The Fairy Tail Overlord: Chapter 2
(Nether Heart.)
23rd of June x782 - Shirotsume Town:
"What is the Nether Heart?" Natsu asked the Minion Master.
"It's the heart of Netherworld and its Tower," Gnarl explained to Natsu and Happy. "You could say it is the power source of what we are. Without it, an Overlord is limited to what they can do with their own power. We were lucky to find it here."
"What do you mean?" asked Happy.
"I was going to tell you at the Netherworld Tower, but we sort of lost the Heart nearly four hundred years ago." Gnarl told them grimly.
"What do you mean 'sort of lost it'?" asked Natsu.
"Well, to be honest, it was stolen from us," Gnarl admitted darkly at the thought of what happened. "To this day I have no idea how they got into Netherworld Tower. At the time, we had just won a big battle for evil against the Alvarez Empire, which was led by a group known as The Shining Justice, the group was led by a trio of champions: the paladins, Lady Clarissa the Vigorous, Sir Cedric the Cleanly, and a unicorn known simply as Sparkle. The actions of this group had created an encroaching plague of light known as 'The Golden' which cutifies and beautifies everything in its path." Here, the old minion cringed, as he remembered this time, as he himself was cutified for a short while.
"For ten long years The Shining Justice created peace and goodness around the world," Gnarl cringed at this, "by using the 'The Golden' to get rid of evil. Evil was slowly dying because of this, and with no Overlord to rain evil over the world, we were forced to go deeper into the Netherworld in parts known as the Netherdeep. We knew that if we wanted to get out of this, we needed to find some help," Gnarl explained to the Dragon Slayer, "and by luck I was informed about a book called 'The Big Book o' Evil.' The book allowed me to summon forth four undead individuals known as The Netherghuls, they weren't true Overlords, but, instead, were potential 'candidates' for the job, seeing as the minions had yet to find a true Overlord that can save them from The Golden!"
Normally, Natsu wouldn't listen to long winded stories, as he was more of an action kind of person, someone who likes to keep moving and continue to do something - more often than not, that something would be fighting. But for some strange reason, both he and Happy were interested in this story and wanted to learn more.
"For a few years, it was bliss with darkness in the world; the killing, pillaging and raping, it was just like the good old days." Gnarl said with a dark smile while thinking back to the good old days, when he was in his Minion Master prime. "We might not have been able to find a new Overlord, but The Netherghuls were doing their job at keeping the good at bay. However, they began to fight against each other, as to decide who should become the new Overlord. The fight left the Netherworld and seeped into the rest of the world. At some point, a group of people entered the Netherworld Tower and stole the Nether Heart. Somehow, as we minions watched the fight with interest, with all the blood and gore, it was a great sight to be seen. And since then, whenever a new Overlord appeared, we went searching for it. But each time, either the Overlord gets killed before we can find it, which happens more often than you'd think, or we can't find the Heart at all and the Overlord is limited to whatever power they themselves possess, which means they often lose their lives not long after becoming Overlord, or they failed in one way or another."
"So why is this Nether Heart here?" asked Natsu.
"I do not know sire," Gnarl admitted thoughtfully, before taking on a bit darker facial expression as he thought about who might have had the Nether Heart, "and I don't know how those half-witted fools got their hands on it, either."
"Who are they?" asked Happy.
"They are Halflings, evil, greedy, little buggers." Gnarl scoffed.
"More evil than an Overlord?" asked Happy.
"Oh please, those creatures more evil than the Overlord? They are nothing more than pests to be stepped upon." Gnarl scoffed at the thought, "I thought that we had gotten rid of them years ago, but it seems that they had been hiding, and are better off because of it. Before, they were short, ugly, little shits, with their feet covered in coarse hair, and didn't know how to dress. But now look at them," Gnarl waved his hand over to them, "they seem healthier than ever and smartly dressed too. I have no idea what the darkness happened to them." Upon seeing the Nether Heart being pulled away, the Minion Master said, "Hurry Master, we need to follow them."
And with that, the Minion Master dragged Natsu up the hill.
And Then…
Outside of Everlue's Mansion:
Gnarl, Natsu and Happy followed the horse carriage to a mansion that was on top of a hill: The mansion was a large and compact building constructed under rigorous symmetry that seems to consist of a central section - counting at least three floors - topped by a pitched tile roof, with three protruding structures possessing similar roofs, which sprouted from both its sides on the top balcony, delimited by railings, which is formed on top of the two identical wings flanking the main structure.
The whole building is surrounded by a square fence, composed of cement topped by metal railing. The fence encloses a small lawn, and outside, it is surrounded by a square stone road, connected at the front to the large pathway leading to the main entrance, and with its edges adorned by tidy round bushes...
This is what the horse and carriage stopped in front of, when five of the ugliest maids that Gnarl, Natsu and Happy had ever seen in their lives appeared, and that was saying something for Gnarl - since he had been around for a very long time and had seen things that most wouldn't even imagine, showed up. The Minion Master had to wonder what kind of person would have such ugly maids on the grounds, especially a maid as ugly as that pink haired gorilla maid; luckily, he didn't have to wait for long, when said person appeared.
He was a short, plump man with skinny arms and legs. He was wearing a formal black suit, with his jacket fastened with a large gold button and adorned with a decorative red flower. Beneath his jacket is a white collared shirt, a blue necktie and dark blue boots. He also sports a curled mustache which directly protrudes from his nostrils, as well as a bushel of wavy hair atop his round head.
Upon seeing the man from his position, Gnarl sighed darkly, "Should have known, sire. Only a damn bloody Halfling would be this... disgusting."
"Master Everlue we have found it, the Nether Heart," one of the Halflings said with a bow.
"Let me have a look Oldfur, and I'll tell you if you got what I wanted," Everlue told the Halfling as he walked up to the carriage and checked the item. After checking it thoroughly, Everlue said with glee, "Yes, Oldfur, this is what I wanted, my family has been looking for this for a very long time. At long last I now have the Nether Heart, the very power source of the Netherworld Tower. With this, we can control not only the Netherworld, but the very world over time. Now bring it in, the faster it's inside the better, I don't want anyone stealing it from me now that I have it."
