A/N: Hey, I'm here again! This time with an update that it's nothing more than a lot of fluff, so I hope you like this one!
Donna went out a few minutes ago to the balcony. The night before, a migraine had made her spend many hours with awful insomnia, and she still feels really exhausted. So she took those minutes of tranquility to enjoy the sun and wind on her face, and try to relax.
"Hey..." Harvey murmurs and surprises Donna by hugging her from behind and giving her a long kiss on the neck that makes her loosen up her back against him.
"Hey..." she whispers, putting her hands on his, causing him to hug her tighter, and drops her nape on his shoulder.
"Do you feel better about migraine?" his voice is still low.
"I'm still exhausted. But yes, I feel much better. I think the pill has done its effect." She smiles softly, her eyes closed to the sun.
"I'm glad then." He responds and now gives her a kiss on her cheek. Then he makes her turn, still wrapping her waist with his arms, and they stand facing each other. "Listen..." he murmurs, dropping his forehead against her.
"What?" she whispers.
"Exactly." Harvey chuckles silly as she surrounds his neck with her arms. "Let's enjoy the silence."
"What is she doing?"
"Something I hope will keep her busy for at least 10 minutes, because I want to be alone with you for at least 10 minutes."
She chuckles. "Amazing that 10 minutes now seems like a lot to us."
"Well, I can do a lot in 10 minutes." He says proudly and brings her even closer to his body.
"You can do a lot even in 5 minutes." She responds with a silly smile, playing with the hair on the back of his neck.
"What can I say?" He shrugs with a proud expression on his face. "You have won the lottery with me."
Donna laughs loudly. "I just understood why we have an extra room. There is where your ego sleeps."
Now it's Harvey who laughs. "Yes, yes, hilarious." He pinches her hips, and she reacts by giving a small leap that makes him laugh again. "But now, let's enjoy the silence."
"Ok, I buy the plan." She smirks with her face all pursed by the sun, and Harvey can't help but giggle tenderly. "What? I have something?" She asks, alarmed.
He grins softly, reassuring her. "No, but you know I like it when your face frowns from the sun."
Donna bites her lower lip and can't avoid smiling like a fool denying with her head, but she says nothing, just clings to him and hides her face in the hollow of his neck, letting herself be flooded by the sensation of Harvey holding her, mixed with the afternoon sun's warm reaching them, the smell that his skin emanates and the sound of the city in the background. Harvey wraps her against him, as he gently drags his chin into her hair and feels her breath ever more calmly against his neck. "I love you." She murmurs without looking at him, and although they say to each other "I love you" daily, she has a tone of confession. "I love that you're always looking for moments to be alone with me, even if it's only 10 minutes."
Harvey grins against her hair and gives her a kiss on her head. "Well, I love our daughter and I love the family we're building, but I also still love my wife, who I think is you."
"Do you think?" she giggles silly and throws her head back to look at him.
Harvey squints his eyes as if he was focusing his gaze and Donna chuckles. "Yes, it's definitely you." He murmurs, raising his hands to her head and holding it to kiss her. Donna lowers her hands by the sides of his body and surrounds his waist with her arms, letting him guide the kiss. He makes Donna walk backward to carry her against one of the walls of the balcony and cradling her head to prevent her from hitting herself, kissing her more intensely, accessing her mouth, and winning some soft moans of her against his lips. "Yes, I confirm it. It's you." He smiles, dragging his nose against hers, panting from the shortness of breath.
"So, you go through life kissing women, just as you just kissed me, just to confirm whether they are your wife?" She teases him with an angry tone and her raising her eyebrows.
"No, not all of them. Only the redheads, which greatly reduces my margin of error."
Donna snorts, pretending anger and carrying her hands to his chest, to grab him from his sweater's high neck. "If you kiss any another woman like that... I'll throw you out from this balcony." She says, pulling his sweater, making him be closer to her. "Okay?" she asks, raising her left eyebrow.
"Oh well, Paulsen. I didn't know you were so keen on being a widow. "
"Well, you have money." She shrugs and giggles.
"Oh, good… So, that's why we are married?" he frowns.
"You know the answer," she responds, with honesty in her voice, and it's true that he knows it. "But remember: I would kill you with my own hands if you do that." She growls.
"You know I never would. Right?" he whispers, with nothing but the truth in his voice.
Donna smiles, reassuring him. "I know. I would never hesitate about you. Not even a second." She murmurs, her lips against his, and this time it's she who guides the kiss.
When they both run out of air, they say nothing more and just hug once again. Their eyes closed, their quiet breaths, their arms holding each other, their hands stroking each other gently, feeling like for a few seconds, the world can stop turning and be just that hug.
"I always believed that room was for another child." He says, trying to sound casual.
But Donna doesn't feel it casual and separates a few inches from him, with her eyes bigger than usual by surprise. "And where did you get that idea from?" her voice sounds too sharp and feels a little nervous.
"When we bought this house, I believed that. I don't know." He shrugs and arranges a strand of hair that the wind leaves in the middle of her face.
"Well, I believed it too..." she responds and pauses. "Would you have wanted to have another one?" she asks, guilty.
