"How to Catch a Witch"

Please enjoy and review!

Later on that night, the duo of Miracles went with Ben, Velma and the cowardly duo to the stage where the Hex Girls would be meeting up with them.

Davey didn't know why Velma wanted the Hex Girls to join them for their plan, but the raspberry haired girl simply shrugged it off and went along with it.

The sooner everything worked out, the sooner she could go to bed.

Getting up onto the stage, Shaggy and Scooby uncovered the instruments (Dusk's drums and Luna's keyboard) and looked them over.

Straightening out his tail, Scooby started using it to play the cymbals in a catchy rhythm while Shaggy joined in on the keyboard.

They both smiled at each other as they played, finally able to relax and be at ease after the scares they had received that night.

Unknown to them, the Hex Girls and Impmon had arrived.

Thorn moved to stand beside Davey while Impmon was hanging onto her shoulders, not looking pleased at being woken up in the middle of the night.

Dusk was standing behind Scooby, hands on her hips as she glared at the dog for playing with her drums.

"Hey!" Dusk hissed.

Startled, Scooby stopped playing, looking at the scowling blonde with a frightened expression before he grabbed Dusk's drumsticks and handed them over to her.

"Rorry." He apologized before ducking under a blanket to hide.

"Like, why'd you stop, old buddy?" Shaggy asked as he finished his song, unaware of an annoyed Luna standing behind him.

He took notice when he felt her poking him in the back with her long black painted nail.

"No one touches my keyboard." Luna scolded him.

Chuckling nervously, Shaggy hid under the blanket with Scooby.

Davey sighed in disbelief at the boys while Thorn glanced over at her, mildly amused by how her friends easily scared the hippy and his dog.

Letting out a relieved breath, Shaggy shared a look with Scooby before they chuckled.

"Thanks for coming, girls." Velma said to them.

"You're not welcome." Impmon grumbled.

"We should all be home resting for the concert tomorrow. We only came because Ben asked us to." Thorn said as she gestured to the man.

"Hey, I'm just following orders." Ben defended.

This statement made the Hex Girls and Impmon all turn to frown at a grinning Velma.

"Well, what do you want?" Luna demanded.

Just then, the wind picked up, blowing the girls' and Ben's hair around.

The strange wind was sudden and quite forceful which caught everyone off guard as they braced against it.

"That's not good." Davey said as she narrowed her eyes which were now gold.

The blanket hiding Shaggy and Scooby was blown off of them.

Sensing that danger was near, Impmon became more alert and jumped off on Thorn's back, standing protectively in front of the Hex Girls.

Veemon was doing the same for Davey and Velma who were both staring up at the sky, waiting for what was coming next.

Cackling was heard as the witch flew up over the trees making the cowardly duo cry out in fear.

"What the heck is that?!" Impmon exclaimed.

Sailing down towards the group, the witch threw a fireball at them making the girls, the men, the Digimon and the dog all scatter.

The fireball hit the stage where the group had been standing, exploding.

"Hey! Throwing fireballs is my thing!" Impmon yelled, very irritated by what was going on.

Thorn was quick to scoop her Digimon into her arms and took off with their friends as they ran for cover.

"The town must pay for its foul deed!" The witch screeched.

Velma, Scooby, Shaggy, Davey and Veemon rushed off into the woods and the witch followed after them, throwing fireballs as she did so, making the hippy yelp as he was almost hit.

"When will this night end?!" Veemon complained.

Losing her balance as she ran, Velma tripped over her own feet and fell to the ground making her friends stop and gather around her.

"Help me! I've fallen and I can't get up!" Velma cried out.

Scooby and Shaggy were quick to wrap their arms around the brunette, carefully helping her off the ground.

"Here she comes!" Davey warned as she and Veemon stood protectively in front of their friends.

Shaggy and Scooby cried out in fear while Velma glanced over her shoulder, smirking.

"Now!" Velma yelled.

A tree branch then whacked the witch, sending her flying into a goal net that had been placed out.

The witch groaned in pain, sounding quite masculine.

"Yes!" Velma cheered.

Daphne and Fred poked their heads out from behind the bushes they had been hiding in, waiting for Velma's signal to spring the trap.

The group began making their way over to the witch, ready to unmask her/him.

"You did it, guys!" Velma exclaimed.

Knowing they were defeated, the witch kept their head tilted down, trying to hide their face as they groaned in pain from being whacked by a tree branch and hitting the metal goal net.

"Okay, let's see who's behind all this." Fred said reaching for the mask.

He grabbed the witch's hat and pulled, revealing that it was attacked to the wig and mask that all came off to reveal a familiar face that they had seen hours earlier when they first arrived in Oak Haven.

