I think as many of you noticed, I didn't end up getting around to writing Part 1 of Broken Skies. 75k words is a lot of work, and I don't really write fanfic anymore; I'm currently working on the third book of an original dragon trilogy, and I'm hoping to publish the first book sometime in the next year. After that, I have two more standalone books planned, and a potential longer series in the future that I've wanted to write for many years, but have worried I won't be able to do it justice. We'll see though, I tend to be a bit shy about sharing stuff, and I've still been struggling with mental health issues and college off and on over the past years, so my writing schedule has been a bit uncertain. It's possible I'll eventually come back to the Fallen Prince if I have time and energy, and there's a lot interest, but I doubt I will, and I almost certainly won't ever write the final 400k words of Broken Skies and Empty Nights. Unless Tui commissions me to write Wings of Fire fanfic that I can publish, which is extremely unlikely :p. Still gotta send her my print copy of Dark Seas at some point.
Someone asked me to write out the plot points for the rest of the series, since I'm probably not going to ever finish it. I thought that was a good idea, and even if I'm not going to write it, I want to share what I had planned to do and maybe give at least a little closure on the series. I'm posting it below, though be mindful that this is a very rough outline and subject to change. I wrote and planned much of the material over the 5 years I worked on the story (2016-2020, I started to write the original Stone Cold in 2016 and finished Rising Flames at the end of 2020), so parts of it aren't quite up to date with the current canon. Obvious spoilers for everything.
Broken Skies
Part 1
There is a chapter with Moonwatcher, Qibli, and Foeslayer where Moon mentions visions of the future, tells Qibli that she thinks she knows what she needs to do, and that from this point on, she needs to travel her journey alone. Qibli asks if this means goodbye, and she apologizes, and tells him to keep going. The earthquake happens and Moon goes down into the ravine, lowered by Foeslayer.
After Aurora uses the Eye of Amethyst, Pyrrhia is cracked open, and continues to grow, the sea draining out through it.
Midnight returns to Jade Mountain Academy, where she's attacked by Torrent. The two fight, but he's unable to kill her. The two realize (possibly through one of Toxin's visions) that Aurora is planning to challenge Queen Coral. Torrent gives Darkstalker's scroll to Midnight (preferring that she use it to her own animus magic).
With Queen Scarlet's army supporting her, Aurora goes to the drained Summer Palace and challenges Queen Coral. Queen Coral accepts the challenge, and Aurora immediately uses her magic to kill Queen Coral and become queen.
Midnight arrives at the Summer Palace, where she challenges Aurora. The two fight, and Midnight wins. She chooses to spare Aurora and immediately abdicates the throne to Auklet, knowing that Tsunami would refuse to be queen, Anemone is an animus, and not knowing of Rift and Aloe's daughter Coast.
A succession crisis begins. Blister's ghost convinces Aloe to support Coast's claim to the throne. Peace accords are attempted, but fail miserably.
Midnight brings Aurora to Torrent, and what's left of the family hesitantly makes up with each other.
A battle at the Summer Palace for the SeaWing throne ensues, called the Battle of the Six Heirs. Aloe and Rift's forces support Coast, while Auklet is supported by a large portion of the SeaWing army (along with Midnight, Aurora, Torrent, Turtle, and Peril). Anemone is supported by Tsunami, a smaller portion of the SeaWing army, the Talons of Peace, part of the RainWing-NightWing army led by Deathbringer and Queen Firefly, and part of Sunny's army.
During the battle, Torrent takes away the enchantment on Anemone, making her no longer an animus. Aloe's forces end up winning the battle, and the others retreat.
At this point, there may be a possible sideplot with Slate and Polar, and the MudWing Civil War (depending on how things have already been planned, since the goal for this is 75k words). Likely 1-2 chapters. May be placed somewhere else.
After gaining support from the SeaWing army, along with cunning strategies from Blister, Aloe attacks the SandWing palace again. Before the battle, Sunny challenges Aloe, who accepts. The two fight (Aloe without her protections), and Sunny ends up losing. Against Blister's advice, Aloe spares Sunny, saying there's been too much bloodshed already, and Blister's ghost is banished. Aloe becomes queen, but keeps Sunny under her council.
