Chapter Five:

One am rolled around, and Audrey touched down on the roof of the TGS Building, the vine she'd used as a ladder disappearing back towards the ground. Megan - no Moana - was already there, slouched against a pipe and looking at her feet while playing with a sphere of water in her hand.

"Hello," She said. Audrey didn't respond, leaving the two girls in an awkward standoff. Feeling a twinge of guilt for being so cold herself, the florakenetic summoned and extended a literal olive branch.

It poked Moana in the leg and the girl smirked and stifled a laugh.

Both girls removed their masks, nodding as they fully confirmed their suspicions about who the other girl was.

"I'm Audrey Truffla," The redhead said. "I'm Sugarus's hero, Fleuria. My twin brother is Fiore,"

"My name is Moana Montunui," The brunette said. "I'm from the pacific islands, and I'm here on a mission,"

"I'm listening,"

"My older sister and I grew up in a small village in the islands, where there was no tourism but it was close enough to boat anywhere we needed. My grandmother always told us our bloodline was blessed by the gods. My uncle Maui, had the gifts. He was a naturally born super with shapeshifting and super strength who would go out to help people on the islands for months at a time,"

Audrey had heard of him. "He was one of those people who'd ignored super hero restriction laws and ended up on universal news,"

"My sister Te-fiti was always the perfect one, but I didn't care," Moana continued. "She was smart and graceful, and her powers were a form of light healing, which made her incredibly useful around town. I can control water, which was a little less helpful,"

Moana kept going, telling Audrey that her father didn't have the gene, and didn't like the thought of his daughters working illegally with his rowdy brother. He wanted the girls to stay safe, and there was no better place than their island. But one night, when the sisters went out to pick up some dinner to bring back, they were attacked.

Moana was thrown up against a wall, hitting her head and passing out as her sister was abducted by men in strange gray jumpsuits. When she woke up, her sister was gone.

"I ran home, but she wasn't there either. Mom and Dad were devastated, and Uncle Maui wasn't on the island then, so it was just me," Moana said, voice barely above a whisper and warbling with tears. "Grandma Tala told me not to do anything stupid, but…"

"What?"

"I need to find her," Moana finished strongly. "I tracked her kidnappers here, to Sugarus,"

"Well, you're on the right track then," Audrey said. "Every super in Sugarus got kidnapped too,"

"Really?" Moana asked. "I was just tracking the cy-bugs, and I found the man who's been releasing them. K Candy, works for O'Hare Air as a head executive,"

"What?"

"Those beacons of light that appear every time they attack? He controls those,"

"There's a person behind the Cy-bugs?"

Leaning forward over his desk, Ted Wiggins scowled at his sketchbook. Forgotten homework was pushed up against the edge of the table, but he didn't need to worry about that. After the fire during the field trip, the school had given them a bit of leeway.

"Ted honey," His mom warned, sticking her head through the door for the fifth time in two hours. "Are you sure you don't want to stay home tomorrow?"

"Mom, I'm fine,"

"I know honey, but that fire was dangerous, and you were so lucky to have gotten out…"

"Mom,"

"Get some sleep," She said, leaving. Ted went back to his drawing, even though he didn't know what he was really doing.

"Hey kiddo," A new voice said, and he tilted his head back to look at a short gray woman holding a cane she didn't really need.

"Hey Grammie,"

Grammie Norma smiled and made her way to Ted's bed, plopping down unceremoniously before looking at her grandson.

"So, what's been going on with you and that pretty girl from next door?" She asked.

Y'know, there were times where Ted was convinced she knew that his best friends were all superheroes and he helped them.

"Nothing Grammie, just doodling,"

"Any new projects?"

"Nothing worthwhile,"

"I'm pretty sure that Stark man didn't think like that," Grammie Norma said as she stood up, nodding towards a poster of Iron Man above the desk.

"Huh?"

Norma smirked again and left the room, and Ted could hear her start to argue with his mom. Ignoring the muted fight, the teen leaned back in his chair and gazed up at the poster.

There were plenty of heroes with access to tech.

Couldn't he be one of them?

All it took was a quick email off to Wilbur Robinson in San Fransokyo and a few sketched out details, and Ted was ready to go to bed. He slipped his pj shirt over his head, grateful he'd gotten the email from Van when the heroes had visited.

Ted was just about to go to sleep when his phone lit up, signaling a new message.

"I've got the nerds on it already," - Wil

"Oh hellllll yeah,"

For the second time that night, Audrey stumbled through her apartment door, shucking off her supersuit as she went.

"Where were you?" Oncie asked. "What happened?"

"Call the team," His sister said, just as Moana appeared behind her. "Now."

Mavis ducked through the open window into her bedroom, falling lightly on her bed. She stretched and relaxed, ready to finally sleep after a long day…

"MAVIS!"

The dark haired girl sat up straight as Vanellope ran right through the door, eyes wide.

"Somethings up!" The younger girl panted. "Onceler called,"

"Let's go," She responded.

The two girls tore out of the house, making a slight detour for Vanellope to phase into the Wiggins house and grab the tech man. Within a few minutes, they'd made it to the Fixit apartment complex and were tearing through the stairwell and to the Truffla's door.

They didn't know what happened, but everyone had a different theory. Vannelope was worried someone had been kidnapped again, Mavis thought Oncie might have been hurt, and Ted thought that maybe the Cy-bugs had them hostage.

The door slammed open, and three people looked up from the couch.

"Tea?" Oncie offered, holding up the pot as Moana and Audrey put theirs down.

Authors Note: I really like coming up with backstories, but I like it even more when I get to add it into the story! Did everyone enjoy Moana's story? Did anyone see it coming? Let me know!
