Suki watched in both shock and horror as Katara stomped her way out of the cafeteria, other students shuffling out of her way as she went.

"What's her problem?" Sokka mumbled from Suki's right as he shifted in his seat, his arms thrown over his chest in a defensive stance. Suki dropped her grey eyes to her boyfriend as she opened and closed her mouth, deciding if he didn't know why his sister was so angry or if he didn't think he'd done anything wrong.

"Are you seriously asking me that?" Suki's brain finally settled on as she tried to unwrap the scene that had just played out before her. She had to admit, she felt partially guilty for the whole situation, she hadn't meant for Katara to be embarrassed or for Sokka to act like an entitled jerk.

She was just excited for Katara, she loved that girl like her own sister, she'd seen how shy Katara had been around boys in the first week of college, how she'd avoided talking to them or practically ran away when one would approach her. At first, she'd feared the worst had happened to her, some deep dark pain that she was hiding. That fear lessened significantly when Katara befriended Aang and Yue introduced Hahn to the group without Katara so much as batting an eye. But she still had those lingering fears about what Katara had been through. Her intuition was telling her something was wrong.

Then yesterday, she found her talking to a handsome stranger in between two bookshelves, she sounded happy and a little flustered but in a cute way, not an all-out panic attack kind of way, Suki's eyebrows had almost met her hairline. further still when she reached out and brushed the guy's hair from his eyes. She had wanted so badly to leave them to themselves but knew if she didn't interrupt them either Aang or Sokka would have gone looking and that would have been so even more embarrassing for her or at least that's what Suki had thought.

It turned out not only did Katara know the guy but she'd dated him, and from the way they looked at each other she could tell it was so painfully obvious they were not in any way shape or form over each other, she'd even go as far as to say they were in love with each other. What she didn't like was her boyfriend's reaction to him, she didn't have a brother but she guessed from what her other friends back home had said that some tension was normal. But Sokka had been next level bratty and that thought alone was what was driving Suki into the incredulous rage she found herself in.

"What? I didn't say anything that wasn't true. They split like two years ago" Sokka cried as he met the widened eyes of his girlfriend.

"So? She obviously still likes him and he clearly likes her so what exactly is the problem?" Suki spoke her eyes narrowing as she glared down at her incised boyfriend.

"Because he's an absolute jerk? And he broke her heart?" Sokka offered as if the fact should be obvious to everyone on the table.

"Actually, it sounds like you just moved and they didn't really get a say in that break up" Suki corrected.

"We always moved! it was her fault for getting attached" Sokka argued, he knew as soon as the words left his mouth it was an unfair and dumb thing to say, he knew it more when Suki's eyes widened at him her face shifting into a mixture of disbelief and anger. Her mouth opened and closed as she tried so hard to form a coherent sentence that wouldn't have her ancestors rolling in their graves.

"Wow. Even I thought that was harsh Snozzles" Toph spoke as she placed her glassy eyes on Sokka.

"Well, none of you know him, you've met him once and he was nice enough to you guys" Sokka huffed.

"Yeah, he was nice, nice enough not to slap the eyeballs out of your head for glaring at him the whole time" Suki finally managed. Her heart raced in her chest as her blood heated in her veins. She'd never seen Sokka act this way before and she wasn't liking what she was seeing, he was acting spoilt and entitled.

"What? Are you taking his side? Aang, help me out?" Sokka sputtered as he turned to the quiet teenager for back up.

"I don't know Sokka, Katara seemed pretty upset" Aang spoke shyly as he kept his wide grey eyes on the plate in front of him.

"Of-freaking-course she was upset! You embarrassed her in front of her friends" Suki cried as she resisted the urge to slap the table. "And worse of all you insulted her by instituting whatever feelings she has for him are shallow"

"Suki, that's insane, I never insulted Katara" Sokka scoffed.

If Suki hadn't had the years of martial arts training she did, the hours and hours she'd spent in sweat and tears training discipline into her very fibre, she might have slapped that smug look straight off her boyfriend's face. As it was she did have the training and even though Sokka was testing her patience, she would never raise a hand to him. So she let out a long breath to soothe the burning bile making its way to her throat. She needed a minute to compose the storm raging in her gut.