And with that, the Halflings took the Nether Heart into Everlue Mansion, as Everlue and his so-called maids disappeared. With them gone, Gnarl, Natsu and Happy came out of the place they were hiding from and Gnarl said, "Master, we have to break in and take the Nether Heart back from them. We can't have some nasty Halfling controlling the Netherworld."
"So we break in and take the thing?" Natsu asked the old minion.
"And destroy the place, too," Gnarl told the Dragon Slayer, who grinned at this, "we have to let this half-witted fool know that the Overlord is back, and he shouldn't be taking our things."
"You got me at destroying the place," Natsu smirked foolishly, thinking about destroying the mansion, but then a thought came to him. "What is a Halfling? Whilst I'm all for going in there guns blazing, I'm trying to do things smarter, and I don't want to enter there not knowing what I am facing. So what are Halflings, and do they have any magic I should be aware of?"
The old minion smiled at this, it would seem that this new Overlord has at least half a brain. Most of the new Overlords go into a fight not thinking about what they were facing, and whilst it could work, this action could end with them dying. It was nice when an Overlord thought about their actions before making them, so it was nice to see that this Overlord is thinking before acting.
"Well, what I know of Halflings is little, sire," Gnarl admitted to his new Master. "The rumour is that they are descendants of elves at the very least. They started off as Half-Elves, but inbreeding with the two races for too long, along with some other races over the years created the Halflings. I do not know if this is true or not, nor do I care, Master. But what I do know is that they are greedy, little, half-witted bastards, who kill and steal from others, normally they do so just for the hell of it and do not have any real goals like the Overlord does.
"I haven't seen a Halfling for nearly a hundred years or so, we thought we killed them all Master." Gnarl told Natsu, sounding disappointed that they aren't extinct as he thought they were. "So other than gaining an inch or two in height, I don't know if they have magic or not. As far as I know, the last time I saw them they did not, but sire, I would be careful just in case. The area smells of magic, be it theirs or someone else's I don't know, but there is magic around here, so be careful! And Master before you go. If you're going to face those Halflings, then you'll need help. Those Halflings are like cockatrices, where there's one of them there's, more than likely, a lot more of them. Whilst they might not look like it, they are vicious little bastards, and you might need help with them."
as Gnarl looked over the gate and the mansion and asked, "how would you like to enter and how would you like to proceed first master?"
"Hummm normally I would want to charge it add break everything in sight but not knowing what I'm going to be going up against and not willing to put Happy in risk I think we should try a more stealthy approach for now at least until we know what we're up against," Natsu said not liking the idea of being stealthy but not wanting to rush In and possibly put Happy in danger.
And Then…
Everlue's Mansion:
with this Gnarl was happy and annoyed at the same time, he was happy that the new Master was thinking and trying to do stuff stealthily but was not happy at how he was trying to do it to keep the cute kitty safe he thought in disgust, " then master I suggest that we sneak in through a window before we call in our backup," he said with an evil smile as he walked forward and pick the lock with ease. And after a few intense minutes of sneaking through the yard and happy lifting the two of them up and onto a balcony where Natsu melted the glass and opened the door to Gnarl excitement to send it again, as soon as they were in they went to the bottom floor of a large Library room as they looked around they didn't see anyone around and the Minion Master pulled out a gem from his cloak, holding it he said, "Grubby, are you there, you putrid lump of flesh?"
There were a few seconds of silence, then there were some strange grunting sounds, it must have been some sort of language, as Gnarl said, "Stop moaning you useless sack of pus, I need a Minion Gate where I am now!"
There were some more strange grunting sounds, before Gnarl said, "I know that we are low on power Grubby, but I'm with the new Overlord and we have found the Nether Heart. But we need the Brown Minion Gate, and the few Brown Minions that we have, along with the Overlord Gauntlet."
There was a high-pitched sound of "For the Overlord!" before there was nothing. Then all of a sudden the ground started to shake, and open as four black, shiny, jagged rocks, each pointing towards a 'center,' within which was a brown orb of energy, leading to realms beyond mere men. Out of the orb of energy, a brown, impish figure arose, with crooked, yellow, glowing eyes, elongated ears, thin, and muscular limbs. The figure was wearing leather cloth around his wrists, and had a pick-axe with a hard hat that had a lamp attached to it.
He was holding a gauntlet: The gauntlet itself was black, and appeared to have a skull on it, with sharp teeth at the fingers, sunken nostrils, and glowing amber eyes. It was plated, with five large plates going up the wrist. The edges of the plating were silver in color, and had rune-like etchings on them. In the middle of the gauntlet, a large gem, the same color as the eyes, resides, polished to a shine.
"Brown Minion Gate and Gauntlet for Master," the minion said proudly in a high pitch voice, as he gives Natsu the Gauntlet before jumping back into the orb of energy.
"Who was that?" asked Happy, Natsu nodding in agreement.
"That was Grubby, a Brown Minion," Gnarl told the two of them. "He's a specialist minion, he is a minion digger. He is in charge of expanding the tunnel network and setting up gates that connect this place to the Netherworld."
"So what do these Minion Gates and Gauntlet do?" Natsu asked in interest.
"The Brown Minion Gate allows you to call forth Brown Minions to aid you in a fight," the Minion Master explained. "Brown Minions are your melee fighters. Their policy is bash first, and jump up and down on the carcass later." Gnarl chuckled at this evilly, "Browns are the toughest of all the Minions you have sire. They're never ones to shy away from a fight. In fact, it's quite difficult to get them to stop!"
"And the Gauntlet?" asked Natsu.
"It is the most important tool for an Overlord to have, sire," Gnarl bowed at this. "You see, Master, you can use it to summon the Minions from the Minion Gates. The Gauntlet controls them. so give it a go Master, put on the Gauntlet and summon some. Be warned though, sire, that at the moment, other than some specific minions, you can only summon five Minions at this time, as we do not have any more lifeforce to do so. Even if we had enough lifeforce, you can only control A certain amount of minions depending on your willpower. The Gauntlet will tell you how much you can hold without Straining yourself. So sire, put the Gauntlet on and summon the Browns."
As Natsu looked at the Gauntlet, he thought it was a bit too big, but put it on his right hand anyway. As he did so, the Gauntlet refitted itself to him. Natsu suspected that the magic in the Gauntlet allowed itself to fit its new owner, so as he grew and became stronger, so would the Gauntlet.
