Chapter 7 - Meta Knightmare Classroom
The morning sun was shining, slowly peeking over the horizon as the birds (and a few ducks, strangely) started chirping.
Inside the dorm rooms of Beacon Academy, Weiss Schnee slept soundly, peacefully recovering from fatigue and ache from having to deal with a giant killer cartoon armadillo trying to kidnap her partner…
Without context, that sounds sort of weird, doesn't it.
Unfortunately for Weiss and the rest of RWBY, this peace would not last. A demon had infiltrated their dorm room last night. A demon of unspeakable power. A demon… that will do everything in his power to annoy the ever-loving shit out of them.
"HEY! WAKE UP, YA LAZY LUGS! IT'S A SCHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO–"
Now Playing… Fawful is There (Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story)
"Oh, shut the HELL UP!" Yang shouted, grabbing Crescent Rose and tossing it towards the jester. Marx, with a big grin on his face, jumped over the piece of metal as it careened towards him. The folded weapon was embedded next to Weiss' head, mere inches away from her. The heiress let out of shriek of terror as Marx cackled loudly, bouncing up and down on his beach ball.
"What's the matter? Somebody's gotta make sure that youse are all responsible adults! Seriously, have ya seen the smut Blake reads? Shit's got more kinks than–!"
"It's not smut!" Blake screeched, still dressed in her pajamas, only this time she was wearing a black hat instead of her traditional bow. "And give me back my bow!" She leapt at him, only for Marx to jump off his ball and kick it. It ricocheted off the walls and landed on Blake's head, knocking her off course.
"What bow? Oh, you mean this one?" Marx asked rhetorically, looking down at the black bow he was wearing. "Finders keepers! My bow is stuck in the laundry, and I need a replacement in order to preserve my iconic appearance! And besides, it's not my fault you keep only one bow!"
"You only have one bow as well!"
"Sounds like a you problem!" Marx cackled.
"That argument doesn't even make sense!" Blake shouted back.
"Guys! Guys! Can't we all just calm down, and have a nice, peaceful morning?" Ruby asked, struggling to get her weapon out of the wall.
"Ehh, nah. I don't really feeeeeeel like it," Marx says matter-of-factly. The girls all glared at him menacingly, Yang reaching for her gauntlets and pounding her fists together as her vision, eyes and face turned red.
"...Fine. Fine! I can tell when I'm not wanted!" Marx said, making his voice crack to sound like he was starting to cry. "Good day, sir!" Marx started bawling loudly, and he grew a pair of golden wings with multicolored hexagons to fly out the window.
"I just can't be with that guy…" Yang mutters, pinching her eyelids together. "We should have never listened to you," She says, waving her arm towards Weiss.
"What do you mean? I, for one, am glad that Marx decided to wake us up all early. Now we can plan all activities for the next month!" Ruby and Yang groaned in unison. "And besides, Marx behaved himself last night. E-eventually…" She said, wincing slightly at the glares pointing directly at her.
"He replaced my shampoo with Earth Dust!" Yang shouted, shaking her hair so that clumps of dirt the size of baseballs fell out.
"Marx messed with Crescent Rose. All it does is shoot bubbles!" Ruby sobbed, pointing the weapon at Weiss and assaulting her with harmless spheres of soap.
"And he switched up the covers of my books!" Blake cried.
"What? Can't tell which books have which kinks anymore?"
"IT'S NOT SMUT!"
"Yang, what's 'smut?'"
"Not important!"
Weiss sighed. "You know what, I think we all just need to calm down, for just a bit. Blake, can you make tea?" The black haired girl nodded. "Perfect! Let's all just take a hot shower and drink a nice cup of tea. I'm sure we'll all feel much, much better after that!" Weiss said, picking up a towel and walking towards the bathroom.
The second she opened the door, a mountain of beach balls fell out, covering the heiress from head to toe.
"MAAAAAAAAAAAAARX!"

Now Playing… The Light Realm: Prologue (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)
"Hey guys! How's it– Woah, what happened last night?" Nora asked.
Team RWBY looked visibly tired and emotionally exhausted. Blake wore a red bow instead of a black one, Weiss had light bruises on her face, Yang's hair was caked in dirt, and Ruby had tears flowing from her eyes and bubbles shooting out from her rifle.
"The less you knew, the better," Yang grumbled, sitting on the cafeteria table with a thud and angrily chewing on the pancakes.
"...Chef Kawasaki made these, didn't he?" She asked. The eyes on the rest of her team sparkled, and they happily ate through their breakfast.
After finishing, the two teams started wandering the halls of the school, trying to find their first class of the day.
"What's the first thing on the chopping block?" Ruby asked, struggling to look over Ren's shoulder to see their schedule.
"Interesting… It says here that our first class is with Meta Knight." Pyrrha says. "And it's in a place called… The Colosseum?"
"I'll check the map," Blake said, taking out her scroll. "Huh, that wasn't there two days ago."
