What if Alexis had called Kate when the party got out of hand.

Her phone rang as she made her way from the precinct to her car. "Beckett," she barked into the phone, not bothering to look at the caller ID.

"Um hi, Detective Beckett."

"Alexis?" Kate responded, her voice softening. She unlocked her car and got in. "If you're looking for your dad I'm not with him, I'm still in the city, he's with the boys."

"I was actually after you Detective," Alexis told her, her voice hesitant.

"Sure, I'm just about to head out to meet your dad and the guys," Kate said, "But we can talk as I drive if you want."

"I need your help," Alexis said in a rush.

Kate was suddenly aware of the noise in the background of Alexis' side of the call. "What's going on Alexis?" she asked, "Are you in trouble?"

There was another crash in the background.

"Alexis," Kate pushed.

"I was planning on having a girls night to get over Ash," Alexis explained in a rush, "And it may have gotten a bit out of hand. There's so many people here and I don't even know most of them." She stopped speaking, but before Kate could say anything she spoke again. "Can you come and help me get them out please Detective. I know you're busy but my dad is going to kill me."

"No he won't Alexis," Kate assured her, "Because I am sure he's done a lot worse." She started the engine and checked her blind spots before pulling out into traffic. "I'm on my way. I'll be ten minutes ok."

"Ok," Alexis said, "Thank you."

"Sure," Kate said and then ended the call.

She pulled up at the front of Rick's building and got out of the car. She nodded to the doormen on her way through, they all knew her on sight, and then got into the elevator and pressed the button for Rick's floor.

On the right floor, she got out of the elevator and headed towards Rick's loft. There were people pushing their way into the loft, and Kate could hear the noise coming from inside.

She pushed her way through the crowd of teenagers, ignoring the grumbles from some of them until she found Alexis. The girl was sat on the stairs, staring out at the room, a sad look on her face.

"Hey Alexis," she greeted, stopping in front of her. "What do you want me to do?" Kate then asked her.

"Thanks for coming detective," Alexis said. She looked around the room. "I just need them gone. I tried but they won't listen to me."

There was a crash behind them and both their heads snapped in that direction. "Dad is so going to kill me," Alexis muttered as they saw that a vase had been pushed onto the floor and had smashed.

"Let's get everyone out of here then we'll worry about your dad, Alexis," Kate told her.

She looked around the room and came up with a plan.

"Right," she muttered to herself before walking up the stairs and stopping just above where Alexis was sitting. "Oi," she shouted over the noise. Everyone turned towards her. "Anyone who doesn't know Alexis personally needs to get out right now."

There were some mutterings in the group but Kate just glared down at them all. "Why should we?" someone shouted back, "This place is ace."

Kate rolled her eyes and looked down at Alexis.

"Detective Kate Beckett, NYPD," she introduced herself, shifting her jacket so both her gun and badge were on display, "Now everyone out. Or do I need to start checking IDs?"

That got everyone moving and soon the loft was empty except for Kate and Alexis.

Kate walked back down the stairs and pushed the door shut. "Sorry," she said, turning to face Alexis, "That probably isn't going to make you all that popular."

"It's fine," Alexis said, getting to her feet, "You got rid of them, that's all I wanted."

She sighed and looked around the room, and Kate followed her gaze. "I'd offer to help," Kate said, "But I really need to be getting to Atlantic City, the guys need help on a case."

"I've got it," Alexis assured her. She looked back at Kate. "Seriously though thank you."

Kate just smiled at her and went towards the door. She opened it and was about to leave but then stopped when Alexis spoke again.

"Detective," she called after her. Kate turned to look back at her. "Please don't tell my dad."

"Of course I won't," Kate assured her, "In fact, I have no idea what you're talking about, all I did this evening was drive out to Atlantic City."

Alexis smiled at her. It was hesitant as if she didn't know how Kate would react to it, and Kate knew why. Ever since the shooting, she knew that Alexis had had something against her and while she had no idea exactly what, she could make an intelligent guess in that direction. Kate smiled back at her and then left, pulling the door shut behind her.

As she walked back towards the elevator she smiled to herself and hoped that today was going to be the start of Alexis warming up to her.