As Natsu looked at the Gauntlet and thought about how to summon the Browns, he felt a strange feeling, an urge to push some of his magic into it and wave his hand over the Brown Minion Gate. Nothing to lose, the Dragon Slayer did just that, and within a few moments, five Brown Minions jumped out of the Gate and a small display on the crystal showed 5/17 on it..
Upon appearing, they cried out Master in joy. Then Gnarl said, "Ah, look at those happy, little, evil faces, ready to loot, pillage and even happily die at your command and I'm quite impressed master, normally the overlords could control around 3 to 10 you have great potential it seems.."
"What are they wearing?" Happy asked as he saw the strange clothing that the Minions were wearing, all of the minions we're wearing tattered loincloths barely covering them, while one of them had a pumpkin on its head as a helmet, and was holding a huge bone like a weapon.
"As I said before, they aren't the smartest," the Minion Master explained, "so they'll pick up anything to use as weapons and armor, even if it makes no sense to the rest of you, but You don't need to worry about them picking up weaker equipment, us minions want to serve you for as long as we can so we'll always pick up the best of the best as we go. Anyway, before we leave to get the Nether Heart and loot and plunder, let's see if you can use the Gauntlet to control the Browns."
Before Natsu could ask how to control the Minions with the Gauntlet, he felt the same magic come over him as he did before, which informed him what to do next. It was like the Gauntlet was telling him, guiding him, how to use it. As he pushed some power into the Gauntlet, he thought of the order to lead the Minions to where he wanted them, and to his surprise, they actually followed his lead.
"Good, good Master, you're doing better than most Overlords that I have seen." Gnarl admitted to his new Overlord, "Now one last thing before you leave. Now that you have the Gauntlet, anyone that dies around you, their lifeforce will appear. The Minions are able to pick up the lifeforce and give them to you, the Gauntlet will absorb them and send them to the Netherworld Tower, where we will use the lifeforce to create new Minions and send them to you."
Happy was shocked to hear that Natsu would have to kill to get more minions, happy knew that what happened to Natsu was bad but was he really going to do this so soon, happy felt uneasy about this whole prospect, while on the other side of the coin Natsu didn't seem to care much not seeing a big deal in the problem.
As they fully entered the library, three Halflings came in from the entrance saying "Master Everlue wants us to find the book on the Nether Heart." but as soon as they got in Natsu ordered the Browns to attack them, in which they did so without question. Within seconds the Halflings were dead, and to Happy's shock and Natsu's curiosity, other than what looked like brown lifeforce came from them as Gnarl told them would happen, there was black smoke coming from them. But before Natsu could ask the old minion about it.
Gnarl started talking before either one of them could ask him, "you're most likely wondering what that black stuff is master that is concentrated evil, now that you have the overlords gauntlet you can see this and extract it from all evil creatures filling you with more energy and helping you down the darker path, he said with an evil smile.
"concentrated evil?" Natsu asked," could you explain that in a way that doesn't make it sound like we should already know what that is." he said looking a little bit annoyed.
"Oh right, master I forgot that you haven't grown up around evil yet, well cause of concentrated evil is basically... How would you humans put it... Oh yes! Human sins, you humans commit seven sins that you believe are evil if you overindulge in them if I remember correctly they are, Pride, Wrath, Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, and finally Sloth, but this is an oversimplification of it there are technically many many more evil things that Humanity can do but these are the primary, and what the overlord gauntlet does is takes the corrupted parts of any creature that you kill soul and pulls off all of the negative emotions off of them giving it to you along with a bit of their power, but don't worry their influence or memories don't go with them for example if you were a rage induced Overlord The Gauntlet would increase your anger over those that you despise, if you had a desire that drove you it would help you wanted it no matter how much it cost anyone else regardless the pain that would cause them." Gnarl said.
"How is this going to influence me? Because I'm not going to be your overlord if I'm just going to be someone's puppet being controlled by this thing!" Natsu said, holding up the gauntlet.
"you don't need to worry master, like I said they don't have their emotions or memories so all you get is the raw feelings of it, technically they can make you a little bit more angrier to those who wronged you but they also can make you more caring to those who you like or Lust For." Gnarl said.
Happy was shocked to see that his best friend wasn't affected by the fact that three people were killed by his hand, so to speak. He seemed to act as if nothing had happened. Then again, seeing that Natsu was becoming a Dark Mage, it wasn't surprising, but he thought that it would be quite some time before Natsu would get used to it. He realized that what happened to Natsu back at Fairy Tail affected his friend more than anyone thought. But it didn't matter to Happy, Natsu was his friend and father, he would never betray or leave him. He would be there for Natsu forever no matter what path his father took.
Once the brown lifeforce was absorbed into the Gauntlet, Gnarl spoke up and said, "that's not good master those filthy Halflings are trying to do something with the Nether Heart and it seems like they have a book about it somewhere here, I wonder what they have learned," as Gnarl looked around the room and saw all of this fancy furniture and priceless material along with these valuable books of information and said, "whoever this Everlue is he has good taste... Somewhat in at least priceless artifacts and items, Master you should call Shadow from the gate and call up the three Minions that you just acquired, Shadow is a green minion so you should probably cover your noses, he will start taking all of the items that are valuable here back to the netherworld to be sorted by me later to find out all the more valuable items.
Natsu didn't have a problem with this and not only called in the three new minions but also called in Shadow who came through the brown gate to everyone's surprise except for Gnarl, but it wasn't the fact that a green minion came through with the brown gate it was that he was on a giant spider that was almost three times bigger than happy.
Happy seeing the spider immediately flew behind Natsu who flamed up his fist ready to fight and protect his buddy, but the spider didn't move anywhere close to the two of them and given a moment they were able to look over the spider much more thoroughly seeing that it had a saddle on it back and each of its legs were carrying a backpack with the rider wearing all black with multiple backpacks with him.
"You don't need to be alarmed master this is shadow with his mount night, the two of them are one of our best item gatherers we can leave them here and they'll make sure everything in this room is transferred properly to the Tower if we managed to clear this whole building out of enemies he'll have plenty of time to send all of the items that this fat Halfling has back to our Tower." Gnarl said to calm the two.