The SkyWings take advantage of the situation with the cracks in Pyrrhia to build bridges across the various pieces after the winds get too strong for non-SkyWings to cross the gaps. A possible sideplot may involve this and what's known as the War of the Broken Skies. Likely 1-2 chapters. May be placed somewhere else.
Under Aurora's advice, Turtle uses an animus enchantment to create a sphere of water around the Summer Palace, as the ocean has been drained. At some point in time, he uses his magic to become a spectral guardian of the Summer Palace and the remains of the Sea Kingdom.
Epilogue time. Deathbringer and Firefly probably have a funeral for Glory and coronation for Firefly because I like giving my characters pain.
Sunny epilogue. After this, Aloe keeps Sunny as a political prisoner/council member, where she eventually learns to trust Sunny. Realizing that uniting the SandWings and SeaWings permanently was going to be impossible (far apart, different areas of the world), she officially adopts Sunny and names her heir to the SandWing throne (but with the condition that Sunny be unable to challenge her), and decides her own daughter is unable to challenge her. There's some protest to this by traditionalists, but it dies off after Aloe shows the new Eye of Onyx is a fake by destroying it, and that there's no "rightful" queen anymore. Coast probably remains queen of the SeaWings.
Some sort of lighthearted chapter involving Torrent, Midnight, Aurora, and Ecru to wrap everything up and show that they're healing.
Coda. Aurora appears in Queen Scarlet's throne room and tears out Queen Scarlet's heart, as her daughter, Princess Amethyst (a darkstone animus), hides and watches. This will influence the future.
Part 2
Broken Skies (and a lot of the Fallen Prince) was inspired by a long-term roleplay I did on the Wings of Fire wiki (also called Broken Skies). You can search it up and see it in more detail there if you want. Broken Skies part 2 and 3 would basically be adapting that. A summary is given below, though there would be significant changes had I written it - for example, it would probably take place 100 years later as opposed to 1000, and a number of unimportant OCs in the roleplay would be removed. Parts of it no longer fit with the current Fallen Prince canon. In total, Broken Skies would reach about 200k words.
Soon after the Jade Mountain Prophecy was completed, Pyrrhia faced yet another great evil. This evil broke Pyrrhia into pieces, but before it could complete its plan, it was stopped. But this is not about then.
A thousand years later, the dragons of Pyrrhia are still recovering from their world being split. The SkyWings, being the only ones who can cross over the gaps due to the terrible winds, rule as the elite. The City of Possibility, home to the DustWings, is in isolation from the rest of the tribes. The MudWings have been split in two, both geographically and politically. And the ancient evil which decimated Pyrrhia a millennium earlier has started to tremor in its sleep.
All of you have been invited to Jade Mountain University, Jade Mountain Academy in the future, where it is now protected by all tribes for any dragon to learn in peace. It has grown much, but much of the original caves were blocked off during the Breaking, and the few which are still accessible dragons are not allowed access to, because they have been marked as holy sites by the Followers of the Dragonets. So, over the past millennium, a great university has been built on top of the mountain.
But even in this time of relative peace, not everything is alright. The SkyWing control starting to falter, and a group of rebels, a continuation of the Talons of Peace, plan to enact an uprising against the SkyWings. At the same time, a group of mostly pureblood NightWings, called the Nightborn, have gone about attempting to kill hybrids and separate the now almost fully interbred RainWings and NightWings.
Arid and Quartz are given invitations to Jade Mountain University, and meet Mire at the entrance. They found out that the SkyWings had threatened the University while he leads them to his father, President Cedar. They are assigned to the Bronze Dorm. Blizzard also joins them. A shadow of a dragon appears to be wandering around the dorm, but they can't catch it.
After a short tour around the University, they find the recently opened caves of the dragonets, they find a catatonic Stonemover, who was sleeping in there for the last thousand years. They also find Lilac, who is down there too, and she tells them to leave. Quartz stays behind in the caves, and finds what appears to be a hidden cave.