"Ooo, can I see?" Nora asked, swiping the device from Blake.
"Hey, you're pretty chummy with the Waddle Dees, right? Did they ever tell you who Meta Knight was?" Yang asked Weiss.
"A little bit. He's the leader of Pop Star's military force, aptly named the Meta-Knights, spelled with a hyphen by the way. Whenever Kirby isn't around, they usually go to him for help or Dream Land's king, Dedede, for help," Weiss explained.
"I didn't know Dream Land had a king," Jaune yawned. He seemed to have bags under his eyes, which themselves were slightly bloodshot.
"That topic is a mess in its own right. Apparently, the king has a habit of getting possessed every other weekend. They said that so nonchalantly, I can't tell if they were being serious or joking. Anyways, Meta Knight is one of Dream Land's strongest warriors, and has helped Kirby on several adventures," Weiss continued. "So, what happened to the school's map?"
"Waddle Dees, that's what!" Nora exclaimed, grabbing Ren's wrist and dragging him alongside her. Ren sighed and waved goodbye as the two disappeared around the corner.
"Waddle Dees?" Pyrrha picked up the scroll and looked at the screen. "Wow, they work fast…" She mumbled, handing it back to Blake.
"What? Did they build an entire town in the span of two, maybe three days?" Yang joked, placing her hands behind head as Blake and Pyrrha gave her a deadpanned.
"Wait… seriously?!"
"It should be right around the corner…" Jaune said.
Fade In - A Thriving, Peaceful Town (Kirby and the Forgotten Land)
RWBY and JP were met face to face with the smallest town that they had ever seen. Literally. The smallest buildings were log cabins made from trees harvested from Forever Fall, and about as tall as Jaune when he wasn't slouching. Homes and other establishments were built into small hills or situated in trees with wide branches. To the north of the town, there was a small fishing hole that housed both koi and Blippers.
Off to the south, there was a small grocery store selling crops that were exclusive to Dream Land, a few stalls that offered carnival games such as "Tilt-&-Roll Kirby," and a few Gachapon Machines tucked away in the corner. Sadly, they were only capable of taking Star Coins for the time being. Additionally, there was also a blacksmith shop with a door specifically made for humans. Slightly above the shop, Dyna Blade had made a nest for herself and her chicks. There were also two ducks that were living with them.
Dyna Blade looked down and looked at Weiss and Ruby. She cawed, and then went back to her chicks.
Next to it was a café with Waddle Dees wearing cute brown aprons and hats, serving delicacies to both various Pop Star inhabitants and even a few Beacon upperclassmen, and a movie theater a couple paces away.
And in the center of the town was a large, roman-styled colosseum. The entrance had the symbol of the Meta-Knights inside a shield and two swords crossed in front of it. Next to it was an empty booth, with a sign which read: "THE ARENA! ALL PARTICIPANTS WELCOME! WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR EXTREME PAIN, MENTALLY SCARRING IMAGERY, DEATH, OR DEATOMIZATION!"
"Oh my gods this place is adorable," Weiss breathed. She looked down and spotted a Waddle Dee staring up at her, with a sippy cup in his hands. "How in the world did you manage to build all of this in two days?!"
"I dunno," The Waddle Dee shrugged. "We were bored, I guess?" After that half-hearted explanation, he took a long, long, obnoxiously loud sip from his cup, and just stared. "You're Beacon students, right?" He asked, taking another loud sip. "Meta Knight's class starts in about *SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP* ten minutes, so you can explore the town *SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP* if you guys want. *SIP*" The Waddle Dee with the sippy cup walked away, waving goodbye.
"Well, he was certainly a character," Weiss muttered.
"They sure seem to be taking this 'trapped in another dimension' situation in stride," Pyrrha says, shaking Jaune's shoulder to keep him awake. "Then again, they have gone through a similar situation only a few weeks ago…"
"Pyrrha? Did you say something?" Jaune asked.
"Perhaps we should get some coffee from the cafe," Pyrrha quickly said, leading him to the establishment. "We can't have our fearless leader sleeping during class."
"Yeah, sounds like a good idea."
"Welp, I'm going to the blacksmith! I still need to fix Crescent Rose…" Ruby said, dragging Weiss along with her.
"Wait, why do I have to go? My weapon doesn't need maintenance!" The heiress complained.
"Because you're my partner?" Ruby plainly said.
"She's too shy to talk to the blacksmith alone," Yang translated, ignoring the scathing look from Ruby. "Just make sure she doesn't scare the little guy off! Me and Blake are gonna go try out some games!"
"Don't I get a say in this?"
"Nope! See ya guys later!" Yang exclaimed, tugging on Blake's arm.
Once they left, Ruby and Weiss entered the blacksmith shop, using the large doors to enter.
A Thriving, Peaceful Town - Fade Out
Now Playing - Waddle Dee's Weapons Shop
The bell chimed as Ruby opened the door, cautiously taking a step forward so as to not disturb anyone inside.
