Chapter Two:

Six Months Later:

People screamed and ran, diving for cover as a group of robotic flying bug monsters swooped overhead. In the sky, a large beacon of light flickered and went out as the sun broke through the clouds. While this would have caused nationwide chaos a few years ago, the people of Sugarus were probably used to it.

As one of the bugs - a Cy-Bug - dove down, a thick vine thrust out of the ground, grabbing hold and crushing the metal exoskeleton. The creator of the vine was a tall red headed girl, wearing a light green super suit with yellow accents in a flower shaped pattern. It also has a short skirt added around her waist. Her real name was Audrey Truffla, but her alias was…

"Good job Fleuria!" Shockwave yelled encouragingly. "Where's your brother?"

"Here!" Fiore groaned, throwing his own set of vines at approaching bugs. Onceler Truffla was just as tall as his sister, but with dark hair instead of red. His suit was dark green and had light green accents in the shape of little puffs. "Where's Mav?"

Shockwave rolled her eyes, phasing through a bug and turning herself into pure electricity and frying it from the inside out. Above her, like she'd been summoned, Mavis D'Cula, alias Empousa flew overhead as a bat before turning human and slamming into her own bug. Her suit was black and red, with winglike cutouts at her sides that connected to her elbows and a skirt similar to Audrey's.

"Hey Van," A new voice, this one belonging to Vanellope's best friend and guy in the chair Ted Wiggins, cut in. "I'm getting more police reports about bugs further down the block,"

"Damn, really?" She cursed. "Empousa! I could use some help!"

As the two supers hurried down the street, they were met by Wrecker, who already looked a little worse for wear.

"Kid, what did I say about swearing?" He asked pointedly. Shockwave sighed and apologized, but immediately jumped back into the battle before he could finish his lecture.

Luckily, the combined effort of five supers was enough to knock back the bugs. With the familiar screech of tires, Wrecker looked over to see several newsvans, being led by a woman with a flipped up black bob and a determined expression.

"Wrecker!" She yelled, almost tripped over a fallen Cy-Bug leg as she ran towards the hero. "Do you have a minute!"

"No I do not Mrs. Fieldmouse!" He replied anxiously. "Goodbye!"

"Wait!" The reporter yelled in vain. "Why don't you ever give me an interview!?"

"Awe nice," Ted cheered. "That's three yellows for me, which puts me… right at the gumdrop bridge!"

"I swear that this guy cheats," Onceler muttered, scowling at the board. Behind him on the couch, Audrey looked up from her sketchbook and hummed in agreement.

The team was currently clustered in the Itwreck-Von Schweetz-D'Cula basement, which also doubled as the group's HQ. Ralph had already debriefed and left the teens to their own devices - so naturally a game of Candyland had been started.

"Van!" Ted yelled. "It's your turn!"

Vanellope didn't register that she'd heard him, instead scrolling through a series of open files on a large computer setup in the corner. Most of the files looked to have been lifted straight out of government sites, embossed with seals that made them very hard to get ahold of legally.

"Van!" Ted tried again. "Van-ell-o-pe!"

"Huh?"

"It's your turn," He said again. "Come on, you can't be going through those files again,"

"There's got to be something I missed," Vanellope muttered. "O'Hare had to slip up at least once,"

"They did," Mavis reminded her. "They slipped up when we escaped,"

"That doesn't mean they haven't taken more!" Vanellope snapped loudly.

"Van," Audrey said quietly. "What do you want to do when you find the slip up?"

Vanellope growled, leaning back in her chair and almost buzzing with built up electricity.

"I… don't know,"

Later:

While Ralph would have taken all of them in if he could, a single man living on his own suddenly becoming the father to four while a new group of supers that matched them appearing overnight would be a bit too suspicious.

Ralph's house already fit him and Vanellope, but also had enough room to take in Mavis, so she'd moved into his guest bedroom (once again forcing him to move his extra stuff to a new location). Luckily, Ralph's adopted brother Felix ran an apartment building, where he'd gotten the twins a space in.

Felix knew all about the super thing. In fact, he was a super himself. His powers were just the ability to fix whatever he touched, which made the best landlord in the city.

Audrey and Onceler's apartment was a tiny space at the top. It was a floor that was relatively cheap, so the spaces were small, but they had a kitchen-living space, a shared bedroom, and a bathroom. It was a mish mash of furniture they'd gotten from Ralph and Felix, but everything was covered in various plants.

Onceler was standing at the stove, trying to make some sort of dinner while using his powers to move the vines hanging over him up. Audrey was currently reviving ones out by their window, encouraging a preterm tomato to ripen.

"Soooo…" The redhead singsonged. "Worrying about Mavy-wavy again?"

"Please. Stop."

"I don't think I will!" Audrey grinned, whirling around, excitement causing several plants to flower. "You liiiike her Oncie,"

In response, the flowers above him turned bright red to match his face. Audrey cackled again.

"Auds," He said slowly. "I'm begging you,"

"You're living in one of those teen romance books! She's a vampire! Like, a legit vampire!"

"It's not her fault the experiments did that to her!" Onceler protested. "We can control plants!"

"Y'know," Audrey said, walking over to the cabinets and grabbing some dishes to set the table. "Her powers really aren't like ours. And she'd got those weird side effects,"

"What?"

"Oncie, she's got fangs," Audrey said flatly. "None of the rest of us have fangs,"

"She's just different," He replied defensively. With a 'thunk' he sat the dish on the table, steam rising off the top as he sat down. "There, eat you soulless monster,"

"Did you make Dad's zeti?" Audrey asked, and her brother nodded.

"We needed a pick-me-up, don't you think?"

Without acknowledging it, both twins glanced at the small calendar on the wall. They'd used to love summer, back in Portorosso where they could play at the beach or participate in any of the triathlons. But when their Dad died… well, there was a reason the twins' mom hadn't stuck around in Italy.

Pushing past their bad feelings, the twins clinked their forks together three times before digging into the meal, scooping up enough as they enjoyed the rest of the evening.

Across the road, hidden in the shadows of another apartment roof, stood a figure. They stood straight backed against the wind, eyes flashing in focus as their hair twisted around them.

They focused on the apartment, noting the powers the girl had been displaying a few minutes ago.

If anyone could help them find her, those two would be a good start.

Authors Note: Ah yes, fighting, backstory and the start of some ships. I hope you all enjoyed this chapter! Now, some of the easter eggs in this chapter that you might have caught are: Felicity Fieldmouse, who is Mickey Mouse's sister (Mortie and Ferdie's mom). The Disney wiki said she was a reporter, so she filled a fun void I needed. Also, Portorosso, which is the town from Luca.