With that said and done Natsu, happy and Gnarl left the library with the minions following behind, and as soon as they did they started to see giant statues of Everlue made out of gold and a few of the rooms that they checked were completely covered in gold with a golden toilet in one of them, " Master the horror using gold for such a degrading manner we need to liberate this gold and use it for its proper use serving you." Gnarl said as it looked like the Old minion master was very tempted to literally rip out the toilet and take it back to the portal.
But before he could do that Happy started to sniff the air and let out a long sigh saying, Natsu I'm hungry we haven't eaten since we left the guild and I can smell something tasty nearby.
Gnarl was about to say something to suggest that they didn't have time before he heard the overlord's stomach growl too and let out a annoyed grunt, "I guess it's true that I have kept you away from getting something to eat and it was a long trip, if you grab something from the kitchen quickly and we move from there it should be fine, the overlord shouldn't miss out on a meal it's unhealthy and an unhealthy Overlord is a week one, but I was kind of hoping that we would have this done and us back at the tower before this so he could have a proper meal one suited to an overlord.
With that said they followed Happy and Natsu who were sniffing the air trying to find out where the smell was coming from and to Gnarl's curiosity Natsu seem to be the better tracker with his nose and led them straight to the kitchen but before they could enter Gnarl stop them and said, " Master you shouldn't enter into a room without checking first," he said as he gently pushed open the door a crack and looked around and he was glad he did as he saw four of the biggest and fattest halflings in sometime, "AH I knew it the only difference in halflings are the cooks because they can eat more food they get much more fatter what makes it easier for them to reach the higher shelves to cook so they are put on the task and makes them even more fatter," he said in disgust.
As Natsu just frowned and said, "uhg I'm starting to hate this, the minions get to have all the fun and I have to sit back doing nothing while they get to fight the enemy!" he said in a huff.
A Gnarl looked at Natsu and said, " Master you can fight we are just servants to help you in your fight if you want you can have us sit back and cheer you on for all that it matters to us and I do not know what kind of magic you might use but given that you melted the glass heat sounds like a good guess, but you don't need to worry about accidentally roasting one of your minions the gauntlet identifies your magic to the minions and adjusted it so you can't hurt your own minions unless you really want to." Gnarl said, "for example you can use the minions too run in and hold the enemy down for you to launch your attack at them without having to fear about your minions getting in the way of your attacks or you could launch your attacks and while resting you can command your minions to finish off your opponents."
"Really?" Natsu said in Surprise with a wicked smile on his face as he raised up his hand and sent the minions inside where they immediately surrounded the four fat halflings who immediately tried to fight them off before Natsu kicked through the door and shouted, " my name is Natsu and I'm the overlord and you're about to face my power! FIRE DRAGON ROAR!" Natsu said as he said this, he put his hands before his mouth, in a pose resembling that of a trumpeter, before trying to release his fire, prompting it to be expelled between his fingers. The flames produced by this version start out as a very thin stream, enough to be fit between the user's fingers, before suddenly enlarging to strike his opponents.
The four halflings turned and saw the massive Fireball heading towards them but thanks to the minions stopping them from moving they didn't have enough time before they were hit by the flames and set on fire getting knocked back onto their backs, everyone could tell that Natsu didn't actually kill them given the fact that none of their life force left their bodies but that didn't matter in the long run as the eight minions jumped on to them and started to tear into them while they were still down killing them and releasing more of that concentrated evil along with two Brown Lifeforce each.
"That was very good master, but can I ask you a few questions now that the combat is over and the minions are gathering the life force for you," Gnarl said in curiosity as he stared at Natsu who looked like he had a triumphant smirk on his face.
"Sure Gnarl, what do you want to ask me?" Natsu said as he walked into the room and looked around for something to eat along with Happy, Happy looked a little uneasy with the four dead bodies but immediately shook it off trying to focus on something other than what had happened and finding a large fish what he immediately landed next to and started biting into and eating what made him feel more comfort.
"It's just a few things master, first off I don't mind you saying your name and calling out like that but do keep in mind that most overlords who flaunt the overlord title don't usually live long, but that is a minor thing the thing I really want to ask is that attack you used that was Dragon Slayer magic wasn't it? I haven't seen that kind of magic in over four hundred years. Where did you learn it?" Gnarl said with a growing well of curiosity to this new Overlord.
As both Happy and Natsu stared at Gnarl with their mouths open in Surprise what had accidently made Happy drop some of his food onto the ground before both of them said," FOUR HUNDRED YEARS! How old are you!"
as Gnarl close his eyes for a few minutes and said, I am very old master even I do not know how old I am now, you know you stop keeping track of such trivial things after the first century or two," he said with a chuckle before he started looking around and saw how interesting the kitchen looked, wow technology has surely advanced since the time I've been asleep Master if you don't mind while you eat I'm going to direct the minions to take this kitchen it should make it quite interesting and easier for us to cook more fancier food for you when we get back to the Tower it will only take me a bit, with that said he started to organize the eight minions who soon became sixteen after Natsu called in the new minions to help strip down the kitchen at a really impressive rate they even took all the food that Natsu and happy we're not eating.
"To answer your question Gnarl I learned it from my father who was the fire dragon king Igneel, I don't know where he is right now but that is one of my goals in life to find him and ask why he left me," as Natsu took on a much more darker tone and said, " but everyone in Fairy Tail says that dragons haven't existed in such a long time that they don't believe me and think I'm a liar," as Natsu looked at Gnarl with the same anger and said, " what about you are you going to tell me that I'm a foolish child who believes in dragons?"
"HAHA master I am a lowly servant I don't care if your dad was a dragon and your mother was a succubus... Actually I might care about that second one I once knew a succubus lovely lady until she got petrified and turned to stone what a shame," as he let out a sigh at the fond memory, "But to answer your question when we get back to the tower we can do that scan that you wanted and see what's really going on, you might have been trained by a dragon you might not have in my opinion master I've seen enough weird things in my very very long life that nothing will surprise me." Gnarl said with a wise man's tone.
After around thirty minutes of Natsu & happy eating, Gnarl call over Natsu and ask him, "master if I remember correctly you said fire dragon that means your power is fire, as he walks over to a gas burning stove that was starting to be lifted up and pulled out of the wall carefully, if that is correct do you mind setting the gas pipe here on fire after we remove this item, it would be very funny to watch the minions burn but we have very few so please wait until they're out of the way this way you can get some more fire into you and recharge your flames."
