey was up in a tree, hiding in the leaves while Scooby and Shaggy cowered behind a mail box.

Confused, the mayor walked off holding his chin, wondering if he had imagined that someone was following him.

Once he continued walking, Davey quietly jumped down from the tree while Shaggy groaned as he got up from his uncomfortable position with Scooby on his back.

Just as the trio started following the man, Davey heard Corey's footsteps change pace and realized that he was about to whip around the corner of the building he was rounding.

She quickly gestured to the tree and the cowardly duo were quick to duck behind it, moulding their bodies to match its shape while Davey jumped into the branches to hide once again.

While she did this, she made a meowing noise, making the mayor smile, believing it was a cat that he heard following him.

Satisfied that he wasn't being followed, Corey continued on his way.

Scooby and Shaggy lost their balance, swaying and falling to the ground.

(At the barn…)

Veemon and Ben watched as Velma struggled with the lock, trying to jiggle it free.

Ben was holding the flashlight, shining it on Velma so she could see the lock as she tried to find a way to undo it.

"You know, I could break it off, but that might make the mayor suspicious if he comes back to see the damage." Veemon brought up.

"It would probably be best to leave it as it is then." Ben told him.

"There's got to be another way in here." Velma said as she gave up with the lock.

The women then walked around the side of the barn, searching for a way to get inside.

"Maybe there's a window left open that we can climb in." Veemon suggested.

"If only we could get that lucky." Ben sighed.

Velma then peered around the side of the building and gestured for the males to follow her.

(With Daphne and Fred…)

"So, Freddy, why do you always pair us up?" Daphne asked.

They had been standing in the woods near the stage waiting for the Hex Girls to make their move for a while now.

Curious with the question Velma had teased Fred with earlier, Daphne decided to ask.

Fred seemed to get nervous and his cheeks flushed as he stared at the redhead.

"Um, well, I've thought about that for the longest time and there's never been a good time to tell you." Fred brought up.

Daphne smiled, eager that she was finally going to get a confession out of the blond.

Davey and Veemon both knew that there was something between Daphne and Fred the second they first saw the two friends together.

If two people who were new to the group were able to see the chemistry between them, then everyone else must as well.

Perhaps it was finally time they did something about the secret feelings they harboured for each other.

"Maybe it's time that I…well, that I…" Fred tried to say as Daphne leaned in close.

Just then, Fred was distracted by the sound of grass moving and looked over Daphne's shoulder to see the Hex Girls and Impmon were finally finished with their rehearsal.

"Hey, here they come!" Fred lowered his voice as he pointed down the path they were on.

Daphne startled back and glanced at the trio and their Digimon before she and Fred ducked into the bushes to hide.

"Man, am I tired." Impmon said as he gave a large yawn.

Thorn smiled sweetly down at her partner before she turned to address Dusk and Luna who were walking beside her.

"I think we're going to need to perform our ritual, girls." Thorn told her sisters.

"Not tonight, Thorn. My powers are weak from rehearsing." Dusk said.

"Mine, too. How about tomorrow just before the concert?" Luna suggested.

Thorn looked displeased by this, but understood that her friends were tired and they needed their rest.

"Never mind, I'll do it myself." Thorn told them.

"Aw, don't be too upset. Tell you what? Why don't we make it up to you by performing a little love spell on Davey for you." Dusk teased.

She had noticed how Thorn seemed to have quickly developed an attraction to the raspberry haired girl.

Hearing her cousin's name being mentioned made Daphne jerk up, wanting to rush out and confront the girls, but Fred quite a hold on her waist to keep her in place.

After what happened a year ago, Daphne would never allow anyone to hurt or use her beloved cousin again.

"Dusk! You know I don't believe in using magic for love. It's wrong and immoral." Thorn scolded as she fought off a blush.

Daphne relaxed when she heard Thorn say that.

Maybe the girls were just joking around since they saw the attraction between Thorn and Davey just as Daphne had.

Impmon then snickered.

"Besides, I'm pretty sure Davey already cast one of Thorn with how love struck she is." The imp joked.

Luna and Dusk giggled at that while Thorn glared down at Impmon, her cheeks burning in a blush.

Lifting her leg, Thorn gently kicked Impmon in the butt, making him yelp and pat the abused area.

"Geez, it was just a joke!" Impmon pouted.

"Just for that, you can make your own breakfast tomorrow. Anyway, see you in the morning. Bad dreams, sisters." Thorn said as she lifted her arms and wiggled her fingers at the girls.

"Bad dreams, Sister Thorn." Dusk and Luna said as they repeated the strange motion.

Laughing, the two girls turned and walked off in the opposite direction of Thorn, heading to their homes to sleep.

"I'm sure your dreams are going to be pretty nice with Davey in them." Impmon smirked.

"Okay, that's it!" Thorn growled.

She then started chasing after the imp as he snickered, loving how flustered he got his partner.

With the girls and Digimon now out of hearing range, Daphne and Fred slowly came out of their hiding spot.

"Did you hear that, Daph? Those girls have something to do with this ghost. I'm sure of it! Thorn seems like the leader. Let's follow her." Fred said.

"Are you sure you're not just stuck on Thorn, Freddy? I hope not since it sounds like Davey already has her heart." Daphne teased.

Fred gave her a frown, not appearing amused as he followed the redhead, chasing after the goth girl and her Digimon.

(At the barn…)

Just like Veemon has suggested, the trio found an opened window to climb through.

Sadly, it was high up and no one could reach it.

Ben was currently standing on top of a barrel as Velma stood on his shoulders, trying to reach for the window to climb inside.

Veemon had carefully climbed up onto Velma's shoulders, reaching for the window himself.

"I think I almost got it!" Veemon groaned as he stretched his arms out.

"Just a little higher." Velma told Ben as she helped Veemon up on her head.

How did Davey deal with carrying him around so much?

Ben groaned from the weight, but tried not to complain as he tried to stand up straighter and give the duo the height they needed.

"I can't!" Ben grunted.

He then felt a foot hit his head and realized that Velma was using it was leverage.

With the added boost, Veemon was able to reach the window and grabbed onto the sill, pulling himself up.

"I got it!" Veemon exclaimed.

"That's great!" Velma smiled.

"Wonderful!" Ben sighed in relief.

Letting go of the dragon, Velma carefully started to get down from Ben's shoulders as Veemon climbed in through the window.

"I'm in!" Veemon cheered.

He then yelped as he fell through the window.

Velma and Ben both winced at the sounds of Veemon landing on various objects, making noise and possibly a mess.

"Veemon, are you all right?" Velma called.

"I'm good! Lucky for me, I have a hard head." Veemon said.

Just then, the door on the side of the barn was unlocked and opened causing Velma and Ben to look over and see Veemon smiling at them.

"Ladies first." Veemon stepped aside.