The first thing the girls noticed were the mannequins shaped like Kirby. Each of them wore different hats. Ruby recognized the Ranger, Fire, and Stone abilities off to the side, along with a bunch of other hats that she couldn't recognize.
"See! I told you he can use a gun!" Ruby said, pointing to Ranger's blunderbuss.
"That's just a mannequin," Weiss noted.
"Oh, customers!" A rather gruff voice said. A chair slid to the front counter. Sitting atop it was a Waddle Dee, covered in soot and wearing a black helmet and goggles, with a black apron wrapped around his body. In his hands, there was another mannequin, this time with the Petal Ability's cloak.
"Welcome to Waddle Dee's Weapons Shop!" Weapon Shop Waddle Dee said. "I work with all kinds of weapons and copy abilities! It's kind of my thing. So, what can I do for ya?" The shopkeep asked.
"Good morning. My name is Weiss Schnee, and this is my partner, Ruby Rose." Ruby gave a small wave. "Somebody messed with her weapon, and we were wondering if you would be able to fix it before class starts?"
"A broken weapon, huh? What seems to be the problem?"
"Ah, well… It can only shoot bubbles now…" Ruby muttered, placing Crescent Rose on the blacksmith's desk.
"Okay…" He said, putting on his goggles and inspecting the weapon from top to bottom. "And I assume this isn't because you have water dust loaded in?" Ruby shook her head. "No, I just loaded it with fire bullets this morning."
The blacksmith nodded. He cocked the gun, something that Ruby and Weiss found strangely cute and unsettling, and proceeded to pull the trigger. The bubbles floated harmlessly over his head.
"Did anybody come into your room this morning? Maybe pull any pranks and generally be loud and annoying? Has a jester hat and gold wings?"
Ruby blinked. "That's all oddly specific? But yeah, a guy named Marx stayed the night with us, and he pulled a lot of pranks."
"I see. Unfortunately, your scythe is unfixable!" The Blacksmith exclaimed, handing back it to Ruby.
"WHAT?!" Ruby shrieked, absolutely mortified.
"But, you haven't even taken the weapon apart, much less actually looked inside!" Weiss exclaimed. Ruby nearly fainted at the mention of taking Crescent Rose apart.
"Sorry about that. I wish I could help you, but Marx's magic is pretty tough to uncurse. The best I can do is recommend you see Hyness, but he's still recovering from the Halberd's crash." The backsmith said apologetically.
"My life is meaningless… Why Marx… WHYYYYYYYYYYYY!" Ruby's face turned even paler than Weiss', and then collapsed face first on the floor.
"Wait, magic? Strange, I thought magic doesn't exist…" Weiss muttered.
"Different dimensions, different rules. On Dream Land, We've got floating pieces of land, bottomless pits, and our planet is shaped like a star. Our world is wildly different from Remnant, so it stands to reason that we have some things that you guys don't," The blacksmith reasoned.
"I suppose that makes sense… Back on topic, that means Ruby's stuck with a weapon that can only shoot bubbles for the foreseeable future?" Weiss cautiously asked, trying her best to comfort Ruby.
"Pretty much. I have some spare weapons in the back. You can take a look and pick something you like, until I can find a way to de-curse your weapon."
"Nothing can replace my baby!" Ruby wailed, rocking back and forth in the fetal position.
"I understand, but having no weapon in a school designed to teach kids how to fight monsters isn't exactly a recipe for success. It's better to have something on you, even if it's small, so that you can at least have something to fight back with," the Waddle Dee gently told her. He moved to the back of his shop, gesturing for Weiss to follow. She dragged Ruby along by her cloak, who started muttering non-magical curses to Marx.
"Umm… What's with the penguin? And the mannequins shaped like Kirby?" The blacksmith looked to where Weiss was pointing to: a large emperor penguin with a metal peak, propped up against the wall.
"Well, you're not the only one Marx has messed with these last few days. Apparently, that thing used to be a railgun/battering ram. Now it's just… that. And trust me, that's one of his more tamer pranks," He explained. Shuddering, he muttered something about Taco Tuesday under his breath. "As for the mannequins, those are Kirby's copy abilities. Normally, he can only get the base forms of those abilities from enemies or natural resources. As a show of thanks, I created these upgraded forms of his Copy Abilities, which gives them additional abilities that he can use."
"I see. Hey, Ruby, what about this one?" Weiss asked, grabbing a pair of metal tonfas with spikes at the end.
"No." She said instantly, refusing to even look at the weapon.
"How about these?" This time, Weiss grabbed a whip with an uzi attached to its butt.
"No." Ruby repeated.
"This?" Weiss now wielded a comically large greatsword, which was both wider and taller than her. Weiss nearly fell to the ground due to its weight, but quickly recollected herself with the help of Weapon Shop Waddle Dee.
"No," Ruby repeated, irritation leaking from her voice.
Weiss groaned. "Really? Ruby, if you can't fight, you could be killed by a grimm, or worse, fail a class!"