"OK, I'm actually quite surprised that you knew about that most people don't actually know that I can eat fire?" Natsu said in Surprise, before he waited until they got the stove out of the way and set a small Spark causing the stove gas to explode in fire, which he immediately started to consume before it could reach anyone else, "Huum... Now I've got a fire in my belly!"
"Hum that's good to hear my master, when we get back to the tower I suggest we try finding the Reds, if you can recharge your magic with fire they are the perfect support and long-range attackers that can help you with your domination of the world," Gnarl said as he finished up transporting all of the items and food from the kitchen to the portal and just in time as they heard over the loudspeakers in the mansion.
"Where the hell are you halflings, I sent you down to find that book ages ago and you haven't come back, you better not have taken a side trip to the kitchen and stuffed your greedy mouths while I'm on the verge of becoming the next Overlord! Or I guarantee you the first person I show my unbridled Wrath to will be you three!" Everlue said in a haughtily tone, " how long does it take to get to the Library and back to the gala? I mean sure they're on opposite sides of the house but it shouldn't take this long!" he said in an angry tone not noticing that he just gave his location away.
"Well master it looks like the fool is getting impatient. We should get ready to show him who is really in charge and acquire your heart back." Gnarl said.
The chamber that Natsu and the other's were walking through was full of items, books, weapons, statues and other rare and interesting stuff, and as they walked through the chamber, they soon came across the Nether Heart. It was surrounded by Everlue and his five maids, along with twenty or so Halflings, and Natsu heard Everlue say, "After more then four hundred years, I, Everlue, the descendant of Melvin the Small, have the Nether Heart, something our family has been searching for since The Overlord of the time killed him. Now we'll never have to worry about any Overlord, nor those who will want to go against us ever again! With this power we can finally take back the power that my ancestors had and rule the world."
"You gotta be kidding me that fat halfling is a descendant of that putrid waste of flesh?" Gnarl said in quiet surprise before an evil smile came over his face, "Master this might turn out better than we thought."
There were cheers at this, Natsu's plan was to wait, it wasn't his normal plan of attack, but he still didn't know what he was up against, if it was just the Halflings like before then he could just walk in and burn them all down, but Gnarl said that there was Magic here, so it had to be form one of them right? At the moment he was trying to become someone who thought before acting, as that was how he made so much damage before.
But it didn't go as planned. At first Happy was flying making to sure not to cause any trouble but after hearing what Everlue planned to do, Happy accidentally flapped his wings what caused him to shift backwards a bit what nearly made him run into a suit of armor crashing it down and making too much noise giving their location away but before that could happen, Gnarl quickly grabbed Happy by his tail and yanked him down preventing him from hitting the armor but not softly enough to keep the cat from yelping from the sudden tug, Gnarl was quick to cover his mouth but not before they heard, "Who's there?!" Everlue shouted trying to find out if there was an intruder or if it was his halfling's with the book.
"Happy!" Natsu whispered to his buddy, annoyed at the fact they were found out. His son should be more careful about his surroundings. At least Gnarl tried to help by stopping him from hitting the armor, but now he needs to think of something quickly. But before Natsu could, he heard Everlue quickly whisper for five of his Halflings to go and check it out, so with barely any time to think he quickly grabbed happy an Gnarl and move back well willing his minions to hold still like a statue well he hid behind a suit of armor, the five halflings entered into the corridor not seeing anything at first as they moved down and before they knew it the five of them were jumped by the Sixteen minions surrounding them.
The Halflings fought back, but, in the Sixteen on five fight, the Minions came out victorious. The lifeforce of the Halflings appeared, signifying that they were indeed dead.
With his current plan falling apart, he first look at Happy and Gnarl and said, "Happy stay here with Gnarl, Gnarl keep my son safe or else, I will not have him dying or getting hurt in this fight!" Natsu said with a fire in his voice, as Natsu did what he did best. He jumped straight into the fray, challenging Everlue, "Hey! I'm taking the Nether Heart!" Fire burst from his fists, and he brutally downed another three halflings. Their lifeforce wasn't released, showing Natsu had not actually finished them. The Minions soon took care of that, smashing the defenseless bodies until they barely resembled bodies at all.
"Just who are you to demand my most prized possession?" Everlue, in his usual 'holier-than-thou' voice, questioned.
Natsu smirked, and held up his arm, prominently displaying his new Gauntlet, and not revealing who he really was, said, "I think you mean my most prized possession. I'm the Overlord, and I'm here for my Heart."
At this, Everlue visibly reddened, anger overtaking him, he couldn't believe it, he thought there were no more Overlords. He thought that without the Nether Heart, there would be no more Overlords, or if there were, there wouldn't be one for some time. He wasn't going to let some pink-haired Punk who got lucky enough to find the gauntlet come in here and stop him from his destiny, he had betrayed and backstabbed way too many people to get to this place just to be outdone by a snot-nosed Punk, "Get him! And bring me that gauntlet." Everlue didn't need to say more, as the remaining Halflings, along with the pink-haired maid, charged at Natsu, wielding whatever happened to be near as a weapon, as for the other maids they ran and hid in a corner.
Natsu simply willed for the Minions to join him in the fight, and they too jumped in eagerly, taking on the enemy of the master. The Minions were winning the fight quite easily thanks to the fact that they outnumbered Everlue's forces and that Natsu was helping them fight against the halflings, who fell to Natsu and the Minions, the familiar brown material appearing above them as they were cut down. However, the Minions were not unscathed, as one of them was stabbed and slashed to death while another one disappeared down a hole that the pink-haired maid made. regardless of that the minions plus Natsu were able to take out all of the other halflings but the pink-haired maid cost Natsu some issues when she did a body slam to him making everyone cry out his name in shock for a few moments before Natsu struggled and lifted her up and tossed her into the air before giving her a powerful kick to the face with his fire dragon Talon knocking her to the ground but not killing her out right unlike the other halflings whose life force was quickly absorbed into the gauntlet.
"Well look here small fry, it seems that i'm the winner of his little fight so unless you want to end up like your servant's I suggest you back down now and let me take my prized possession back," Natsu said with a cocky smile as his minions delivered the life force of the halflings to him and he noticed that their small injuries were starting to heal up at a quite impressive rate, and he thought to himself, I'm going to have to ask Gnarl about that and why they don't look like they're very tired.