The group (joined by Sunseeker) goes back for Quartz, where they meet Lilac again. Arid and Mire go to find Quartz, while Blizzard distracts Lilac. Blizzard accidentally awakens Stonemover, but wanders off to be kidnapped by Gale. Lilac leads Stonemover into the secret cave.
The group finds the secret cave, but are found by Trench. He appears to be friendly, and leads them to Lilac. Trench lets loose that there is a prophecy Lilac foretold, while Blizzard argues with Gale. They then all meet up, and are told that they might be part of the prophecy.
Suddenly, the SkyWing army attacks, and the group all goes up to fight. They are led by the fireborn general, General Phoenix, who fights with Blizzard (and Shatter.) Trench is killed in the fight, and the University is burnt down. Rinkhal also arrives, and joins the fight. The bridges are burnt, and the group retreats into Darkstalker's Caves, which Gale tells them magically connects the mountain and the Rain Kingdom.
In the caves, which creepily glow and appear to be living, Rinkhal fights with the group. After the fight, a trench opens, and a giant fish attacks them. Gale with an enchanted compass tells them to go down into the trench after it is defeated. A crystal specter thing appears, and attacks. Quartz is able to defeat it, and they move on, out of the caves.
In the Rainforest, they are seen by the RainWings, and say they are survivors from Jade Mountain. The RainWing Queen, Queen Radiant, tells them that there is no way, it has been six months, and imprisons them. Rinkhal isn't captured, and frees the others. The Queen's feeling-senser tells her that they aren't lying, and she takes them to a pavilion, where they are kept, though they soon realize they are still being imprisoned.
A few weeks later, they learn that the Northern MudWings, the RainWings, and the SandWings have created a coalition against the SkyWings. The group escapes, and takes Stonemover's tunnel to the Sand Kingdom. On the way, Queen Radiant asks them to go to Possibility and ask the DustWings to join the war.
The group then goes into a crystal-lined cave to get to the Ice Kingdom. In there, Blizzard is possessed by a NightWing animus ghost, Gemcurser. Calamity offers Blizzard a deal, that she will free him and activate an enchanted item if he destroys Gemcurser. She does, but his body turns to dust and he seems to disappear.
They then go to Possibility, which they need to get through to get to the Sky Kingdom. After some trouble at the gate, they get in, but Possibility is attacked by the SkyWings, led by Phoenix again. Mid-battle, Calamity appears, and uses the Eye of Diamond to get rid of the Broken Skies curse, and cover Pyrrhia in snow. The battle ends with the SkyWings retreating to Aeolus. The group also flies towards Aeolus.
The group goes into Aeolus, and into the palace, where they find Queen Amethyst waiting for them. She reveals she is an animus, and uses her numerous charms to almost defeat the group. Calamity appears and tells them that her animus curse is fire, and use it against her to defeat, then kill her.
They are then surrounded by General Phoenix's army, who demands some of their deaths, but fight instead. Calamity forces Quartz to kill General Phoenix by threatening Blizzard. Quartz is somehow not hurt by Phoenix's firescales. They then head into a secret room behind the throne, and find a magical map room, where Amethyst can track certain dragons. Calamity says he wants to make up for what he did, and teleports them all into the Sea Kingdom, saving them.
Part 3
They meet the SeaWings, and befriend them. They are taken to Queen Tilapia, who tells them that Queen Snowdrift is arriving as a guest. Snowdrift arrives, but an attempt on her life is made, and the group tries to find out who. On the way, they find a SeaWing scientist named Lapis, who seemed to have made the assassin's weapon. Arid also finds the ghost of Turtle, who seems to be wandering the palace.
The group finds Cove, a member of the Talons of Peace, who knows the assassin, Ray, an Ex-Talon. They go to find him, but end up attacking Princess Conch. Tilapia frees them, and they go to the banquet to find it is poisoned, then save the dragons. Tilapia seems to have disappeared, and the princess stages a coup, imprisoning Snowdrift along with the group. In the cell, Ray appears, and says he has planted bombs all over the Sea Kingdom. Conch is going to kill Queen Snowdrift on his demands, but Cove goes in and tells them about a RainWing which knows where the bombs are.
