Lucius sat near Hermione's bed reading up on the treatment that Severus had given him in hope to help his wife with the side effects of the treatment when they went home which would not be until the second round that would be the following day. He sighed heavily and rubbed his temples. He looked up when there was light knock on the door and Ginny walked into the Malfoy's private room.
"I'm here as a friend and not as healer." Ginny said and sat down in the empty chair and watched her best friend sleep. "I'll sit with her while your out. I know you need to inform the firm on what is going on."
Lucius nodded his head. He leaned forward and gently touched Hermione's cheek and smiled when her brown eyes made contact with his blue eyes. "Love, I have to go into the office for a little while. Ginny's going to sit with you while I'm gone. I'll be back soon as possible."
Hermione nodded her head and weakly squeezed his hand. He kissed her gently on the forehead and exited the room. She sighed heavily squeezed her eyes shut when pain in her bones shot through her body.
"Do you need anything Mione?" asked Ginny and Hermione shook her head. The red head moved from the chair and laid down next to her best friend and wrapped her into her arms. Hermione snuggled into her arms.

Lucius took a deep breathe and opened the door to Malfoy Law Office and entered the large grand building. He looked around at several desks with several employees sat working on cases. "Everyone please met me in meeting room three in five minutes." He told them and made his way to the meeting room to mentally prepare himself what he was going to tell Hermione's co-workers and friends.
Five minutes later everyone took their seats at the long table. Draco entered last closing door behind him. He took his seat near his father. He took deep breath knowing what was going to be said.
"Thank you for coming. As you have read and learned over a short time Hermione Granger and myself wed." said Lucius.
"And about damn time too!" said Blasé Zambini and others around him agreed.
"Thank you Blasé. But that is not the reason behind this meeting. Until further notice I will be taking a leave of absence from Malfoy Law Office." He told them and raised his hand before anyone could interrupt. "Due to my wife's health. It is hard time at the moment. As of yesterday, Hermione started chemo treatment for cancer." The room was so silent you could have heard a feather drop.
"Is there anything we can do to help out?" asked Dean Thomas.
Lucius sighed heavily. "No, not at the moment. But thank you. Draco will still keep my informed on the cases. If you need my advice, please come see me at the manor. I will still help with anything you may need."
Draco patted his father's shoulder. "Don't worry. I will have everything in hand. You have taught me well. You just take care of Hermione."
Lucius nodded his head. He rose from his chair. "I must return to the hospital. Please if you want to visit Hermione do so. But if you have the smallest of cold it will make her very sick. Please be careful when being around her, and let know in advance if you do wish to visit. She will be having her good days and bad days."
"Not problem Boss." They all said and watched the man leave meeting room. They were all wrapped up in their own thoughts. They couldn't believe that the heartbeat of the firm was deathly ill.