"Why you snot-nosed Punk, I refuse to let this end like this! He proclaimed as he ran over to a blue pillar like object and placed one hand on it what started to Glow a dark blue color as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a golden key and pointed it at the pink-haired maid, " Virgo get your ass up right this second and take care of that punk, I don't care how you do it! Everlue yelled out in an angry tone as the blue energy went into the key and made it Shine golden as it looked like the pink haired Maid's injuries started to heal up and almost in a Flash she was back on her feet looking even stronger than before.
"Yes my master, can I be punished afterwards?" She said as she jumped up and immediately dived into the ground disappearing.
as Gnarl was peeking around the corner watching the whole display still holding happy not wanting the pesky Kitty to get in his master's way what happy was content not to do and didn't bother to struggle, Gnarl saw what Everlue did and his eyes widen then narrowed and anger as he yelled, "master that is a Mana pillar it will restore the energy of the user, it is one of the item that was stolen from our Tower long ago the fat halfling is using it to restore his energy and sending it into the key, I think it's the source of magic I sent earlier be careful it could be quite dangerous I have a feeling I know what it is but I would need a closer examination of it try to bring it back in one piece."
As Everlue heard this being shouted at the kid, he immediately got angrier that his little trick was found out so quickly and for the fact that that filthy minion called him fat, in his anger he used his diver Magic and went into the ground and quickly grabbed a sword and without any hesitation popped up right behind the very old looking Minion holding a blue cat, and with an evil smile he said, "how dare you, you filthy mutt die here with your pretend Overlord!" he said as he thrust his sword straight at Gnarl and at the Blue cat.
As this was going on Natsu was trying to dodge the newly empowered Virgo who wasn't doing much damage but was making it hard for him to launch any kind of counter-attack thanks to her constantly diving back into the ground and almost causing more pitfalls around him what seemed to get three more of his minions making him have to move them away from himself just to keep them safe what made him very annoyed at this fight, until his sharp hearing heard what Everlue said and he quickly turned just to see to his horror Everlue right behind Gnarl and happy who was still being held by Gnarl both of them quickly turn around but as soon as they did Everlue quickly thrusted a sword right in to them with the blade sticking out from Gnarl's back, from Natsu's vantage point he could literally see the black blood from Gnarl and could hear the terrified scream of Happy.
As soon as this happened Natsu's heart stop and his blood started to boil at what he saw, he took one hesitant step forward towards Gnarl and happy to see what he could do to help but before he could take his next step Virgo seeing a perfect opportunity immediately jumped out of the ground and launched a powerful kick straight at his face what made it start to bleed but other than shifting his head to the side a bit Natsu didn't move and with speed that she barely could even recognize he reached up with his hand and grabbed her leg and with a terrifying look that chilled her to her bones he stared at her with his slitted red eyes and without a word set his fist a flame but it wasn't the original orange coloring that it usually was this flame was different it was a slight red color then it usually was what made Virgo scream out in agony as the Flames traveled up her body scorching her from the outside in until he dropped her, her body just kept on burning her to her bones, she let out a painful horrified scream has the flames rack her body starting to turn completely black from all the burn marks on her body, as she was suffering a full body burn of a fifth degree burn.
While that was happening we turn to Gnarl at the same time this was happening to get his reaction, as Everlue quickly popped up behind Gnarl he wasn't surprised by this amateur move, Gnarl knew that anger could be used to greatly benefit someone when it's properly channeled but it also can cloud people's judgement and make them do foolish things, as Gnarl quickly turned around and saw Everlue thrusting the blade straight at him he had more than enough time to move Happy slightly to the right, making the blade miss him by just a hair's length but stabbing right into Gnarl.
While that was happening, Happy nearly had a heart attack as he saw the blade mere inches from his face and could hear the sickening sound of the blade piercing right through Gnarl making a horrible feeling churn into his gut knowing that it was his fault that this all happened if he would have just paid a little bit more attention to where he was, before Happy could do or say anything other than let out a terrified scream to his surprise he heard Gnarl start to chuckle.
As Gnarl started to chuckle what snapped Natsu out of his anger, Happy out of his troubled and terrified thoughts and wiped the smirk off of Everlue, as with one quick motion of Gnarl's freehand he quickly hit Everlue in the hand making him let go of the sword and without any hesitation Gnarl quickly grabbed it and pulled it out of himself just to slash it across Everlue leaving him with a severe injury what he had to use his diver magic to get away from the two of them.
Natsu without any hesitation quickly ran over to the two of them and now getting a good look he could see that happy was perfectly fine still being held by Gnarl with his tail in between his legs staring at Gnarl with a mixture of fear and Terror, well Gnarl looked like he was having an amusing time, "what happened are you two okay?!" Natsu inquired in a frantic tone.
What Gnarl immediately turned his gaze to Natsu and snapped at him, "Master us minions are willing to die for you and I just gave him a critical hit. Do not let him Escape while he is injured and weak!" Gnarl said in a firm tone, as happy looked ill still but just shakily nodded his head at this.
"Okay?" Natsu said looking confused at what just happened but knowing that happy was safe and Gnarl wasn't dead was good enough for him to quickly look around and try and find Everlue what didn't take long as he saw him emerge right next to a red pillar that looked like the previous blue one still covering his bloody gash looking quite pale but as soon as he touched the pillar a red energy started to flow into him and to Natsu's shock he could literally see his injuries starting to knit themselves back together, "WHAT THE HELL?!" he exclaimed looking confused at what he was seeing.
"Gurr, master that is called a recovery pillar it's another one of the items that was stolen from our Tower, it is supposed to allow the overlord to regenerate health at a rapid pace while they hold on to it like he is doing but it comes with harsh consequences if it's used that way, it will drain you of your magic and overall stamina but put you back in the fight with all your health back, the Mana one has a problem too by sacrificing your overall health you can restore your magical energy at a rapid pace by doing that basically making you an Immortal if you use both of them in a combination next to each other, Gnarl said, with Everlue hearing this and smiling evilly as he said.
