A/N: As an apology. I wrote a small bonus chapter.
I do not own these characters.
Bonus: Storm Sokka
Sokka stormed the short distance between his dorm and Katara's, he was in no mood for her silent treatment after the lack of sleep he'd had. He'd spent hours the night before trying to call his sister after Yue had called Suki distressed that Katara hadn't returned to their dorm. His eyes burned with how tired he was and his jaw ached from having it clamped shut in a rage, had it not been for Suki insisting he got at least some sleep he'd have been up all night.
Thanks to Suki, he at least knew she'd gone to Lake laogai with Zuko, he took comfort knowing that Katara was a strong swimmer and the likelihood of a water-related accident was fairly low - he'd also called the hospital looking to see if any patients fitting Katara's description had been admitted the night before, he'd breathed a sigh of relief when that search came up empty, But that meant he still had no idea where his sister was.
Arriving at her dorm he slammed his fist against the door, a large part of him prayed she was inside so at least he knew she was safe and she wasn't lying injured somewhere but a smaller part of him prayed she was in there so he knew she wasn't still with him. He'd already colourfully informed Suki last night that if anything had happened to Katara he'd personally make Zuko regret ever laying his eyes on her.
When he'd received no answer the first time, he slammed his fist again, Katara could be stubborn and she was a past master at the silent treatment- he'd been on the receiving end of her ire before, but he wasn't here to play games with her, he was furious.
The third time he slammed his fist against the door it opened, causing him to stumble ever so slightly. It took him a moment to realise the blue eyes he was glaring down at were too light to be Katara's, he felt himself soften when he realised it was Yue blinking at him, her own eyes wide with her startle.
"Sokka…" Yue's gentle voice softly kissed the space between them, as she turned her gaze away from him, suddenly finding the floor of more interest. He couldn't help but think she looked like an arctic hare, with her eyes wide and snow-white locks.
"Sorry Yue, I was hoping Katara had shown up" Sokka spoke, softening his voice so his frustration was contained.
"Ah, no, not yet" Yue replied as she raised her eyes to meet his before she dropped them again.
For the briefest of seconds he could have sworn her cheeks coloured, a soft pink flush that swept the dusky hue of her skin. For a moment he thought she looked pretty before he quickly eradicated the thought from his head. He cleared his throat as he too flicked his eyes away from her.
"Do you have any idea what time she'll be back?" Sokka asked.
"I'm sorry, I don't" Yue spoke softly as she offered Sokka an apologetic smile, he didn't like what that smile did to his chest or the fact that Yue's presence had managed to calm the storm that had been raging in him since Suki had arrived at his room last night.
Suki. He allowed her image to fill his thoughts, the funny dance his chest had started stilled as he thought about the pretty girl who could kick his ass. If Yue was a hare then Suki was a fox.
"...I know she has a class at midday though" Yue offered, interrupting his thoughts, he levelled a gaze at her but regretted it. Her large blue eyes peering directly into his, he swallowed. His chest doing that funny skip again. "You could wait inside?"
"Yeah, thanks" Sokka nodded as he carefully took a side step around her, he didn't like how he was feeling, He felt all jittery and unsettled, like his nerves were frayed and the endings were softly fluttering beneath his skin.
He took a few steps further into the room, distancing himself from his sister's unnecessarily roommate. He figured if there was enough space between them his chest would settle and he could refocus on his anger for his sister's disappearing act.
The mention of Katara had managed to soothe the waves in his stomach and replace them with the fiery pit of hellfire he'd be unleashing on his wayward sibling the minute she decided to grace him with her presence. Jitters soothed he flopped himself onto Katara's bed, he knew It was hers by the throw she'd lovely placed on the end, he remembered Gran-Gran had knitted for her the Christmas before she had passed away.
"Sokka?" Yue spoke, her gentle voice easing him out of his thoughts. He turned his head to look at her, his breath catching as he caught the full view of her ethereal beauty. He hadn't noticed the summer dress that hung just above her knee or her white hair tumbling around her narrow shoulders, framing her delicate face. His chest thumped involuntarily, he didn't like that.
"Y-yeah?" He spoke as he cleared his throat, he felt his own cheeks heat up under the power of her gaze.
This isn't good. A small voice whispered in the back of his head before he shook himself of it.
"I have class now, will you text me when you speak with Katara?" She asked as she fiddled with her bag strap, he'd noticed Katara would do the same thing whenever she would talk to Zuko. The thought stilled him.
I love him. The words cannoned into his brain, knocking against the walls of his skull like a wrecking ball. Katara had spoken to him two days ago and he was still in denial that she had meant them, there was no way she could know she loved him after four days. There was no way she could love him. And there was definitely no way Yue felt anything close to that for him, she had Hahn and he had Suki and besides that, He'd only met the girl three weeks ago. He was being ridiculous.
It doesn't have to be love. That small voice curled around his thoughts before he shoved it down. Yue was shy at her most social times, he shouldn't think any further into it than that. He didn't want to think any further than that.
"Of course, thanks Yue" he replied offering her a smile, this time he was certain he saw her cheeks tint pink as she turned on her heel and left him alone to his thoughts.
Shit.