"How is failing a class worse than death?!"
The two of the bickered for what felt like hours, despite having only spent three minutes inside the Weapons Shop. The shopkeep sighed in annoyance as they argued, getting no closer to finding a suitable replacement.
"Hey, girls!" He finally said, a snapping sound coming from his hand. This both alerted and heavily confused Ruby and Weiss.
"Uh… how?" Ruby asked intelligently.
"Don't question it. Listen, if you're not gonna pick out a weapon today, at least come back with some blueprints tomorrow so that I can make a weapon of your choice. I've got a lot of orders to work on, and you've got class in a few minutes," The Blacksmith said.
"Alright… Wait! What happens if I need to spar somebody today!?"
"I'll write you a note. Hopefully, that'll get some of the teachers to go easy on you for a while."
"Can you even do that? You're not part of the school's faculty," Weiss questioned.
"No, but I work closely with the Meta-Knight's to repair their weapons," the Waddle Dee replied. "So, I do have connections to the people in charge. Now then, don't you guys have a Colosseum to get to?" The blacksmith asked, handing Ruby a slip of paper with the shop's logo on it.
"Oh, right!" Ruby exclaimed, sweeping Weiss off her feet. "Sorry for bothering you! I'll come back with some blueprints!" Ruby said, dashing off with her partner.

Now Playing… Interview (Kirby and the Forgotten Land)
"Hey, Ruby! I saved you a spot!" Yang shouted, waving her hands while garnering annoyed looks from everybody else in the stands. Interestingly, there were also a few Waddle Dees with them, though they were sitting on the opposite side of the students, with popcorn and drinks in their hands.
The Colosseum had a rectangular arena in the middle: an elevated platform held in place by steel beams and accessed by a drawbridge near the corners, sitting in the middle of a man-made lake. Something told her that ring-outs were going to be more wet than normal. The arena had a few scorch marks and gashes on the floor, meaning that it had already been used before.
Ruby and Weiss sat down next to her, as well as Blake and JNPR. Jaune had a cup of coffee in hands, but it seemed like he was seconds away from falling asleep and dropping into the moat.
"Jaune, are you sure you're okay?" Ruby asked, genuinely concerned.
"What? Yeah, yeah I'm fine!" He replied, taking another long sip from his drink.
"Good, because our new professor has just arrived," Ren commented, nodding his head upwards.
Above the skies, one could barely see a pair of bat wings. It circled above them, until the figure suddenly changed directions and flew down, landing in the center of the arena and creating a massive dust cloud. The shadowy wings flapped once, and the dust was flung away, revealing a spherical alien wearing a mask, the chevron split only capable of revealing two glowing yellow eyes.
The Waddle Dees clapped and cheered for their protector, while the students did so for his dramatic entrance.
"Ladies and Gentleman!" A voice came from the speakers, which were hidden from view. "Your newest Professor of Pop Star Practical Combat, METAAAAAA KNIIIIIIIIIGHT!" The Waddle Dees exploded with cheers and whistles.
The winged alien raised one wing, and the cheers slowly died down.
"Greetings, students of Beacon. Before we begin today's class, I would like to thank you and Beacon for allowing our planet to take refuge in your cities and Academies. We extend a heartfelt apology for any inconvenience we may have caused these last few days." The crowd of Waddle Dees started clapping once more, but this time they were clapping for the students, sharing Meta Knight's sentiments about their situation.
"But… we haven't exactly done anything…" Jaune mutters sleepily.
"We've accepted them and helped them in their time of need. What more could they ask for?" Blake responded, with a twinge of envy in her voice.
"As I'm sure many of you have noticed, there have been sighting of multiple new species of grimm, some of which resemble my own soldiers," Meta Knight began, holographic images of grimmified Bernards, Bonkers, Blippers, Bronto Burts, and various other monsters that don't start with the letter B appeared above him. "The purpose of this class is to teach how to combat these new grimm, with both practical and theoretical exercises. It has been separated from Grimm Studies due to many behavioral differences between the native and alien species, such as their ability to work as a team, as well their tendency to fight in larger hordes than most packs. That being said, our first session will be different from the rest of the curriculum. I'm sure these past few days have been stressful for some of you. Today will be a day to relax and destress." Meta Knight's eyes changed color, going from yellow to light purple, maybe pink.
Interview - Fade Out
Meta Knight's hand reached for the sword hilt attached to his waist. He drew, revealing it to be a sword that lacked a blade. Disappointment reached an all time high, until the ruby hilt started emitting electricity, forming into a golden blade as tall as Meta Knight himself. A blade that exuded power.
Now Playing… In Pursuit of Victory (Kirby and the Forgotten Land)
"Now then, which of you have the courage to face me in battle?" Meta Knight asked in an eerily calm voice, pointing his blade to the stands, his piercing yellow eyes between a neutral expression and glare.
Once the question had been processed, many hands were raised.