"Hahaha that's right with your very own items I will defeat you and become an immortal God that will rule over this world! Everlue said as he could feel the exhaustion and lack of energy from his health being fully restored by the object what made him quickly move over to the other pillar and grab it restoring his magic but making him look less healthy as he held out the golden key again and said, Virgo get your lazy ass up and help me right now or I swear I will punish you!" as they all saw that the Key started to Glow but Virgo did not move off the ground even though her body was glowing gold the injuries that she had didn't look like they were fading. As Everlue tried to pour even more power into it, making him look worse and worse by every second until they saw a small patch on Virgos' hands start to push back some of the black but barely.
At this point Gnarl realized what was going on somehow the new Master use a fire attack while he was not looking that burnt this girl so badly that whatever Everlue was trying to do to heal her it was working but slowly, this just made Gnarl more curious about what kind of power could do this to a creature like her, he had his hunch about what she truly was.
As Everlue tried to push even more energy into her no matter how much he pushed into Virgo, she didn't get back up and Everlue looked quite worse for the wear, because he didn't understanding why she was still down, he decided to just close her gate and put the key away and growled angrily as he grabbed another sword off the wall next to him, "fine I don't need her to finish off you weaklings."
Natsu didn't know why Gnarl said that out loud for Everlue to hear but when he saw how he started to get weaker and look more ill, he figured there had to be a problem with doing something like that and figured that evil lies so guessing that Gnarl was lying about that immortality thing to get him to use them incorrectly or something like that, Natsu wasn't really paying attention to it while he was trying to figure out how to defeat Everlue who jumped back into the ground, unlike Virgo he didn't seem like he had too much power behind his punches but with a sword that changed the matter quite a bit making it a more dangerous aspect if he attack, so he stayed on guard listening for anything, ready to attack at a moment's notice, what Everlue was expecting and had a hole appeared right behind Natsu what made him immediately launched a fire dragon claw where he figured that Everlue was going to pop up, but instead Everlue popped out of a different hole right behind Natsu with his sword immediately going straight for Natsu back, what Natsu only dodged by making his fire dragon claw extend fire out of it to get himself push upwards barely getting his leg nipped by the blade and growling angrily at the almost fatal attack before he got back onto his feet still looking around and growling at having to be more cautious now knowing that he was going to set traps.
Happy finally squirmed free from Gnarl's grip and asked him if he was okay, as he looked at the minion master's stab wound, what Gnarl just brushed off as he drop the sword and replied back, "I am a servant of the overlord as long as evil exist me and the overlord can never be truly wiped from this world so there's no need to worry about me what you should be more worried about is our young Overlord, I might have said that out loud for Everlue to hear but what I didn't tell him was that, using the items in that kind of way is a self destructive manner sure you'll become immortal but y'all become an Immortal statue because you won't be able to leave that spot ever again, the Mana pillar will sap the Vitality right out of someone leaving them A Worn husk of themself after you use it too long like that, while the regeneration pillar will restore you to your maximum health but it won't give you back what the other one takes and it will drain you of your magical and physical stamina leaving you unable to use any magic or move a single muscle if it's used too long, in other words you'll be immortal, an immortally Damned fool!" he said with an evil chuckle.
As both of them watched as Everlue and Natsu kept on dodging and attacking each other until Natsu thought of a way to get Everlue angry enough to do something stupid using the Minions that he had and swept them over to the three objects, the Nether Heart and the two pillars and had them lift them up and quickly try and take them out of the room and back to the Tower, seeing this Everlue got extremely angry as he quickly tried to attack the minions buy popping in next to one and was about to stab at him before a torrent of flames nearly roasted his arm off as the minions were engulfed in flames but after a second the minions came out of the fire further away from Everlue as they walked through the Flames like they were nothing while Everlue was raging angrily knowing that if he tried to attack the minions Natsu would attack him making him have to dive back underground before Natsu could realign his attack, figuring that he had to get rid of Natsu before he could get his precious items back he came up with a clever plan.
As Natsu frowned at the fact that he missed Everlue just by a slight margin and tried to realign his attack to get him before he dived underground again making him have to tense up and expect another attack and to Natsu's annoyance another hole popped up behind him, Natsu quickly turned around with only one fist pointing in that direction while the other one was still facing the direction he was in in case of an ambush like before, and like he expected nothing came out of that hole but the side that he was figuring that Everlue was going to attack from another hole popped up there and something came out quickly straight at Natsu and without any hesitation Natsu launched a powerful firefist right into it punching right through it, and to his shock and disgust it was a bronze statue of Everlue what he melted right through with his fist getting it all stuck on him temporarily, and to his shock he heard happy cry out an alarm, "NATSU LOOK OUT!" as soon as he heard this immediately looked around the ground and behind him trying to find out where the attack was coming from but he didn't see anything at all until he noticed below him that a big Shadow was looming over him, he quickly turned up seeing only a few feet away from driving a very sharp-looking sword towards Natsu, even with all of his Speed and Agility at this close range there was nothing he could do to dodge this attack and just hope that he could deflect most of it, maybe with the Statue to lessen the damage.
At that moment where Everlue was mere inches from his victory he smiled evilly as he saw the pathetic kid try to block his attack with the Statue, Everlue literally just had to send a little bit of his magic into his sword and it would pass right through that statue like it wasn't even there and this kid would be done with and he would move on to claiming his Birthright! As he was just mere inches from impaling the boy and his sword was already starting to quickly part the statue away from it a sudden Force hit Everlue in the stomach like a cannonball, a sharp and painful cannonball as he was knocked to the ground mere inches away from Natsu.
As everyone looked to see what happened they saw to their surprise happy standing over Everlue with a sword in his hand stabbed right into Everlue's stomach with happy screaming out, "I will not let you kill my father!" with tears in his Eyes but a serious expression on his face.
A few moments ago as both happy and Gnarl watched as Everlue get closer and closer to Natsu with him looking like he wasn't able to get out of the way in time happy screamed out to his father trying to warn him but seeing that it was too late, time seemed to slow down for happy as he quickly grabbed the first thing he could see what happened to be the sword that Everlue himself tried to use on Gnarl and even a conscious thought passing through his head his body reacted on autopilot happy used his magic to call forth his wings and almost moving at the speed of sound happy shot off like a Canon and crashed right into Everlue plunging the sword right into him.