Suddenly, the SkyWing army attacks, and the SeaWings are evacuated. Quartz goes and finds the Deep Palace with Turtle. The army, led by a General Phoenix, possessed by Ignite (Calamity's mate who was residing within Quartz,) and Calamity go and take a scroll from the princess leading to the Deep Palace. Calamity goes to the Deep Palace. Arid and Blizzard follow him, using stones that Turtle gave them giving them water-breathing.
Meanwhile Quartz befriends General Rouge, who tells them that she is General Eagle's daughter. Quartz conveniences Ignite to go the Sky Kingdom; she and Rouge then use the map to find that Eagle is in the Northern Mud Kingdom.
Arid, Blizzard, (and Smoke) go down to the Deep Palace, where they meet Calamity, who has the princess's unconscious body, and plans to use it to give him the Eye of Pearl. A fight ensues, and Calamity teleports Quartz into it. He tells them what the Eyes' true powers are, and is turned into a SeaWing by Arid using the Eye of Pearl, who was given permission by Turtle. The group fights Calamity on two fronts, Turtle keeping him from becoming insubstantial, and the rest attacking him mercilessly.
Eventually, Calamity is defeated, and dissolves into dust. Turtle tells them that he'll reform, but for now they are safe. Turtle then disappears, and gives the Eye of Pearl under the protection of the group. The group goes to find Quartz's father, General Eagle in the Northern Mud Kingdom. Meanwhile, Rinkhal finds the Eye of Opal in the rainforest, and seems to be able to use it.
The group then travels to the Northern Mud Kingdom to find Quartz's father, General Eagle. Quartz and Arid ask him if he can help them, but he refuses, not caring what happens to the SkyWings. He eventually joins the group, but only out of worry for Quartz's safety. The group then heads to Aeolus in order to use the magical map to find Stonemover.
After reaching Aeolus, the group is disguised as SkyWings by Eagle, and uses the map to locate Stonemover in the old NightWing island. General Rouge then comes in, and orders the group arrested. A fight ensues, ending with Rouge taking Quartz as a hostage against Eagle, Ignite, and Calamity. The rest of the group is expelled from the Sky Kingdom and goes to the old NightWing volcano, where they find Stonemover. Stonemover shows them an old library on the island, but all the scrolls have appeared to be moved to Jade Mountain.
Meanwhile, Quartz meets Queen Radiant, who also appears to have been taken prisoner by the SkyWings. Before long, a SkyWing guard breaks the two out of the prison and they are able to escape Aeolus. The rest of the group heads to the Jade Mountain Library in search of the Black Scrolls.
The groups finds the scrolls (see below), and learn that Calamity was a animus from the Scorching, and that in order to defeat him permanently, one most bind him with the blood of an animus within another dragon's body. Ignite suddenly attacks the group within the library, but Eagle uses a spell in order to prevent her firescales from working. She is overcome, but tells the others that Quartz will die if she is killed. After a fight among the group about what to do with her, Canopy flies to the old Night Kingdom in order to join Calamity. Meanwhile, Quartz, Queen Radiant, and the SkyWing go to an old temple in the Mud Kingdom, where they meet Cove again, who turns out to be one of the leaders of the Talons of Peace. On advice from Phoenix, who appears as a voice in Quartz's head, she travels to the ruins of Jade Mountain.
Canopy meets Calamity along with a NightWing named Papaya, the leader of the Nightborn. After telling Calamity where the rest of the group is, Canopy returns with Calamity to Jade Mountain, bringing a large group of pureblood NightWings with them, while Papaya goes to the old NightWing island. The group clashes against the NightWings, and after a long battle, defeats them, yet in the battle Blizzard is almost killed by Canopy's venom. Quartz exchanges the Eye of Pearl for Calamity healing Blizzard, which he does. Ignite attempts to escape, but Canopy realizes that he was put under an animus spell to make him help Calamity, and by destroying Ignite's bracelet he undoes the spells, although Blizzard didn't realize this.