With a flap of his wings, Meta Knight flew, maintaining his position in the center of the arena. Then he started spinning in place, moving fast enough for a small dust devil to form underneath him. Then, he threw Galaxia into the crowd.
The arena was suddenly silenced, the only sound being the thunk of Galaxia's blade embedded next to a pair of lilac eyes. The very next second, Meta Knight was right in front of her, inches away from Yang's face. He stared, then pulled his golden blade free.
"Yang Xiao Long. The locker room is down the hall, to the left of the entrance. You have five minutes to prepare." And with that, Meta Knight waved his cape and disappeared, replaced by a holographic screen of both her and the professor, as well as a timer.
The crowd absolutely ate the performance up, cheering and claps and whistles echoing throughout the arena.
"Well, he certainly has a flair for the dramatic?" Weiss said, looking a bit shaken.
"Oh yeah, I think I'm gonna like this class!" Nora said, punching Ren in the shoulder.
"I know. I haven't even seen the guy fight, and I'm already fired up!" Yang shouted, raising her fist in the air. Another round of shouts and cheers had been released into the air.
"Still, you should be careful when fighting him. If a tree can nearly break your aura, then I imagine a battle with a trained warrior that can fly and has opposable thumbs will be even more dangerous," Blake warned her partner. Pyrrha nodded as well. There was a glint in her eye, almost like she was amused by something.
Jaune was busy snoring.
"You got it! Ruby, do you have any words of encouragement too?"
"Gold sword… lightning… awesome…!" Ruby whispered, a deep blush on her face. Yang sighed and ruffled her hair.
"Thanks, Ruby~! I'll be sure to leave you out of my will…" Yang muttered. Ruby snapped out of her daydream, shouting "WHAT!"
Yang smiled at her, giving her a salute as she disappeared into the halls of Colosseum.
—
Now in her normal outfit, the blond brawler slipped on Ember Celica, making sure they were loaded. Yang had listened intently to her sister when she described the fight against Grimmydillo. Kirby was not only competent at fighting, but he was also extremely skilled at punching monsters in the gut.
At the café with Blake, she overheard a Waddle Dee mentioning that Meta Knight was Kirby's mentor. And now here she was, waiting for a match against one of the most skilled warriors on their planet, who trained a child to be a monster-slaying machine.
Her grin grew even wider as time slipped by.
"Yang Xiao Long?" Her head turned to the other side of the room, where a Waddle Dee wearing blue glasses and striped bow tie stood. Cute. "It's match time! Good luck!" She said, raising a hand in the air as if trying to give her thumbs up. Yang returned the gesture, and stood up, strutting towards the drawbridge.
Her glorious entrance was marked by cheers from both humans and Waddle Dees. Standing in the middle of the arena was Meta Knight, his back turned to her as his cape flew in the non-existent wind.
The cheers died down as the timer floating above them ended. Slowly, Meta Knight turned to face her, his blade sparking into existence. The screen changed once more, an Aura Meter appeared under Yang's portrait, while Meta Knight had a long, orange health bar with a purple border under his.
"In order to win this match, my health bar needs to be depleted completely. You lose when your Aura reaches below 15%, you fall into the water, or the class ends. Is that understood?"
"Crystal clear, teach!" Yang said, getting into a fighting stance.
In Pursuit of Victory - Fade Out
Yang took a deep breath, and threw a few experimental punches in the air. A wide, feral smile was plastered on her face, while Meta Knight's eyes shone in amusement.
Sunny Little Dragon
Yang Xiao Long
Now Playing… I Burn (RWBY)
Yang brought her fists forward, firing three shots at the masked warrior. Meta Knight's foot shifted, and he instantly traveled just far enough away to avoid the blast radius. He brought up his blade, and somehow managed to hook one of the rounds with one of the blade's tines, sending it back to Yang.
Yang sidestepped the bullet, and used Ember Celica to launch her towards Meta Knight. He simply observed, watching intently as Yang feinted and threw a left hook. He blocked the attack with the flat of Galaxia (he didn't even move back an inch, Yang noticed), and pushed, sending her back a few feet.
Meta Knight's eyes flashed, and he disappeared. Yang's eyes widened, feeling a sharp kick to her ribs the next second, knocking her off balance. Meta Knight grabbed her wrist, and threw her into the air. Galaxia's blade ignited, and with a powerful swing, a bright green beam of energy was thrown towards her. Yang cursed, twisting her body in the air to avoid the slash, only for a second beam to explode in her face.
She rolled on the ground and pounding her fists onto the floor, creating a small crater and she flung herself back at her instructor. Yang shot her arm forward and blasted once more with Ember Celica, killing her forward momentum while firing a round of ice dust. Meta Knight jumped out of the blast, tilting his body to avoid the icicles racing towards. He swung his sword, shattering the ice block and transformed his cape into a pair of wings. With a single flap, shards of ice were sent flying towards Yang.