Back at the present both Natsu and Gnarl were surprised at what happy had just done but before anyone could say anything something weird started to happen to Everlue as his body seemed to bloat and boil with some kind of energy inside him which immediately released itself with the stab wound in him exploding outward covering happy and Natsu with muck as 5 Brown life force orbs appeared along with five blue ones, from the center of the explosion where Everlue was both happy and Natsu saw a black smoke like substance what they remembered was concentrated evil pour out of it and cover happy before getting sucked into the overlord gauntlet, at first it didn't look like it did anything to happy until happy fell to his knees and started to cry even harder muttering, "I.. I.. Just killed someone! I just killed someone," as happy just broke down crying in the middle of the room.
Natsu didn't waste a second as he walked over and picked up his son and carried him over to Gnarl.
"Excellent work master, I knew you could do it." Gnarl congratulated Natsu, "Now that we have the Nether Heart, not only can we leave this God forsaken place, but we have the Heart that'll allow us to start fixing up the Nether Tower and the rest of the Netherworld." Then seeing the crying Happy in the Overlord's arms, he asked, "What's wrong with him?" Gnarl asked, not really caring.
"He had just killed someone for the first time." Natsu explained as he held Happy close to him, "He isn't used to it, and needs to come to terms with it."
"And you're not bothered about killing?" The Minion Master asked with honest interest, wanting to know if he was going to become a problem or not, when it came to killing.
"I was taught to kill, mainly dragons of course," Natsu said in a matter of fact tone, "but my father taught me it was kill or be killed. So if someone attacked me, I could kill them I just haven't been doing it for the past four years because it was frowned upon at the Fairy Tail Guild Hall, that's why my attacks are so wide-scale and destructive I had to disperse most of my attacks for some reason because they are way too powerful nowadays."
Gnarl didn't say anything just yet about this, but whilst he was glad about The new Overlord knowing how to kill he had to frown about the logic behind it, because without the malice and hatred behind it it isn't evil in Gnarl eyes to kill, because you have to have fun in killing or there's no point in it, also the idea of being taught how to kill a dragon was somewhat confusing. As far as he knew, the last lot of fire breathers were killed about a few hundred years ago, by now they were all extinct. So the old minion had to wonder who taught him how to fight dragons, and why. Considering there were not anymore around to actually kill. Gnarl really had to find out more about this new Overlord, as a few things about him didn't really make any sense - but that was for later. For now they had to return to the Nether Tower before anyone learned about what happened at the mansion. "Master, whilst it might be upsetting for your friend about killing, I think we should leave now before someone from the town comes by. We don't want them to find us here and find the Lord of the place dead as well."
"You're right, We need to get out of here," as Natsu looked at all of the priceless treasures and asked," how long would it take for the minions to gather all of this stuff? I don't want to leave Happy's side right now, while he needs me.
As Gnarl looked disappointed at Happy before saying in a polite tone towards Natsu, "with all the life force here we should have this place stripped in two hours tops of anything valuable so you can go back to the portal room and comfort the cat."
As Natsu was about to reply back before his whole body shivered and his body glowed both red and blue as the gauntlet hummed with power, "what the hell was that?" Natsu said, looking at himself, what made Happy look at his father with tearful eyes and ask, "is there something wrong?"
As Gnarl just wave them off and said, the nether heart and the pillars must have been placed on the portal and been transferred to their rightful locations he's just getting the power from them now, Gnarl said as both happy and Gnarl could see that Natsu's injuries were starting to heal up and the magic that he spent was starting to return to him slowly, but he didn't seem to care as he just found a chair and sat down petting his friend trying to calm him down.
After two hours of Gnarl stripping down the place with the help of the other minions of everything of value including all of the books in the library, anything that was made of gold and finally everything in his personal treasure room and study, Gnarl smiled at how much they had looted from this one halfling as he and Natsu with happy went into the portal to take them to the nether deep leaving behind multiple dead bodies and the signs of combat but the whole place looted of any evidence of Natsu and who was there and with the portal collapsing onto itself no one would know that the overlord had made his first steps at his triumphant return!

Overlord Items:
Spell Stones: Got a few spell from Overlord that I'll use, but Keep in mind that some of the spells are similar to each other so I will be removing or keeping only the stronger one and just because he has it doesn't mean he's going to use it, but I could use some other ideas on spells here.
Mana Pillars: Instead of giving the user magic it's going to give him a slow regeneration of Mana allowing him to regenerate his magic at a much faster Pace than normal, allowing him to use much more spells.
Health Pillars: Is going to be used as a regeneration ability slowly healing our Overlord overtime instead of increasing his health.
Minion Totems: Not going to appear in the story, Because I don't like the idea that a overlord what do you limited on how many followers he could command at what time, but at the same time I'm not going to have him controlling hundreds of hundreds of minions he's going to have to build up to those numbers over time as he gets stronger better at controlling his power and the minions.
Tower Heart: To follow the Followship of Evil, the Heart will now be called Nether Heart.
Tower Smelters: Unlike the games, the first Smelter will still be at the tower.
Minion Hives:
Brown Hive: Like in the game it'll be in the tower.
Red Hive: Like the game not in the tower.
Green Hive: Like the game not in the tower.
Blue Hive: Like the game not in the tower.
Fifth degree burns result in all the skin and most of the muscle layer and ligaments in the area burned away. It is not uncommon to see charred bone in a fifth-degree burn. Char results when the oxygen and hydrogen in the skin burns. When char is present, the wound requires a graft and will leave a permanent scar.
in the next two chapters I'm going to introduce everyone to the netherworld then we're going to have a 3-year time skip what will put us at the beginning of the Fairy Tail series and I'm hoping to Travel down the same arcs that the original series did just this time with Natsu being the overlord with happy being his helper, if you have any ideas on some of the events that should happen and some of the things that could have changed within the three year what happened with Fairy Tail I would appreciate hearing about it after the next chapter I'm going to take a long break trying to figure out where I want to take you the story and how I want to give us there I have a few chapters already done but any comments or opinions could help add or remove some items from it, also if you just going to come up with ideas for girls that should join Natsu's harem I like to point out that in Overlord the maximum amount of girls that ever joined your harem is around 5, so we're not going to have 20 or 70 girls joining Natsu and Happy's harem, some of them can be slaves or sex toys not all of them have to all be part of his harem, and please don't just write down a girl's name or a guy's name try to explain how they could join or why should they join his harem?