"Honestly, yes, but I also know it's a bit my fault for taking me so long to realize how much I loved you." He says, trying to take away some of the guilt he sees in her eyes. Donna sighs and begins to bite the inside of her mouth, as always does when she is nervous and doesn't know very well what to respond. Harvey looks at her for a few seconds without saying anything, but she dodges his gaze. "Hey…" he whispers and brings his hand to her chin, gently moving her head to look at her eyes again. "I'm truly happy with you and Avery. I don't need anything else."
"Sorry, if—" she sobs with her eyes full of tears.
"It's not your fault, I promise you." He whispers and gives her a soft kiss on her lips.
"I also would have liked Avery to have a sibling."
"She's also very happy."
"I know." She sighs."I know."
"I didn't say it to make you sad."
"I know that too."
"And I love you." He murmurs and gives her another brief kiss on her lips.
She smiles. "I also know that."
"Do you know?" he mutters in her ear and gives her a kiss under the ear and Donna feels that the touch of his lips there travels throughout her body as a pleasant wave.
She smirks with her eyes closed. "Yes, I do know that."
Harvey smiles and kisses up the way by her jaw, then the side of her face until he lands on her lips. "It's good that you do know." He grins against her lips and gives her a kiss there. Donna lets herself be wrapped again against him and lets her weight gently fall against him. "Because I do." He says, smooching her lips.
"I do it too." She responds, amid the kisses he continues giving her and dragging her palms on his back. Harvey loves when she does that, so he rewards her by sprinkling more kisses on her soft lips.
"I want some water, please!" Avery says in front of her parents, covering her eyes with both hands.
"Ok. But why do you cover your eyes?" Donna chuckles, still in her husband's arms.
"Because you're kissing and that's disgusting!" The 5-year-old girl says in her high-pitched voice as if that was obvious, and her parents can't help but giggle. The truth is that Donna and Harvey are carefully in front of their daughter, but they have never hidden from giving a kiss, a hug, or a soft touch, because they think it's important to teach their daughter about love and respect, and also about consent. It's also true that they both long for her to one day find a love like the one they have.
"But we give kisses to you too!" Harvey replies.
"Yes, but not in the mouth, ugh!" The girl's face purses, accentuating her point.
Donna chuckles again. "Hey kid, you can uncover your eyes."
Avery does so and looks at her parents, who are still hugging in front of her. "Who gives me the water?" she asks, not caring too much about the previous conversation. The girl is thirsty.
Harvey releases his wife and runs gently to his daughter, whom he raises in his arms and takes her to the kitchen, amid the child's laughter, loves when her father raises her by surprise and takes her flying to places. "Do you know that if I give mom kisses it's because she likes it too, right?" he asks her, sitting the little redhead at the countertop. Donna has followed them and listens to them from the door.
"Yes, I know Dad. But, I'm a kid."
"It's true that you're a kid," Harvey says, looking for Avery's minions' plastic cup. "But you have to know that if you love someone and that person agrees, you can kiss them and pamper them because it's a way to show love."
"I know, Dad, we do it all the time! But not on the lips!"
Harvey nods and offers water to his daughter, who holds her favorite cup with both hands and drinks several sips. "And no one can kiss or pamper you if you don't want it." He remembers her.
"I know, daddy." She responds, her face hidden in the cup.
"I know, sweetheart," Harvey responds and caresses her hair while smiling at Donna, who watches them from the door. Without saying anything, she approaches them and also pours herself some water.
"You said we would watch a movie together today." Avery reminds them, putting her cup aside. And it's true, that's what they had been told earlier. "And I want popcorn, please!"
Donna leaves her glass on the counter after drinking a few sips and leans on the counter with her hips, next to her daughter. "There is only one condition for popcorn."
"Which one, mommy?" she turns her head to look at her mom.
"You have to help me make them," her mom says, stroking her nose with her index finger.
"Yes, I'll help you." She smiles excitedly.
"Ok, we'll make popcorn then," Donna responds and turns her torso to give her a kiss on her head.
"And what about you? What will you do, Dad?"
Harvey shrugs. "I look at you."
"Always so useful!" Donna rolls her eyes.
"Well..." Harvey thinks for a few seconds, exaggerating the gesture. "Maybe I can make hot chocolate."
"Yes, please Dad! Please!" Avery says, joining her hands and putting on a puppy face.
Harvey and Donna chuckle tenderly, looking at the girl's reaction, and Avery helps them both in the kitchen, as well as eating extra pieces of chocolate and freshly made popcorn.
While they're on the couch watching the movie, Avery is in the middle of her parents. The mugs of chocolate are empty and she has on her legs the bowl with the remaining popcorn. She is the only one who continues eating. Donna lets drop her head on her daughter's and feel a soft kiss from Harvey on her forehead that makes her close her eyes and smile.
"What?" she whispers, just moving her lips and looking at him.
Harvey grins at her and gives her a quick kiss on the lips.
"Ughhhhhh!" the girl squeals, covering her eyes with both hands and letting some popcorn jump out of the bowl, although her parents can't help but chuckle. Harvey takes out the bowl and leaves it to one side, looking at Donna in a complicit way, and at the same time, both smooches her little daughter's cheeks, who begins to laugh as if they were making tickles on her.
You know I would love to read your thoughts about this one!
See you in the next update :)