Yang flipped over the shards, kicking her leg outwards when she noticed Meta Knight flying towards her, just grazing the heel of her boot against his mask. Meta Knight tucked his limbs close and brought his sword out, spinning like a buzzsaw and slamming into Yang's chest. She grunted, and tried grabbing on his wings. In an instant, the bat wings turned back into a cape, and she found herself gripping a loose fabric instead of a stiff limb. Meta Knight uncurled, and slashed at her chest twice, knocking her backwards a few feet and following it up with a quick jab to her legs, causing her to trip.
Meta Knight grabbed her shirt, and started stabbing the spikes on his wings into her shoulders, each strike creating sparks that flew everywhere. Yang reared back her fist and smashed it against Meta Knight's mask. He didn't seem to register the fact that he had been attacked.
With one hand, Meta Knight tossed Yang behind him and slashed, sending her farther away. Yang grunted and snarled when she hit the floor face-first. Meta Knight flew towards her, closing the distance between them in mere seconds. She waited, and threw her fist upwards at the right moment, making contact with his right wing. Yang fired, the bullet tearing through the wing and setting it ablaze. If Meta Knight felt any pain, he sure as hell didn't vocalize it.
Meta Knight veered uncontrollably to the side, skidding across the floor. He spun as he tumbled, landing on his feet as he shook his wing to get rid of the fire. He dodged Yang's fist as it crashed right next to him, and jumped.
Galaxia was a blur. Yang brought up hands to protect her face, unable to do much of anything as Meta Knight seemingly swung wildly. She could only move her hands a few inches before they were knocked away by the golden sword mere seconds later. Nobody should be able to move that quickly. He swung, forcing both hands down and threw his fist forward. If it weren't for her aura, her nose would've probably broken 4 times in that one hit.
Yang stumbled, her grin turning animalistic as her hair was set aflame. Her lilac eyes turned into a deep shade of red.
With a loud, guttural shout, Yang launched herself forward, moving much faster than before. Instead of looking intimidated, like a normal person would be, Meta Knight looked impressed. Then again, he wasn't a normal person.
Yang sent a barrage of punches forward, inches away from Meta Knight's mask, small gashes appearing in the metal as her fists grazed the edges. Meta Knight moved back, and disappeared once more. Yang threw her fist downward, creating a wall of ice around her. A small thud had come from her left, resulting from Meta Knight's sword stuck in the wall. Yang grinned, and punched as hard as she could, the walls cracking and melting. She reared her other fist backwards, and let it fly forward as fast as she could. Meta Knight watched helplessly as he saw the fist careen towards him–
I Burn - Cut Off
But the blow never landed. Yang stumbled forward from the momentum, slowly becoming more confused, until she was kicked from all angles a dozen times. She kneeled down, taking a momentum to catch her breath.
Wiping the sweat off her brow, Yang took a close look at the screen. She was at 48%, while Meta Knight had barely lost a sliver of his health. Speaking of the professor, where the hell did he go?
She looked forward, and found Meta Knight standing a few feet away, his golden eyes staring directly at her.
Now Playing… Sword of the Surviving Guardian (Kirby and the Forgotten Land)
Yang rose to her feet, slamming her fists together, hair and eyes still lit with flames.
Meta Knight reached behind him, and threw his cape off, flexing his newly regenerated wing. Yang might've called bullshit at the fact that it was fully healed in just a few minutes, but she was having too much damn fun! And she imagined he was having fun as well.
Meta Knight slashed an invisible opponent in front of him, and glared at Yang with blood-red eyes.
"Come."
The Lone Swordsman
Meta Knight
Yang rushed towards him, sending out a myriad of shotgun blasts. Instead of dodging, Meta Knight took to the skies, launching a barrage of sword beams at her. The brawler chooses to tank the hits in order to add more power to her semblance. Brushing the dust off her face, she leapt and tried grabbing the knight.
Meta Knight performed the Mach Tornado, knocking her hand away, and follows it up with a Shuttle Loop, launching in Yang into the air with two quick upward slashes, and combos that into a Drill Rush, thrusting his sword forward and spinning in a corkscrew motion, drilling into Yang's chest. Yag is launched into the floor, landing on her feet as she fires more ice dust into the floor, creating a protective wall that blocks more sword beams.
Meta Knight shot downwards and impaled his sword into the ground, somehow creating a swirling tornado with just the impact alone. Meta Knight then multiple sword beams into the vortex, the wind sending them flying everywhere. Yang swerved and flipped over energy blades, running into two of them to increase her power. As Meta Knight teleported in front of her, she unleashed a barrage of punches, which he easily evaded. Yang then brought her foot upwards, kicking his chin and messing up his flight path. She slammed her fist into his right cheek, adding a shotgun blast for extra power. Before he could fly away, Yang grabbed his wing and threw him into the ground, rearing back her other leg and punting him away when he bounced off the floor.
