What if Kate had realised that Rick had lied about not seeing the movie.
They were stood in line for the film and Kate was still waxing lyrical about the movie, and Rick just smiled at her, enjoying the enthusiasm.
"So it's really that good huh?" he asked when she paused to take a breath.
"Yeah," Kate said, a smile fixed firmly on her lips. "Oh, this is going to be good. I haven't seen this on the big screen in so long."
"Oh?" Rick asked as they moved forward.
"Yeah," Kate said. "They run screenings every so often," she explained, "And they ran one when I was a kid. I went with my mom, it was one of her favourites."
Rick felt his heart stutter slightly at the look of quiet remembrance on her face, she looked so happy and peaceful right now. She then shook her head and refocused on Rick as they were called forward to get their tickets and movie snacks.
"Pick your poison," Kate invited, gesturing towards the array of snacks.
Rick quickly asked for some sweet and salted popcorn and some gummy bears while Kate asked for some M and M's and told the guy behind the counter to make the popcorn a large. "We can share right Castle?" she asked, nudging him with her hip.
"Sure thing," Rick replied.
He picked everything up and then the two of them headed towards the screen.
They sat in their seats and waited for the movie to start. Rick placed the popcorn on the armrest between them and reached for it. Kate slapped his hand away. "Hey," Rick exclaimed in surprise.
"Wait till the movie starts Castle," Kate told him, "I'm not getting any more."
Rick pouted for a moment but Kate just raised an eyebrow at him.
"You're as bad as Alexis," he muttered, nursing his hand like Kate had actually hurt him, "She never lets me have popcorn till the movie starts either."
Kate laughed and then the two of them sat back as the room darkened and the screen lit up.

"That was epic," Rick told her as they exited after the movie.
Kate just hummed in response. They made their way out of the theatre and then Kate pulled Rick to one side, out of the flow of traffic.
"Beckett?" Rick asked in surprise.
"Oh cut the crap Castle," Kate said, jabbing him in the chest, "You lied to me."
"What?" Rick asked.
"I saw you in there, Castle," Kate told him, "You were saying the lines at the same time as the actors on screen."
Rick gave her a sheepish look. "Ok, ok," he admitted, "Just stop poking me will you." Kate glared at him but dropped her hand. Rick rubbed his chest and pouted but Kate just continued to glare at him. "I was planning on going anyway," Rick admitted, "But then Alexis said she didn't want to go, and then you said you were thinking of going, and you looked so excited, I just couldn't resist."
Kate shook her head. "You owe me dinner," she told him.
"Huh?" Rick asked, not following her train of thought.
"I paid for the movie and snacks," Kate told him, "Thinking you hadn't seen the movie. Therefore, you can buy me dinner as a sorry." She stared at him. "You did want to go to Remy's afterwards after all."
Rick just stared at her before he shook his head. "Of course Detective." He offered her his arm and she paused for a moment before taking it. "Shall we?" he then invited.