Fox then decides to join Calamity, and the two travel to the Sand Kingdom, where they plan to meet Papaya. Canopy follows them. Papaya gives Calamity a black stone, which Calamity uses to create a strange portal. Canopy attacks Papaya (who he learns is a mind-reader), but Fox interferes and the two fight. Canopy follows Calamity into the portal, which appears to lead the two to some type of shadow plane in which they can see and fly around Pyrrhia, but not interact with it. Calamity reveals that the plane was used by NightWings to store extremely dangerous animus objects so that they couldn't cause harm.
Calamity heads off in the shadow plane to the old NightWing canyons, while Canopy follows him. Fox and Papaya also enter the shadow plane. When Canopy and Calamity get to the canyons and the old palace, Canopy finds a orb in the throne room of the shadow plane that wasn't there before, and picks it up. This appears to set off some type of trap, and pressure waves start to bombard the shadow plane. Calamity makes a deal with Canopy to teleport them back if Canopy gives him the obsidian orb (the Eye of Obsidian), and Canopy agrees. Calamity's teleportation doesn't seem to work though, so they fly back to the portal entrance where they meet Fox and Papaya.
Back at the ruins of Jade Mountain, Blizzard, Quartz, and Cyclone get into a fight over what to do with a NightWing who survived the battle. Quartz ends up flying off, claiming that she'll join Calamity. It's also discovered that Eagle killed Queen Radiant (who wanted to take him back to the Rain Kingdom for justice against his war crimes), but none of the dragons seem to be disturbed at this. Quartz finds Calamity and enters the shadow plane, but the four quickly leave because of the painful pressure waves.
The liquid portal suddenly explodes from the pressure waves, and shards of obsidian fly everywhere, injuring most of the dragons and killing a few of the NightWings. Papaya falls unconscious. Calamity drops the Eye of Obsidian, and Canopy picks it up. Canopy refuses to give Calamity the Eye of Obsidian, so Calamity uses the Eye of Pearl and causes a rainstorm to appear over all of Pyrrhia. He then disappears, telling the dragons that he will be in the Rainforest.
Quartz meets up with Eagle again, and the two head to the Rainforest to join Calamity. Arid, Blizzard, and Canopy follow. By the time they get to the Rainforest, the rain has flooded almost everywhere. Canopy meets a few RainWings, and tells them of Queen Radiant's death. He then asks them if there were any descendants of Princess Greatness left, and they say that Papaya was one of them.
Canopy heads back to Papaya, and asks him if he can have permission to use the Eye of Obsidian. The injured Papaya, after muttering about voices telling him not to, gives Canopy permission, who then returns to the Rainforest again. Quartz and Eagle find a stone spire peeking above the flooded Rainforest, and enter into it, Eagle using his magic to let them breath. They find a temple inside, with a strangely un-flooded tunnel leading downwards. Canopy follows them, using a stone that allows him water-breathing.
After meeting up with Quartz, Eagle, and Fox, Canopy tries to use the Eye of Obsidian. He finds out that it can let him mentally talk with a remnant of the creator of the Eye, a NightWing named Duskbringer. Quartz and Eagle head down to the tunnel further, and find Calamity at the bottom. He has attempted to find the Eye of Opal, but instead found a note claiming, "Too slow, Calamity. ~F" Fox believes that "F" is her evil twin sister, Fennec.
The group leaves the temple, and Calamity absorbs the Eye of Pearl, stopping the rain. Canopy, under the advice of Duskbringer, goes to the old NightWing Volcano in order to find Stonemover and convince the animus to sacrifice himself in order to bind Calamity within another dragon's body. He convinces Stonemover to come with him, and they return to the rainforest. Meanwhile, Arid, Blizzard, Calamity, Eagle, Fox, and Quartz fly to where Princess Monsoon and Fennec are, and are joined by Canopy and Stonemover.