"Like, it's the t-shirt guy!" Shaggy pointed.

"Mr. McKnight! The pharmacist?" Daphne glanced around.

"But he seemed so nice!" Veemon frowned in confusion.

Ben then arrived with the Hex Girls, all three of them and Impmon appearing stunned as they stared at McKnight.

Thorn seemed the most shocked as she walked straight up to the man, bending over to get a proper look at his face.

"Daddy?" She gasped.

That one word had Davey revealing back in shock.

This man was Thorn's father and he was the witch who attacked them twice that night?

Then Davey remembered the confrontation with the witch at the warehouse.

She had punched Thorn's father in the face.

Lifting his head, McKnight gave a small smile up to his shocked daughter and the very disappointed looking Impmon who had his hands on his waist, his face screwed up in a frown.

"Hello, Sally." McKnight greeted sheepishly.

"Your dad's the ghost?" Luna exclaimed in shock.

"Your name's Sally?" Fred asked looking stunned.

Thorn's face crinkled into a frustrated expression at Fred's disbelief over her real name.

"THAT'S what you're focusing on?" Davey frowned at the blond male.

Fred simply shrugged at Davey while Daphne rolled her eyes.

"I don't believe this, Daddy. Why would you do something like this?" Thorn asked her father.

"You mean, you didn't know?" Daphne asked.

Thorn shook her head while Davey gave the Mystery Inc. group a smug expression.

She knew the Hex Girls were innocent.

"The girls have nothing to do with this." McKnight assured as he held his hand up.

"What in the world is going on this evening?" Mayor Corey complained.

The plump man made his way over to the group and stopped in front of McKnight who had his head bowed.

"Is that YOU, McKnight?" Mayor Corey gasped as he peered closely at him.

"His acting skills need work." Veemon muttered.

This made Impmon turn to look at him in surprise.

"Maybe I can explain. I found flash powder residue where Shag, Scoob, Veemon and Davey all saw the ghost." Velma spoke up.

She walked over to McKnight and lifted his right arm, the sleeve of his green dress falling to reveal the strange device with a red button attached to his wrist.

"This is a device to throw the fireballs which are just wads of flash paper. He got it from his daughter's stage props." Velma explained.

Feeling curious, Scooby looked over the device and pushed the button.

He yelped as the device released a fireball which landed over by the trees, revealing a vehicle which was hidden in the shadows.

"Like, what's that?" Shaggy asked.

Taking out her flashlight, Velma shined it over to the trees and smiled when she saw the familiar vehicle that she, Veemon and Ben had found earlier that night.

"It's the cherry picker that made the ghost fly above the trees with the use of an extension device." Velma said.

Shining her flashlight around, Velma then revealed a large fan that was hidden in the shadows.

"And there's the fan that created the eerie wind. It took more than one person to pull of this scam, isn't that right, Jack?" Velma called sounding amused.

Much to the shock of many people, Jack, the man from the diner, walked out from behind the trees, groaning as the flashlight shine in his eyes.

"WHAT?!" Veemon and Impmon exclaimed in shock.

Jack's was Impmon's favourite place to eat and the man had always been so friendly.

How could Jack and McKnight both come up with this scheme?

The mischievous Digimon was flabbergasted.

"Zoinks!" Shaggy gasped.

"It would take someone pretty strong to hoist Mr. McKnight around." Velma commented.

"Like, you should have been making pot roast instead of cooking up trouble." Shaggy scolded and wagged his finger in a startled Jack's face.

"That ghost were all of you!" Velma cupped her free hand around her mouth and yelled.

"All of you?!" Ben asked in shock.

With the scheme fully exposed the people that Davey, Shaggy and Scooby saw meeting with the mayor earlier stepped out from behind the trees.

"Sure! It's just like Davey was saying earlier. There had to be more people involved to make this hoax work." Velma said.

"Well, I for one am totally shocked by this deception!" Mayor Corey exclaimed.

"Oh, shut up! Do yourself a favour and get some proper acting lessons because you failed miserably." Davey glared.

"What?" Corey asked in surprise.

"Davey's right. You can stop the charade now, Mayor, because YOU'RE the one who made us suspicious from the beginning!" Velma pointed at him.

"I-I…" Mayor Corey tried to think of what to say.

"I'm very disappointed in you, mayor. And all of you for lining your pockets by dragging Sarah Ravencraft's name through the mud!" Ben glared.

The townspeople all bowed their heads in shame while Scooby clicked his tongue in disappointment.

Davey placed a comforting hand on Ben's shoulder and she could feel how his body was vibrating with suppressed rage.

For some reason, Davey felt like this night was far from over and that made her tense up.

Perhaps she was just being paranoid.

To be continued…
