"Great! Now onto the story." Rin said with a grin reminiscent of the cheshire cat. "So, one night, a boy was walking through the dark woods. It was so dark, he could barely see the ground in front of him."
"Why was he in the woods?" Teto asked. Rin responded by throwing a stick at her.
"He felt a shiver run down his spine, as if someone was watching him. As the boy turned around, his heartbeat increased. And then, right behind him, staring him down, was…"
Everyone leaned in towards Rin.
"Glowing red eyes, lighting up a small portion of the ground around him… It was… A DEMON!"
There was a loud scream from behind them, which was joined by the others screaming as well until it was just a loud scream party.
Luka turned around to see Momo and Rin laughing so hard that they were crying. Momo had been hiding behind everyone, and when Rin reached the story's climax, she jumped out and screamed.
"Rin, you jerk!" Miku yelled, hugging her slightly burnt leek.
"You'll look back on this and laugh."
There was an uncomfortable silence, broken only by Momo's quiet chuckles.
"What happened to the boy?" Asked Ted.
Rin thought for a moment. "He died."
"Just like that?" Ristu said, scratching their head.
"Well, I guess the demon attacked him and killed him. Slooowly, and painfully." Rin said, grinning again. "And then the demon killed all his friends. Also slowly and painfully."
"And this is all true?" Luka said skeptically. This would probably give Kaito nightmares for a month.
"Yep!"
"Okay, no more scary stories." Luka groaned. "Just eat your food, get in your tent, and we'll figure out what to do in the morning."
There was a murmur of agreement through the group. The rest of the night was silent, aside from some weak attempts at conversation that quickly died. Everyone was a little put off by Rin's morbid story, especially the ending of it. It was obviously not true, but even still, Rin had a love for horror movies and gore. They were lucky they got off without her describing the death of the boy who sounded suspiciously like Len. Rin must've thought it added to the "realistic" part of the story.
Finally, the makeshift dinner was over and everyone left to their own tents. Luka and Teto put out the fire, said goodnight, and went off to their own tents.
Luka stepped into her own cheaply made tent and switched on the also cheaply made flashlight. Although the space was cramped, she managed to pull on her silky nightgown and braid her hair before lying down, turning off the light, and slowly drifting off to sleep. It was so peaceful out in the woods. Maybe this was what she needed- a nice, quiet vacation. She smiled to herself and snuggled down deeper into the sleeping bag.
A bloodcurdling scream echoed through the woods and a frown made its way onto Luka's face as her eyes opened. The singer wiggled out of the sleeping bag, slipped into a pair of sandals, and crawled out of the tent as another scream tore through the air.
"Someone had better be dying." She muttered.
"HEEEELP!"
Luka made her way towards the screaming, cursing as she realized she forgot her flashlight. This was getting ridiculous.
Another scream, this time much closer. A little too close-
"Oohmph!"
Luka was knocked to the ground as someone crashed into her.
"Luka!" A voice said, clearly alarmed. "It's- It's the demon! They're in the woods!"
Luka sat up, pushing the person off of her. "I can't see, who are you?"
"I'm Len!" The voice, now identified as Len, responded. "The demon's in the woods!"
"Yeah, I got that bit. What demon?" Then it clicked. "Oh, not the demon from Rin's story, right?"
"Y-Yeah!"
God help her.
"Len, that wasn't a real story-"
"THERE IT IS!" Len screamed, pointing behind her. Luka sighed and turned around, only to scream. Staring right at her was a pair of red, glowing eyes.
"WHAT IS THAT?!"
"THE DEMON!"
Luka scrambled up and ran, Len following behind, and the red eyes chasing them.
"WHAT DO WE DO?!" Len gasped.
"RUN!" Luka responded.
Luka was almost blinded by the beam of light that suddenly shone into her eyes. "Luka? Len? What's happening?"
The flashlight beam lowered to reveal Miku and Teto standing in their pajamas, Miku rubbing at her eyes while Teto hugged a giant stuffed animal. Wait no, not an animal, a loaf of bread.
"DEMON!" Len screamed.
"What?" Teto asked.
"THERE!"
The glowing red eyes appeared next to Len. Everyone screamed and took off running again. After about a minute of running and screaming, Teto tripped over a root, and Miku ran right on past.
"SORRY TETO!" She cried, not even looking back.
Finally, the three of them had to stop. After a quick glance around, confirming that the eyes were nowhere near them, Miku switched off her light and collapsed, gasping for breath.
"Len…" Luka wheezed, "What the heck happened?"
"I-I was walking to go to the bathroom, and then there was a creepy voice saying my name, and then there were these glowing red eyes right in front of me!"
"So you ran?"
"So I ran!"
Luka sighed. "What now?"
"We… Um, we could try finding out what the eyes are attached to." Len said.
"I've got a light." Miku piped up. "Let's go monster hunting."
I updated this literally an hour ago talking about my writer's block and then I get this written. Either that cured my writer's block or I am a liar.
This is probably gonna be three parts, or maybe four. Hopefully three, because I said two, and here's part two and it's not done... Yeah, I'm gonna sleep now because it's pretty late right now.
Thank you for reading!