Canopy attacks Princess Monsoon, but hits an invisible RainWing guard instead. Princess Monsoon's guards shoot Eagle with poison darts, killing him, then allows Fennec to use the Eye of Opal. She then orders her guards to capture or kill the dragons. Canopy uses the Eye of Obsidian, creating an eternal night over Pyrrhia. After she kills Princess Monsoon, Fennec uses the Eye of Opal to start recreating the rainforest from its burnt and flooded state. Quartz gets Eagle's magical scrolls, and flies off. She encounters two cloaked MudWings, who save her from falling and take her to a nearby ledge overlooking the battlefield. Arid goes into the new forest, where he pursued by a guard.
Canopy and Blizzard start fighting, also being attacked by RainWings, when Canopy spits venom, hitting Blizzard. When Calamity heals Blizzard, Canopy cuts Stonemover, using his animus blood to bind Calamity's ghost to Blizzard, and forcing them to share a body. Stonemover is sacrificed by this.
The roleplay ended at that point (after going on for like... 2 years, wow), but this was the ending I had in mind (though maybe it would have turned out differently, it was a bit chaotic).
Canopy/Duskbringer escapes or leaves the group. Eventually, the group escapes or fights their way out from the RainWing royals (possibly due to an attack by Princess Monsoon's sister), and Fox ends up killing Fennec, Calamity absorbing the Eye of Opal. Blizzard finds out about her anti-animus magic powers at some point. Calamity says he can bring Eagle back to life with a compatible host (Quartz, Scrub, Rouge, any animus) (but this may not be a resolved plot point or included). At some point it may be revealed that Eagle and Quartz are descendants of Midnight and Ecru's adopted son, and that Eagle's book of spells was in fact passed down from Midnight and combined with Darkstalker's scroll. Arid, Quartz, Blizzard/Calamity go after the Eye of Coal. They find it with a group of scientist MudWing sibs experimenting with darkstone and attempting to find out the secret to the "source" of animus magic. They are led by Glen, who has used Adobe's necklace to become the immortal queen of the Northern MudWing Kingdom. Two of the scientist siblings attack the group (specifically Calamity) with enchanted weapons, a fight ensues, but the group wins. Glen is likely killed, and the Eye of Coal is obtained and used, and Calamity absorbs it.
Canopy/Duskbringer finally fully activate the Eye of Obsidian, creating eternal night over Pyrrhia. Blizzard/Calamity go after him and fight Canopy/Duskbringer for it, and wins, killing Canopy. Calamity absorbs the Eye of Obsidian, using it to create the Eye of Gold, and revealing what it does: with it connected to each of the tribes, it gives him the power to murder all dragons on Pyrrhia.
Everything is finally revealed: Pyrrhia is trapped in a time loop that was started by Queen Fen, who accidentally summoned the Horror with animus magic, and it consumed the world (this scene was back in Stone Cold from Calamity's memories). She used her magic to enchant Calamity to make a time loop that restarts whenever Calamity is destroyed, but instead of sending him back in time (which is impossible by animus magic), it literally creates a new Pyrrhia on top of the old one, making the layers of Pyrrhia that were seen back in the Crystal Caverns in Rising Flames (which Antigonia was separated from). When animus magic is used too much, the Horror gets enough power to break through and devour the souls of every dragon in Pyrrhia, creating a wasteland (that Midnight saw in Rising Flames). Ink and Fracture were able to see past iterations of the world by accessing old memories, but only Calamity remembers all of them, and has meticulously used the seven Eyes to influence the queens of Pyrrhia and designing the timeline how he wants it - sometimes playing around with it, other times working towards his goal. He explains that he is going to use the Eye of Gold to kill dragons so he can starve the Horror of its food (a plan that Crystal and Aurora were aware of and following), so that when it awakens it won't have anything to eat, and that when Calamity dies, a new world will be created until the Horror finally leaves, and animus magic (which it gives) is no more.