"But you did" the whole table turned in shocked surprise to see Yue, her piercing blue eyes staring directly at Sokka. "You suggested that she entered her relationship knowing she was on a deadline" Yue added softly. "When a girl chooses a man she isn't looking for an expiration date, and Katara's was forced. She didn't get a say in it. She's probably still carrying around a lot of hurt from that" she continued, "and you shined a light on that hurt for all her friends to see. Not only is she feeling embarrassed but she's probably feeling a little betrayed by her brother"

Suki blinked at the usually quiet girl for a moment, the shock of Yue not only speaking up against a loudmouth like Sokka but taking her and Katara's side, helped to cool the pulsing anger in her veins. Suki felt a rush of comradeship as she turned back to Sokka, a new fuel burning in her gut. She flicked her eyebrow at him giving him a knowing look, she could tell from the look on his face that not even Sokka, in all his infinite male wisdom, had expected the meek Yue to speak up.

"See? I'm not the only one who thinks you acted like an entitled asshole" Suki said smugly. She had to admit, Yue was pretty insightful, and if Sokka would only engage that brain of his he would realise Yue was right.

"I'm just looking out for my sister okay? Katara hasn't always made the best choices when it comes to guys" Sokka huffed as he eyed Yue before slipping his own blue eyes back to Suki.

"But, Sokka, those are her choices. And the way that Zuko looks at her…" Yue trailed off as if lost in some distant thought. "... like the stars shine only for her" Suki nodded in agreement before the table went quiet for a moment.

"Wait? Zuko? Zuko Roku? That's the guy Katara is dating?" Hahn boomed as he stared wide-eyed at Sokka. Suki sighed as she turned to face Hahn, if there was one person on the table who Suki would let her discipline slip for it would be Hahn. The look of smug pride on Hahns face only made her fist itch. What the hell was this guys problem?

She hated him just as much as Sokka did, his arrogance was almost smothering at times and when he spoke Suki's fist practically curled with the need to hit him. She didn't though, as much as she hated this square-jawed loser, he was Yue's boyfriend and Yue was her friend, and also if anyone was caught assaulting anyone on campus they'd be kicked out. And not even the satisfaction of slapping the taste out of Hahn's mouth was worth that.

"Yeah. What of it?" Suki responded flatly, her eyebrow tilted and her jaw flexed.

"Well then if that's the case, Sokka is justified. I wouldn't want a guy like that, who looks like that, chasing my sister either" Hahn smirked, his arms flung loosely around Yue's narrow shoulders.

The silence on the table was palpable, Suki could have sworn she saw Yue shuffle ever so slightly away from Hahn, everyone knew what he had meant. Even Sokka had bustled in his seat, to Suki's disappointment he didn't say anything.

Zuko's scar. Suki thought as she narrowed her eyes to slits before scowling at Hahn. Every curse word she could think of coupled with every insult she'd ever heard in her nineteen years flew through her head as she tried to find one that was fitting enough for that grotesque comment.

"Whatever that means. He is still a thousand times more attractive than you are" Toph spoke first, a slight glower marring her own pretty features. Suki felt the relief wash over her. she couldn't have said it better herself. Zuko may be scared but he was still handsome and Yue was right, the way he looked at Katara had caused her heart to flutter to.

"Well, Sokka, I hope you're happy" Suki spoke in a low voice as she rose to her feet grabbing her own bag from off the table.

"Wait, where are you going?" Sokka asked wide-eyed as he eyed Suki.

"I'm going to help Katara get ready for her date, coming Yue?" Suki asked as she threw her eyes in the direction of the platinum beauty.

"Yeah. I'm coming" Yue replied, lifting herself to her feet with all the grace of a princess. Suki watched as Yue side-eyed Hahn, she wouldn't say it out loud but Suki could see it plain as day, she was as angry and as disgusted with her boyfriend as Suki was with hers.

"Wha-Suki?" Sokka sputtered as he watched the girls follow the path Katara had cleared not ten minutes before.

"Sokka, I love you babe, but you acted like an idiot. you need to think long and hard about what matters to you. Katara's happiness or whatever problem it is you've obviously been carrying for the last two years" Suki sighed, Sokka had the good sense to look at the table in front of him. Suki only hoped that meant he was thinking hard on what she and Yue had said,

She flicked her eyes to Hahn, in her opinion he'd gotten off light considering how cruel a comment he'd made, but Hahn wasn't Suki's problem. The Blue-eyed boy who she loved more than anything was and right now she wanted to be around him just as much as she wanted to be around Hahn. She really couldn't see what someone as kind and as beautiful as Yue saw in that fool.

She didn't dwell on it, there would be plenty of time to show Yue her worth and right now she needed to show Katara her worth as her friend and hopefully, Katara would forgive her.