Meta Knight flapped his wings, correcting himself in midair, fired another sword beam large enough to engulf the entire arena. Yang slammed her fists into the ground and launched herself in the air. The knight came flying towards her, and she used more rounds to propel herself towards him. Meta Knight defended, and pushed with his blade to send her higher into the air. Undeterred, Yang used her gauntlets to maneuver herself in the air, moving backwards when Meta Knight got too close while trying to land a few pot shots herself.
Meta Knight did the same as well, using Drill Rush and Shuttle Loop to reposition himself in the air, trying to find an opening to attack. Yang flew in close, and as he slashed, she fired a round beneath her, letting her avoid and land an axe kick on his head. Using Shuttle Loop, he moved behind her. Just as Yang was about to launch herself away. Meta Knight used Mach Tornado to move behind her, grabbing her arms in the process. Meta Knight swung Galaxia downwards, hearing the satisfying crack of a spike successfully landing and watching Yang plummet at the speed of a bullet.
Yang quickly moved when she saw Meta Knight slam his blade into the ground once more. However, instead of being met with a tornado, she was instead hit by a pillar of green energy, moving across the ground with startling speed. Glancing at her Aura meter, she weaved around the pillars and ran towards Meta Knight, sword still stuck in the floor. She brought her fists down and landed each hit directly into Meta Knight's mask, disappointed to see that he barely reacted. He pulled the blade free just as Yang punched him in the center of the mask, launching him away.
Meta Knight was now hovering over the pool of water. With a flap of his wings, he created an updraft that dragged large boulders and a torrent of water into the air. As the boulders reached their maximum height, Meta Knight flapped his wings again, sending the water rushing towards her. Yang grunted when the liquid doused her flames. She heard the first boulder crash into the ground, and in a panic tried to find cover. The sudden movement mixed with the wet floor caused her to trip.
Yang brought her hands up to defend herself, waiting for a few moments to realize that the boulders landed nowhere near her, and Meta Knight hadn't attacked yet.
Opening her eyes, she saw her professor, entire body blazing with a rainbow fire and eyes turned into a shade of blinding red.
"Know my power!"
Meta Knight teleported in front of her and raised his blade into the air. Without warning, a lightning bolt strikes Galaxia, which splits and creates an electric sphere around him, knocking Yang into the air.
The next thing Yang felt was being slashed at from all angles, her Aura sparking each time Galaxia landed a hit. The flurry of rushes continued for a few seconds, until Meta Knight came forward and slashed at her stomach, launching her away.
Sword of the Surviving Guardian - Cut Off
In that instant, Yang's aura reached 15%, and she landed in the head first into the moat. Meta Knight swooped down to the center of the arena, spreading out his cape dramatically and stabbing Galaxia into the ground.
"You've much yet to learn," The knight declared.
"The winner is… METAAAAAAA KNIIIIIIIIIIGHT!" The Waddle Dees were going wild, cheering louder than ever before.
The Beacon side was absolutely silent.
"H-how did fast did he move?" Weiss stuttered.
"I don't even think he was moving, it looked like he was teleporting whenever he flung his cape," Ren noted calmly, the only one not displaying any emotion other than pure shock.
"And that last attack, with all the rainbow fire and stuff…?" This time it was Blake who spoke up. "No living being can move that fast, right?"
"THAT ABSOLUTELY FUCKING AWESOME!" Nora shouted at the top of her lungs, scaring Jaune awake. She started clapping furiously alongside the Waddle Dees. Slowly, the Beacon student's began to chime in as well, until the entire Colosseum made no noise other than cheers.
Meta Knight swooped down and pulled Yang out from the water, still conscious despite being struck by his strongest attack. He set Yang gently on the floor, rubbing her back as she coughed out the water she accidentally swallowed.
"Y'know, normally I'd be pissed that my hair was ruined," She began, "but I think I'll let it slide for today!" She joked. "So, how'd I teach? Did I meet your expectations?"
"Exceeded them, actually. Normally, the only other person who deals that much damage to me is Kirby or King Dedede," Meta Knight said, looking at his health bar. Yang smiled to herself, looking quite proud of herself that she managed to take out about a quarter of his health. "Really? How much more damage did I need to deal to break either of their records? 10%? 7%?"
"79% more damage for Dedede, and you actually needed to defeat me for Kirby," Meta Knight politely said, noticing Yang's head had dropped at the comment. "Your skill on the battlefield is admirable. You're physically strong, and agile in both the air and the ground, which will become necessities in the future. Defensively, you could use a bit of work. I understand that your semblance can make you stronger the more damage you take, but you run the risk of miscalculating how dangerous an attack can be, which can prove fatal in certain situations."
"Yes, sir!" Yang shouted, pounding a fist to her chest.
Meta Knight nodded. He flew up and grabbed her wrist, lifting it high in the air as another wave of cheers and applause came from the crowd.
"Here, take this," Meta Knight told Yang, reaching behind him and pulling a red, juicy tomato with a capital M printed on the front. "It's a Maxim Tomato. It will take care of any aches you feel," He explained. Yang took the fruit from him and eyed it cautiously, poking the M.