Even knowing this, Blizzard tries to stop Calamity from using it. He fully takes over Blizzard and begins to take over and activate it, Quartz uses a spell from Eagle's spellbook (which she writes in) to stop him, but she ends up using powerful enough magic it awakens the Horror, and doesn't stop Calamity. The Horror almost kills them all but Calamity, but Aurora suddenly appears and attacks it. Blizzard, knowing Aurora as her grandmother says something like gran-gran in surprise as she tries to wrest control of Calamity, who tells Aurora that his way is the only way. (At some point, probably later on, it's noted that Blizzard's anti-animus powers come from Aurora implanting Torrent's emerald into her head) She sticks her talons into Blizzard and kills Calamity, creating a new world above Pyrrhia, starting right after the Scorching. Arid picks up the Eye of Gold as the Horror expands in the sky over the current Pyrrhia.
Empty Nights
Part 1
The final book in the series is called Empty Nights (or maybe Eternal Night? I think Empty, I can't check at the moment for various reasons). It also would be around 200k words, and would total the series at 1 million words. There are three parts, but I have far less detail for them. Also, I just remembered that the plan is for Broken Skies Parts 2 & 3 to occur 150 years after the Brightest Night, so that the Horror arises on a Darkest Night.
I also should note that the time loop isn't exactly a time loop, because the Horror doesn't return souls. When Pyrrhia is created anew, everyone, including Calamity, has recreated souls, though Calamity remembers everything that the Calamity's went through.
Part 1 is a series of Calamity points of view from many of his lifetimes, a lot of short snippets. It contains his first life with Queen Fen, his very confusing second life as he discovers what happened to him (dying in the Scorching before even seeing the Horror), him meeting Ignite (without Ash), his creation of the Eyes, utopian worlds he created, dystopian worlds he created, his manipulation/creation of Torrent in an early attempt to use Torrent's dagger to remove Fen's curse on him and kill himself, discovering Fracture's powers and realizing he's not alone, him learning of Nightreader's prophecy, interactions with him and Crystal and Aurora, the timeline where Ash survives, the timeline (that Ink saw) where Loresearcher survived. It ends with him waking up in the world created after Broken Skies, during the Scorching.
Part 2
Part 2 returns to Arid/Quartz/Blizzard/Fox/Aurora and involves the aftermath and the Horror taking over Pyrrhia. With Arid now having the Eye of Gold, the group doesn't stand a chance against the Horror, but is still able to have some protection against it. Aurora takes the group back to a protected area, where a very old Moonwatcher and Griffin are alive. They work together to attempt to save as many dragons on Pyrrhia as possible (the queens united in a peaceful war, like the prophecy). The survivors are brought up through the Crystal Caverns, and are let out onto the new Pyrrhia. They encounter Calamity during the Scorching, and events happen because of that. However, due to taking the Eye of Gold and the Horror's food with them, the Horror manages to follow them up to the Scorching Pyrrhia.
Part 3
In Part 3, the group and the survivors and a number of the Scorching-era dragons go to Antigonia. They learn that Inferno, who is still alive, fell comatose because Calamity took her soul to get back Ignite. Aurora helps Ignite regain her memories as Inferno, while the group works to figure out how to stop the Horror, and we see how Antigonia has changed. However, the Horror eventually breaks through to Antigonia (which had been separated from the time loop by Ash), and is now in new Pyrrhia and Antigonia.
At the very end of the book, Griffin and Aurora are forced to sacrifice themselves to save the others as they enact their plan to stop the Horror. Blizzard takes the Wishstone, and uses it as the Horror destroys the two worlds, changing the curse on Calamity so that he is instantly revived without creating a new Pyrrhia for the Horror to feed on, knowing that if it's really unintelligent, it will focus on an infinite supply of food in front of it, and will eat infinite Calamity souls (though it's possible this might run out eventually...). However, she is attacked by the Horror doing this, and dies. She tells Quartz and Arid about something Aurora told her, and asks them to create a new world as far away from the Horror as they can, and gives them the Wishstone. Finally, Quartz and Arid use the Wishstone and the Eye of Gold to destroy the old Horror-consumed worlds and create a new one the best they can just like Ash did, moving those in this world who hadn't yet died, and recreating those who did. As they complete their use of the Wishstone and look towards the future, we fade to black.
Fin.
