Full summary: On his journey home from surveying his land, King Rhoam Hyrule finds a young child fighting for his life on the plains all by himself after his parents and some imperial knights were killed by monsters. King Rhoam takes him to the castle where the boy swears his loyalty to the royal family and becomes a knight. Everything is fine until it is time for the coming of age ceremony for those who have finally turned 16. Just how is he supposed to rule when the weight of the crown, the return of an ancient enemy, and his daughter's love life are all putting pressure on him?
(A/N: This fic will be pretty detailed in certain areas. Blood and gore (mainly the first chapter), sexual content and mental health issues(PTSD, anxiety, negative thoughts, mental abuse, etc. I will try and include warnings in author notes before the chapter!) will be in the story, so please bear this in mind and read with caution!)
(A/N:
Hello there, peeps!
Here I am, starting another fic and I've yet to finish one...oops! But it's been a few years and I think I have a little more patience and perseverance than when I was a literal child so...alrighty then! (I posted most of them on ) I haven't written a LOZ fic yet, so I'm excited! I have a lot of the story planned out. I know (mostly) everything that I want to happen, which will help me stay on track a little better and get it together with updating. I'll also (slowly and painfully) get back to my other fics and post them here as well after lots of reading, editing and possibly rewriting *cries* (PandoraJ on here and )
Also, if you're into fantasy stuff, I'm actually in the process of writing a book...thing? I think I want it to be like an animated series, but first I need to finish it lol. Anyway, if you wanna check that out, I might start posting about it on my tumblr, but I do have three videos on tiktok about it so far, so if you guys are interested, let me know! I'm really excited about it. I think it's pretty freaking cool!
THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS SOME KINDA GORY STUFF. MENTIONS OF BLOOD, VIOLENCE, ETC. I feel like the fighting part isn't the best written, idk I don't have much experience with writing fighting scenes I guess, but otherwise it's okay? Hopefully it's okay.
I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING FROM THE LEGEND OF ZELDA. I just wrote the story bruh. Without further ado...)
CHAPTER 1: The Boy with the Sword
King Rhoam was tired.
He had been away from the castle for almost a month now, going this way and that, all across Hyrule to keep up appearances and show his subjects that the Hyrule Royal Family was watching over them. He talked with appointed nobles, village leaders, and even merchants to secure the safety and prosperity of his people. But now, he was ready for a long-awaited bath and some rest. After having breakfast in Kakariko Village that morning, the king and his men set off for the castle as soon as they were ready, praying to Hylia that the last leg of their journey would be quick.
The king grew excited yet impatient when the familiar plains of Central Hyrule came into view.
He called for his men to stray from the main roads, seeing as it was the fastest way, riding in a straight shot towards the castle. They wouldn't be bothering small villages or ranches as they passed through the fields, so he decided it was the best plan for everyone.
And thank goodness they did.
"Your Majesty! Up ahead!"
Around the halfway point between the Riverside Stable and Hyrule's castle town, there was a commotion. The king couldn't tell what it was from a distance with his eyes, but he could hear the cries of monsters. The king didn't hesitate, instead speeding ahead of his men, who followed after him without a word. As they grew closer, King Rhoam heard clangs of metal and could smell iron, but it wasn't the kind that came from weapons.
Blood.
The field ahead of him was stained in the dark red liquid. The king pulled on his horse's reigns, coming to a halt. He looked ahead to where the sound of fighting was coming from to see dead soldiers splayed across the bloody plains. Broken appendages bent at awkward angles, bodies impaled with swords, spears, and other weapons, and worst of all, some had been mutilated and ripped apart, burned and electrocuted.
When he finally found the source of all the clanging, he saw a small boy, probably no older than 6, wielding a sword way too big for his size. He had knocked down and sliced at bokoblins that almost overtook him and quickly gained the upper hand.
He would have been impressed until he saw the boy throw the sword like it was a spear.
The child didn't bother watching where the sword landed, instead racing around a horde of monsters and picking up more weapons. First was a bow and some arrows. He fired them at a rapid speed. If they didn't hit their mark the first time, they would zip past what seemed to be the intended target and find the body of another. Other times it would knock out the weapons carried by other monsters by penetrating the palm which held the weapon before the boy snatched them up right in front of their eyes.
The boy jumped onto the back of a Moblin and used the bow to strangle it until it snapped in half, sending wooden splinters flying. He hopped off the Moblin just in time for a row of lightning arrows to rain down upon the creature, where it convulsed from the electric shock. It fell backward, crushing some bokolins in the process. The boy was already onto the next monster, throwing the broken bow as a distraction for him to get closer. He threw a boomerang he had picked up earlier and threw it around the one he approached, which knocked out the ones coming to back up his current target.
A wand seemed to have materialized into the child's palm. He twirled it in the air, allowing magic to form, and released it onto the bokoblin in front of him. It burst into flames and burnt to a crisp in seconds. The king and his men could only watch in complete and utter surprise as this boy took down monster after monster. King Rhoam took back his earlier thought of not being impressed.
When only the Lynel was left, they all stuttered to life. Some knights rushed over to help, but by the time they got to the child, it was already over.
The young boy had stunned it and hopped onto its back. It frantically tried grabbing at him but to no avail. He had picked up an axe at some point and swung it around, hitting the nape of its neck repeatedly. Suddenly, the Lynel threw him off its back and swung a sword at him. The boy was in midair. The king could see what was going to happen next. He closed his eyes and turned away to spare himself the moment the boy was sliced in half.
The sound of a clean cut broke through the thundering footsteps of his men. He opened his eyes but didn't expect to see the beast's head flying through the air, completely separated from its body.
The boy landed on his feet and panted heavily. He began swaying before almost falling forward. He caught himself, falling to one knee, using the bloody sword as support. The Knight Captain and a few of his men finally made it to the boy's side while the rest looked over the aftermath.
King Rhoam hadn't noticed until the beast was taken down that the sword he had seen the boy throw at the very beginning had found its way through multiple bokoblins. A knight had found a trail of them. There were about seven bokoblins in a row, all punctured straight through the chest, head, or throat. The eighth one was found stuck to a tree with its heart pierced. The sword was firmly rooted into the tree's trunk.
In other words, the boy threw it with so much strength (and pure luck, right?) that it drove through seven bokoblins and killed them before finding its resting spot in the heart of an eighth that was now dead against the tree.
The throwing of weapons and overall haphazardness of it all was not how knights were trained, but it had worked for this child nonetheless.
"Your Majesty!"
King Rhoam was snapped out of his thoughts and rushed over. The young boy was in the Knight Captain's arms, breathing heavily. He was sweating, his skin was clammy, and his complexion, the part not covered in blood, was red. His skin was hot to the touch.
He was catching a fever.
"Send some men ahead to the castle and prepare a room for this boy. Get the Imperial doctor and tell them of the boy's condition. I will bring him to the castle shortly."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
"Just hold on, lad." He used his cape to wipe as much blood off of the child's face as possible. "You'll be okay."