"Is… was this written with a sharpie?" She asked, but Meta Knight had already vanished. Yang looked around, but couldn't find him anywhere.
With a groan, she took a bite and walked back to the locker rooms.
"Huh. This is actually really good," She muttered.
—
"Y'know, this first day of school wasn't too bad!" Yang cheerily said as Team RWBY walked back to their dorm room.
"That's easy for you to say!" Ruby complained, drenched in sweat and tugging on her collar, courtesy of Meta Knight's 'relaxing class.' "You didn't have to go through hours of exercise because you fought an edgy blueberry today!"
"Your point?" Yang asked with a cocked eyebrow.
"You took one hell of a beating from Meta Knight, especially with that last attack. How are you still completely fine after that?" Blake asked. While she wasn't as tired as Ruby, there was still sweat dripping from her face.
"Are you sure there weren't drugs in the Maxim Tomato that Meta Knight gave you?" Weiss asked as Yang placed a hand on the door knob.
"Relax. It was probably some sort of Dream Land hocus pocus. I checked one of the shops, and there was literally a juice pack that increases attack power," Yang reasoned, turning the doorknob to their room. "And besides, you really think those cute lil' babies can make drugs– OH NOT YOU AGAIN!"
Now Playing… Fawful is There
"What? Can't a guy apologize for being a jerk?" Marx asked. He was sitting on the dresser with one foot crossed over the other, and a smug grin plastered on his pink face.
"You're… here to apologize? Like, 'apologize from the bottom of your heart' kind of apology." Ruby asked cautiously. Despite not having Crescent Rose with her, the leader's hands went behind her back to try and protect it.
"Yeah, sure…! Cross my heart an' everything…" The jester sighed.
"Okay. Who's making you apologize?" Blake asked, swiping the black bow from his chin/waist. Marx let out an offended gasp.
"How could you! Here I am, of my own volition, and you have the gall to assume that I'm not being honest?!" He asked, flapping his wings so that he was eye level with Blake.
"After everything you did earlier today? Yes, I do find that hard to believe," She responded.
"Can we all just calm down for a moment?" Weiss asked, trying to play the mediator. She grabbed Marx and hugged him close to her chest. "Just look at him! Do you really think somebody this cute won't apologize for any wrongdoing?" Marx flashed the rest of the team a sinister smile that sent shivers down their spine.
"Are you even listening to yourself, Weiss?!" Yang shouted. "This is the same guy that stuffed our entire room with fucking volley–BAH!" The moment she cursed, a bar of soap came careening from the hallway, ricocheting off of Blake's bookcase and landing directly inside Yang's mouth. She quickly spit it out and started sputtering bubbles out of her.
"ALRIGHT! WHO IN THE HELL–Kirby?"
The rest of the girl followed Yang's vision, and found the pink puffball himself, carrying a stack of board games on his head and giving the blonde a disapproving look.
"Poyo!" He said, walking into the room and started lecturing Yang about how saying bad words can really harm somebody's feelings. Not that anybody understood what he was saying. He placed the board games down and then pointed to Marx, and then himself.
"Mahrcks, fwen!" Kirby explained. Weiss and Ruby cooed at his speech, only for their faces to pale when they realized what he said.
"Wait… You mean that…!" Ruby started, only to be interrupted by Marx's cackling.
"That's right! Good ol' Kirby here caught wind that I was having some 'fun' with the locals, and he put a stop to it, like the friend that he is!" Marx explained, leaping from Weiss' arms and standing next to him. Kirby babbled happily, and took out a game from the pile that he brought. "Now, he wants to make up so that we can become best pals!"
"Pals? With you, I don't think so…" Blake's voice trailed off, unable to finish her sentence from the cute and oddly menacing glare that Kirby was giving her.
"So, whaddya say? This could also be a team bonding exercise~!" Marx said, shaking his golden wings. Kirby made a happy noise, and started setting up the game they were all going to play, whether they wanted to or not.
"Well, I suppose one game wouldn't hurt," Weiss muttered, taking a seat in between Kirby and Marx. Whether or not she cared about the team bonding session or just wanted to sit next to Kirby was up in the air.
"Wait, I'm the leader! Don't I get a say in this?!" Ruby cried. She looked at Kirby, who's expression turned sad. He stared at her with his cosmic blue eyes, which were slowly filling up with tears.
"Alright, alright! We can play!" Ruby said in a shaky voice, terrified that she almost made Kirby cry.
"Ha ha! You're getting better at guilt tripping people, ain'tcha?" Marx whispered to Kirby. The puffball stared at him, genuinely confused. "Right. Centuries-old toddler," He muttered, as the rest of the team sat down on the floor.
"Now then, why don't I make the first move. I just know that we're all going to have so much fun in these next few days!" Marx cheered, using his wings to draw his opening hand. "So. Much. Fun. Tee hee hee!"
